Thinking about how Spamton uploads his entire being onto that empty disk and then just GIVES IT to Kris. Sure, he might recognize their situation and he calls them a friend, but he's known them for only a few hours, and in that time frame he's attacked them, sold them poison and broken items, and has barely gotten to know them at all

For all he knows, Kris could do terrible things with that disk. They could break it as soon as they leave his shop, they could put it in something other than the neo body, they could not use it at all and just keep him trapped in there, they could take it to the light world where who knows what would happen to it, they could figure out how to edit the disk and just start adding or deleting things off it, they could lose it or have it stolen...no matter what, Spamton literally has no control over Kris' actions when he gives it to them

And it’s not even really up to Kris what happens to it! Spamton is essentially handing his heart and soul over to US and is praying that we be gentle with it. I think that maybe Kris would have wanted to try to help Spamton by putting the disk into the machine, and that they’d be careful (based off of their reaction when dropping the ball of junk and playing cards in the light world, they know when an item is not to be messed around with), but we honestly don’t know what they would have done if we weren’t there to tell them what to do

But even if Spamton is aware of the player, he makes it clear that he’s intending to give the disk to KRIS, and that’s equally worrying. He probably knows on some level that Kris is just some stranger, a lost kid, and he should be more careful than to do something like that, but he is just at the end of his rope here. He's feeling like Kris is his last chance, so he's going to ask them nicely to do this favor for him and he'll hope that they help him instead of hurting him.

He knows that Kris can't fully control themself either, and that adds to the risk, but that's also the thing that makes him want to trust them so much. And it's why he knows so much about them while also just being another stranger to them. But someone in a situation like Kris is in is probably the only one who can help Spamton, if he can even be helped, and that's why he decides to try it anyway. Honestly, this whole concept is pretty terrifying for Spamton, Kris, AND the player. 

I have just been thinking about this so much. Spamton gets some things wrong but he's a pretty good judge of his own character at least, he really IS desperate :(
