howdy! normally i dont reach out to/thank/interact at all with """fameous""" ppl i follow so i apologize if this comes off as wacky especially cuz i was off tumblr for like 4 months but

tumblr basically force fed me your content like a year or so ago and im so glad bc it genuinely helped me with understanding and developming my own trans nature(?), as well as seeing the random snippets and quirky comments were funny as hell.and normally i dont do asks/say thank you to a creator, but im currently studying abroad in europe and knowing that someone, somewhere else has gone through similar things to myself in this foreign space is a real comfort. alrighty, to steal or not to steal! this one is a little hard to liveblog and I'm not going to go through all the options, so I'm just gonna take you through my favorite path and gush about how hot and gay everything is for the most part! there will be a little commentary on other paths but yeah :)

fun fact- I am also taking us on close to the first route I ever took with this special. I got waylaid along the way by the trick routes and failed a lot, but I'll get us on the path to the first win I ever got. (the best one.)

i was SHOCKED by how good this special was the first time I played through it. I had just joined the fandom, I was scrounging for content in the waiting-for-s3-desert, and boom- there was a SPECIAL? why didn't anyone tell me?

anyway, this is always super fun to do. I've done every single route multiple times and recorded all of them too for the illegal stash but theres nothing quite like playing it.

in the very first episode (and african ice) devineax mentions an amusement park in shanghai. wonder if the two are related, or if VILE just has a shit ton of properties in there?

she did, in fact, get shanghai'd in shanghai.

the first time I played this i obviously chose to try to save zack and ivy. since I know that leads to failure now, I'm skipping it this playthrough, but it was quite the shock the first go around! tsonts plays to my little angst loving heart by making you watch zack and ivy and sometimes carmen meet horrible tragic ends again and again lmao

the terracotta warriors are super cool im glad we get to visit them

i think the first time i played this option i talked to tigress. since sneaking just gives bonus material and doesn't actually change anything (plus. puppies) im going that route!

this is the choice i made my first time playing! i love carmen's sassy ass "i cant hear you! im in a tunnel, bad connection!" line, and i'm not going the arctic circle path anyway so it doesn't matter.

I didn't know carmen had access to stopping time, a disguise, and endless amounts of dirt to camouflage her perfectly with the statues in addition to a handy spot to keep her change of clothes. who knew? im going with hide to speed up my run, but I was pissed off the first time i played this let me tell you sjgdhsgdhs

actually, you know what, let me hit ride for a second because I think there's a carmen death at the end of that one I want to comment on

some of the lines in this special are a little weird with repetition. carm does it once with the riding with/hiding among the statues in a way that sounds a little unnatural, and she does it again here with "everything i ever steal from vile goes straight to charity, and now they're making me steal from a charity?" the inflection/repetition is just weird, like the emphasis should have been on steal, not charity. idk maybe gina just reads weird

carmen SLAYS in this dress. i wish it was even more extravagent but i get they needed something simpler for the dance scene. still shes hot as fuuuck for the whole part

reading the liveblogs is making me realize that there is actually a type of character I can't stand! :D

fucking martyr complex character that will hurt and destroy themselves and everything around them, innocents and the people they love included, and are fully aware of it, are making that choice and thinking they're doing it for good. not even for the greater good, but for the good of the people they care about. stubborn morons who have no way to be helped because whatever you say they will have a justification to them. You're in danger! it's ok, I'm ready to die for this. What you're doing is awful! It's ok, I'm doing it all for the ones I love. The ones you love are being hurt in the process! It's ok, I'm a bad person. You have done good and you can be good! Lol no I can't. I literally told you you could! I was faking.

Like dude stop being so fucking frustrating and contradicting you don't care about them you care about feeling like a bad guy (when you're not) and a martyr. and telling you that won't even help because it just fucking fuels your "im naturally evil" bullshit. you're not you've been hurt you did bad things but that doesn't mean it's necessarily all lost you fucking moron.

the only thing that will stop these kinds of characters is failing hard, realizing that what they've been doing was for fucking nothing. it breaks them on the moment but at least now you can pick up the pieces to help them.

anyway glad yall are excited honestly it's good and cool for an arc and all that but on my side i will have a strong aversion to q!cellbit and hope he's going to get slapped in the face with failure :)

I saw your tags on my "Why do people keep recommending Dreamwidth as a Tumblr alternative" post, and I wanted to let you know that I actually have a guide to finding new stuff and people on Dreamwidth already written out! It should be relatively recent in my Dreamwidth 101 tag, but I can also dig it up for you if you like. Just maybe not for a while; I'm still catching up with all of the other notes on that post 😂

Thank you for sending this! I just went through your posts tagged dreamwidth, i think i found and liked the post you're talking about regarding how to find people on dreamwidth to chat with. I'll look into it more when i am setting up an account. <3

Ignore the below, its mostly just personal rant. ToT tldr: i think dreamwidth is cool and since i miss livejournal ill probs make an account regardless, but tumblr has some ways of using that just work better for some things i do regularly.

I plan to use dreamwidth eventually. Its just, ahh again like my tags ToT, the benefit of tumblr (over stuff like livejournal dreamwidth ao3) has been being able to easily have casual chats with people with shared interests even if they dont follow me or know how to find me specifically, long chats (unlike twitter), chats we can both save a copy of on our blogs just by reblogging. I do a lot of study blog stuff with sharing study ideas, where the informality of tumblr makes discussions warmer and more open to mentioning experiments and trial error than reddit (which language subreddits expect high quality informative additions mainly) and lets ppl find the discussion posts based on tags (again a bit easier than reddit and much easier for ppl to find then them trying to find Me specifically). And a lot of fandom liveblogging, which twitter is an alright alternative to but 1. Expects real name (and my job marketing i dont really want tied with grammatically messy giggling about some show) 2. Elon musk touching anything i make frankly 3 twitter is shortform so its not really compatible with 4000 word meta posts. Dreamwidth (and blogging sites) are. But then they're not super compatible with 20 other active show watchers finding you the same night theyre liveblogging and you all getting to chat excitedly.

Then as an artist... im glad tumblrs still up. Instagram doesnt encpurage reblogs, has a messed up algorithm, so its not good for new people finding you. Twitter is better with tags connected to public feeds, and reblogging culture, but elon musk is very cool with ai scraping any art posted and hes stolen art before personally anyway so i dont want my art near that. And then sites with no reblogging culture just are not great for spreading art to more people to find you. (I moved to tumblr after the deviantart exodus years ago, and while some ppl moved to twitter later as its also got common reblog usage which helps artists get more visibility, im just not super compatible with twitter ToT). I do wonder if eventually a new social media more artist focused will surface (since after deviantart pulled the "needs premium membership" push and ppl left, nothing really replaced it... tumblr is closest cause personal blogs allow for tagged/ personal blog Pages so you can organize art somewhat, compared to twitter or instagram. But tumblr itself was trying to push away from personal blogs too for a while, so who knows.)

hello i would personally like to thank you for teaching me to post whatever the fuck i want on this hellsite. when i first came years ago i was super afraid of speaking bc i had shut myself up super tight as a coping mechanism and cared wayy too much abt other ppl's opinions (they couldnt beat me down if i didnt say anything). So i made myself as small as possible & invisible. But i saw ur liveblogging and drabbles abt things going on in your life almost daily and eventually it broke that shell of fear that i built around myself to prevent getting hurt. Now i do original posts a lot more and im relearning letting myself find joy in stuff i was taught was stupid. Anyways, i started this funny but it became serious bc its late at night (and never trust what is thought late at night). Thank you, & have a good time loser 🌟

HOWEVER, i like midori intensely more than komaeda and i dont completely understand why that is myself. i think its bc midori is just fucked up. he’s not trying to be anything other than fucked up. he’s having so much fun. komaeda is an inconsistent mess of a person who sometimes wants you to step on him and make him eat dirt and other times acts like he’s better than everyone else to the point of being completely insufferable. komaeda seems like hes somehow getting off on everything you do to him no matter what. i dont know i cant explain this either but i still hate komaeda so much

im betting his various organs are just gonna keep showing up places now. he’s gonna end up not being actually dead somehow because of some ai program or some piece left behind somewhere im calling it right now

Ritsu once again the only one with brain cells and puts together what's going on SO quick cause even though he doesn't "understand" his brother he knows his brother like no one else. i'm never not emo about Ritsu. i love Ristu and Mob's relationship. ugh ugh ugh

the opening to s3 is so wild i notice something new every time i watch it. love that. reminds me of s1 <3

it takes place in a tax haven off the coast of england (factually incorrect i think but its funnier to describe it like that) run by a man i have been attacked REPEATEDLY over discord for liking (they are so mean to me) (but go look at salem and tell me im incorrect) and it is steampunk with heart and passion. the world itself is REALLY FUCKING INTERESTING from what they have in the pitch packet PLEEEEEASE READ IT but basically there is both steampunk AND magic and they have a SPECIAL OUTERSPACE ROCK which has magic properties (everyone loves a magic space rock) and. and the beasts. ough. the beasts...the space rocks turn men into beasts. go look at the beasts the art is very pretty.
