#and then get pissy when people write the child abuse storyline with nuance and depth
Text
I genuinely don’t know how to articulate how much I despise the “well, they were too broken and sad so it’s better if (insert x thing that erases a characters autonomy, usually death) happens to them!” thing like. you do realise mentally ill and traumatised people exist in real life. you do realise pushing the narrative that it’s better for mentally ill and traumatised people- people who already feel like a burden and like people would be better off without them- died is actually harmful right. it’s bizarre how i see people that throw fucking hissy fits over non romanticised depictions of sensitive real issues never bat an eye about this too. like it’s problematic to depict survivors trauma in a realistic and thoughtful way but it’s oki doki to say they should kill themselves. society just fucking hates survivors so much.
