Il volto della dipartita: uno dei resti di Pompei. Il volto della dipartita in questo resto della città di Pompei, uno dei reperti che più mi ha colpito (che poi statua non è ma vi spiegherò più avanti). Come tutti voi saprete Pompei è quella cittadina romana che attorno all'anno zero fu spazzata via, assieme ad Ercolano, da una delle più grandi eruzioni del Vesuvio. Ho usato le parole "spazzata via" che in realtà non sono corrette. La furia del vulcano infatti più che distruggere ha ricoperto, con uno strato di polveri e lava, la cittadina. Il tutto avvenne in maniera così improvvisa che in molti non riuscirono nemmeno a scappare. L'oggetto di questa foto infatti rappresenta una di quelle persone che, sorprese dall'erizione, cercarono riparo da qualche parte inutilmente. Fa impressione osservare le mani che cercano di coprire il volto.
