Here’s another show that I loved watching when I was a kid, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi!
I love a show that features female main characters where one is the sweet and girly one while the other one’s a dark and edgy one! But I liked Ami more when I first watched this show!
I apoligize if I drawn Ami with a guitar, I kmow she’s mostly a drummer but I wanted to draw that gutair from that one episode where she was playing with Yumi.
Now here’s a fun fact, when I was a kid I used to own toys of the show but then I lost them while I was at a neighbours place for babysiting. And… I couldn’t get them back because once you lost them there I couldn’t get it back.. I was pretty upset about losing my ami and yumi toys when that happend. But hey, at least I remembered having those toys. Also, I used to own two comics of the show! That’s how much I’ve really loved the cartoon!
I find it intresting after being the singers for Teen Titans’s opening song they made a spin off series to the show but it’s about the singers! :)
Overall, I really enjoyed watching it, and I still love it! Man now I want to watch this cartoon again.

It all started when we first met
And strapped on our guitars
We made music so great and good
That soon we were rock stars !

If you havent watched the unaired Hi Hi Puffy Amiyumi pilot you should. The full version is on the internet archive just google it. Its miles better than the actual show and I mean it.
It's also what some of the staff actually wanted the show to be but couldn't afford to or weren't able to due to executive choices.

Girls' cartoons back in the day slapped hard
I can't tell you how glad I am that as a pre-teen and tween I had shows like W.I.T.C.H, Winx Club, Totally Spies, Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi, Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, Kim Possible and all that good shit.
How many of these cartoons dealt with such INTENSE subjects whilst also being true to the teen girl experience without overly sexualising young girls but instead playing into ridiculously colorful, glittery tween girl fashion that prioritized individuality over cohesive adult style, but even more than that emphasized girls being friends and girls being OP and girls being like universal powers.
And you know what? They did all that without getting called 'woke' or 'feminist propaganda' or any of the shit that 100% would get thrown at them if they got made for the first time today. I mean, these shows aren't perfect, each of these shows has some very valid criticisms, but I know that modern young girls don't get the fucking variety we had in the day.
