amish etho is my personal conspiracy theory. his lack of knowledge for a lot of pop culture, mispronouncing words (rhythm.) because he never heard them before because he was only allowed to read books. he does a lot of physical jobs in his real life (as opposed to hiring a professional). OBVIOUSLY etho's family was formerly amish and moved out of that lifestyle when etho was young and he assimilated pretty well but not good enoguh. i see you amish etho. its either that or autism

It has been my firm belief for a long time now that Etho IS, beyond a shadow of a doubt, a Jehovah's Witness. Here is some of my very reasonable and not at all completely insane evidence:

Etho hid the fact that he was a Minecraft YouTuber from all his friends and family during the first few years. There's a CotD when he talks about what it was like telling everybody, including two of his "teachers", who apparently disapproved of him playing videogames for a living. JWs and other cults disapprove of internet based careers because they want to limit people's exposure to potentially "harmful" ideas. (https://youtu.be/ZFsZDL2Vc_E?t=2213)

Also in the life series, Etho was the only person not to attend Martyn's birthday party.

Of course, Etho being a JW doesn't make him complicit in the evils of the Watchtower Society.

i think ive become an amish etho truther ur one anon saying hes probably not even canadian convinced me because to me his accent always sounded more wisconsin (like pronouncing bag as bayg) and there r sooo many amish people there. also if we assume hes in his late 30s the timeline works out as he wouldve started his youtube channel shortly after his rumspringa ended which is when they decide whether or not to stay amish

theres a whole lot going on here but im very into the idea of etho faking being canadian like what was the reasoning. whats the first occurrence we have of him being confirmed canadian. id like to believe his accent is sort of weird (autism trait) so people assumed he was and it got him free friends in mindcrack (team canada, pause literally shouts him out on this day one) and now hes in 2deep

as a former mormon i can pretty confidentally say that etho is not one. he drinks coffee (big one) and he uploads videos on sundays (shock and horror) and also mormons are heavily encoraged to be open with their faith so that they can convert more people. i think we would have heard about it by now. iirc he's also mentioned getting drunk before, which is a big no-no. the gay rp too

this has been agreed upon yeah but honestly im more wondering about the getting drunk part of anyone has a source on that. not the roleplay where he flirted with a horse that one doesn't count

Technically if I’m not wrong most Canadian amish are situated in Ontario.

Unless my brain just made this up in the depths of doublethink and doublespeak, doesn’t he live in Alberta?

While it is popular for amish people to run greenhouses, I can’t seem find evidence of Amish settlements in Alberta.

Amish people tend to treat their animals well but as fellow workers instead of pets.

Etho is known to have had at least one cat (Snuggles?) who caught ducks but he said that his cousins have had pets like snakes and hedgehogs.

While I’m not sure of this, I feel like Amish can’t have snakes for pets.

However, if he is/was Amish, that would explain why his dang darn earphones were never replaced until he could not use it any longer.

Otherwise, corrall him firmly into the autistic category :)

if he was amish he couldnt have headphones full stop but imsort of crying at the image of etho trying to hide his setup from his fellow amish like he smuggled that ugly ass headset into the barn to live out his dreams of being a minecraft youtuber... Like Ivr seen the outside world now... I don't want to till the fields ... I want to play Minecraft ...!!

IRLEtho drinks beer sometimes, as admitted in OOGE & Don't Starve w/ Br0dyman. Don't think he is a JW. Could've been *raised* as a JW, but no longer a JW, like Tomska?

Alcohol is allowed with being a Jehovah's Witness (looked it up) but being drunk certainly is not, so at the very least, Minecraft Etho couldn't be a JW.

He made LOTS of alcohol in TerraFirmaCraft. He would "celebrate his harvest" by getting drunk. He flirted with his horse in season two.

Etho, in early TerraFirmaPunk, loudly proclaimed that he wasn't drunk (irl) while and after failing at knapping a few times.

Also, pretty sure his "funeral" celebration for his horse in TerraFirma S1 would not be smiled upon by JW elders hahahaha
