What is it about Kobra Kid that made all of us look at him and be like “yep that’s some uber autism there” is it the sunglasses?

yo been trying to write you got any thoughts on kobra and ghouls coping mechanisms? i know its like. fight or fuck but would you mind going into that a little? :P

YEAHH! So the fight or fuck thing is like an autism and stimulation thing with them both as well as the fact they both grew up in ways that mean now they bottle everything up, emotions, stress, tension, etc, and they’re both really violent people. Kobra’s need to fight is more emotionally fueled while Ghouls is a stimulation/pent up energy and numbness thing, Kobras always had anger issues but then he stuffs it all down until he loses control and fucking explodes, and it used to be he’d end up snapping or hurting someone he cares about or he’d go too far in a firefight and like maul dracs beyond definition instead of just taking them out, instead he took his anger out on them, or he’d go out and pick fights, just to let out all those emotions and feel something under his fists. He’d do it a lot until he picked up racing, learned to ride a motorbike, that adrenaline became a much safer escape for him and now he doesn’t need that physicality as much anymore, but he still does sometimes, and that’s where Ghoul comes in. For Ghoul, it’s his default when he’s under or overstimulated and frustrated to have a meltdown that comes in the form of basically attacking the closest person that’s annoying him, it’s a physical release and where Kobra fights to let out his anger by hurting something, ghoul fights to get hurt, to feel that physical sensation that grounds him and can become the center of his world, if he’s understimulated or feeling numb, fighting sets him back in his skin and if he’s overstimulated, everything else that’s stressing him out tends to melt away and just the pain is left. Sweating and hurting and getting reminded that he’s alive just feels good and he’s yet to find any better coping mechanisms to get his stress out other than blowing shit up and watching it burn and that isn’t really any safer.

But when they became friends they kind of realized at some point that oh we have the same issue this kind of works out, and it’s totally still not healthy, supporting the others need to hurt vs get hurt, but it’s a lot safer because unlike with some enemy or pissed off killjoy, they can stop before they seriously hurt the other and since they’re friends they can always laugh it off if they do. Eventually they just Know each other well enough that Kobra doesn’t explode anymore when this does happen because Ghoul can just Tell like, hey, I can tell you’re pissed, come at me and tire yourself out before you go nuclear later on. And Kobra can tell when Ghouls getting under or overstimulated and step in before he has a meltdown. And the fuck thing comes in eventually because if you fistfight your buddy enough it’s going to become homoerotic sooner or later, and if they act on it hey, it’s another physical release that gets rid of more pent of tension so, it works.

Poison:

Ok i know gerard said they/them but poison is a they/she/he to me and i cant explain why

The way they express their gender is very casual. like they’ll just wear whatever is comfortable and hang out in long skirts. Poison seems like a long skirt sort of girl. 

While their signature look is the dead pegasus jacket, they usually wear t-shirts with the sleeves cut off while hanging around the diner because of the heat.

The jacket is The Look™ so they wear it whenever they go out anywhere, but to keep up the idea of the symbol they painted the poison logo onto all of their clothes. 

Can see the phoenix witch and they actively have conversations whenever they see each other. They’re friends nobody can change my mind

Honestly because of that Poison knew they would probably die when the group went to BLI (they didn’t know if the others would as well)

They write everything they need to remember on the walls of the diner: shopping lists, important dates, things to remember, and whatever random lines of poetry or lyrics come to their mind. 

Kobra and Poison are city born, but when they were younger there was an incident with a nuclear bomb near their house or something that gave them the chance to escape the city. 

A mix of the radiation and hitting their head caused Poison to be able to see the Phoenix witch. They were so close to death that a part of them stayed there.

When Poison and Kobra escaped the city, Poison dyed their hair red as a celebration and it just grew in red ever since. (radiation is fun to think about)

Jet

Jet was born and raised in the zones

The radiation in the desert is pretty intense because of the amount of bombs BLI sets off there, and jet star has a lot of weird body things because of it. 

There’s a couple extra bones in his back, and he is just generally stronger than the average person should be able to be. 

He also has an extra finger on his left hand (No im not bitter that the guitar parts ray toro writes are too hard for me)

The radiation is generally pretty cool in its side effects, but he has vision issues as a result and needs to wear glasses sometimes. Its worse on his left side. 

Sometimes his vision gets so bad on the left side that he needs to wear an eye patch so he doesn’t get a headache. The issue varies from day to day. 

Jet star was the first killjoy that poison and Kobra met

Kobra

Kobra is super empathetic, but nobody knows if its a result of the bomb radiation or just kobra being kobra. 

Autism™

is missing his left arm from the elbow down. I haven’t decided how he lost it yet

Transmasc in the most macho way possible (NEVER had a cavetown phase)

When the bomb incident happened in the city, Party was knocked unconcious and Kobra had to carry and take care of him for a little while until they were both safe again. 

This was when he met Jet

Also city born

Got a job at BLI when he was like 15 or so because he was a prodigy when it came to chemistry

BLI also taught him to shoot, and he is the best shot in the group. 

he was sort of a scarecrow in training before he left

Autism™

He got himself off the pills at an early age, and became oddly good at everything science. 

This one is me projecting but one of His special interests is astrophysics and how it effects time (like einsteins theory of relativity and time travel)

His special interest in astrophysics got him interested in normal physics, and then chemistry from there. 

Like understanding how the world interacts with itself is just. insane. (listen i love science class i am projecting)

Usually kids being really good at school is a sign to BLI that they’re off the pills but BLI decided he could be useful and gave him a job instead

HAI ID LIKE TO DISCUSS UR BAND AU. how does kobra as the vocalist work with his semi-verbalness?? or is he not semiverbal in this au?? tell me all about it pls!! /nf

HII YES YES my wifis acting up rn so I havent been able to post about this au but as soon as its back up I'll be band au posting soo much. Okay so in this au I write his autism and semiverbalness a lot like my own and I'm still figuring out like. The vocalistisms. But it's basically like, hes nonverbal until hes comfortable around people and as long as he isnt overstimulated you can't shut him the fuck up. And once he joins the band and starts playing more and gets experience being a frontman the comfortable around people part kind of goes away because he gets really confident and cocky. Like as long as he isnt overstimulated or his voice just decided to turn off for no reason- because sometimes theres just really no reason or predicting it and its annoying- most of the time he doesn't shut up. But also he has his thing where like if he's really pissed off, in this case at bli because this au starts off based within battery city, and theyre trying to 'fix' him and poisons a bit of an asshole sometimes with trying to get him to be like, following the rules and staying safe because theyre in no way loyal to bli but they havent been bitten by the rebellion bug yet ya'know? Kobra kind of drags them into the band and becoming killjoy stuff later on lmao. But anyway hes very pent up and full of rage all the time and theres a fine line between going nonverbal or screaming about it. And once he joins the band- because he finds Ghoul and Sandman jamming out on the street like with buckets and a homemade guitar just to stir up trouble and is like. Wow. And then crows come and everyone scatters and he ends up running with them, then they become friends and once hes comfortable around them and hes just hanging out while theyre practicing or something or just listening to old music and he starts singing along and theyre like. Damn boy you can sing what the hell??!? And hes like oh i dunno at first when they're like bro you should play with us you're good but he ends up going like fuck it and becomes the vocalist and its just like. He discovers he kinda loves it. Its an outlet for everything and the thrill of directly doing something illegal(because music, especially this kind, is outlawed) and dangerous just gives him an adrenaline/seratonin high and he can just let the fuck loose and screams their shitty punk songs.

Then Poison and Jet join the band and they all leave the city(not sandman, hes just there as a jam buddy for ghoul and kobra in the beginning, the suitehearts have their own thing going on that I'll expand on in their own post later). Anyway once the shows over and the adrenaline like wears off usually all the stimulation hits at once and he goes nonverbal like when I'm like hanging out with friends or performing and having a lot of fun but then we all go home and i sit down on the couch and am just like. Oh i had fun but i cant move or talk or anything now. Spoons zapped. Worth it tho. Its like that for Kobra. Shows usually go off without a hitch unless hes had like. A really bad day sometimes he cant sing so he sits aside on an amp like bundled up in a comfort jacket and cheers his band on silently and someone else screams in his place lol. Practices, since they're just chill, sometimes come when he isnt verbal, it just depends on the day yknow, so its like. When he is verbal sometimes he'll randomly start singing if hes working on his bike or not really doing anything like. Oh better get the practice in while i can. Because like i said earlier he isnt self conscious at all, hes a frontman hes a shameless bastard lol.
