good morning beloveds <3 i feel like even tho i've been posting a lot this week that i haven't spoken to anyone properly sksbhshhs

gna post my big week 1 countdown set now and i have a few ideas for stuff to do in w2 but nothing solid ahhhh but its the last week of school and friday is a day off and then i have a two week break yayayayay teachers get school holidays off, people say, but do people know that jazzy works at least one extra working day per week in after school and weekend hours no they don't 🔪

anyway there's no point to this post i just wanted to say henlo OH and also omg i'm actually sooooo happy that so many ppl are participating in the countdown event????? honestly i really thought it'd be the atzsource admins and maybe three or four others but to see so many posts every day from mutuals on semi hiatus and new ccs i've never heard from before and beloveds who haven't giffed in ages and are using this as a good reason to get back to posting original content....... it honestly warms my heart like i am So Glad this is bringing atinyblr back together bc that was the intention when we came up with this event so im just 💖💗💙💜💞❤💖💜💗💞💝💕💙💘💗💘

Here is the image that inspired this particular iteration of Inuyasha, and I am so grateful to wolf for gifting me this piece at the beginning of the year. It took a hot minute for me to find a plot for him, but hopefully this fic does him justice.

Inuyasha and Kagome weren't dating.

Not technically.

Not at all.

Yes, he drove her and her son to campus five days a week after he got done working, but he lived in that neighborhood anyway. Yes, each of those days he came a little earlier than he needed to, but that was to have breakfast, which was her only way to pay for him helping her out. And yes, he played with Toru and watched him for her sometimes when she had to meet with a group for a project, but Toru was adorable: everyone liked him. And yes, sometimes he just came and hung out so they ate dinner and snuggled on the couch, but he was half dog demon, snuggling was in his nature.

And, sure, they kissed a few times. He was absolutely beautiful; who wouldn’t kiss him senseless when a particularly inspirational scene was burning into their retinas while watching a movie together?

He hadn’t said anything, so she wasn’t going to say anything and make it a thing. It was casual. It was comfortable. It was fine. She was happy and wasn’t going to risk ruining it by drawing attention to it.

Except that she kept having these dreams of waking up next to him, and of him taking Toru to school so the little boy could introduce his friends to his “Yaya”. She’d find herself imagining how well he’d get along with her mother, and how nice it would feel to hold his hand at the grocery store.

And she may have started to let those hands wander during their make-out sessions, getting bolder and more confident with each returned kiss, each palming of flesh, each moan of her name she was able to draw out of him.

It was a Monday when things vaulted over the next step. It was a closed-campus holiday and even though he had no real reason to, Inuyasha still came over for breakfast after his shift at the diner and ended up staying all day.

Like usual, he ditched his work shirt in the trunk of his car as soon as he left the diner, but instead of his usual t-shirt, he came through the door wearing a black button-up with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. By the time nap rolled around and they were curled up on her bed watching Netflix with the volume turned down, she couldn’t help but spend more time staring at the exposed tattoos on the arms wrapped around her and less and less on the show. There was something about the rolled-up dress shirt sleeves and about the ink and muscle hidden just under the thin black cotton that made it impossible for her to keep her fingers from stroking up and down the exposed skin.

“Whatcha thinkin’ about, Kagome?”

She jumped a little as he whispered in her ear, having been so lost in thought she didn’t even feel him shift behind her.

She kept her face forward so he couldn’t see her embarrassment. “Oh, nothing, just caught up in the show.”

She felt his left hand slide down her stomach and he dipped his fingers just inside the waistband of her leggings. “I can smell what you’re thinking about, so unless you’ve got something you want to tell me about your feelings on Dwight, I don’t think it’s the TV.”

Kagome felt her face light up in a violent blush, but… if the cat was already out of the bag…

She rolled in his hold so her chest was flush with his, then pushed her hand against his shoulder to lay him flat on his back, his beautiful silver hair laying in swirls across her sheets. From her new position sitting on his hips, she ground her core against him to tell him that yes that was exactly what she’d been thinking about. He tried to pull her down to lay against him again, but Kagome was a woman on a mission. She might not feel up to receiving sexual gratification yet - still too nervous at sharing her body after how poorly it had worked out last time - but in that moment, looking and feeling the way he was, she had no reservations about giving.

She quickly unbuttoned his shirt, pausing to take in the view of his sculpted chest, pierced nipples, and the few small tattoos that littered his ribcage, before reaching to open his belt and pop the fly of his jeans. He raised his eyebrow at her, as if it wasn’t glaringly obvious what she was about to do. She raised her own with a smirk, before leaning forward to kiss a bee line from the center of his chest down to his exposed happy trail. She stopped just above his boxers to look at him again, and when he nodded his silent approval, she dove in.

When he finished, Kagome couldn’t stop from feeling rather pleased with herself. She may be a little rusty, but looking at Inuyasha’s punch-drunk expression, she figured she’d get her full confidence back in time.

She felt so happy she had to bite her tongue to stop herself from saying something stupid. In his post-orgasm glow, she could almost tell herself Inuyasha was looking at her with more than just lust, and maybe, just maybe, he did love her the same way she loved him. He looked so pleased and she felt so warm… and she just couldn’t bring herself to risk being wrong.

Maybe someday she’d work up the courage to ask.

But for now, as he tucked himself back into his pants and pulled her down to snuggle, she decided she could survive the ambiguity a little while longer. She nuzzled into his chest and breathed a contented sigh. This was more than fine, it was damn near perfect.
