what's your color headcanon for Shadowsight? I personally imagine him as a black smoke with ghost tabby
Thanks for the ask! 😸 However I have to start with this: right now i'm only at the last book of A Vision of Shadows. So for me Shadowsight is just a kit with some concerning visions, and i don't know much about him or his siblings. This means my opinions on the family can and probably will change when i get to know them better.
Tumblr media
I wrote Shadowkit into my family tree as blue blotched tabby. Blue can get very dark, so i think it passes the "dark grey" description, and I like that he isn't a perfect copy of the tigers but a "diluted" one.
Tumblr media
However I have to admit i like yours too! Dovewing is silver for me, so black smoke is perfectly within the possibilities of her and Tigerheart's litter, and it looks cool. I'd keep the blotched ghost pattern.

The Order to Read the Warriors Books
A guide by me :)
Start with the first arc: The Prophecies Begin
This probably goes without saying but yeah. first arc first. The books in this arc are Into the Wild, Fire and Ice, Forest of Secrets, Rising Storm, A Dangerous Path, and The Darkest Hour.
After these, read Firestar’s Quest. While you can go on to to second arc after the first, reading Firestar’s Quest will clear up pretty much any questions you may have with the second arc.
After FQ: Read the second arc! This arc, The New Prophecy, includes Midnight, Moonrise, Dawn, Starlight, Twilight, and Sunset.
Then the third arc: Power of Three. This includes The Sight, Dark River, Eclipse, Long Shadows, and Sunrise.
(IMPORTANT: IF YOU DO NOT WANT ANY SPOILERS, DO NOT READ LEAFPOOL’S WISH BEFORE THE THIRD ARC!)
Then, you guessed it, the fourth arc: Omen of The Stars. This includes The Fourth Apprentice, Fading Echoes, Night Whispers, Sign of the Moon, The Forgotten Warrior, and The Last Hope
Next, of course, the fifth, sixth, and seventh arcs, but you can Google the books in those arcs for yourself
Now for Super Editions
Super Editions are books that take place separate from the main timeline. While you can pretty much read them at any time, here are the times I don’t suggest reading them
-Do not read Bluestar’s Prophecy before you’ve finished the first arc
-Do not read Leafpool’s Wish before you’ve finished the third arc
-Do not read Hawkwing’s Journey before you’ve finished the fifth arc
-Do not read Onestar’s Confession. Ever.
Also: The Novellas
The Novellas are similar to Super Editions, but much shorter and come in groups of three in one book. Here are some suggestions for that
-Spottedleaf’s Heart involves grooming. Please avoid it if that is something that triggers you
-Do not read Mothing’s Secret before you’ve finished the second arc
-Do not read Tigerclaw’s Fury until you’ve finished the first arc
(Those are all the suggestions I can think of atm, please comment if you have any more! Happy reading!)

Note
Have you read Crowfeather's Trial and Hawkwing's Journey yet? Those two are some of my favorite super editions, so I was just wondering what you thought of them.
Not yet but Im excited to get to them ^w^
Hawkwings Journey is next up once I finish avos though! But I have quite a ways to go with that arc, Im only nearing the end of the first book now OTL
Im especially excited for Crowfeathers SE I think hes such a little asshole (affectionately) I want to see from his perspective and get inside his brain

Whatever the next series is, I certainly hope it ignites some real, actual change in the series - I want swathes of these old characters to die so we can get fresh, new perspectives. I want shakeups to the Clan society. I want this to be the last we see of Ashfur, for real, for good.
My ideals:
A strong premise (like The Broken Code has) that manages to last throughout the series
STRONGER CHARACTERIZATIONS - I do not want another Bristlefrost situation, and if the main PoV characters are meant to be friends by the Gods let them be friends.
If there MUST be a ThunderClan PoV, I hope it’s one of Spotfur’s kits, though it will likely be Bristle/Root babies
RiverClan PoV - this Clan is RIPE for story, esp if they choose to make the PoV the new medicine cat
No more Sisters - I think Squirrelflight’s Hope + Broken Code have done enough with them for now. Unless they’re actually going to explore their society more, let them be happy elsewhere
WindClan PoV
Mistystar + Reedwhisker die and, on that note, Bramblestar dies too, and maybe Leafstar OR Hawkwing - we need more leadership shakeups and more opportunities to see new characters shine
Old characters die. C’mon, it’s time. Let them go.
EDIT: I would ask for a timeskip but I do not think that will be happening in this next arc. The series desperately needs either a timeskip or a spinoff series like DotC that takes place somewhere between DotC and Cloudstar’s Journey but I know that’s not where the series is headed atm.

SOOO this will be a long post
context: during night whispers in oots, feathermist (jayfeather equivalent) is overwhelmed with stress and emotion that he decides to go with stormheart (stormfur) and brook to go to the mountains, despite boartusk screaming at him not to. while there, he has a nightmare of the clans being destroyed and goes home without telling anyone. he finds that because he was gone, the dark forest has taken over the clans. basically, in my rewrite, there is a 'head' of starclan and the dark forest. they dont fade away, but the existence as they know it of starclan and the dark forest hinges on them. if they are killed by another cat from their afterlife, they ake over. but if they are killed from an outside source.. bad things happen. for awhile, this cat for the dark forest was one eye. but when tigerstar died, he killed one eye and took over. this cat for starclan was gray wing, but as he tried to defend the clans against the dark forests' surprise attack, he was killed. this banished starclan away forever, and made them unable to come into the living world or send dreams to living cats (though later, leaders find out they still get nine lives, they just don't have a ceremony. they fall asleep at the moonpool and wake up without seeing any starclan cats). anyways, the clans were merged into one big clan under tigerstar's rule, forced to worship the dark forest. most cats were brutally killed, especially old cats and cats deemed by tigerstar "not fit to serve him". the one good thing sunchaser has done was hide briarlight in the twolegplace so she wouldn't be harmed. okay so the prophecy cats are trying to figure out what to do. dovewing begs ashflake to do SOMETHING to help her. and he actually does, for once. he tells her that before he came into her body, he witnessed something: cherryflight was alive in the tunnels. dovewing tells feathermist and sunchaser, and they do to find cherryflight. ivypool stops them, still loyal to the dark forest. but dovewing convinces her to let them go. they find cherryflight and kill tigerclaw. the end! except literally most of the clan cats are dead :[
alive cats:
thunderclan: thornsnap (thornclaw, who is elected the clan's new leader), mousewhisker, feathermist, squirrelflight, sunchaser, cherryflight, icecloud, dovewing, ivypool, rosepetal, honeyfern, molepaw, pepperpaw (cherrypaw), brambleclaw (though mortally wounded), daisy, sandstorm, antkit (honeyfern's kit)
windclan: gorsefire (gorsepaw who lives, is elected the clan's new leader), heathertail, kestrelflight, crowfeather, nightcloud, squallstrike (breezepelt), hootwhisker, sedgewhisker, featherpaw, oatpaw, leaftail, harespring, slightfoot, tigerkit (sunchaser and heathertail's kit), frecklekit (sunchaser and heathertail's kit)
riverclan: willowshine, mothwing, hollowflight, minnowtail, havenpelt, sneezecloud, beetlewhisker, reedwhisker, podpaw, curlpaw, lakeheart, harekit, gorsekit, dapplekit, softkit
shadowclan: murkystar (blackstar), tawnyspark (tawnypelt), spruceheart (tigerheart), snowbird, sparrowtail, wasptail, berryheart, sleekkit, juniperkit, strikekit, needlekit, pinenose, puddlekit, slatekit, birchkit, lionkit
outside of the clans: briarlight, brook, stormheart, fern (fernsong, who is a kittypet), flip, bristle, lark, thrift, stem, sol, earth
with that out of the way. these are the 'books' though i imagine them more like novellas within the same big book
book one:
pov character: antkit
thunderclan is in ruins, but has the most surviving warriors out of any clan. brambleclaw gives up his place as deputy, as he is incredibly injured. he asks squirrelflight to be leader, but she refuses. everyone agrees that thornsnap should become leader, as a surviving senior warrior. thornstar wants everything to return to how the clans once were. antkit becomes feathermist's apprentice. he soon realizes that squirrelflight is pregnant again and tells thornstar, who is outraged that she is still in a half-clan relationship. squirrelflight decides to leave and join windclan.
at the next medicine cat meeting, antpaw realizes that riverclan is doing worse than thunderclan because they have no leader or deputy. they cannot agree on who should become leader: reedwhisker, mistyfoot's son and the most likely candidate that she would choose as her deputy, or mothwing, who was once deputy. shadowclan also has no trained medicine cat.
brambleclaw is dying, and squirrelflight returns with crowfeather to witness his last moments. thornstar relents and the clans agree that half-clan relationships should not be against the new code. squirrelflight has her kits, two toms. who she names maplekit after her father, and bramblekit after her dear friend.
feathermist and antpaw go into the twolegplace to bring briarlight back. he learns she had been taken care of by a kittypet named fern, alongside his four kits. fern agrees to join the clan with briarlight.
book two:
pov character: tigerpaw
in windclan, tigerpaw and his sister frecklepaw have recently been made apprentices. ever since he was a kit, he felt as though heathertail didn't like him. and with the new rules, tigerpaw is excited to go to thunderclan to meet his father. but he soon realizes that sunchaser is an aging, bitter tom, nothing like the hero he thought he would be.
suddenly, news comes out that shadowclan has annexed riverclan by force. but murkystar isn't working alone. two strange cats named sol and earth have come to shadowclan, claiming to be in contact to starclan. sol predicts the eclipse to prove this. he says that starclan wants the clans to become one strong clan. the other clans are outraged, claiming that that's what tigerstar wanted to do. but murkystar is too far gone to listen.
tigerpaw decides that he isn't wanted in windclan or thunderclan, so he joins shadowclan, much to frecklepaw's horror. there, he meets needlepaw, sleekpaw, and juniperpaw (who is training under willowshine to be a medicine cat). he especially bonds with sleekpaw and juniperpaw, who were orphaned in the great battle. as well as earth, who is his age. and was also abandoned by his mother and father, and was taken in by sol. tigerpaw relates to this. needlepaw is the only cat that tigerpaw doesn't get along well with, mostly because she doesn't necessarily trust sol.
however, riverclan is suffering under shadowclan. they aren't treated fairly, and are thought more of as soldiers to do murkystar's bidding than clanmates. but tigerpaw thinks this is for the best. but with needlepaw, he begins to question why starclan would want this. but juniperpaw and sleekpaw shame him for thinking this. he sees minnowtail sneaking out of camp, but keeps quiet for now.
third book:
pov character: frecklepaw
in windclan, frecklepaw is coping with her brother's absence. soon, skyclan appears at the edges of the lake territory, and frecklepaw convinces gorsestar to allow her to greet them, desperate to escape the clan and her family situation.
there, she meets hawkstar (hawkwing) and leafdapple, who retired before the journey. she tells them about the clans' situation, and about sol. leafdapple is shocked, and recognizes him as the kittypet that she turned away in the gorge. she realizes that he must have come to get his revenge on the clans by turning the clans against each other.
frecklepaw returns and realizes that gorsestar and thornstar plan to raid shadowclan to forcefully release riverclan. frecklepaw tries to get tigerpaw to listen to her and return home before he gets hurt, but he refuses. but he does believe that sol is a fraud. frecklepaw gains her warrior name, frecklecreek. she realizes the only thing left to do is help riverclan by herself.
in secret, she meets with minnowtail to plan an uprising.
fourth book:
pov character: minnowtail
minnowtail tries to drum up support from her riverclan clanmates, but they refuse out of fear. she is turned into murkystar, but manages to escape before she is killed. she shows up in thunderclan to gain help from them and windclan. frecklepaw fears for her brother's safety, and wishes they could peacefully do something. but minnowtail assures her that they will try to avoid too much death.
the clans try to warn murkystar to surrender before fighting happens. but sol assures him that starclan wouldn't let them lose. with no other options, the battle begins.
im getting kinda lazy at this point, but shadowclan is defeated and riverclan is released. sol is chased out. earth surrenders. murkystar is demoted to an elder, and tawnyspark earns her nine lives. riverclan agrees that minnowtail should be their new leader. they begin to start to revise the code, but recognize that the clans will always be changing and adapting.

Hey look, an AU to Power of Three, haha let’s get to explaining.. So obviously, the first thing off the bat we notice, is our three favorite kitties to create AU’s around! Look away for a second to the bottom, “There will be three, kin of your kin, and they will hold your blood in their claws”. Pretty different from the original prophecy, I know right? Anyways, I came up with the bright idea of switching the protagonist and antagonist. Firestar and Tigerclawstar have been switched, the second series is... Wack. And the fourth... Eh. Now, these three and Sol have switched. But let’s start all the way back to Firestar’s Quest. Firestar finds SkyClan alone like normal, but realizes he’s more connected to cats there, and since he isn’t good at goodbyes... Takes on the role of a warrior again, and just leaves quietly. Couple of moons pass, and the clans decides Firestar has died. Sandstorm, not liking this, leaves as well to find him. She finds him in SkyClan, and yells at him for a while, but they both decide to stay in SkyClan because I said so. They still have Squirrel and Leaf, Leafstar isn’t named leader, Sharpclaw is, Hawkwing is his deputy , yada yada. Squirrel finds love in Rainfur, they’ll prob have kits idk. Leaf decides to journey on because she’s gifted and is connected to StarClan. She finds the chosen cats (Bramble, Feather, Storm, Crow, and Tawny) and falls in love with Storm instead. Feather dies as usual, but Leaf is there to help him. They all go separate ways, but Storm and Leaf promise to meet once every other moon at the area where Feather died to pay respects (Brook doesn’t exist in this universe). Graystripe chose Brackenfur as his deputy, and is Graystar atm. Storm had left RiverClan after Feather left, and went to live with his father, who happily accepted him along with his new clanmates. Storm tells Gray what happened, and he’s devastated. The clans all eventually move and stuff, and once they’re all settled, Sol is found wandering ThunderClan territory. Storm and Leaf are still meeting, and Leaf eventually gets pregnant with kits, Hollykit, Lionkit, and Jaykit. SkyClan is thriving and still in secret, only Storm knows of it as the ThunderClan cats who remember Firestar leaving for SkyClan think he died with Sandstorm out there and there never was a SkyClan. Leaf asks Storm if she can come to ThunderClan to have his kits. Storm realizes that he could be found out as a code breaker, and doesn’t want to disappoint his father (Gray has secret kits with Millie, so Bumble, Briar, and Blossom are “random” rogues he “found”). Storm declines all to quick, and Leaf is disappointed. She doesn’t visit the next time they plan to, and is exiled from SkyClan because Sharpstar found out about her having kits with a cat outside the clan. Squirrel goes with her so Fire and Sand know that they’ll have each other. Leaf has her kits in Leaf-bare, and takes care of them as a rogue with Squirrel. Leaf slowly starts losing sanity, and forces Squirrel to train them to hate the clans. Sol is a rogue who studied SkyClan, and followed Leaf to her last meeting with Storm. After Leaf leaves, Sol goes up to Storm, and offers him reassurance. Sol for the next few moons, helps out around ThunderClan, but never becomes a full warrior. Holly and Lion as kits would tease Jay for having bad eyesight (he wasn’t born blind). As they grew, they found out that they could trick cats, Squirrel and Leaf were killed by some rogues, and had saved Holly, Lion, and Jay from being killed. They all plotted, and decided on simple roles, the Brains, Brute, and Bait. Jay was used as the Bait, since he was scrawny, had bad eyesight, and smaller from his siblings. Lion was the Brute, since he was the strongest of the three. And Holly, the Brains, she came up with their plan on getting revenge. Holly decided to wound Jay, bad enough to him looking vulnerable, but not enough to where he couldn’t fight. Lion clawed at his eyes, and gave him a huge ass scar on his right shoulder. Jay’s eyesight died out because of the claw marks on his eyes, and the blood dripping into his sockets, but he didn’t say anything. Holly knew this would happen, and helped him to his spot. Lion waited in a tree (Squirrel has taught them all the moves she knew from SkyClan) and pounced when the four cats (the ones who killed Squirrel and Leaf) came. He was barely touched, and killed all four (Jay and Lion have their same powers, as StarClan thought they’d hold the ‘stars’ in their paws, Holly was given leadership and the power to make cats speak the truth). The three continued doing this for about two years. Sol, on the other hand, chose his path as a medicine cat, and became Sunpaw of ThunderClan, under Cinderpelt. Gray got the prophecy “There will be three, kin of your kin, and they will hold your blood in their claws”. Gray tells Bracken, Cinder, and Sun about this. Cinder decides to go to the moonpool to ask StarClan more on this. Cinder is killed by the three, and never returns home. Sunpaw was named ‘Sunsmoke’ by Graystar, and they basically forget about the prophecy. About a year later, Holly, Lion, and Jay arrive to ShadowClan, and are taken in (Blackstar was having a bi panic attack at Holly, Lion, and Jay). They make their first appearance to the clans as the ShadowClan warriors Hollythorn, Lionstorm, and Jaytalon. Jay was challenged before the gathering, and had beaten Russetfur because of his swift movements. Sunsmoke goes into a vision, and sees the drawing shown above (without the text) and cats staring up in horror at them (or the missing sun?). He is shaken by the scene and tells Gray after the gathering. Storm recognizes some of Leaf in the three, and wonders if those are his kits. All the same happens, with the roles reverse, the three acting as friends towards ThunderClan, and the fighting and plans still happens. Sun in covered with the three in front and yada yada. In the end, Gray is killed with Storm but the three. A lot of plot holes, but I just thought of this yesterday so..

Graystripe’s Vow
A quick overview, chapter summaries.
31 chapters + prologue + epilogue + manga
Prologue - FQ
BloodClan is planning on getting revenge on Firestar’s Quest era ThunderClan. They are lead by a new leader, Fury.
Gremlin is worried about this, since she is pregnant and doesn’t want to hurt her kits.
Chapter 1 - TBC
Graystripe is realizing he’s old.
Lionblaze looks like Sandstorm, Spotfur has Frostfur’s face, (Frostfur is Ravenpaw’s sibling.)
Thriftear, Thornclaw, Snaptooth, Flywhisker and others disrespect Squirrelflight because she’s not technically leader.
Squirrelflight talks with Graystripe about being deputy/leader. “You can say it, Graystripe. In many ways, Firestar’s ThunderClan was better... at least things seemed easier.”
Graystripe worries about StarClan returning.
Chapter 2 - TBC
Graystripe dreams about being in the (lake) forest with Firestar. The dream turns and Graystripe feels dread. Graystripe imagines Millie and “talks” it out with her. (...) Graystripe asks Brackenfur if “this is the same ThunderClan as Firestar’s ThunderClan.” Brackenfur says it is.
Plumstone and Thriftear get into a fight. They both call Graystripe (and StarClan) an “out-of-date boomer” (exact quote /j) then Thornclaw, Twigbranch and Lionblaze argue about if Squirrelflight is leader or deputy. Bumblestripe, and then Bristlefrost try to break up the fight but fail. Squirrelflight ends up begging them to stop :(
Flipclaw suggests they rewrite the warrior code while StarClan is gone. The Clan flips out and Flipclaw then says maybe he wants to spend some time outside of the Clan. Snaptooth agrees, Flywhisker agrees, and Thornclaw agrees.
Graystripe decides to “wander” with them. Squirrelflight feels betrayed. She gives them a moon to return.
Chapter 3 - FQ
Graystripe ponders life. Willowpelt, his mother, has died. (...) He overhears Brightheart and Ferncloud doubting the purpose of Firestar’s Quest. (not the book, just why Firestar left.) Ashfur and Cloudtail also think Firestar left to live as a kittypet. Mousefur trusts that Firestar isn’t a kittypet, but wants to know where he is.
Cinderpelt yells at Ashfur. (...)
Brambleclaw, Thornclaw and Brackenfur bring Graystripe a dead rabbit with WindClan scent found on their territory (near fourtrees.) Graystripe decides to do nothing about this but increase border patrols, much to the chagrin of the Clan.
Graystripe goes to sleep with troubled thoughts, and is awoken by somebody screaming.
Chapter 4 - TBC
Graystripe and the boys decide to stop and hunt while they are still in the territory. Hawkwing and a SkyClan patrol appear. Snaptooth spills the beans and embarresses Graystripe and the others.
Flywhisker asks if Graystripe wants to rest while they hunt, but he goes hunting anyways. He catches a rabbit. Graystripe contemplates returning to the old forest.
The other warriors talk about how much easier it is to hunt for four. Flipclaw tells Flywhisker that if she were to have kits he’d make sure she’s wellfed. Flywhisker tells him she isn’t interested. He tries again but she shoots him down.
Snaptooth asks what they will do now. Flywhisker wonders what it would be like to be a kittypet. Thornclaw gets sick of this and leaves.
Graystripe tells the others that he wants to visit his son, Stormfur. He hopes that by visiting his “past” he can understand his future.
Chapter 5 - FQ
The screaming was Brightheart. She is giving birth. Graystripe is terrified that she will die like Silverstream. Cloudtail gathers herbs for Cinderpelt.
Graystripe welcomes the kit into ThunderClan and pats himself on the back for doing nothing. Then he realizes that Firestar would done something and not just stand around, and feels ashamed.
A few days later, Thornclaw, Sootpaw and Brambleclaw return with more proof of WindClan hunting on their territory. Ashfur says this wouldn’t be a problem if Dustpelt were deputy.
Graystripe doesn’t know what to do. Mousefur enters camp and tells him that Russetfur wants to speak with Firestar.
Chapter 6 - TBC
The others are nervous about leaving Clan territory. Graystripe has enjoyed hunting.
Suddenly, dogs. They climb trees and a human comes and takes the dogs away.
Later that day, Graystripe tells them that he wants to go now. Flywhisker, Snaptooth and Flipclaw tell him he can go without them.
Flipclaw changes his mind and comes with Graystripe.
Chapter 7 - FQ
Russetfur and Rowanclaw demand to speak with Firestar. Graystripe tells them that Firestar is busy, so they can speak with him instead. Turns out they’ve scented BloodClan on Clan territory. ThunderClan overhears this and instantly smack-talks ShadowClan. (Rowanclaw’s pronouns are switching paragraph to paragraph. *EDIT: I might just be bad at reading... thanks for telling me lol!)
Graystripe tells his Clan that he thinks BloodClan are the ones pretending to be WindClan and causing trouble. Cinderpelt agrees.
Graystripe, Dustpelt and Brambleclaw go to inspect the BloodClan smell, but get jumped by BloodClan troopers. Graystripe sees Gremlin and knows she’s fit to burst.
Fury tells them that she knows that Firestar is gone. BloodClan attacks and defeats Graystripe. They throw him under a fence to get eaten by a dog. The dog is locked in a house, so he survives.
Graystripe heads back to the forest, but encounters Gremlin. She lets him escape. This confuses Graystripe.
Chapter 8 - TBC
Graystripe and Flipclaw make it to the Tribe’s territory. Flipclaw is excited to tell his littermates about this. They encounter two Tribe cats, Moon Shining on Water and Thorn that Grows in Clef.
Graystripe and Stormfur have a sweet reunion for two sentences. Graystripe meets the kits. Flipclaw hits it off with Feather. They are very VERY good friends, (probably a bit more than friends.)
Stoneteller mentions a rogue who had come around asking for Clan cats.
Chapter 9 - TBC
Graystripe tells Stoneteller about all the Bramblestar and ThunderClan problems. Stoneteller has sensed a shadow over the Clans. He tells Graystripe that Graystripe still has a long journey ahead. Graystripe goes to sleep.
A tribe cat tells Stoneteller that the boys Flipclaw and Feather were out hunting, but got trapped in a landslide. Graystripe goes with Stoneteller to help.
Feather manages to get out, but Flipclaw is still stuck. It takes all day, but they get Flipclaw out. Flipclaw’s leg is dislocated.
Graystripe sees Feathertail standing on a shiny rock, and takes it as a sign that he must find the moonstone.
Chapter 10 - FQ
Graystripe returns to camp. He asks Dustpelt if he knows that Ashfur wants him to be deputy. Dustpelt is surprised.
Ashfur talks smack about Graystripe getting beat up by BloodClan (same energy as “im built different”) Brambleclaw reminds him that there were too many BloodClan cats for two and a half warriors to fight.
The next day Graystripe tells ThunderClan they must prepare for BloodClan again.
Chapter 11 - TBC
Graystripe wants to leave the tribe immediately. Stormfur asks why he doesn’t just stay forever. Graystripe considers it, but still wants to go to the moonstone.
Flipclaw is still recovering. Graystripe tells him about the moonstone, and Flipclaw tells Graystripe that he wants to go home. They part ways.
Graystripe thinks about Silverstream and Millie again. He hunts a mouse and spots Highstones. He nearly gets hit on the Thunderpath.
Chapter 12 - FQ
Still worried about BloodClan, Graystripe is startled by Shrewkit and Spiderkit playing. ThunderClan is on edge. Graystripe decides now is a good time to tell the other Clans that BloodClan is back.
Graystripe takes Cloudtail and Rainpaw to WindClan. Tallstar believes Graystripe about BloodClan and sends Firestar his well-wishes. They go to RiverClan and meet Stormfur. Leopardstar is angry about BloodClan, and sceptical about Firestar.
Stormfur and Feathertail escort them off RiverClan territory.
Chapter 13 - TBC
Graystripe makes it to Highstones. He thinks about visiting Barley.
An owl scares him, and then a pack of monsters scare him. He escapes and hides in a bush. A fat kittypet stumbles upon him, but leaves to get dinner. Graystripe feels lost.
Graystripe dreams about Millie’s death. He wakes up and smells the river. He sees sunningrocks.
Graystripe gets attacked by a cat.
Chapter 14 - FQ
It’s the gathering. Graystripe is nervous about BloodClan still being in the forest.
Leopardstar and Blackstar are sceptical about Firestar’s whereabouts. She announces that there was a fox on their territory, but that *Mistyfoot chased it off.
The leaders agree to share news of BloodClan with each other throughout the moon.
Graystripe talks with Stormfur and Feathertail, similar to what he says to them in A Shadow in RiverClan (that they are welcome in ThunderClan.)
Chapter 15 - TBC
Graystripe realizes the kittypet who attacked him is not alone. There are five others. They introduce themselves as WarriorClan! Monkeystar, Bugeater, Fireface, Bigteeth, Clawwhistle, and Chester. They are larping as clan cats during the day, and returning to their humans at night.
Smudge is still alive, and has told the kittypets all about the warriors. They ask if Firestar is with him. Graystripe says he isn’t, but that he is a real warrior. Monkeystar asks him to prove it by fighting her, and he wins.
Graystripe decides to stay with WarriorClan for a little bit, and teaches them how to hunt.
Near sunset, Graystripe decides to leave WarriorClan. Monkeystar bids him farewell. Graystripe finds Four Trees, and is distressed about its destruction.
Chapter 16 - FQ
Graystripe is hunting when he hears someone in the bushes. It’s Gremlin. She wants to give birth to her kits somewhere safe. She says that ThunderClan is the only place she’d want to have her kits. She wants her and her brother to be safe too.
Brackenfur appears and says that they can’t trust Gremlin. Graystripe and him argue a bit.
Graystripe goes home and tells Cinderpelt about Gremlin. Cinderpelt decides to go to the moonstone and ask StarClan.
Chapter 17 - TBC
Still trying to get out of the twoleg place, Graystripe finally gets to the exit. He feels like he’s being followed, and lo and behold WarriorClan wants to see the moonstone.
Graystripe tells them that they can just wait outside for him. They agree and they all set off. When they are closer, they smell a stranger!
WarriorClan is ready for a fight, but the stranger tells Graystripe that they are Gremlin’s kit, and that he had vowed to help Gremlin no matter what. They asked if he would help them too.
Chapter 18 - FQ
Graystripe is going with Cinderpelt to the moonstone. He thinks about Gremlin while he waits outside.
Graystripe falls asleep and dreams about Firestar. Firestar turns into Fury and tells him to wake up. Cinderpelt is back and tells Graystripe that he’s got to make his own decision, and to beware the snake bite.
Graystripe does not find this encouraging.
Chapter 19 - TBC
The stranger, Fang, tells Graystripe that he escaped from an abusive twoleg’s den and wants to go back to get his mate. His mate, Daffodil, is sick and might die (like Gremlin did) in this twoleg’s house.
Graystripe agrees to help but first he wants to go to the moonstone. Bigteeth, Bugeater, Fireface and Chester head back to their humans.
Graystripe enters Mothermouth and asks StarClan to forgive him from trespassing and asks for help.
Lightning strikes!
Chapter 20 - FQ
Graystripe meets with Gremlin at Smudge’s house. Cinderpelt tells Gremlin that one of her kits is upside-down, and that the birth might be hard.
Fury drops by and asks Smudge if he wants to join BloodClan. He stands his ground, and she tells Gremlin that there will be a Clan meeting.
Graystripe calls a Clan meeting himself and tells ThunderClan about Gremlin. The Clan is divided about her, but Cinderpelt helps convince them that Gremlin needs their help.
Ashfur loudly objects, but Cinderpelt helps convince the Clan that Gremlin needs their help and means no harm.
Chapter 21 - TBC
Lightning struck the moonstone and destroyed. Graystripe is terrified. He runs back to Monkeystar, Clawwhistle and Fang and tells them. Monkeystar suggests they go to Barley.
Fang asks if Graystripe is his father. Graystripe tells him no, but that he is proud of him nonetheless. Fang is disappointed.
Barley is shocked that Graystripe is still alive. Barley is very old, and doesn’t move much. Monkeystar and Clawwhistle hunt a mouse for him.
Graystripe asks Barley what he should do, and Barley suggests he sleep on it. Before he sleeps, he hears Fang ask if Barley knew Gremlin.
Chapter 22 - FQ
Back at Smudge’s house, Gremlin and Graystripe have a meet up again.
Gremlin tells Graystripe that BloodClan will attack in two days, when the camp is at its weakest (all the patrols are out and the patrols who have returned are already tired.)
Chapter 23 - TBC
Graystripe spends the day listening to Barley telling Fang about Gremlin. They go to sleep, but Fang seems unhappy.
Fang tells Graystripe that Gremlin died in the twoleg den that he had escaped from. Fang wants to leave now and free all the other cats too.
Chapter 24 - TBC
They head out. WarriorClan wants to come with, but Graystripe says it’s too dangerous. He convinces them to stay with Barley.
Graystripe enters the house through a window. The house is unkept, and all the cats are starving. It’s not great. The twoleg is very very old.
The twoleg shuts the window while he tries to figure out an escape route.
Chapter 25 - TBC
Graystripe speaks with the cats. He learns that Fang used to be named Honeysuckle.
The cats try to come up with ideas of how to escape. The twoleg’s favorite cat, Petunia, shoots down the idea of attacking the twoleg.
They make a plan to prop open a door, but it fails. Graystripe feels hopeless.
Chapter 26 - FQ
Graystripe tries to orchestrate a normal day while preparing for a battle with BloodClan. He sends the elders Goldenflower and Frostfur on a “patrol” near twoleg place to scout out BloodClan and the apprentices to the training hollow where they can avoid the battle.
Fury enters camp and the battle begins. The apprentices disobey and try to fight BloodClan.
Cinderpelt tries to sneak Gremlin out of the fighting, but is spotted by Fury. Snake and Ice try to stop her, and Scraps tries to stop them. Scraps dies.
Graystripes is about to kill Snake when Fury yells at him to stop. She threatens to kill Gremlin, and the other cats stop fighting too.
Chapter 27 - FQ
Graystripe notices that Fury has been fatally wounded, and tells her if they leave the Clans alone, Cinderpelt can treat her wound. Fury refuses, but starts dying. Fury then decides she wants to live, and ThunderClan wins.
ThunderClan finally apologizes for not trusting Graystripe. Graystripe talks to Cinderpelt about StarClan’s message, then goes and visits Gremlin. Gremlin is mourning Scraps, and decides that being in a Clan is too violent for her.
Gremlin decides to become a kittypet, so Graystripe vows to always help Gremlin if she asks. (thats the name of the book fellas we did it)
Chapter 28 - TBC
Graystripe speaks with Daffodil, Fang’s mate. She is very weak. He is worried that Fang has abandoned them.
Later, Fang returns with WarriorClan, and WarriorClan pushes up on a loose board. The kittypets are able to escape. Petunia wants to stay.
A mail man arrives and calls animal control. The cats leave the house but don’t go far. The older cats want to go and get captured, and Daffodil does too.
The elderly human is taken away in an ambulance, and Petunia wants to stay at the house until she returns. Graystripe convinces her she can still wait, but she has to escape the humans first.
Fang is sad that Daffodil is gone, and Graystripe has no idea how to comfort him.
Chapter 29 - TBC
Graystripe comforts Fang.
The escaped cats decide to part ways, either becoming loners, going off to find human caretakers, or joining WarriorClan (and moving to Barley’s barn.)
Graystripe is ready to retire to the elder’s den again. He realizes that it is possible for Clans to exist without StarClan, like WarriorClan has and is. Fang is upset and doesn’t want him to leave.
Graystripe asks Petunia to be the medicine cat, and encourages her to take on an apprentice in case her human ever comes back. WarriorClan feels like a real Clan now (to Graystripe and Fang.)
Graystripe prepares to leave.
Chapter 30 - FQ
ThunderClan is back to normal. Firestar is back!
Graystripe tells Firestar that he is not fit to lead, and that he is happy just being deputy. Firestar is just happy to be back.
Chapter 31 - TBC
Graystripe sleeps in Barley’s barn and tells him what happened. Barley is glad the cats escaped, and that they are welcome in his barn.
Graystripe is spotted by a hunting patrol and Stormfur greets him. He tells Stormfur that he is returning to ThunderClan, because he’s realized he doesn’t need StarClan to tell him that ThunderClan has changed. He has come to terms with it.
Stormfur is frustrated that Graystripe won’t stay, but calms down and enjoys the rest of the evening with his father for the last time.
Graystripe makes it to the lake, and is excited to be back in the home he loves.
Epilogue - FQ
It’s the gathering. All the Clans are surprised that Firestar is there. Firestar announces BloodClan’s second defeat, and the Clans chant Graystripe’s name.
Manga - TBC
A moon later. Monkeystar says that WarriorClan is thriving, but that she is insecure about her leadership skills. Fang is a good deputy, but Petunia keeps leaving for days.
Monkeystar decides to go and find Petunia. She, Bugeater, Lily and Clawwhistle travel to find the human’s house. They get attacked by kittypets, and are chased off. They find Petunia at the human’s house, rundown and abandoned.
Petunia doesn’t want to leave the house behind, but knows in her heart that her human will not return. Lily convinces Petunia to come home, albeit regretfully.
Monkeystar comes up with a plan to help Petunia move on. She takes Petunia to the shattered the moonstone.
Petunia returns joyfully. Gremlin’s ghost had appeared to her, and tells her that the old human is dead but at peace. Gremlin encourages Petunia by telling her that her Clanmates need her.
The patrol returns to WarriorClan, reinvigorated.

SkyClan Murder Chart:
Tumblr media
Leafstar: it’s no surprise that Leafstar is relitivly old. She’s actually been leader longer than Onestar, and he’s been dead for a while. Also since SkyClan has been on their own for most of her leadership, she would have less lives than normal because they aren’t any other clans to help them. I also just want to see who Hawkwing would make deputy
Frecklewish: I find it weird how there are two SEPERATE Frecklewishs. Like, how??? It didn’t make sense the first time because Freckle’s can’t have wishes, but how on earth was this name used TWICE!? Is this some kind of practical joke??? Not to mention we already have Fidgetflake who’s name isn’t that much better because it sounds like he either has dandruff or is a cereal brand, but I don’t think SkyClan will need two medicine cats that bad.
Sparrowpelt and Cherrytail: I don’t really know how old Sparrowpelt and his sister are because I haven’t read a single book with a SkyClan perspective except Dawn of the Clans and half of Cloudstar’s Journey, but I take it that they’re pretty old. Or at least old enough to retire. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Macgyver: I actually don’t know if he’s old enough to retire, and I don’t nessacaryily want him to retire that bad. I admit it would be cool to see him as deputy. His name is pretty amazing with the fact that he was named after the guy who could make contraptions out of anything and get out of situations. Just don’t kill him.
Dewspring: I mainly want to see Dewspring dead so Rootspring can get some classic “my mentor died and now I have to do this alone” character growth. I may be evil. I really just wanted him to die because he had kits with HIS COUSIN and I don’t want Nectorsong to go because her name is cute. Dewspring also just seems like the kind of guy to die, y’know what I mean?
Sagenose: I couldn’t tell you who this man is. I doubt anyone would miss him sooooooo. You must die now, I am not sorry.
Mintfur: Same with her. I really don’t see why she still exists.
Nettlesplash: I really wanted at least one of the dudes from his litter, and Plumwillow and Rabbitleap are precious so it had to be this guy. I also have a character that shares the same name as him and I can’t stand for that so die.
Quailfeather and Pigeonfoot: I can’t really remember why I chose these guys aside from the rule that if you are part of a 3 and above litter, one of you must die. I can’t remember why I chose two but these dudes names aren’t that special so go and die I guess.
Fringwhisker: yet again, he is part of a four cat litter; Nectorsong, Gravelnose, Palesky, and Fringewhisker are all apart of the same litter. I picked this dude because his name is the worst out of all of them.
Fallowfern: she’s an elder and naturally, all old people must die, I don’t make the rules. (yes it do)
That is it with my Clan Murder Chart series! I hope you enjoyed my hot takes on who should be murdered in cold blood next! I’ll be here all day!

random but UUUH whered u get that cool pic of all the warriors books, where u kinda can cross of which ones u have? because this is like super handy hwhdjend thank for taking thr time reading this please have a nice day
Here you go! It’s built in part from one I found online that was out of date and separated the novellas and their collected editions into different slots which annoyed me.
Note: this is not in reading or chronological order. You definitely have to read the SkyClan super edition books and comics before you read the aVoS Arc, you definitely shouldn’t read some of the novellas before the books that they spoil, and you definitely shouldn’t read Yellowfang’s Secret cause it sucks.
Tumblr media
Recommended reading order:Warriors- The Prophecies Begin Book 1: Into the Wild Book 2: Fire and Ice Book 3: Forest of Secrets Book 4: The Rising Storm Book 5: A Dangerous Path Book 6: The Darkest Hour Super Edition: Firestar’s Quest Manga: Ravenpaw’s Path (Three books) Super Edition: SkyClan’s Destiny Warriors- The New Prophecy Book 1: Midnight Book 2: Moonrise Book 3: Dawn Manga: Tigerstar and Sasha (Three books) Book 4: Starlight Book 5: Twilight Book 6: Sunset Manga: Winds of Change Warriors- The Power of Three Book 1: The Sight Manga: Graystripe’s Adventure (Three books) Book 2: The Dark River Book 3: Outcast Book 4: Eclipse Book 5: Long Shadows (NOTE: a character named Brightspirit and her parents appear in this book who seem like they are going to be very important. They are actually a one-time tribute to a girl who was a big Warriors fan and her family who died in a tornado in 2008. Its weird and confusing if you don’t know that.) Book 6: Sunrise Novella: Leafpool’s Wish Manga: SkyClan and the Stranger (Three books)
Ok so next are a bunch of prequels that you could read at any point, in any order, but ideally you should read them AFTER The Prophecies Begin book 6 and the SE’s you should read BEFORE the Omen of the Stars book 1 Novella: Mapleshade’s Vengeance Novella: Goosefeather’s Curse SE: Bluestar’s Prophecy SE: Tallstar’s Revenge SE: Crookedstar’s Promise SE: Yellowfang’s Secret (This one really sucks. I don’t recommend reading it at all, way too many major contradictions with the first book)Novella: Cloudstar’s JourneyNovella: Pinestar’s ChoiceNovella: Spottedleaf’s HeartNovella: Redtail’s DebtManga: The Rise of ScourgeNovella: Tigerclaw’s FuryManga: A Shadow In RiverClan
Warriors- Omen of the Stars Book 1: The Fourth Apprentice Novella: Mistystar’s Omen Book 2: Fading Echoes Book 3: Night Whispers Book 4: Sign of the Moon Book 5: The Forgotten Warrior Novella: Hollyleaf’s Story Book 6: The Last Hope
Warriors- Dawn of the Clans (note: this fifth arc is actually a prequel. You could read it now or after everything else) Book 1: The Sun Trail Book 2: Thunder Rising Book 3: The First Battle Book 4: The Blazing Star Book 5: A Forest Divided Book 6: Path of Stars SE: Moth Flight’s Vision Novella: Thunderstar’s Echo Novella: Shadowstar’s Life (back to the main timeline) Novella: Ravenpaw’s Farewell Novella: Dovewing’s Silence Novella: Mothwing’s SecretSE: Crowfeather’s Trial (So, this was written after the next arc and the epilogue comic contains a few spoilers for A Vision of Shadows, but I think it’s kind of necessary to read right after Dovewing’s Silence. The Last Hope suggests Breezepelt finally GETS IT, Dovewing’s Silence suggests he doesn’t, and then if you don’t read this you’ll wonder why he’s not a major villain for the next arc) SE: Bramblestar’s Storm
Warriors- A Vision of Shadows Book 1: The Apprentice’s Quest Book 2: Thunder and Shadow SE: Hawkwing’s Journey Book 3: Shattered Sky Book 4: Darkest Night Book 5: River of Fire SE: Tigerheart’s Shadow Novella: Tawnypelt’s Clan Book 6: The Raging Storm SE: Squirrelflight’s Hope Novella: Tree’s RootsNovella: Pebbleshine’s Kits
Warriors- The Broken Code Book 1: Lost Stars Book 2: The Silent Thaw Book 3: Veil of ShadowsBook 4: Darkness WithinSE: Graystripes VowNovella: Daisy’s Kin Novella: Spotfur’s Rebellion (? Haven’t read it yet. Could be during book 3 or 4)Book 5: The Place of No StarsBook 6: A Light In The MistWarriors- A Starless ClanBook 1: River
Field Guides (probably don’t read these until you’re done with everything else. Ultimate Guide contains spoilers through Dawn of the Clans) 1- Secrets of the Clans 2- Cats of the Clans 3- Code of the Clans 4- Battles of the Clans 1&3: Enter the Clans (This is just a book that combines Secrets of the Clans and Code of the Clans) X: The Warriors Guide (This is just bits and pieces of the other 4 guides) 5: The Ultimate Warriors Guide (The description of what happened to Ashfur is so wrong you should just not even read it.)
Weird online content that has plot holes and doesn’t fit the story at all and basically you just should only read if you accept they’re dumb crap written for children: -The Elder’s Concern (you could be mistaken for believing this is AU fanfiction of the end of book 1. It’s not, its just a mess.) -The Sun Trail: Bright Stream alternate chapter -A Forest Divided: Tall Shadow alternate chapter -Spottedleaf’s Honest Answer -After Sunset: “The Right Choice?” and “We Need To Talk” (actually I really love these) -Brightspirit’s Mercy play- The Clans Decide short story -The first five books in both DotC and AVoS (and presumably TBC) have a bonus chapter. Not all published editions contain the bonus chapter! I had to find the AVoS ones online
Woo! I think I got em all. Sometimes books will have minor to major mistakes that will be really confusing when you come across them. Thankfully the warriors wiki has mostly accurate sections on every book’s page for “Mistakes” because this is a bunch of dumb rushed kids books written by a team of authors with no series bible.
EDIT: Updating this as more books come out. Not sure yet where Blackfoot’s Reckoning, Leopardstar’s Honor, or Winds of Change are gonna go

Hey. I’m like so so late for this but... Warriors 20 questions let’s go
How did you get into Warriors? I picked up the first book from the library and loved it and proceeded to read the whole TPB arc in like a week lol. Then took a break for a couple of years (I tried Midnight but immediately despised Brambleclaw so that ended quickly). I then started playing Roblox roleplays about a year ago and so got back into my obsession with these crazy cat books!
Favourite arc: Has to be TBC. DotC is in close second though.
Favourite book (excluding SE, novellas and mangas) Hmmmm... It used to be Lost Stars and it probably still is now. It says in my old response that it’s ‘engaging from the get-go.’
Favourite SE, manga or novella: used to be Crowfeather’s Trial but now probably Squirrelflight’s Hope.
Favourite Clan: ShadowClan OFC!! I love how they work for redemption and actually work to be better. I remember in Night Whispers (I think) ShadowClan lost a battle and actually spent time working out how to improve for next time, unlike ThunderClan for example who would just mostly whine about it. That’s when I fell in love with them.
Favourite character: Crowfeather. He just makes me laugh. Don’t hurt me or my angsty, sassy boi ok?
Least favourite character: Bramblestar. I hate how they work him up on such a pedestal and use the same plot points over and over with him! Also how he treats my Squilf...
Most aesthetically pleasing cat: Leafpool? Leafstar? Bristlefrost? I’m not really sure but I always imagine those three to be really pretty. Tho I guess Spottedleaf must truly be the most pretty of all if Firestar still loves her when she’s beyond the grave.
Favourite leader: Used to be Leopardstar but now my girl Leafstar. She’s the only one with a decent head on her shoulders imo lol
Favourite villain: Sorry Mapleshade it’s Ashfur. Finally we have a villain with a motive beyond power and... being evil lol. Saying that Mapleshade was pretty epic ngl -  on top of being a female villain. Please, Erins, give us more female villains!
Favourite medicine cat: Leafpolo my beloved or Shadowsight
Overrated character: Ummmm maybeeee Firestar?
Underrated character: Jagged Peak maybe? Idk for these ones lol
Favourite minor character: Mousefur my sassy, moody little bean
Favourite pairing: I’m a sucker for LeafCrow okay? You could probably tell - there’s a bit of a theme here...
Least favourite: I have a strong dislike to Spottedfire.
Favourite friendship: I love Briarlight and Jayfeather together! I can definitely see why people ship them.
Favourite moment: Idk maybe but I love Bristlefrost’s death. Don’t get me wrong, I was devastated, but I really think that it was the way Bris should always have gone. Not much can make me cry when reading - the only other time was Grey Wing - but that hit home.
Most tragic death: Bris and Grey Wing
Favourite battle or fight scene: Either Hawkwing’s Journey when he attacks Darktail, the battle in TBC where it’s ShadowClan, SkyClan and the rebels against everyone else, or Needletail’s fight to the death.
On that cheery note, that’s my very very late Warrior Cats 20 questions! I hope you enjoyed and of course these are just my opinions and yours are just as valid and correct! No judgement to anyone who disagrees!

Warrior Cats
My opinion (rant) on all the clans. May contain spoilers.
ThunderClan: Can the other clans have the spotlight? I honestly got off the series, Omen Of The Stars, because of the main characters are from ThunderClan.
Can they stop being the hero clan? Basically same reason as the spotlight, but why should this clan have to be the heroes? Firestar was cool and all. But let some other leaders be cool.
Why does this clan take up two pages? Have they never heard of population control? Some of these cats need to be elders by now.
Medicine Cat: Thanks for Jayfeather!
ShadowClan: Brokenstar, Tigerstar, and Darktail. Feel bad for this clan being taken over so many times.
Population has been ruff with this clan. Cats leaving, cats dieing from sickness, cats not trusting eachother. Goddamn. But hopefully they’ll start to come back. (Though Tigerheart broke the code and left the clan and was still made leader. *cough cough*)
WindClan: Get more medicine cats, have some super editions, and don’t fuck up. Like with Onestar. Why the fuck didn’t Onestar just kill Darktail instead of running away and closing the border?! He should have just killed him! Granted he hasn’t seen his son in like forever.
I would like to see this clans population go up. Also WindClan was originally my favorite clan.
RiverClan: Get. Your shit. Together! I know this clan is rebuilding camp, but by the title of the next book I think shit is going to go down. Hopefully Mistystar doesn’t do the same shit like WindClan and this time around it’s something interesting.
Population is okay in my eyes and maybe some more super editions for this clan.
SkyClan: Loved Hawkwing’s Journey. Hated that the other clans didn’t know about them. They just got here and suddenly everyboby wants to kick them out!
Damn Leafstar! You ain’t playing!
Population gets boosted by kittens. Population gets boosted by missing clanmates and thought to be deceased clanmates. And oh shit! ShadowClan too!
I don’t ship Finpaw and Twigpaw. Finpaw should have stayed and be pissed at her like her sister.
Main Cats: Fuck Twigpaw. Rather have Sparkpelt or any other ThunderClan cat.
Violetshine. You’re awesome. And got your mother’s name! Aw!
Alderheart sweetie calm down. Just because you’re frustrated with your father and other clans, doesn’t mean you have to blame StarClan. I mean they are dicks but thank them for letting Jayfeather stay alive.
And that’s it! Going to sleep now.

Lit Review: Warriors: A Vision of Shadows: Shattered Sky
Tumblr media
Book Title: Warriors: A Vision of Shadows: Shattered Sky
Author: Erin Hunter (Cherith Baldry)
Spoiler-Free Verdict: We wanted more Sol, so the Hunters gave us bootleg Sol.
My rating: 2.5/5
Complete, spoiler-ridden review under the cut:
Our word of the day here is acquiescence, a noun that means a reluctant acceptance of something without protest. Why do I bring up this SAT-like word? Because it showed up. Twice. In a book meant for elementary or middle-school children.
When I started reading this book, I thought that I was reading one written by Kate Cary. I have witnesses that saw how I, confused by why I was not understanding anything that was going on, looked up the author and screeched with horror that this was actually written by Cherith Baldry. But I’ve already complained about Baldry’s writing in my Hawkwing’s Journey review, so I won’t go into detail here.
Right off the bat, we are put into a battle sequence that is confusing and filled with more characters than I remember. Lilyheart’s kits suddenly have their warrior names and are used freely, which makes it hard to follow who is on whose side.
I feel like too much time has passed between the last book and now. Blossomheart and Thornclaw are on the verge of having their first litter of kits, but didn’t the Hunters say that Thornclaw would never have a mate, let alone take on Blossomheart?
I digress. There are a few things I liked about this book. Although I liked him, I’m glad that Purdy died. He was incredibly old, especially for a wild cat (although it’s true he started off as a kittypet, but for the state of his pelt he was quite the miracle.
It always interests me when new kits are born and a leader dies. Although the kits were literally thrown at us at the start of the novel, I’m interested in what the four new kits will contribute to the Clan. Harestar, too, will have a lot to live up to as WindClan’s next leader. Who will he choose for a deputy? Part of me thinks it will be Crowfeather, as he once mentioned his desire to be the deputy. Usually it is someone of importance to us; Rowanstar was Tawnypelt’s mate and the pseudo-female, Mistystar was Bluestar’s daughter, Onestar was Firestar’s friend, and Bramblestar was a protagonist.
Of course, we really did not know much about Harespring. He was a Dark Forest warrior, but he was easily forgiven (especially since he was promoted very soon after the battle.
SkyClan is finally back with the Clans, and I’m pleased to see their battle tactics were necessary to defeat Darktail and his Kin. Hawkwing’s proposal to his kits will make an interesting subplot for the next three books, as will their lack of a medicine cat.
Alderheart and Brambleclaw’s father-son moments were nice, as were Alderheart and Sparkpelt’s moments. Too bad they were a little short.
But believe me, there were bad parts.
While I’m glad there was a specific reason for Onestar to be afraid and be a jerk, having a mate and kit does not really fit his character. While he was in the forest, Onestar was friendly and trusted Tallstar- especially since Tallstar is his half-uncle. I doubt that he would hide this for so long.
Having Smoke hate all of the Clans and not just Onestar is ridiculous. Darktail’s whole past is ridiculous. Don’t lie, Erins. You just came up with it for this one book.
As a side note, if they had mentioned that Darktail looked like Onestar or tipped someone off about his deal with the WindClan leader, then I would have forgiven this sudden revenge story.
The reunion between Twigpaw and SkyClan was too short and too anti-climactic. Once again I have to ask myself why one cat- and an apprentice at that- could do what many patrols of experienced cats could not.
Also, the fact that the entire prophecy led up to ‘save these kits so that one of them can find an entire Clan’ is kind of a let down.
We finally get to see Echosong’s death, something I had complained about in Hawkwing’s Journey. But we still don’t know what happened to Needletail or Dawnpelt. Needletail surely died, but after her portrayal as somewhat-villainous, she should have had a better end that made the reader like her. Dawnpelt’s, too, is an end I would have preferred to see. She was a hero, despite my initial hatred of her when she accused Jayfeather killing her brother that was never resolved, and should have had an end that we see rather than shrug and move on.
Rowanstar forgave his warriors too easily. He just told them to say sorry and he let them go.
Darktail and Onestar’s deaths were honestly hysterical. The fact that it took up one half of a page (probably around one hundred words) was terrible, and when you realize that both just sort of beat each other up slowly underwater and did not think to resurface for air (there was no sign of a struggle in the water; the lake never rippled once they went under) it’s a joke. Good-bye, super-evil cat who took over the Clans. You were drowned by an old fool.
I am starting to suspect that Warriors books are written with only one draft, and the editor just doesn’t care about a flowing plot. They just want the money.
I could go into more, nit-picky detail regarding the TigerXDove shipping and the age of Mistystar versus Onestar, but I think that has been done to death already.
These are, of course, my opinions and reflect my years of reading Warriors and growing tired of the same plots over and over again. I mean no disrespect to the authors or the fans, and only wish to express what I thought of the books.
That’s all I have to say for Shattered Sky. Happy reading!

Hawkwing’s Journey Review
Tumblr media
In obvious set-up for the new series, the Erins have given us a third SkyClan themed Super Edition, but this time things aren’t looking good for the fifth Clan. We jump into the story as Hawkpaw, soon to be Hawkwing, an ambitious young cat who loses his confidence after an early life tragedy. I was really glad to have another SkyClan book as they are a favourite Clan of mine, though I wasn’t quite sure about the premise for the book, especially since it had been hinted In The Apprentice’s Quest that SkyClan was coming into the main story. I was not disappointed in my worries.
What was good: I think Hawkwing’s inner thoughts were quite well written. In more recent books this isn’t something that you always get but in this case I think it was well done. He was more understandable than most characters, which I appreciated. Seeing as SkyClan is going to turn up in the new series, most likely the next book, so the existence of this book is important or we wouldn’t really understand anything that was going on. The idea for this book was good, the execution is a different story. It’s also good that we now know who Twigpaw and Violetpaw’s parents are (well, probably).
What was ‘meh’: The rushed and sloppy writing made it hard to enjoy the good bits and feel sad at the tragic bits. A lot of important moments were ruined by terrible choices by the authors. I can’t say I’m impressed by the quality of this book, but the story was good enough for me to not hate it.
What was bad: SO many characters died in this book. Probably one, maybe more, on average per chapter. The book was WAY to heavy and too much important stuff was happening too quickly. I felt a bit betrayed by the Erins to be honest. Its normal to brace yourself when reading the Warriors books for the imminent deaths of your favourite characters, but everything just went to shit in Hawkwing’s Journey. This book was also just tragic. By the end of it I felt like crying. Cats like Leafstar and Hawkwing seemed to have been targeted as the main focus points of the ‘tragedy’ and it broke my heart.
Overall verdict: I can’t say I liked this book for any reason except it being a Warriors book. So yeah, not that great. I think the Erins need to calm down a bit and focus on writing even slightly better stuff than just getting the books out ASAP. I see a lot of people talking about how they love it because it was so emotional. Yeah it was emotional but it was also rushed and poorly written. I’m disappointed.
Stats:
Favourite character: I didn’t really like any of the characters that much
Least favourite character: No specific cat, but I was really annoyed at some particular cats by the end of it for the bad decisions they made. I hated Darktail too. This is all his fault. Also Leafstar get some sense after Sol how can you not see how evil he is???
Characters killed (and are confirmed dead): 12
Characters missing (most suspected dead): 8
Cats who left the Clan: 5-8 (uncertain)

!SPOILER WARNING!- WARRIORS ARC 6 AND 10TH SUPER EDITION
Here’s some in depth analysis of the covers and blurbs for Tigerheart’s Shadow (Super Edition 10) and Darkest Night (Series 6, book 4) which just released this past Monday (the covers/blurbs, I mean).  Release dates:
Tigerheart’s Shadow- 09.05.17 Darkest Night- 11.07.17  Here’s the analysis for the titles, covers, and blurbs for these books.  Tigerheart’s Shadow:  Here’s my analysis of the title, cover, and blurb for Tigerheart’s Shadow:Title: Tigerheart’s Shadow. Obviously Tigerheart is the POV. But maybe it’s a dual POV with Dovewing. Maybe not. So what’s with the “shadow” part? Well, I’m guessing it’s not his literal shadow. d: It’s metaphorical. The kind of vibes he gives off as a cat. He looks like Tigerstar, as mentioned before, and in a Gathering in Dark River, when Tawnypelt had kits, there were gasps of surprise when “Tigerkit” was announced. I’m guessing some cats harbor feelings of superstition towards Tigerheart because he’s Tigerstar’s kin and shares many things with him, right down to his name and status within the Clan. This might be similar to Bramblestar’s arc. Tigerheart needs to overcome this and realize he’s his own cat, not the echo of a terrible cat that’s gone before him. That’s my take on this, anyway.Cover: Okay, nothing much is given away here. Font and stars are in black…will this be a dark Super Edition? Maybe? I might be reading into things. Other than that, nothing much to discuss. Tigerheart’s obviously on the cover.Blurb: A thrilling stand-alone adventure in Erin Hunter’s #1 nationally bestselling Warriors series! After suffering for so long under Darktail’s horrible reign, ShadowClan is struggling to rebuild. Tigerheart has always been a loyal ShadowClan warrior—but an omen from StarClan suggests that the only way for Tigerheart to help save his Clan may be to leave it, and the forest, behind. Set during the events of the current Warriors series, A Vision of Shadows, this Warriors Super Edition takes Tigerheart and the ThunderClan warrior Dovewing on a quest to save one of the proudest warrior Clans. This extra-long, extra-epic adventure follows in the bestselling paw steps of nine previous Warriors Super Editions—and features the fantastic, eye-catching repackaged series look! Bonus! Also includes an exclusive Warriors manga short story. Before I start off, I’d like us to take a look at the release dates. This comes out 9/05/17, whereas Darkest Night doesn’t come out until 11/07/17. After a few years of SEs being released in November, this will be weird. But that’s not relevant. Will Tigerheart’s Shadow take place before Darkest Night..? Will it overlap? No doubt it happens after Shattered Sky. I’m guessing HC thought a while about this, because the release dates switched a lot. At one point, they were even set to be released on the same day. Maybe it starts before Darkest Night, with some overlap. That’s my guess. HC wouldn’t spoil the fans, so this is probably why Tigerheart’s Shadow comes out first.I’d like to say how glad I am that this isn’t Tigerheart’s retelling of Omen of the Stars. I didn’t really want that. No offense intended to those who did.Alright, so the blurb. This confused me with its vagueness. “After suffering for so long under Darktail’s horrible reign…” this isn’t what confused me, though. d: It’s clear this takes place after Shattered Sky and Darktail is defeated then. I wonder if they killed him off, or he ran off somewhere with his rogues. Guess we’ll see. And “so long”? What’s with that? Darktail only just took over ShadowClan by the end of Thunder and Shadow. Maybe Shattered Sky covers a long period of time…? I dunno, sure seems like it.“….ShadowClan is struggling to rebuild.” Okay, it’s clear there’s some sort of huge battle in Shattered Sky involving ShadowClan and Darktail’s rogues. I’m guessing ShadowClan stays with ThunderClan until they can fight back Darktail’s rogues during Shattered Sky. (which include the ShadowClan traitors, so that might be difficult and might be why it took so long to gain the courage and strength. During this time is probably where Tigerheart starts to try to become friends with Dovewing again, since he’s in her Clan. Maybe they have kits together at this point? Maybe it’s too soon for that….) So ShadowClan probably lost a large amount of cats in battle, or the traitors that ran off or got killed. Either way, ShadowClan is having issues.“Tigerheart has always been a loyal ShadowClan warrior—but an omen from StarClan suggests that the only way for Tigerheart to help save his Clan may be to leave it, and the forest, behind” Okay, this is the confusing part. ShadowClan just had this /huge/ battle. They lost a lot of cats. His father/Clan leader, Rowanstar, was weak already in Thunder and Shadow after a sickness which claimed some of his lives. And who knows if he lost one or two to the battle that apparently takes place in Shattered Sky? His Clan leader is weak, his Clan is weak, and he’s the deputy. He can’t just go off and leave. Why would StarClan tell him to do this? Hm….“Set during the events of the current Warriors series, A Vision of Shadows, this Warriors Super Edition takes Tigerheart and the ThunderClan warrior Dovewing on a quest to save one of the proudest warrior Clans. ” Okay, this makes no sense either. I love Tigerheart and Dovewing together, and I’m really excited for this. But this makes no sense at all…? Why would Dovewing go on a quest with Tigerheart to save ShadowClan? Do they encounter SkyClan, and somehow they can help…? I doubt it, unless the prophecy given in TAQ “Embrace what you find in the shadows, for only they can clear the sky” has ShadowClan and SkyClan’s fates intertwined. I dunno. But it just dawned on me. Maybe Tigerheart and Dovewing are supposed to have kits and that’s why they leave the Clans? They couldn’t have kits if they were in their own respective Clans. So they have kits that will help rebuild ShadowClan and Dovewing moves to ShadowClan permanently? I dunno. This part is really confusing. All in all, I’m excited for this and glad for some closure on Tigerheart’s and Dovewing’s relationship. This will end in Dovewing having kits, no doubt about that.  Darkest Night:  So, this is the blurb:SkyClan has returned to its rightful place among the other four warrior Clans, hoping to find a new territory to call home. But not every cat is convinced that this is where SkyClan belongs. The careful balance around the lake is more fragile than ever before—and the fate of all the warrior Clans remains uncertain.“SkyClan has returned to its rightful place among the other four warrior Clans…”I kind of figured SkyClan would return by Shattered Sky, given the end for Hawkwing’s Journey and Thunder and Shadow, and the title “Shattered Sky”. So this didn’t give away too much for me. It just confirmed some theories. I wonder about the prophecy, though: “Embrace what you find in the shadows, for only they can clear the sky.” How does this tie in with SkyClan’s return? The sky is cleared now, right? Or is it not quite yet? Does ShadowClan have a role to play in this, or is it Twigpaw and Violetpaw because they were found “in the shadows”? Is it a double meaning? Or is it as straightforward as it seems (which I doubt)? I think it would be interesting to have ShadowClan be the heroes this time. It would be a unique twist. And Tigerheart and Hawkwing are by the lake, so…what are they doing there? Why do they seem to be meeting in secret? I think this might tie in with Tigerheart’s Shadow, but I’m not sure. And how would we even know about it as readers? Does Hawkwing get a POV in Shattered Sky? I dunno, and now I’m rambling. d:“[…]hoping to find a new territory to call home.” I find this bit strange. I get that they probably only just got to the lake, but I thought the territory mentioned in the Bramblestar’s Storm manga would become their new home. I thought that was foreshadowing, but I guess not. I wonder where they will live, though…there’s not a whole lot of room by the actual lake now. Will there be a battle with all 5 Clans to settle this? Or will they *try* to settle it peacefully? Will Bramblestar consider splitting his territory with SkyClan, for the sake of peace? This could cause discord in ThunderClan, though. Those who believe SkyClan could stay and those who don’t. Leading into the next part of the blurb….“But not every cat is convinced that this is where SkyClan belongs.” This much is obvious. Certain aggressive cats *cough* Breezepelt *cough* and others like him won’t want SkyClan at the lake and taking up more territory, even if SkyClan doesn’t have many cats left after Hawkwing’s Journey. I can see Rowanstar being aggressive about it, and Onestar too (if he doesn’t die soon, which I kinda doubt). Anyhow, I wonder about the reactions to SkyClan. Probably much shock, and then anger at their warrior ancestors for keeping it a secret. Or maybe some just won’t care and want to help SkyClan find territory to stay at. Bramblestar will want them to stay, for sure.. But this will probably spread much discord between the Clans, which might even lead to a battle, as I mentioned above. This is called “Darkest Night” after all, and Firestar’s ghost in TAQ mentioned dark times ahead. This is probably the dawn of them. (This isn’t relevant, but I wonder *how* SkyClan will return in Shattered Sky. Dramatic entrance? End of book kind of dramatic entrance? I don’t know.)“The careful balance around the lake is more fragile than ever before—and the fate of all the warrior Clans remains uncertain.” Ever all the living cats could remember, there have been 4 Clans and 4 Clans only. The territory was divided equally between the 4 Clans in Starlight. A new Clan will disrupt this balance, and cause even more discord seeing as Darktail and his rogues had just been tramping about (even though it seems like they are defeated by Shattered Sky given the Tigerheart’s Shadow blurb). So a new Clan, however small, is bound to cause nothing but discord. And thus, the fate of all the Clans remains vague and unclear. All in all, this blurb didn’t give as much away as previous blurbs have, which I am thankful for. This is mostly stuff I had already guessed.
