i will say. i have no idea what horse i want next (assuming i can afford to have another horse). Romeo is no longer rideable for me, and most lesson barns are just not going to have a horse big enough for me to ride. For wiggle room / insurance that I won't outgrow another horse, I am genuinely wondering if draft or draft mule isnt my best bet? the only other option imo is to pick out whatever the chunkiest quarter horse is and cross my fingers.

#i know mules work different than a horse dont @ me #also riding trained drafts and mules are not a thing here for under 20k so like. chances are id have to break a horse or #be able to afford a starter #so #the likely hood is slim to none #literally my future budget is less than 1k to get the horse which does not inspire confidence for finding a horse #that has the things i need it to have #such as: carrying a 260lb person #not making me look stupidly tall #not being outright dangerous #being surefooted would be a plus too #my cousins horse is not and handles well manicured trails poorly #and thats not the vibe for me #my ideal perfect beautiful horse is a seal bay who can hack out alone and handle all terrain #who can recover quickly from spooks #who can actually carry me at a trot and canter #maybe even try out the worlds tiniest jump?#idk i just want a horse i can become a better rider on and also just. go do things with #and romeo is not that horse #hes 26 and herd bound. he cant carry me at a walk anymore #and has never been cleared to carry my weight above a trot #so theres me. having owned a horse for 5 years #never having cantered on a horse
