Old Deuteronomy being endlessly patient means a lot to me, but particularly his patience with humans.
He'll sit for a solid hour listening to the priests talking to him, and while he does not quite understand the problems of humans, he takes their communion seriously regardless. The nuns have pet names for him that range from dignified to amusing, and he answers and blinks, pleased and friendly, at every one. He allows children to grab at his fur and tail and pet him a little too hard, even as their guardians warn them to treat him with more respect, and rewards them with licks to the hand when they listen and change accordingly. He knows the parishioners by name and scent, and knows which ones to give a wide berth to, and which will treat him with dignity - some of them he has even watched grow up. He sits with widows and widowers who are mourning, and the glint in that old cat's eyes suggest a level of understanding that seems improbable - silly even seeking understanding in a cat - but it's there.
Deuteronomy is so revered and respected by the humans in the area, considering how they speak of him in the poem (or at least how Munkustrap *says* they do), and I just feel like the reverence is deserved.

🍬 🌸 please
Hi d! Thank you for this ask and sorry for taking so long to reply!
🍬 ⇢ post an unpopular opinion about a popular fandom character
I have no idea if this an unpopular opinion but I think that it’s weirder/more outrageous that Carlos has never mentioned or called/visited Iris since she came back (although I have to assume he had good reasons and that they had probably already drifted apart or something). It just seems kinda unlike him.
And I kind of liked what the marriage storyline could potentially say about Carlos character every though it was done too late and poorly.
Not being religious and knowing people who literally married for fun/convenience, I guess I don’t see it as sacred or unbreakable unless that’s what you yourself put into it. And knowing Carlos we know he’s got a tendency to deflect and was probably worried about anything that might scare TK off so I can kinda see him forgetting/not finding it important at first (maybe Iris was also painful to talk about?) and then keeping putting it off. So I don’t think that it’s necessarily this huge betrayal.
What I mean when I say like what the storyline potentially says about Carlos’ character, is that it shows him as both so caring and also rebellious and political - choosing to be married to help out with medical insurance even though I think that’s illegal? At least I think getting married for those reasons are. Also it says something about how desperate he was in that age, and that he had such a close friend!🥺
What I find the worst about the marriage storyline is not the secret marriage itself as a form of betrayal, but everything else lol. Making Tarlos into a relationship where they never talked about stuff?? Like friends and past. Making Carlos into a guy who doesn’t visit/at least tries to get some info/talks to tk about his best friend being missing/found alive because he’s sad or worried? It’s Iris slapping Carlos and being pervasive about the divorce papers. And TK suddenly being all proper and annoyed and scandalized (and frankly a bit ableist maybe?) when Iris is at their home, which I think is so ooc of him!
I don’t blame Carlos, TK or Iris though - I blame the writers for portraying them and mental illness badly and for lazy writing!
Sorry to go all angry-rant!😅 here is one more for you, to lighten the mood (hopefully)
He’s not exactly a popular character, and he is a pretty big a-hole, but
Tumblr media
But I’m not sure I’m not on Pearce’s side here???😅 to my knowledge a first responder captains first priority is to ensure that an operation doesn’t put their employees life in serious danger - and expecting a paramedic to jump into an active minefield without the bomb squat being there is not that😆
I know it’s a drama show about heroes who heroic stuff and happily risks their life in extreme and unrealistic situations and I love the drama and the characters and their selflessness but yeah - in my superior asked me to go into a minefield I would probably also call my union rep😅
(I actually always saw this conflict as the shows way of being a bit self ironic about the extremeness and the unrealistic danger these people are in everyday they’re at work)!
🌸 ⇢ do you have any pets? if you do, post some pictures of them
My parents have a dog, who I love a lot and have lived with for periods of time, and who I helped train and sat in the backseat with on the way home and slept in the living room with the first weeks when they got him🥹
Here is a picture of him doing what a lot of people should be doing more often - touching grass!
Tumblr media
And here is a picture of him jumping up on my bed to say good morning:
Tumblr media
And here is a picture of him being very sleepy and looking at me while I sit up too late being on Tumblr😅
Tumblr media
He’s a 2 and a half year old doodle (or, a retroodle as my dad called him since he’s a mix between a flat coated retriever and a king poodle)
Thank you again!!🌼

101 DRAGON AGE QUESTIONS | not accepting
for the sake of reducing the number of ooc posts i’m answering these all in one and just @ing the people who asked the questions! thank you for them all!
if you sent me one of these btw and rbed this meme yourself and i didn’t send you something, please let me know! i want to send you things back and must have missed you reblogging the meme. this includes non-mutuals.
1. How did you get into Dragon Age? | asked by @kaaras-adaar & @dreamerlavellan
Sort of by accident, actually. It was the summer between my freshman and sophomore years in university (2011) and summertime is generally a time of inactivity and depression because I cannot tolerate the weather here. My dad happened to own Origins and I picked it up because??? Fantasy? RPG?
Starting the game I saw you could play as a dwarf, who have been my favourites in fantasy since a child as The Hobbit is among my favourite books. Then after that I fell in love with the worldbuilding for dwarves and Gorim, my first actual Dragon Age love. I was more or less hooked after that. DA was actually not my first Bioware game, I was obsessed with Jade Empire as a kid so like Origins appealed to me immediately despite being far less fun to play than literally any other Bioware game I’ve ever played. The characters and world more than made up for it.
I beat it relatively quickly and my dad bought Dragon Age II which had come out earlier that day, actually against my suggestion because I’d heard it wasn’t good. And in this instance my dad forgetting something I said turned out for the best because I ended up enjoying DAII more in some respects. While it took me a while to join the fandom as a content producer I was a consumer and certified DA trash from then on.
2. Have you finished all three games? | asked by @kaaras-adaar
Kskjdfs yes. I’ve beaten each at least 4 times, but probably more like 8. The only thing I haven’t played are some of the Origins DLC because as much as I enjoy my replays I am so ready to be out by the end of the game (and I have the worst luck with Awakening bugs) and I also don’t have Sebastians DLC b/c his never goes on sale individually and I refuse to spend more than like $4 on him.
3. How long did it take you to finish the series? | asked by @kaaras-adaar
I honestly don’t know. I think it took me like a week to beat Inquisition without 100%ing it, I’d say my first playthroughs all probably took about that long. I tend not to do everything in my first playthrough. Like shard collecting didn’t happen until round two, etc.
7. Favorite DA:O backstory? | asked by @dreamerlavellan & @fatefaulted
I’ve played through all of them and I enjoy them all except Cousland, but my favourite is Aeducan. I enjoy the politics, the culture, the aesthetic of Orzammar. I love Gorim Saelac and the surprising amount of depth to this character who is designed to be thrown away after the prologue. I love how it ties you to the Darkspawn threat in a bigger way than any of the origins accomplish. I love how it ties you to the Orzammar plot later in the game, and playing Aeducan first is probably one reason why I adore that branch of the game. It’s a good origin that establishes its world really well and has great characters to boot.
11. Share a pic of your favorite OC from any DA game. | asked by @dreamerlavellan
I just want to share pics of my girl and Solas’ future husband.
Tumblr media
Ian Lavellan, non-Inquisitor written by @theshirallen
Tumblr media
Thora Cadash, dwarven Inquisitor and default Inquisitor for this blog written by... me lmao.
22. Favorite DA2 party combo? | asked by @fatefaulted
My main Hawke is a mage Hawke, so this party is horrendously imbalanced, but: Varric, Merrill, Isabela. They all just like each other and I think that’s neat. Although in act one my favourite is probably Carver, Merrill, Isabela / Varric. Unfortunately the game doesn’t want me to have a warrior in my party.
24. Favorite main-story quest from DA:I? | asked by @kaaras-adaar
It’s hard to pick between In Hushed Whispers and In Your Heart Shall Burn. I love seeing the red lyrium’d companions and the dark future of Thedas, and speculating on what happened in the intervening year. I love reflecting on what it must do for the Inquisitor to see that and have it be undone. I think it sets up the rest of the game really well, and in ways Champions of the Just doesn’t do quite as well.
In Your Heart Shall burn is a simpler quest but I think the power and emotions in the quest are so raw. Playing this the first time was riveting and I was on the edge of my seat. The triumph of closing the Breach, the strangeness of your first encounter with Cole (whose appearance at the gates is another reason I prefer IHW tbh, I think it’s more tension building than Dorian’s), Corypheus, crawling through the snow. Capping it off with The Dawn Will Come and the journey to Skyhold idk, it’s just such an emotional high point in the series that every time I replay I get goosebumps.
25. Favorite DA:I place? | asked by @fatefaulted
It’s a tie between the Frostback Basin and the Emerald Graves. I love the lore in both, as elf trash I prefer the lore in the graves especially if I can include the Din’an Hanin into that category. But the Avvar lore and Ameridan is also Very Good, and while I adore the giant trees of the graves the Frostback Basin clearly was able to have more resources poured into its design, and as a result the different sections of the map have so much more character.
A close runner-up is the Hinterlands, as I think the quests there are fun and it feels like home. I enjoy returning to it. Which is good, b/c I’ve played through it... a lot... I think loving it might be a coping mechanism, but also I love the vibe of the early game that’s best captured in the Hinterlands.
32. Favorite DLC mission overall? | asked by @fatefaulted
Trespasser is up there with Shivering Isles as my favourite DLC ever produced. Its hits every emotional beat I think it needed to hit, set up the next game with greater detail and intrigue than the initial epilogue, and I’m honestly dying to get to replay it again on Thora despite what it does to my nerves. The first time I played it I could feel my heart beating faster like wtf me.
37. Blood magic: yes or no? | asked by @hopewrought
Would I use it myself? No. Morally I think it can be reprehensible but also neutral, much like any other magic in the game. In certain characters I think even if used for good it may encourage unhealthy habits, but I think it can be learned to be engaged with in better ways.
59. Who was written really poorly? | asked by @theshirallen you can’t hide behind anon I know it was you
Oghren fucking Kondrat. When I think about the reasons Origins is my least favourite game he is among them. With Oghren there was a really good chance to portray an alcoholic abuse victim, suffering from severe mental health issues, and still mourning his wife, with the respect it deserves. Instead he just... is a gross sexist dwarf and his alcoholism is mostly played for jokes. And then he comes back in Awakening and... continues to be a gross sexist dwarf whose alcoholism is mostly played for jokes.
There could have been some really interesting stuff with Oghren, the Warrior caste of dwarves I think would suffer from issues similar to qunari warriors, where when they can no longer fill the purpose society has dictated they must serve, what then? They can’t do anything but fight. There could be comradery with Sten, or perhaps Zevran or Alistair, or any of the companions who have had the path their lives took dictated to them by societal forces they had no say in (even if they are happy with that direction). There are snippets of good stuff in here, the line “let us show them our hearts, Warden, and then show them theirs” is one of the best of the good-byes the game offers us imo. It’s a shame about what came before.
Like there are other characters, such as Sera, who I think were done dirty by their writers, but Sera at least got some growth in the DLC and there were attempts to address criticism of her character. Oghren in Awakening was just kind of a take two of an already poorly-done arc.
60. Who do you wish had been given more story? | asked by @hopewrought
I wish Briala had more, like that she had some impact on the story in universes where Gaspard isn’t crowned with her as his puppetmaster. She and the elves reappears in that but not if you reunite her with Celene or exile her, and I think it would’ve been neat. I also wish she’d had a chance to interact with Solas in some small way given how many parallels were drawn by one of his own agents during Masked Empire.
I also wish we had more about dwarves in general in 2 and Inquisition. We get some great lore in Inquisition that was set up in 2, but with our only dwarf companion being Varric, who honestly has a relationship with his race that at times is comparable to Sera’s, it pulls a few of its punches. I really think they have dwarves set up to be important players in the next game, with their architecture featuring heavily in the dev diary, buuut no dwarves to be seen. So who knows. Just give me dwarves in the next game who aren’t Varric Bioware pls. Let me kiss one maybe.
61. Favorite NPC? | asked by @kaaras-adaar
I’m not going to count advisors even though they kinda are NPCs and I’m going to answer one for each game so uhh...
Origins - Anora
DA2 - Feynriel
DA:I - Krem
Bonus - Lord Woolsley, the only unproblematic DA character
63. Best story moment? | asked by @ghilannainguideme
It’s a tie between the journey to Skyhold and the talk with Solas at the end of Trespasser and the resulting disbanding of the Inquisition (if you so choose). I really can’t separate them because I think the reason Trespasser works so well is how it calls back to the very beginning of Inquisition and that moment with Solas in the snow. It’s triumphant and sad, something’s ending, the fellowship is breaking, but you know all of you will continue to work towards a better world apart.
In DA:O I think it’d be saying good-bye before the final battle and in DA2 I think the moment where you can tell the Arishok he was right to take in the elves who killed that guardmen is good. Probably one of the reasons why I think Hawke-Arishok work so well as a protagonist-antagonist combination.
81. Favorite fanfic? | asked by @ghilannainguideme
I don’t read a lot of fanfic, actually. Save what I read on here, which I do count, but idk if other people do.
My favourite writers to read are @theshirallen, obviously. Joly wants to tweakIan’s personal quest but I think the version they have written now is still very good and you can find it here. I love reading Peace’s stuff and find their smut especially spicy in the best possible way, you can find a Merrill/f!Mahariel piece here! Gaia doesn’t write on Tumblr much these days, but she wrote a wonderful Tug/Sketch (the companions from Leliana’s Song) that you can find here.
I follow so many talented writers and I can’t list them all but here are a few I can fire off real fast: @theshirallen / @ghilannainguideme / @seahaloed / @sabraelin / @valorcorrupt / @mercysought / @hopewrought / @ofrevas / @skyheld have all moved me with their words at some point, be it in fic or rp.
82. Favorite fanart/fanartist? | asked by @ghilannainguideme
Again I just can’t choose jsdfks.
The easiest way is to just link my Solas fanart tag. Obviously this favours Solas artists, however, so also here’s a link to thedaswlw where there’s a boatload of amazing fanart all of wlw.
Of people I’m mutuals with I know @abracafockyou, @kaaras-adaar, @dalathin (currently inactive but I gotta link them), and @syntharts are all very talented artists.  I’m also a big fan of destinyapostacy, nipuni, elbenherzart, starscollected (on twitter), and many more.
97. What’s your favorite DA mod? | asked by @ghilannainguideme & @hopewrought
I’ll chose one as many as I want to apparently from each game again, b/c why not?
DA:O - I have to admit I find this game hard to mod because nothing can really salvage the gameplay or look of the game. I need Better Dwarf Model so I don’t have to look at the odd dwarf proportions in the game (the women have arms for days). Mostly I have armour mods. I like Grey Wardens of Ferelden so I can match Alistair in the final batte and have everyone in uniforms in Awakening. I do like Kirkwall Exports because I can put Zevran in the robes of the notorious pirate tho. I haven’t used this mod yet but I also love this mod I retweeted this morning.
DA2 - Again, I don’t mod 2 very much. You could probably make some kind of chart for correlating my enjoyment of a game versus my urge to mod it, with the more I love a game means I want to mod it more. With 2 I enjoy the combat and overall design of the characters more so I mostly use a couple of tweaks, my favourite is Ishs Scarf for Merrill which just adds a cute blue scarf to Merrill and hides the fact that elves in this game have weirdly long necks. Oh and a mod to fix the weird hand dirt.
DA:I - Equal Opportunity Solas mod, I bought the game again on PC just to use it. Being able to play Solas/Ian for screencaps was everything tbh. Other mods I enjoy are More Banter, which while I have better luck with banter it is nice to be able to count on it. I installed it this latest pt and I have heard location comments that have never triggered before. Black Hair for Everyone has changed my life because finally Thora doesn’t have grey hair. No Dirt Buildup is also amazing, as the dirt can cause some really weird blotting on PCs that’s especially noticeable on dark-skinned Inquisitors.
99. Where would you live (Ferelden, Orlais, Free Marches etc?) | asked by @heysales
Probably Ferelden. It is fantasy England and hey if I make it past Inquisition maybe nothing will ever happen there again. Somewhere in the Free Marches might also be chill. Not Kirkwall. Maybe Starkhaven? Honestly tho I just want to live in the Frostback Basin. Have a spirit friend. Shake hands with nugs.
101. If you could meet your Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor, what would you say? | asked by @dreamerlavellan
If I met Thora I’d tell her I’m proud of her. She’d be confused, but that’s ok.

1. A very similar ship I like comparing Starco to is KimRon which is one of my all time favorite ships yet it makes me resent Starco even more because even though I know there’s people who say they were more forced than Starco I do not see them that way, imo Kim and Ron is how you do friends-to-lovers right, there were hints as far as season 1 indicating they may like each other but that never undermined their friendship nor their relationship with other characters.
2. And the show even has a whole season of them being a couple, it was shown how their dynamic changed but at the same time remained the same, they still went to Bueno Nacho but also to more fancy places, the two of them (specially Ron) became more mature and faced new responsibilities inside and outside their relationship and overall I think the transition was very natural with almost none of the annoying “will-they-won’t-they” or breakup drama.
3. I am just using them as a comparison because I think Starco could have been better than KimRon but it was developed in such an odd way that Star and Marco’s feeling started to negatively affect their character development and their relationship with everyone else yet the way the fandoms acts is weird: although the similarities and one (in my personal opinion) being better executed than the other, almost everyone in the Svtfoe fandom seem to go head over heels over them
4. While KimRon is the one whose most of time is the one being called forced by their respective fandom and I just don’t understand why is that, I honestly hate the “Will-they-won’t they” when handled poorly or worse when it negatively affects the characters development and I’ve seen this happening a lot with Star and Marco lately while KimRon made effortless the transmission
5. yeet judging from their fandoms I think Starco is the more well received ship between the two , why do you think is that? What’s your thought on each of these ships , Do you think they were well executed and if you could change anything from the way the characters were portrayed to their execution what will you change?
I feel like star and marco were more well received because the fandom just made them so popular with work and fiction and everything they could surrounding them.
People just….really wanted to believe they were different, they were more developed, they had better progression.
But when you go back and look at their progression, it’s so flawed and at times feels so mean-spirited. It doesn’t do a lot of good for their characters and makes the show harder to watch.
And i can’t help but feel like people will look back on this show one day, and feel a similar way they did when DP ended and made their main characters date.
At the time people were happy, but when you look back at it years later, it doesn’t age as well.
I feel like star will be the same way, that if starco ended up canon, at some point people will kinda look back on their relationship and notice their set up kinda was full of flaws.
Tumblr media
I mean if i could change anything i would of avoided doing all this drama from the beginning, don’t get involved with the starco will they/won’t they, keep them friends and change the formula for once.
They’re best friends, but that’s it.
Do what you did for Tomstar with a little better setup, but don’t break them up for the sake of another ship, if you break them up don’t have Tom feel like he’s being pushed from star’s life.
or let them be endgame, have them work through their issues, hell, let STAR work through hers for TOM, do a reversal of what Tom did, that would’ve been a cool dynamic.
“If we can work, there’s hope for everyone”
Let this matter, if you want a monster/mewman relationship with your main character, use it.
let them be a force that goes against what Mina believes, that monsters and mewmans can work and they can get through their differences.
don’t let marco jump from girl to girl for no reason, if you give him a love interest, let it matter and let it affect him if something happens.
Hell, make stomco happen if you want.
I understand breakups can develop characters and and show progression and can be handled in mature ways but do not spend so much time making tomstar this meaningful and go nowhere with it.
Let them matter to the conflict against mewmans and monsters, let them go from exs to better people together.
Let them matter, and let them have a happy ending.
It would’ve been cool to see after everything Tom’s been through, that star wants to be with him and i would’ve given the show props if they had made us believe star would pick marco between them, but in the end chose Tom despite everything he was feeling and his doubts.
and i am sad these ideas for tomstar went down the drain because the ship had so much potential that should’ve been used and would’ve made for an interesting ending that tied into other parts of the show.
And if i ever make a tomstar fic, you better believe i’m going to use these elements.

Thoughts on 2x13 - Part 1
So first of all, I have to say I'm very glad I didn't watch the episode live with the emotions coming in left and right and all the drama happening in the fandom right after the episode.
I watched the episode knowing what's coming, so that was kinda cheating on my part but it definitely helped to focus on everything else happening in the episode.
Overall I can say it was a terribly written episode – it felt like a episode quickly written in case Good Girls didn't get a renewal (season 2 had obviously finished filming when it got its renewal, so they definitely didn't think about whether it would feel out of character or moving too fast.)
Because – and I don't care if I get hate for this – I could see Brio ending up in a situation like they ended up in this episode. But let's talk about the other things first.
Annie and Noah (because it's quick):
I never really cared about them. I don't care about Noah having a kid – trying to make it all okay he did lie to Annie and raped her by deception. So you guys talked it out and now it's okay? No, thanks. And do I think he will leave? Well only season 3 will tell. Also I was low-key grossed out by Annie sitting on the toilet doing her business while talking to Noah. They still know eachother for 5 minutes and I just think it's gross. (I know there are couples who do this kind of stuff but personally my toilet business is my toilet business. lol)
Boomer – Marion – Redemption – WTF?:
First of all: why did we need Boomer to be alive again? After watching episode 12 I was like „okay maybe there is a reason why the writers messed with us“ but now I just think it was really for the shocker and mostly cringeworthy scenes.
The dining room scene was terrible. Who wrote it? Jenna, was that you?
Boomer being like „I'm gonna change my face and nobody will recognize me“. Like what? This felt straight out of a Korean drama (if anyone is watching Korean drama, you all know what I mean). It was way too long, way too over the top and not funny. And then Boomer is coming at the 3 women with Jeff? How does he know about Jeff? Did I miss anything? Did I miss Mary Pat telling him about her husband? People in the fandom, help me out! Did I zoom out while this conversation happened?
But also: I don't get Beth's reasoning here. Ruby is right! Get rid off the rest of Jeff and call the cops on Boomer! Heck, why didn't they tell Boomer about how he should shut up about Jeff when he is dirty himself. All the business in Fine & Frugals aside he is also a rapist.
And then, you have Marion driving him to the cops?
Okay, I know a lot of people don't like it that they somewhat gave these two a half-ass written redemption arc. Like Marion is a racist granny and Boomer is... well he is Boomer. Basically he is trash, okay?
But putting aside my personal aversion to these two, I actually liked that Marion did what she did. In the end she knew Boomer was stealing from her and all that. And the way he ordered her around in the beginning of the episode, I was like „Marion, grow a backbone!“. So in that regard, I liked it.
BUT Boomer got away too easily. Neither Annie nor Mary Pat got their chance to tell him off. Will he go to prison? Or get away just like that? I believe unfortunately he will.
Like I said it's half-ass written and not satisfying at all. Just like the episode overall.
Beth's „reasoning“:
I know Beth is a woman with flaws. To a point I feel second-hand embarassement watching her making the same mistakes over and over again. She does and did many decisions which made me facepalm throughout each episode. But some decisions were reasonable or at least understandable for someone without any experience and a certain naivety. We can't expect Beth to be this professional criminal, just like Rio is.
As some pointed out she does make rash decisions when she feels cornered but in this episode I couldn't make sense out of her decisions at all.
How exactly would it help her to pay Boomer money for the crazy facial surgery and for everything else? I'm Ruby in this scene who can't make sense of Beth. Didn't she learn a thing?
If you don't take care of your rotten egg it will spread like a disease – if there is one lesson Beth should remember it's this one – and Boomer is certainly someone who would always come back no matter what, to blackmail and for more cash.
Same with her turning herself in. It showed she was always the caregiver in this group of 3 women and I understand she believes that turning herself in would stop Turner going after the Hills and Annie.
BUT again this falls flat because why would you turn yourself in for the murder of Leslie Petersen aka Boomer when he is alive and well? It would've made sense IF Beth, Ruby and Annie didn't know Boomer was still alive and they genuinely thought the body was his. But that's not the case.
I can't believe they didn't come up with something else. Any fan theory/idea was better than what the writers gave us in this episode.
It's such lazy writing.
Beth the „King“?:
This makes no sense to me at all, not just throughout the whole last bit of the episode but the show so far.
I know some in the fandom wouldn't mind Beth doing her own business without Rio. And all I can ask is: but HOW!?
It's not like I wouldn't agree but if anything that would be a plot I could see happening at the end of season 3 if well-written. In the end we want Beth and Rio to be equals and that can't be achieved – even with a 50/50 deal. Why? Because even with the 50/50 deal, Beth is still 100% not involved in anything going on behind the scenes. For example how Rio perfected his counterfeit money business or his „drug“ business.
I'm also pretty sure Rio didn't tell Beth his recipe how to make the fake cash as legit as possible. In the end he can't trust her enough with these details.
Yes, she can google stuff but I had to laugh quiet a lot at Beth being so proud for producing fake cash with Dean's printer. Okay...
(Also on a sidenote: is it healthy to bake money in chemicals in the same oven you would usually cook your meals in?)
And she is bringing in a random divorced mom who is a designer? Since when is she friends with someone else aside from Ruby and Annie?
I know everyone got to start somewhere but if the season finale proved one thing for sure: it's Beth not being ready for what is ahead of her. She is high on power but to me she came out as weak after shooting Rio. This isn't how I wanted to see Beth to get her own business – again makes no sense at all how she can do it and make as much cash as Rio. He worked for YEARS in this crime world – and certainly she is no King to me.
But I think she will realize that pretty quickly in season 3 that everything isn't that easy. And I can't wait for her to come in touch with other – far less pleasant than Rio – gangsters in town. Plus with her way of not dealing with problems it's likely not going to end well for her.
Dean – Redemption? - WTF 2.0:
The worst thing for me in this episode apart from the shooting scene was probably how they portrayed the relationship between Beth and Dean.
It's Boomer redemption all over again. Lazy writing 101.
But fair enough I didn't see it as Beth and Dean coming back together. I just think in this episode full of self-inflicted turmoil and stress she sought comfort in the person she had been with for 20 years. That's all.
Which doesn't excuse that Dean basically got away with the following things:
he is a cheater. Like he cheated multiple times on Beth.
and he used the lie about sex addiction as a reason why he cheated on her because she wouldn't let him touch while she suffered from post-partum depression.
Dean is also a lying liar because he lied about having CANCER in season 1 because he wanted to keep his property aka his wife.
he undermined Beth's abilities as a businesswoman – let's put aside the crime stuff, she is a LOT better at Dean's job which he HATES.
he also reduces Beth to being a housewife and mother and talks down to her – I've not forgotten his sandwich cookie cutter comment.
he is also unable to get another job because we know how he is, he is unable not to con his own customers and possible future employers can see that from a mile away – but Beth is like „well then it wasn't meant to be?“ like what? Are you serious?
And all seems forgotten now and we get to see Beth and Dean and how they probably were as a not really happy but at least functional couple.
It's almost as if the writers try to gloss over Dean's nonsense because if you look at what Beth did and does it's far worse than what Dean did.
And that's terrible! It's not okay. Because Beth had to do what she did because of Dean! Dean is the reason for all the crap going down in Beth's life. If anything she should blame Dean, not Rio and maybe not even herself...
I can't watch Good Girls as a tv show for female empowerment when Beth doesn't get to call Dean out on his bullshit. And he has the audicity to ask „what went wrong with us?“??
You went wrong, Mister! And Beth didn't get to say it because her look says it all but she just wants to avoid any further conflict.
And that's not okay. It's like the writers gave Beth a muzzle in these scenes and wouldn't let her say what she obviously thinks.
And I’m not even sad about Beth and Dean getting along as parents. Like that's a good decision. Because in the end they have 4 kids and they should be functional as parents.
I'm simply baffled how poorly written Beth's and Dean's conflict is or the lack of addressing it. And that the writers apparently want to have these two in the same house for another season.
I simply have no words anymore.

Seven’s Route
Please keep in mind that all of this is merely my opinion & just how I felt about the route in general. Seven wasn’t my favorite RFA character before I delved into his route & even after finishing his route, though I feel I have a better understanding of him, it didn’t change my opinion much of him. I don’t hate him by any means, he’s just not the character for me (& isn’t that really the point of otome games – to find the character you like the most?)
Also, while writing this I have not yet completely the secret endings so any issues I may address in this could very well be answered in the secret endings & I’m just not aware of it yet. Please, no spoilers.
Overall, it was a combination of too many aspects going on in the game, too many character facets, the overall poor character attitude, & weak MC that put me off the route.
After finishing Seven’s route, I am left feeling as though it was the most unrealistic romance out of the bunch. I understand that there is only 11 days & it is very hard to try to work an entire plot & character connection in such a short amount of time. I felt the personality shifts for Seven were extremely drastic & left me with whiplash.
I have the most problem with the various personalities that Seven portrays. He claims 707 is the fake happy go-lucky goofy him, Luciel is the dark/dangerous secret agent, & Saeyoung is the sad/serious/tormented real him. Combined, all of this just felt like an overwhelming whole. Which part were you expected to “fall in love with”? Some of y’all will say “all of him” which is a fine answer, if he doesn’t explicitly say in his route that 707 & Luciel is not who he is.
By the time MC tells him that she loves him in the route, you don’t know Saeyoung yet, you only know 707/Luciel. At the end of his route he’s finally “Saeyoung” but… who is that? I’m left feeling neglected - not knowing who is the real him (before someone tells me to read the secret endings, that’s not what I’m talking about here. I’m talking about him, in his route, from day 1 to day 11). So you fall in love with this happy dorky nerd, only for him to flip the script & suddenly he’s this super serious person ardently praying in front of you (Also does this mean he’s going to stop being so blasphemous by calling himself God Seven? Cause that’d be great)… & you’re expected to be ok with that?
I guess really, I’m just left with asking “Ok, but who are you?” Is he really going to drop all these other aspects of himself, because 1) that doesn’t seem fair to him 2) I can’t find it in myself to believe that those personality traits were entirely an act 3) Saeyoung is an empty shell that we know next to nothing about.
I honestly just don’t see what makes him a great character. I don’t relate to him (except for maybe covering your sadness with a happiness mask so as to not burden others) but I can empathize with him. I recognize & understand his tormented past – it’s sad, it’s wrong, no child should have to go through that, his parents were both clearly shit people, & he did what he thought was right for his brother. He’s not the only one that had a tormented past though. His backstory is more played up, laid out nicely in front of your face so you fully understand what is happening, it’s more explicit than other routes (to the point it overshadows the suffering & pain the other characters dealt with), so you sympathize with him more readily. Does that mean I have to like him & love him? No.
Seven’s MC is also my least favorite. Do you have a backbone? An opinion? Do you care about what’s happening? Are you not going to speak up for yourself at all? All her answers toward good/normal endings were catered to just mirror whichever mood Seven was showing at the time. She’s a mood-MC, with no personality of her own. I really really hoped at some point she would get firm with him, tell him off, demand he have a conversation, or get the fuck out of the apartment all together & pull a “new phone, who dis?” on him. Something, ANYTHING! But instead she just sat around, pouting over the phone, & let him berate her until he decided to change his mind. No thanks.
If I wasn’t actively trying to get good/normal end, I would have bad ended by giving the answers I actually wanted to give. I found in other routes, it was easy to get good/normal endings & with Seven I had to remind myself “choose the better answer for him.” As soon as he went into “emotional lockdown mode” while sitting the apartment, I lost interest. I’d heard that his route was emotional – that’d I’d be sad, & my heart would bleed – but I just felt annoyed. It felt like a chore to play his route once I got to those days of him ignoring you & lashing out. Again, no thanks. I didn’t sign up for cruelty today – I’d rather be locked up in Jumin’s apartment. Yes, I understand he was doing it to push her away, to keep her “safe”, but it was executed poorly & childishly on his part. You know what else would have kept her safe? Not staying in an apartment with a bomb with the short tempered man who had installed said bomb.
This route left me with have a bad taste about V in my mouth. I already was highly suspicious of him after Yoosung’s route but after Seven’s I’m downright anti-V at the moment. Something is clearly going on & it is seriously about time he speaks up about it - ask other people to help, because he obviously has no real control of whatever damn situation he is trying to handle or thinks he is handling - & people are getting hurt because of it. Therefore, he is to be held responsible. Running away doesn’t make him look any better either.
Vanderwood I am intrigued by. I really liked their “no nonsense” attitude. I don’t have much else to say on that. Cool character so far, I’m looking forward to more, so I hope they are in the secret endings. If not… well shit.
As for Saeran I still don’t like him, but this man has had a horrible past. Also, what the hell kinda potion concoction were they forcing down his throat or were they waterboarding him? I was so confused. He needs some serious help. V screwed up somewhere if he made a promise to keep him safe, cause that shit clearly didn’t happen.
Overall, Seven’s route was a lot to digest. The sheer capacity of information thrown at you leaves you feeling unfulfilled when nothing is actually answered in the end. I’m left questioning who Saeyoung even is yet remain indifferent & almost not concerned with finding out more about him. I felt the writing for him tried to create him to be too much, too many aspects, that he just falls flat/shallow. Nothing about him feels developed to me, I don’t feel the depth of his character like I do with the others (Again, yes I know I need to do the secret endings, but I’m talking about his route).
I’ve noticed with otome games it tends to bother me if there is a “canon/true route.” I don’t mind that he’s the poster boy for the app, that’s all fine & dandy. I don’t mind that he’s given a lot of attention in the fandom since everyone has their own favorite. What I don’t like is being driven/herded to like a certain character just because they’re “canon.” Why does one route have to be more canon than the others? Isn’t the point of these types of games all about choices?
I don’t hate Seven. I don’t love Seven. I’m just sort of meh about Seven err… Saeyoung.
