Family tree - Skeletons
Or at least so far without spoilers.
Look at this absolute mess.
I had to shimmy things over so many times.
You can also see I gave up trying to make enough lines between the gang and Error and Nightmare. So they just get the adoption box and I called it a day.
I also very quickly went to colour coding because the standard family tree formation was not going to work but I tried!
I however did give up on trying to add the whole of the undertale gang as I quickly realised I would not have the space and so I concentrated on the skeletons for now.
(Also, don't worry about those lines leading into nothing :) Those are not explained or came up or were referred to in the story and so they don't matter at the moment :) )

Ok, this is just a small sketch, it's part of the story "Ancients & Champions", "Vistoso", I tried to finish it, but I still have my thesis unfinished, so I just finished the sketch and my excitement to upload it is much more hahaha
(since I'm here I'll upload other extra drawings, they're not part of the story but I don't want to lose them) ;)

I did it
I actually did it.
What did I do you may ask?
I finished it.
I just completed the main story for Ancients & Champions!!
The story I am talking about.
Rambling under the read more line
Okay! So. Obviously this is not the final final wordcount. Seeing as I will still need to edit the chapters and reread stuff but this is about the final wordcount.
And let me tell you. The last time i did an update like this I had just hit chapter 91 with writing and felt like I was close to the ending and said that if I had to write another 10 chapters I would go insane.
Oh silly me. Oh how I was wrong.
Because here we are. Not only did I write those last ten chapters but i OVERSHOT it.
It feels strange at this point to actually be done with writing the main story and main storyline. Again it isn't yet finished finished but the story has ended and it is... strange.
I should be relieved honestly. I have been writing this in my off time since we were still in a pandemic, 2021, and I am close to counting three years with writing it.
It was a journey and a half and honestly I think I am a better writer now than when I started. Hell when i reread some of the stuff i wrote near the start i still get the feeling i want to change some wording or characterization because along the process i really settled on hwo i wanted everyone to act and be. (really considering rewriting the sidestory about Error's backstory but i will contain myself for now)
The thing is. I never actually finished a fanficiton before. (and then she writes a 430K thing yes i can see the irony) it is just. I lost interest in the stories i wrote before so it is strange to actually finish this absolute monster of a fanfiction (aaayyyy i will show myself out)
I am not done with this universe I ended up creating just yet. The fact I started this whole thing because i wanted NightmareXSansXError things is still real funny to me. It just got out of hand so quickly and because i started with just writing for only myself it just kept growing.
But I loved the journey and everyone who on AO3 followed along and the few people here who are nice enough to follow me and my story.
It was a fun ride and as i said. I am not quite done with this universe just yet. But I would be lying if it isn't great that i now have more space to write other ideas i had. and i had quite a few ideas. We will see what the future brings.

So instead of working on the last few chapters of the main fic I, once again, decided to write a side story because why wouldn't I?
Side note. This now leaves me with a new word doc of 11K words that I have to reread and edit.
Which is not even talking about the idea I had for another side story/expansion. And the thought to actually put a family tree (or two) together...

Do you have a height list for the characters I started to reread (I'm @ chapter but 64) I'm still missing Killer Dust Cross Geno & Reapers heights
I kinda do actually!
It isn't mentioned too much because it is kinda hard to have it in the story but:
Sans: 4 feet 5
Error: 5 feet 4
Cross: 5 feet 7 (sshhh he is still a growing boy)
Dust & killer: 5 feet 9 (Killer will also grow a bit more but Dust is 5 feet 9 )
Nightmare: 6 feet 3 (5 feet 8 uncorrupted)
Horror: 7 feet.
I don't have a canon height for either Reaper or Geno. Geno is just a bit taller than Error but still short and Reaper is taller and lankier than Geno.
I just kinda picked something and went with it. Hope it helps!

Howdy! I recently made a blog for recommending fics & I made a post on my personal recommendations, one of those being your Ancients & Champions fic. Is this alright? I find myself going back to my favorite parts & rereading. (Especially the scene with the reveal of Chara & Asriel. So emotion filled!)

Coloured Sketch of Judge
With a Sans for scale.
Ancients overview.
Judge, being about 18 feet in height. Is mostly incorporeal and that shows with their form. They also really don't like to be even visible or physical. It is why Judge is normally a much more hidden presence and works by influencing the choices of their Champion.
And before they decided on even getting a Champion they would remain with one of their fellow Ancients to not have to deal with mortals.
Judge is still new to having a Champion but is learning as they go. Maybe in a few millenia they will have a different form or more Champions but for now Judge functions best with having one Champion that they stick to and with.

Well I bit the bullet, here is the coloured sketch of Nim from my AU. (with a little 5feet dude for scale) ((Very very loosely based on the original dreamtale AU but it is isn't much alike or any way connected to that original AU))
Ancients Overview.
Nim is the Ancient of Perseverance, and magic.
Nim, at her full strength is about 70 feet tall and appears like a large deer like creature. Her antlers resemble a willow tree. When she settles in a place she likes the grow a tree directly on the ley lines. Makes her have an easy connection to what is her domain. She is mainly purple in colour which reflects her trait but she also has the other colours as is in the nature of magic. Her antlers also grow more of her apples.
In this AU her apples are much more connected to magic over emotions. If one were to eat an apple a number of things could happen.
If a normal monster eats one they become a boss monster. if a boss monster eats one they would get the power of a boss monster who absorbed a human soul.
If a human eats an apple they would become a mage, a human able to use magic. If a mage ate an apple they would gain the power as if they absorbed a boss monster soul.
No one has eaten one after that stage and Nim is unsure what would happen then, she assumes the mortal body of the one who ate the apple at that point would not be able to withstand the magic and die, but Nim is not sure.
Nim's personality in this is overall friendly and curious. she loves interacting with the mortals around her and when she had still been at full power she often forms a connection to the communities living near her. She used to take a form looking like a mortal to mingle better with those around her or ride with her Champion to be able to fully experience the world around her.
When she made Dream and Nightmare she lost a lot of her power that had been slow to recover.
Now after the events of the main story she lives within the ley lines in the earth where she is recovering before finding a new place to permanently reside.
If she were to have a champion it would just be one who would be a Guardian. The Guardian would be there to guard her as she works on infusing this world with magic.
She is one of the oldest Ancients and was one of the first to pick her domain.

The Skeleton House
Related to my story/fanfiction.
When I first started working on the chapter (chapter 64) where Sans and Frisk explored their new house. I had no idea what to write and no view for it myself.
So like the nerd that I am. I decided to first make one on the Sims. Then use that as a blueprint to write with.
It worked perfectly and I got through the chapter no issue.
Then someone asked if they could see what the house looked like and I figured 'Sure. I can just make a tiny post and like upload the picture in the sidenotes.'
TURNS OUT! The Sims did in matter of fact NOT save the house that I made, anywhere. So that plan was a bust.
So obviously. I figured it would a great plan to REMAKE the house.
Turns out. Making it from text -> house is a lot harder than the other way around.
I was just going to show the finished results but I guess you all can see my struggle:
Try 1. I ended up deleting it as I could not make the layout work as I wanted and I decided I wanted more space to work with. Just in case.
So I went to look through the houses that were there to figure out which family I could evict and house I could bulldoze (Gotta love the Sims)
I ended up going for a house in Windenburg:
I picked it because there were no direct neighbors and no direct roads which worked for my emergence and so my overall idea.
So I bulldozed the lot and I got to work with the basic layout on the groundfloor.
At some point I was happy with the overall layout. You will see the upper left change a bit.
Once I was happy with the groundfloor I added the overall layout for the first and second floors as well. I also decided to struggle on the staircase for about 20 minutes to get a hole around the top part of the stairs.
This is the only picture I got where it is obvious but damnit I am proud of it and it deserves the spotlight. But I spend 20 minutes on it so it deserves the mention. No I did not do the same with the second staircase. I don't enjoy suffering.
After that I made a bit of a sandy path to the front of the house and I added some windows and lights, mostly to make it light inside to enable myself to see what I was doing. I have eben making small edits to the overall layout and shape but it remained mostly the same.
The next view updates go fast because I got in the decorating zone and I just kinda went.
Tada! The groundfloor! Some of you will notice it is slightly different than the house in the story. Mostly this is how I imagine it will eventually look. After the guys also made it a bit more there own:
Blue circle: The first guestroom. I made all the guest rooms generic. mostly because I don't hate myself and was not in the mood to make them all different.
Green circle: Groundfloor bathroom
Purple arrow: The area that is different from the story. In my head the guys will end up renovating the house a little which means they will sacrifices one of the guest rooms for another staircase to the library that does not yet exist.
White arrow: the dining room. I wanted to use a bigger table but the Sims does not HAVE bigger tables thant 3X1 and I couldn't find a good one that should look like a big one if you place them next to one another and I wasn't in the mood to try and make it work with moveobjects on cheat. At elast the number of chairs is enough
Red circle: The pantry.
Obviously in the center by the staircase you see the living room.
Top right is the kitchen.
and bottom right is the hallway and enterance to the house.
That was the rundown of the groundfloor!
First floor lets go!
Okay here we go!
Purple circle: The library that was added later by the guys, before that part of the house did not exist.
Green circle: General bathroom
Blue circles: five guestrooms
Pink circle: Frisk's room and they bathroom, bathroom has a door both to the hallway and to their room. I want to add that I added the non-binary flag above their bed but you can't see it clearly but I want everyone to know it is there I swear.
Yellow circle: Sans' room with bathroom, bathroom does not have a door to the hallway.
The top floor is honestly boring but to be complete I will show you
I did not decorate all the rooms because I didn't know what to make them all yet. The center room is just the bedroom for Horror, Killer, Dust and Cross. It is honestly just a room with a giant bed in it because all they do there is sleep and otherwise they are either on the bottom floor or in the garden.
Now. The garden.
As you saw with the tour of the house, the garden is still very empty. Not for long!
Here is the front garden and the roof. Fun fact. the roof is actually rather easy and If you are struggling with adding one because of the windows. If you use a slightly smaller window and put it as high as possible you get a little bit of wall under the window. Then, when you add the roof you can make the tip of the roof lower. Then it is a matter of making it smaller until it fits under the window. No cheats required, just some patience.
Anyway, that were the roofs. The garden was just me adding the sand path with the terrain editor. Digging a river type thing with the dig tool and add water tool. I made a tiny pit where I added a volcanic pit, just for flavour to serve as a firepit. Then I just added a buttload of trees and plants and waterstuff.
Some of it even lit up which made me very happy.
But that is it! the Skeleton Estate!

For those curious it took me about 5 hours to remake it (Not counting the 2 hours with the failed attempt at the start)
I will probably never use the house in the Sims but it is there and I actually saved it this time so hopefully if I even need the reference again I don't have to rebuild it again.

Ancient of Determination
For an overview of the Ancients
This is Fate, the Ancient of Determination
Fate does not care what pronouns you use for them. She is okay with anything. She/he/they/it/xe. They will react to anything if he notices you mean them.
Fate, is a strange one powerwise. As They are not affected by the mortals. While other Ancients make Champions to get a better bond and reach to the earth and mortals on it Fate does not get this.
Fate is completely seperated from the mortals and will never form a connection like the other Ancients do. It is what is expected as the nature of Fate is after all.
This, as a result, means that when Fate names a Champion they can not give many of their powers over to the Champion. Unlike the other Champions who gain significant powers or skills, Fate's Champions only gain one thing, and always the one thing.
The ability to keep going.
It can have different names for a person, motivation, determination, go-getter. In the end it is the ability to get through the hardships and to keep going towards your goal.
Fate can make as many champions as they want as it doesn't cost them anything. The issue is that Fate can't unname a Champion as they never really gift any of their powers. Normally when an Ancient unnames a Champion they recall the gift of their powers. Making the Champion an ex-Champion as the powers get lost. But as Fate doesn't actually gift anything Fate can't recall it.
Meaning, Once Fate names you a Champion, a Wishmaker. You are always a wishmaker.
Which is nice... except that it can backfire as Fate doesn't bother to police his Champions or guide them which means that she just leaves them to do their own thing after naming them. Meaning that if a Wishmaker decides to use this power to keep going and keep getting up and unending motivation for more... negative gains. there is very little that can stop them.
(side note. Chara and Frisk. Both of them are Wishmakers, neither of them are aware because again, Fate doesn't bother to explain things. It is why when they were underground their power got hypercharged by the three natural leylines within the mountain and the barrier locking all the magic in place. It mean that their Wishmaker position got hypercharged and they could suddenly reset and save and load. Now that they both have been out of the mountain for a long time this ability disappeared once more. Ther are unable to manipulate the timeline anymore.
No, Fate was unaware this happened.)
Because Fate doesn't need to form any connection with either her Champions or mortals in general they tend to not interact with anyone. He is always on the move and hardly stops for more than a few minutes to look around a spot to see if anyone needs a motivation boost before moving on. Fate doesn't need to rest either so she is forever moving and traveling.
Their form as fox goes mostly unnotices. this means he has been photographed multiple times but it hardly shows anything strange on camera (yes normal hunters have tried to shoot Fate before but Fate doesn't exactly have a physical form. people just assume they missed the fox and hope it doesn't go after their chickens).
But...
If you happen to find them at dusk or dawn. and happened to look at them just as the sun reaches the horizon. You may see some strange things about this fox. The way that the eyes seem to hold stars in them (the save star). the way that the light reflects of the fur making almost spiral motives. or... that for some reason... the shadow of the fox seems to show three tails...
It are tiny signs at just the right time. If, Fate stays still long enough for you to truly study them. As the moment you see them is also the moment you will see it continue on her path.

Ancient of Bravery.
For an overview of the Ancients.
This is Knight, the Ancient of Bravery.
He/him and his focus is protecting those who can't fight for themselves. He is a traveler and rooms the earth. His appearance changes to fit the image some have of heroes/legends but he does like to pick and choice.
He doesn't have an actual face or soemthing that resembles it like his fellow Ancients. He instead has a mask that shifts between 6 posiblities to emote his feelings, which are:
Done (tm)
Happy
Angry
Shocked
Shocked (different type)
Sad
It is important to know that he choice these masks himself and if that doesn't tell you enough about the relationships between the Ancients I don't know what will.
He isn't the biggest Ancient but he is the most human like (as much as he can be as a 20feet being which emits orange light)
Knight has a lot of Champions, his so-called Heroes, Knights and Warriors. He makes them when the world needs them and lets them room as they please to help those who need. They don't travel together but Knight takes time to train each of his Champions in all the fighting styles and weapon masteries he knows before letting them pick their own path to complete the goal of helping others.
There has not been a single moment in history where Knight has had less than 5 heroes because, as Knight would say "The world can always use more heroes and people who will do the right thing."
Overall, as the nature of making Champions takes having to cut their own power. It means that Bravery is ironically the weakest of the Ancients. He has cut parts of his own powers off so many times that at maximum he operates at only about a fifth of his overall power.
Bravery however isn't sad about this. He happily helps those who need and if that means making himself more vulnerable and weaker than so be it.
In the past he would travel and stay near mortals to hear more directly if they needed help. But with how the world turned violent against monsters he had been forced to stay back. He understands that while he wishes to help more directly the world may not be ready to know about the Ancient's existence anymore.
Now he wanders and travels alone. Helps when he can but tries not to scare those he helps. He at the moment has about twenty Champions all across the globe who do their duty with helping those he need it.

You mention dream flying in chapter two dose he have wings did Ink give him wings or is it like super power flying ?
Are blues sharp teeth always sharp or just sharp from Dreams corruption effecting him?
Dose Papyrus graduate the monster police academy ?

Man that was long ago! Cant believe i never adressed that in the end, my bad.
The floating/flying was a combination of Dream using his magic and Ink helping him with some wings. They were a tiny bit dramatic.
The teeth blue had was mostly because of the magical boost Dream gave him. It had some extra effects and the teeth were one of those.
Papyrus did graduate! Did it a while ago. he is now a proud member of the monster police/royal guard (yes it is just a rebranding because people got nervous at the name of royal guard and we all know that asgore is great at naming)

Ancients being born
The different ways an Ancient can be born. A quick overview.
Foremost, Being born out of magic and a concept.
This is the case for most Ancients, the main seven were all born out of a trait and energy combining. From there on their chose a purpose to follow. Life's purpose for example is giving Life but she was still born from energy and kindness.
Ancients born this way come into existence as 'adults' and fully formed. There is alwyas a tiny bit of room for personal development as they tend to change with the world around them but they have most of the powers they could get already with them.
Second way an Ancient is made.
Born.
Which is how Nightmare and Dream came to be. Nim decided she wanted children and got to work to make it happen. Nightmare and Dream are full Ancients but unlike their fellow ancients they need to grow up and are still learning and gaining their powers. This is an effect of how they were created.
A Monster absorbing seven human souls OR a human absorbing a boss monster soul and then six more human souls.
As was said before, if a monster absorbs seven human souls they will gain the power of a god. This is factual correct. the only reason why a human would need to absorb a Boss Monster soul is because only these souls persist after dying and so the only soul available for them to absorb. after that they need six other human souls.
In short, in one body: 1 Monster soul + 7 Human souls = 1 Ancient.
Nim's apples.
Nim's apples have the ability to give humans and monsters alike powers.
If a monster eats one they become a Boss monster. If they eat another one it is as if they also absorbed a human soul. If they were to eat ANOTHER one they would become an ancient.
(in the human case it is after one apple they become a mage, after two apples they are a mage with a bsos monster soul absorbed, after three apples they become an Ancient)
But, that is a lot of magic and power going through the monster/human. The chances that a human or monster survives eating an apple is reasonable. eating two apples is close to a death sentence. Three? eating three of those apples is a very sure way to make your soul explode of too much magic and energy.
(this has to do with who it gave Nightmare such an extreme reaction when he ate one. An Ancient with the power of another apple? An apple that can make someone INTO an ancient? It was a lot and Nightmare is honestly lucky he survived.)
Ascending.
It is possible for a human/monster to ascend to godhood (ancienthood?? I will workshop that name later).
No one is sure how. It has never happened before. but it is possible.
And that is it! At the moment. there are 5 ways for a new Ancient to be born.
Yet only two of those ways have been used so far and there are only nine Ancients in total (this is counting Dream and Nightmare even if they are still forming and growing)
That is the lore drop for now. mostly because i have no way of adding this to the main story so i will go this way. see you guys around.
