They played a very fun and easy R1 match today. And they were so chill and cool chatting with everyone, taking photos and giving autographs afterwards. 👍
Turin Ch D F: Harri Heliovaara/Henry Patten def. Andreas Mies/Neal Skupski [1] 6-3, 6-3 Match Stats
📸 ATP official website
As close as this match looked, Heliopatten nailed most of their point constructions since early in this match. Here, they tried to be as balanced as possible while capitalizing on Mieski's service game troubles, anticipated and placed their returns well that resulted in them nailing the pressure points. Even though Mieski had a slight chance to break back in the second set, it was insufficient for them to stay in the match due to the pressure Heliopatten put on return. As a result, Heliopatten generated 9 break points, converting 44% of them while Mieski only converted 1 break point in the second set despite their 7 chances.
Besides, Heliopatten also had a more solid service game as this match progressed. Mieski's problematic second serves were also statistically confirmed as they double-faulted twice more than Heliopatten (6 to 3), fading their second serve winning percentage 15% behind the latter, which also was a result of Heliopatten capitalizing on Mieski's second serve errors. On the other hand, thanks to their 7 aces, Heliopatten stood out in their first serves by 15% compared to Mieski's 60%, which helped the unseeded pair to get out of most troubles.
This marked Heliopatten's third overall titles together after the Madrid Challenger and Marrakech (250), where Turin also became their second Challenger title as a pair. For Mieski, their next tournament will be in Lyon (250), where they will face Ariel Behar/Adam Pavlasek in the first round, while Heliopatten already has a tough test in third seed Sander Gille/Joran Vliegen in their opening round matches in Geneva (250). Madness.

The setup of the second set became an entirely different case once Mieski tried to dial in. It all started from an almost erroneous service game from Heliopatten, where they turned out to save one of their break points through a working serve and volley combination before they smashed their way to hold 1-0 in an out-smashing contest. They then broke to 2-0 after a reflexive lob from H. Patten secured their break point before a swift return confirmed their break only for them to be broken back thanks to Neal's backhand return ace to 2-1. Subsequently, Mieski leveled the play with a service game hold to 2-2.
However, the moment did not last long as H. Patten's anticipatory forehand returns carried the other half of this set. Here, his forehand return ace secured Heliopatten's break point 2 games later before Neal's double fault secured their break point conversion to 4-2. They then consolidated their lead with a smooth service game hold to 5-2, and they almost broke for the match when they had numerous match points due to Mieski's unforced errors, but the first seeds still maintained their service game hold to 5-3. As a result, Heliopatten earned an opportunity to serve for the match, which they smoothly did by sealing the match with an ace (6-2) to win their second Challenger-level title together.
