Vetinari may have other loves, but as far as you’re concerned his first love is always his city. She* can be a cruel and jealous mistress, but he is hers, and she knows it. He protects her, cares for her, and understands her in a way that no one else can. In return she does the same, in her own way. And in a world where anthropomorphic personifications have power, that can be quite enough romance for one man.

*Or he, according to your preference, but I’m going with the feminine for Ankh Morpork here, arguably out of tradition but actually purely out of laziness so I don’t have to deal with the pronoun problem.

Ship that makes you sad: 💔 Shi Qingxuan/Ming Yi. Ah, I was so HOPEFUL. When they first appeaerd I even thought we might get badass lesbians to ship! And then Black Water... went and sank this ship too.

Ship that you find cute but don’t ship: ✌ Enjolras/Combeferre. They are as compatible as Enjolras ever will be with anyone who isn’t the anthropomorpic personification of France, And Yet.

Finn/Rey, Finn/Poe. I’m just too cross with the sequels to engage with them in any way apart from grumbling.

Laura Buckley “Fata Morgana” (ARTIST/ RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT)

“Fata Morgana” a solo project by Irish born, London based artist Laura Buckley.

This personification of a natural phenomenon and anthropomorpic sensibility in humanity gently riffs through Buckley’s work. For the past four years Buckley has been producing multifaceted installations incorporating components ranging from motorised plywood structures, Perspex sculptures, sound and projected moving image. Her idiosyncratic use of light both within her installations and films is exacerbated by the sleek surfaces she includes which reflect projections onto the viewer, or are the focus and subject matter of the films themselves. Where previously mechanical movement of objects has made up an important part of her installations, in Fata Morgana both the film and the sculpture are static. This allows the fast paced edit of the film and surface of the sculpture to interact with the body and perception of the entering viewer, including and absorbing them into the kaleidoscopic installation.
