Yes, it's not a grub! It's a noctuid moth caterpillar. Probably a large yellow underwing which is sometimes called the winter cutworm because they tend to be active in late fall and winter when there are days above freezing. They hide in the soil during the day and come out at night to eat plants. They also pupate in the soil and emerge as adult moths in spring or summer.

Note that it has eight legs and not six so it's an arachnid! Specifically a solifuge or windscorpion. Or camel spider. Or sun spider. Lots of names for a cute little harmless lad. A fun find, I don't think you have a huge amount of them up there!

Ohhhhh my goodness she is so tubby and fuzzy and adorable!!! She did an amazing job on her first flight. Hope she lives a good moth life...
