Aemond and his girlfriend had just come home after dinner with some of their friends, when she asked him something he never would have heard.
“Tell me about Alys.” She asked as they took off their jacket and coat, slipping out of their shoes.
His expression hardened at the name of his ex-girlfriend. He hated hearing her name, remembering her.
“No.” He said in a cold tone, taking her coat and hanging it as she put away their shoes.
“Why not?” She insisted as they went in the kitchen, grabbing two glasses and the water from the fridge.
“Because I don’t want to.” He grunted, pouring the water in the glasses. His tone is still the same and he keeps staring at the glasses ahead of him. He remains silent, simply refusing to say anything about his ex, as in his mind he replays in his head what happened the last time he saw her. He closed his eye and shook his head, ashamed of that memory.
“I want to know about her.” She said, walking to him, hugging him from behind and resting her head on his back.
He sighed and got silent for a second. His tone became serious as he started speaking. His eyes were focused on the wall ahead of him.
“Why do you have to stick your nose in something that doesn’t regard you? Uh?!”
He was pissed, he knew she would have kept asking until he would eventually tell her. She pulled away from him, taking her glass and leaning back on the table.
“Jeez, what has she done to make you react like this now?”
He turned towards her but he kept his eye fixed on the wall ahead. She could tell he was thinking of something unpleasant as he stayed silent for a moment before sighing and starting to speak again.
“You don’t need to know what she did, okay?”
He didn’t look at her as he waited for her response, but his voice is not as angry as a moment ago.
“But I want to.”
God, she was stubborn.
His tone is still serious, but he doesn’t reply right away, he looks down at the floor, and after a few seconds he speaks again:
“Why do you want to know that so bad?”
“I’m curious.” She raised her shoulders as if she was saying something obvious. “You told me she was older than you.” She added then
Hearing the word ‘older’ he seemed to be more uncomfortable. He sighed deeply and he spoke again.
“Yes she was older than me.” He admitted coldly.
“How much?” She sipped her water, interested.
“She was thirty-five.” He glanced at her to catch her reaction, but she looked calm, just curiosity in her expression. She took her time to ask her next question.
“How old were you?”
Silence. His tone is now more stern.
“Seventeen.” He kept looking at her, studying her expression, but it didn’t falter, he still saw no judgment in her face.
“So… you were underage.” She stated. He stayed silent again for a while before speaking.
“Yes, I was.” His eye drifted back to the floor, as he clenched and unclenched his hand around the glass. She pressed her lips together.
“How did you meet her?” She took another sip of her glass, looking away from him.
The question brings back some memories, but he remains serious. His tone was more bitter, as he turned his head to the side.
“At a party. Aegon dragged me into a club.”
She smiled to break the tension, and hummed in amusement.
“That sounds like Aegon.”
He stayed silent for a moment before slowly nodding his head a bit. She could tell he started speaking with more anger. He’s not yelling, not answering meanly, but she could see he was holding back.
“Yeah, sounds like him. And it was because of him I even saw her in the very first place.”
She hummed and looked away. She was the one to bring up the topic, yet she felt uncomfortable hearing about Alys, but since he was answering her, she decided to keep going.
“So how did you two… you know… got together?”
His tone is colder and the bitterness in his voice increases.
“She approached me.” He stares at the water in his glass. If he thought about it enough, he could still smell her perfume, or hear her voice, even if it was now… five years ago.
“Mh. What was she like?”
She hated that she wanted to know that, but she was curious, she wanted the image of that woman in her head, even if what he could say would have hurt her or made her burn with jealousy.
He stops for a moment, thinking about how he could describe her.
“Dark eyes and hair, a bit curvy. Always nails, hair and makeup done. She always used this… red lipstick of hers. Rarely saw her without it. She always wore dresses that would shape her perfectly and show her breast.”
She was perfect.
She looked away, feeling a pain in her chest, and jealous of how that woman apparently always appeared perfect. Aemond looked at her, he put down his glass on the counter and stepped closer to her, taking her hand and kissing its back.
“She was beautiful, charming, and charismatic, but she was manipulative, mean and...” He sighed and looked away, leaving the phrase unfinished. “She acted in a kind and loving way towards me, at least in the beginning.”
“What about after?” She looked up at him, as he cupped her cheek with his hand, and she covered it with her own hand.
“It became a nightmare.” She furrowed her eyebrows, confused and concerned.
“What do you mean?” She asked worriedly.
He stays silent for a few seconds but his anger is obvious in his voice.
“She changed, or, well, she showed herself for who she really is. She was no longer the woman I met at the club. Her charming and loving behavior disappeared and she started to treat me horribly. She cheated on me often. Despite that she managed to keep me in her claws for three years.” He said in a mixture of shame and anger.
“How did she treat you?” She asked then, getting more worried.
Silence. His tone was very bitter and he seemed to be almost on the verge of losing his temper. This was a sensitive topic for him.
“She was verbally... and physically abusive towards me. She hit me on several occasions and did several other horrendous things I’d rather not describe.” He couldn’t look at her. He felt stupid. He felt stupid even after all that time, and he was ashamed of telling her how stupid he had been.
“Then why did you stay with her?”
At first, he didn’t answer her question and his tone remained bitter and frustrated as he stayed silent for a moment. When he started speaking again, he was clearly not happy to answer the question she just asked. He still sounded bitter and angry as he started to explain.
“Because she made me feel she was the only person who really understood me, that she was the only one who truly loved me.... That I wasn't worth it and I was nothing... And that no one else would ever want me other than her, or other things like that..”
She was surprised.
What the fuck?
She was… horrible. Who could even think of saying such things?
“… Wha- What kind of other things did she say to you?”
He looked at her in despair, but he knew she wanted to know, so he just talked.
“She used to say that I was ugly, that I was a disappointment, that I was too insecure, and that I was weak...  that I would never be enough... I would have never been able to find another woman... That I would be alone forever.”
She felt like crying. He had to go through all of this? She wanted to keep him close and protect him from everything, everyone. He didn’t deserve that. Sure, he was complicated and a bit of a douche sometimes, but no one deserves such treatment. No one.
“I’m… I’m so sorry. She was cruel.”
He stayed silent for a moment but his tone indicated that her words helped him calm down a bit. He was less angry and less tense.
“Yes... She really was cruel. But I guess that's who she was all along, and I didn't notice it back then… But I think what I’ll never forgive her is that she made me a freak.”
She looked at him pained and even more confused.
“What? What does it mean she made you a freak?”
He didn’t respond right away and his tone became much more frustrated, he looked… ashamed.
“She was… my first time, and she was into some… crazy, disgusting things… and she kind of passed them to me, or at least, now I’m into some of those things too.”
She paused. She tried to elaborate his words.
“Like what?”
“I told you they’re disgusting. Why do you want to know? You’ll only get scared or… or you’ll be disgusted with me.”
She frowned.
“What? No. I won’t. Aemond, I won’t. Tell me.”
He seemed to consider your words again and again, taking his time to speak. He was embarrassed but he nodded and slowly started speaking again. He still kept his eyes down as he spoke.
“She was into painful things. Some very unpleasant things.”
“…Okay. Like what?” She softly encouraged him to say more.
The uncomfortable atmosphere was almost palpable. This was not a subject he wanted to talk about, but still, she could feel the burden that was placed on him. He was silent but finally he started to speak again, he sounded much more bitter. She could tell that this was something that really bothered him and hurt deep down but he would not go into much detail.
“She liked it rough. Like really rough. More rough than what we’ve ever done. She liked… to be slapped, she liked it violent.” He paused, as if to contemplate if he should have gone further, say it all. He sighed and he decided to be honest. “She liked some roleplay, but she was always the dominant part. So… I started fantasizing, and… I… I got into… like haunting roleplay. Haunting the prey and… once I caught her…” Rape her. He couldn’t finish it. He was too ashamed to say it out loud, but it was clear she understood. Yet, all she did was nod, she didn’t judge him. Though it was new for her seeing Aemond ashamed of something regarding sex. He was usually straight forward, confident.
“Obviously that would be consensual, I…” He sighed and looked away.
“It’s okay, I understand.”
“No, I really think you don’t. I like it violent, disgustingly violent. I want to be the one to give it, not receive it.” He growled, as if he wanted to scare her away, as if he wanted her to be disgusted by him.
“I do understand, Aemond. I do.” She repeated softly. He shook his head and passed his hand over his face, rubbing his eye.
“How can you not be disgusted?” He mumbled, his face getting red with a mixture of frustration, anger and shame.
“You… You like what you like, there is no point in judging you. I know I can trust you.” She said with a soft smile. Aemond looked at her.
She was perfect.
It was all he could think. He leant forward suddenly and kissed her deeply, as she immediately wrapped her arms around his neck and kept him close.
She was perfect.
He slipped his tongue inside her mouth, drinking in all of her, her taste, smell, her soft touch.
She was perfect, and she was his.
He pulled away and she smiled at him, caressing his cheek.
“Can I ask more?” She asked, and Aemond smiled. Her curiosity amused him, he was even more amused as now she asked instead of just insisting. He knew she was dying to know more.
“Yes.” He leant back on the counter as she unwrapped her arms from his neck and caressed his arms.
“Did she do something you didn’t like?” She asked then. Aemond nodded.
“Yes, but I… I always let her do it anyway.” He said, and she nodded, waiting for him to continue talking.
“She would… hurt me. She liked painful things, humiliation, degradation and violence.”
She bit her lower lip as she looked at him in pity. She knew very well Aemond was not into those kinds of things, actually, he was right the opposite. He had enough trouble during  his childhood with his eye and bullying that he could never handle going back to being ashamed or weakened because of it, again. She put her glass down and she went to hug him.
“Oh, baby… I’m sorry I’ve made you go this far. I was just really curious.” She says sadly. Aemond hugs her back but after a while he pulls her away.
“No, it’s fine. I want to tell you.” He rubbed the back of his head as he looked away. “You might be the best person to tell this stuff to.” He added. She smiled softly, nodding.
“She… she used to treat me like a child, actually. If I did something wrong she would… punish me, let’s say that. She would ride me as punishment, slapping me and degrading me as she did so.” He took her hand as he looked down at it, and he started playing with her nails. “She was mean, before, and during sex, but she… she was nicer after it, telling me now I could go back to being good for her… she played nice for a while, so I wouldn’t go away. Not that I would have anyway, I… It was like I was addicted to her. She knew it and she used it. She used me.” Aemond clenched his jaw tightly as she kept looking at him worriedly.
“Aemond… but you got out of it.” She stated, putting a hand over his to reassure him. His expression contorted into one of disgust, and shame.
“I… It wasn’t nice, what I did. How I left.” He said in disgust. She put a hand on his cheek and turned his face to her, smiling at him softly, looking him in the eye.
“I’m sure she deserved what you did.” She said confident, but Aemond immediately looked away.
“No. Don’t say that, you don’t know that. You can’t know that.” He said angrily.
“Aemond, after what you’ve told me, I doubt you did so much worse than what she did. You were…” She shook her head, not really knowing what to say, but Aemond continued for her.
“What? I was what? Younger? I should have known better.” He says with his voice full of bitterness. There is a long moment of silence, as she looks down as he keeps playing with her nails and fingers, and he goes back to looking at her.
“If you could go back, would you have done something different?” She asks then, still looking down. He sighs and he intertwines his fingers with hers.
“No. I wouldn’t. What I did to her… It was… fair, but that doesn’t change the fact that… It was horrible.” Again, she took her time to answer. Then, she looked back up to him.
“Just like she treated you.” Aemond pressed his lips together and turned his head to the side, frustrated. She kept defending what he did like it was right, and he hated it. He felt guilty, he felt he had to feel guilty.
“You just can’t say things like that. You weren’t fucking there, you know nothing.”He spat out. she didn’t get offended, she knew he wasn’t angry with her, he was angry with himself, with his past, with Alys.
“Is she alive? Yes, is she fine? Yes.” She stated, and keeping his head turned, he glanced at her.
“You don’t know what I did to her.” She nodded, and took a deep breath.
“Do you want to tell me?” She asked softly, caressing his hand.
“No. Not yet.” He looked back down, as images of that memory flashed in front of him.
She hugged him, and he immediately hid his face in her neck, bending down due to the height difference. He just wanted to forget, and be happy, even if he wasn’t sure he deserved it. He wasn’t even sure if he deserved to be with someone like her. She passed her fingers in his hair as she massaged his scalp.
He loved her.
Is this what love is?
All he wanted to do was keep her close all the time, feel her all the time, look at her all the time. He never had enough of her, not even of her stubbornness. She had her attitude, but just as he had his. Yet, he thought, he never felt he could fit better with someone. He knew she was the one.
He hugged her tighter as she responded by kissing his neck.
She was the one. He would never let her go. There was no better place for her better than his side, just like for him, it was her side. She pulled away from the hug and took his hand, talking softly.
“Let’s go lay down, yeah?”

On "alysmond" and "helaemond"
For some reason, there’s a petty war going on between fierce “helaemond” and “alysmond” stans. Fr, I totally don’t understand why should those ships be mutually exclusive? If “helaemond” actually becomes the show canon, I can totally see Helaena breaking up with her brother-boyfriend after B’n’C. IMO Aemond’s recklessness and long-harbored, ill-concealed hatred for Luke , contributing to Jaehaerys’ tragic death is a reason enough for Hel to stay away from him, never mind how dear the siblings (with benefits) used to be to each other. In this scenario, Aeamond could pursue a relationship with Alys, never mind his previous (more or less romantic) engagement with Helaena…
In addition, if “helaemond” is confirmed, this subplot doesn’t necessary have to be some fabulous love story. I mean the siblings *may* have been getting along with each other pretty well , and I really enjoy the idea of young Aemond having a crush on his big sister. I find it really cute, that’s all. In my opinion teenage Aemond, doubtlessly familiar with the idea of “courtly love” (I’m guessing this concept could exist in the quasi-medieval Westeros), might have enjoyed performing the role of righteous knight, worshipping his “future queen” from afar , as if there was a “secret RPG session”, going on but in his head. Frankly speaking, the young !Knight Aemond and his !Lady Helaena don’t even have to get sexually involved and their “forbidden love” could remain just cute, childish crush, as the time goes by turning into mature friendship, mutual care and understanding. Perhaps older Aemond, driven with his sense of responsibility, would want to become a proprer father figure/ role model for his little nephews and niece? I like to think well-educated, smart  Aemond, familiar with the story of Daenys the Dreamer, and keeping his sister company more often than her joke of a husband, found out Hel was a Dragon Dreamer.
On the other hand, we cannot rule out Helaena and Aemond becoming lovers, but IMO such a scenario would be pretty dark. It seems to me it could happened only if the show version of Helaena remained childless after two or three years of marriage (yet again, I am speaking about the show counterpart of the FnB Helaena, who canonically bore the twins about a year after she had wed Aegon) and Aemond started to fear someone like Larys Strong would simply get rid of Hel, so that the WIDOWED crown prince could take another bride. So, Aemond shared his fears with his sister, and the siblings agreed they ought to cuckold Aegon in order to secure Helaena’s position as the future queen, and thusly save her life… It’s possible the righteous prince Aemond , loathing the mere idea of fathering bastards, could have secretly married his sister (it could have been a traditional Valyrian ceremony, which still wouldn’t make the whole situation any romantic).  However, even as a “secretly married” couple, who could grow to quite enjoy performing their “conjugal duty”,  Aemond and Helaena could remain but “siblings with benefits” (which sounds awful, but given they’re Targaryens, it kinda makes sense) and never develop romantic feelings for each other. In this scenario, they could be still sleeping together after Aegon’s heir had been born, just out of sheer need for comfort, closeness or affection, or simply willing to reduce stress, feel better or have fun.  Messed up as Helaena and Aemond seem, they could have perceived sex as yet another form of bonding…  Whatever could have been going on between the siblings, their breakup after Jaehaerys’ death appears inevitable.
As far as Aemond’s relationship with Alys is concerned, I wouldn’t call it an overly romantic love story, either. Let’s say it out loud – in spite of her sharp wits, charms and whatnot, Alys was a prisoner of war and even if Aemond had fallen madly in love with her, I would risk saying she wasn’t in the position to truly reciprocate his feelings. Thanks to Alys’ good looks, the prince “generously” spared her life, there’s no two ways about it, BUT however “besotted” Aemond was with Alys, becoming his “war bride” literally meant she was chosen to be a freakin’ sex slave. In my honest opinion, the woman deserved better and I don’t believe she reciprocated his love. Alys certainly was not in the position to fully consent to be the prince’s paramour, although I can totally see Aemond developing genuine romantic feelings for her – however twisted it may sound. It seems to me in the very beginning, it was just about lust, but later on, the prince could have taken to the “witch” because of her personality and even become fascinated with her supernatural powers. Frankly speaking, I am not the fan of the “Alys casting a love spell on Aemond” theory. She might have been using her totally prosy, feminine charms in order to endear the prince to her, and thusly make sure she would be treated as well as she could possibly be under so dire circumstances. And no, I don’t mean Alys was just offering Aemond sexual favors. Intelligent person she no doubt was, the “witch queen” could do her best in order to forge an emotional bond with Aemond, too. For instance listening to what the prince had to say and showing him affection. Paradoxically, learning Aemond’s story could make Alys take to the prince at least a little, since in this scenario, she could realize in spite of coming from different social backgrounds, they shared a bunch of experiences. For instance, earlier in her life, unwed and pregnant Alys, born out of wedlock herself, had been no doubt an outcast – just like Aemond the Kinslayer, having blood of his close relative on his hands. Could it be a reason enough for Alys to start sympathizing with Aemond? Yes, indeed. In addition, the “witch” had lost both her child and their father – even if  we are not familiar with the details and the moment she met Aemond Alys was probably over it. If the “helaemond” theory is confirmed, Aemond gets involved with Alys when his first “girlfriend” is also like dead to the world, not to mention the fact his son and/or nephew died gruesome death.
Here, I would like to admit I am not a fan of fetishizing Alys’ age and deeming her a “milf”. The woman was certainly more than just her looks and age. If Aemond had actually loved her – which I find highly probable  - there must have been something more than just physical attraction! In addition, in the quasi-medieval world of Ice and Fire, girls in their early teens are considered eligible maidens, so in this universe, it isn’t out of usual for women in their late, if not mid-twenties to become grandmothers! Taking the fact FnB is supposed to be a historical source by a bunch of unreliable narrators, we don’t actually know how old Alys was. If we rule out the ageless witch/ red priestess theory, we could safely assume she was, for instance, in her 40s or 30s, but knowing the Westerosi customs, well, it is still possible she was just a few years older than then-twentyish Aemond. There is also an option Alys didn’t even exist and all the war bride/captor romance was made up by pro-Black maesters and scribes, willing to paint the prince in a negative light. After all making some lowly born wet nurse his wife, Aemond would insult House Baratheon, impudently breaking the pact which had to be sealed with his marriage to Lord Borros’ daughter. You just keep in mind both the Witch Queen and Aemond’s bastard son disappear  from the “historical chronicles” shortly after the Dance ends. In addition, stressing Alys’ alleged “old age”  could have made him look ridiculous in the eyes of Westerosi readers.
Personally, I prefer to imagine Alys existed, had prophetic skills and played a significant role in Aemond’s life. Perhaps at some point, she even developed some sympathy and twisted fondness for the prince (still her captor and, yes, her rapist) but never had second thoughts about having kept it to herself that Aemond would meet his end in God’s Eye and no one could blame her for it.
To sum up, I think shipping Aemond with Helaena does not automatically make the shipper anti-“alysmond”. In my view, adding one more (for want of a better word) romantic relationship to Aemond’s arc makes sense. It could be an interesting way to show how the character’s attitude towards his love interests and his interactions with them evolve as various experiences are shaping his personality. I would never pit Helaena against Alys. They’re two different women and the fact at some points of their lives, they happened to get involved with the same guy does not make them natural born enemies. In my honest opinion, if the show version of Helaena had a chance to meet Alys (here, I mean my own idea of this character, since we don’t learn much about her from FnB and her show counterpart is still a mystery), they would become… good friends.

Softcore
Summary: Alys relishes in the sweetness of revenge with a kindred spirit.
Word count: 400
Dividers by @djarrex
“What have you seen?” he asks her bluntly in accordance with their arrangement these few moons, transactional with a tinge of trust.
Tumblr media
She feels the air shift around her as she descends, flexing her fingers by her side with discomfort. The Tower of Dread looms behind her as she glides through the open sky, the moon greeting her as she makes her way forwards with purpose. She spots him at the entrance, staring into the giant hearth, still like the absence of the habitual winds haunting the land. It is the hour of ghosts in the Hall of Hundred Hearths, the giant chambers that gloat of the residence of thousands yet their shadows remain the ones that cling to the walls. He doesn't turn to acknowledge her presence, simply lifting his head to stare at the mantelpiece above, a myriad of swords crossed over each other in formation much like the throne he seems to covet yet despise all the same.
“Nothing of significance” she responds playfully, surprising them both.
He turns to her then, displeased before she sees his eye widen in shock. The flicker of emotions that pass through that otherwise unfeeling gaze makes her smile, for in his stare she sees something of her own. Appall and wonder shine through the mirror that dangles between them as she stands before him, suppressing her glee to twirl, turning to the fire for comfort instead.
“I was owed a debt” she finds herself admitting after a pause, vague yet hopeful.
“So it seems” is all he remarks, still gazing at the droplets that cling to her. Rivulets of red coat her skin from the tips of her lashes to the womb she's tormented far too many times, blazing maroon in the light as she regards him again.
“You shall need this in the days to come” he says, cocking his head as he takes in the sight before him without a hint of discomfort.
“My thirst for blood?” she smirks inching closer to the warmth he emits. She feels him bring his palm to her face, clammy yet certain as he runs his fingers along her cheek tracing a droplet all the way to the muck on her chin before bringing it to his lips.
“Your penchant for winning” he says before tasting her victory. Blood, she thinks, has never tasted sweeter than on lips that desire the same.

Hey Bel, sorry for the wait - I've been off the grid studying for my exams. But, I have some recommendations for you! 🥰 🤗
first up, @saintaemond's entire Hotd collection is top-tier material, but my personal fave is tenderly open, revealed, as if cut in two
and then there's @patrocles's amazing work here. My top pick is definitely we, half dust, half deity
then, I highly suggest checking out AliaTurin collection, and my personal favorite is The Witch and The Dragon Prince

burning through the bloodline (born from dark water) by congratsyouvegrownasoul
At Dusk by Adadzio
Strong Dragons by Fever_Dream
Sapphires and Emeralds by theycalled
Now the final one isn’t an Alysmond story but by the author’s own admission, their OC is very Alys-coded - and I agree! Personally, I think it is one of the best Aemond/OC fics out there on ao3:

Aemond going back to his mother
English is not my first language, be kind.
Modern!Aemond
About Modern!Aemond and Modern!Alys Masterlist
Warnings: Honestly, nothing.
Tumblr media
When Aemond went back home to his mother, she ran to him and hugged him so tightly, he felt he never wanted to get out of her embrace.
He just rested his head on her shoulder and let her hug him for as long as she wanted. He had never felt this loved in the last three years. Still, despite how good this felt, he was tremendously scared. He was scared of seeing his mother’s face, he didn’t want her to look at him. He was scared she would see right through him, and be disgusted, repulsed of what his son has become.
He called her a year ago, but he had never accepted to meet her again. He was just too ashamed. Not that now he wasn’t. He couldn’t not be ashamed after what he did to Alys. After how he left her.
The house was empty, Aegon and Helaena were out, his father was at a work dinner, and Daeron was sleeping.
Aemond dropped his bag on the floor, and finally wrapped his arms around his mother, hugging her back. He didn’t know for how long they stayed like that, but when they pulled away, for him, it was still too soon. He looked down at the floor as his mother looked at him. He couldn’t meet her eyes. He knew they would have been full of love and affection, but he felt like he didn’t deserve it just yet. Alicent took his hand, and guided him in the living room, sitting on the couch with him.
“I’ve made fluffy pancakes, the ones you like.” He could hear her weak voice, how she was about to cry and he closed his eye, covering his face with his hand as he rested his elbow on his knees. Alicent immediately got worried.
“What is it? You don’t like them anymore? Do you want something else? I can-”
“No, no mum. The pancakes are just fine. I- I just… I’m really sorry mum. I’m ashamed of what I’ve put you through. Of how you are feeling now.” He turned his head, excluding her from his field of view. Alicent took a deep shaky breath, looking at his son surprised and with compassion. She put her hand on his shoulder.
“How I'm feeling now? Dear, I’m just so happy you came back.” His mother said softly, almost chuckling.
“That’s exactly the point, mum. You shouldn’t be thrilled about me coming back. Because I should have never left in the first place. You… This situation shouldn’t exist. I-I should have never left…” Aemond’s voice broke, and he just shook his head, frustrated. There was a moment of silence, as Alicent looked at his son, the regret on his face. It broke her to see him so sad, but deep down, she was proud, because he was learning from his mistakes.
“Please, Aemond, look at me.” She asked softly. Aemond immediately shook his head.
“No, I-I can’t.” He mumbled. Alicent smiled.
“Come on, I haven’t gotten that old. I’m still pretty enough to be looked at.” She joked lightly. Aemond laughed. It wasn’t that funny, but he just couldn’t stop laughing. He was exhausted by all of his emotions, he was just tired of feeling so down. Alicent laughed along with him, apparently as stressed as he was. Aemond couldn’t help himself  when they stopped laughing and he finally looked at her, smiling slightly. He met her beautiful soft, warm smile.
“You're beautiful, mum.” He said sincerely. Alicent looked at him with her eyes filled with tears, and just leant in his chest, as Aemond immediately hugged her close. They didn’t talk, they just stayed like that, enjoying each other's presence. Alicent started to cry, and Aemond only kept her closer, taking care of her mother, after all of these years.
He would be lying if he said he never thought of going back home during his relationship with Alys. He thought about it a lot of times, asking himself if she would even accept him back. He regretted not doing it sooner. He regretted all of those years with Alys. He regretted not giving his mother the love she deserved. Because she deserved it all.
“How is it going with Viserysr?” He asked then, and his mother just sighed.
“Just usual. He hasn’t changed much.” She says, with no hint of sadness. Aemond looked down at his mother. He admired how strong she was, how she has always been able to get through everything with a smile. She was surely too young to already have four kids, but she never complained about anything in her life.
She had always been devoted to Viserys, even if Aemond had serious doubts he had too. She devotedly took care of her children, never letting them without anything.
He knew she was the only one he could always trust, the only woman that will always love him unconditionally.
Aemond genuinely smiled and looked down at his mother.
“I won’t ever go away again, mum, I promise.” He said, caressing her head. Alicent looked up at him and smiled back, sitting back up.
“What you’ve been through, my son, will be something you will never forget. It is a lesson God taught you, so you will be able to make wiser decisions in the future.” She put her hand on his scarred cheek. “I am your mother, and my job is to always love you, no matter what you decide. I can tell you what I think would be best for you, but this is your life.” She smiled, her cheeks still wet from her tears. “I will never leave you alone. No matter what you do.”
Aemond nodded and put his hand over hers.
“I love you, mum.”
“I love you too, my child.”
It was strange to hear those words again, it had been a long time since the last time he heard them. Aemond smiled and stood up from the couch.
“Can we have the pancakes now?”
The morning after, Aemond went down in the kitchen, finding her mother smiling at him happily as she prepared breakfast for everyone. Daeron popped up from under the table, mouth open, surprised.
“Aemy!” He shouted as he ran and hugged his legs. Daeron was just three when he left. He almost thought he would have forgotten him. Apparently, he didn’t. Aemond bent down to pick up Daeron and he immediately hugged his neck, almost choking him.
“Slow down, Daeron, you’re getting too strong for me, kiddo.” Aemond joked as he kissed his mother’s cheek. Daeron chuckled and he started grabbing strings of his hair, lifting them up and inspecting them.
“Your hair are so long!” He mused, as Aemond pulled his head away, smirking.
“And attached to my head, so stop pulling so much.” Daeron chuckled and Aemond dropped him off on his chair, as Alicent put on the table his waffles.
“‘Morning.” Aegon stepped in the kitchen and he looked at Aemond, as he turned to see him. Aegon smiled sincerely, and put his hand on his shoulder.
“Welcome back, brother.” He said, Aemond nodded his head, and Aegon moved forward, plopping on his chair, rubbing his eyes. He then heard a loud rumble of steps, and he suddenly found himself with Helaena on his back, as she hugged him close and wrapped her legs around his waist. He chuckled and picked her up.
“You’re back!” She exclaimed happily. She jumped down and smiled cheerfully at him, as they both went sitting at the table. Alicent brought the last plates, and sat down with them.
Aemond looked around himself, as pure chaos of voices began, with all the blunting of Daeron, Alicent answering him, and Aegon and Helaena already fighting. He shook his head as he tried to hide a smirk.
Just like old times.

Alys and Aemond's son is named after Criston
I just realized it, and I'm screaming, crying, throwing up
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just put together that the following two events happen in quick succession:
Criston is killed at the Butcher’s Ball
Aemond returns to Harrenhal and gets Alys (now visibly pregnant) back from Sabitha Frey
Aemond's dad dies while he is expecting his firstborn
And this is Aemond, of all people! I know we joke about how he's a momma's boy, but he's a total daddy's boy too. His dad is basically his best friend. He trusts him enough to confide in him about his traumatic 13th birthday, to tell him about his quasi-treasonous fraternal jealousy. Aemond and Criston spend so much time together in the training yard. Aemond's toast at dinner is so him mimicking what Criston did with Harwin, because he watches his dad all the time and learns from him.
Of course, of course Aemond is going to name his son after Criston

Loyalty teaser (chapter 13)
True to his word, Lady Jenna entered, alone. "My dear Y/n. It must have been a long journey." She gave you a hug and then looked down at Owen. "He is a very handsome boy. You named him after your father?" "Yes, My Lady." A door opened and a maid entered holding a tray. She placed it on the writing desk and departed. Lady Jenna waited till she left before telling out to sit. "It is good to see you after so long. And you have been a wonderful source of information." This felt more than slightly demeaning. You felt no more than a prop used by Lady Jenna. In return for all your service she had situated you here. "When will I have my ladies?" Lady Jenna took a sip of wine. "I will have Lady Cerilla attend you." She might as well have poured a bucket of cold water over your head. 'P....pardon my Lady Jenna. Lady Cerilla." You prayed that it was a mistake, perhaps there was another Lady Cerilla. But that hope was quickly dashed when a familiar red headed girl slunk in, a sneer upon her pale face.
