I dont know if I told you this but I have been playing animal crossing city folk and won the fishing tourney by digging holes around where they turn in the fish so no one could turn in anything bigger than mine. And now I have spent the entire night learning how to play the sims 4. I usually love sitting home all night anyway so social distancing just makes it so I dont feel guilty about it 😂 (but also I live alone so lack of talking is weird but I have been fine the last 2 weeks so far)
I’ve never heard of anyone CHEATING the fishing tourney before oh my fucking god, I’m losing it, that’s so fucking funny. I’ve never played the sims besides one gba game but I’ve always wanted too, I hope you’re having a good time with it. And I totally feel the social distancing easing the guilt of just doing nothing

You may be thinking why are we looking at Backyard Soccer? Well in a world where sports games are all about being ultra realistic and sim based. Backyard Soccer was there reminding us what it was like to be kids, playing soccer with our buddies, picking our own teams and maybe even playing together in an actual league!

One of the weirder things about the 2004 version of Backyard Soccer was that the game got the rights to start using the MLS license. This lets you play as the actual MLS teams which I guess can be fun if you think about working your way up to playing as one of them.
Plenty of Time on The Pitch!
Backyard Soccer actually has quite a lot of game modes. The main “campaign” is Season Play. This is where you set out to win different leagues. B Division Championship, A Division Championship, Premier Division, Indoor Soccer Tournament and the awesomely named, Astonishingly Shiny Cup of All Cup’s Cup are there for you to win.You can also play a single match and practice your penalty kicks. Two other options at the menu screen are, first of all, learn about the different players that you can select for your team and also the Hall of Fame mode. The Hall of Fame mode is cool as you can track how well you have done as you have played the games.
Picking The Right Kids
One thing that is really fun in Backyard Soccer is the way that you put your team together. All of the kids are sitting on the bleachers and you can select your dream team of players. When you click on one of the kids you can see their stats. They have individual stats for kicking, ball control, defense and running. You and the AI (or another player) take turns picking players until you each have a team. You will pick eight kids to make up your team and then you have to decide who your 6 staring players are and who your 2 substitutes are. You can pick what positions the kids play in so it is important to pay attention to their stats you play them in the right position so that they can best benefit your team. This is kind of cool as this is a kids game, it teaches kids to think about positioning.
Playing the Beautiful Game
The actual gameplay of Backyard Soccer is a bit more slow paced than you would expect. You can play with a keyboard, controller or even the mouse. You also have different difficulty options and you can adjust the rules such as offside, how long the game lasts and so on. So you do have a lot of say in how the game is actually played. There are also power-ups that can be used which give the game a kind of Mario Strikers feel to it which is pretty cool.
In all Backyard Soccer is a fun kids game. It has more depth than you would think and for a younger kid, I do think that there is a lot of fun to be had here. If you are a parent looking for a fun sports game to play with your child and they love soccer. I really do think that you could do a lot worse than Backyard Soccer. You just have to keep in mind that this is a game that is aimed at kids.

Tag Game
I got tagged by @shippingeruri (Thanks for taking me into account ♥)
Rules:
1. Always post the rules
2. Answer the questions given by the person who tagged you
3. Write 11 questions of your own
4. Tag 11 people
1. Your role in school: Are / Were you the class clown? The bully? The loner? The diva? Let us know!
I was the girl without any friends because of my good grades and my poor economic situation. I was bullied verbally and physically and always alone. Even the teachers bullied me because I didn’t have money to buy the books and materials to work on class. But thanks to that I have a strong personality now I think. Also, I didn’t feel as miserable as I should have felt though.
2. If you could change one thing in your life, what would it be and why? (Can be in the present or something from the past)
I’d say I wasted my youth, I should have tried to learn something, any language or tried harder with the drawing, idk. I spent my teenager years in front of a computer doing absolutely nothing productive, and now I wish I have time to learn a lot of things, but I don’t have it.
3. Which book / movie / tv show / game have you read / watched / played multiple times?
Books: Memoirs of a Geisha, The perfume, some of the Harry Potter saga, and some books from my country.
Movies: I just can’t name all of them bc I have seen almost all movies that I’ve watched on my life multiple times. But I’d say The Terminal and Strange Magic are my fave ones and consequently the ones I’ve watched more times.
TV shows: I think The simpsons and several seasons of American next top model and survivors hahaha (I’ve never had cable tv so I had to watch the national tv channels which always repeats all shows)
Games: I’m not that gamer but most of the games I’ve played on my life I played more than once. But the ones I’ve played more times are The sims 1, 2, and the ones for GBA. Harvest Moon Back to nature and Friends of mineral Town. The Legend of Zelda Minish Cap, Crash team racing, Crash Trilogy, and most recently Dragon Age 2 (bc is really short)
4. What is the most important thing or person in your life at the moment?
Well, there is a big difference between things and persons so I’ll answer both:
Person: My mom
Thing: Can I say my collection? is not exactly a single thing, but I could get rid of everything I have except for my collection
5. Do you let creators for your fandom(s) know that you appreciate their work? If yes: How? If no: Why?
When I read fics I use to leave long reviews, as I like to receive them in my fics. I’m not so active about drawings because I feel like I’m nothing compared with good artists, also the really good artists sells their works and I don’t think they like comments but people buying their art... I know also that japanese artist don’t like non-japanese people commenting on their art (experiences from other people that have told me) and idk in general I don’t think drawing artists likes comments or encouraging but money (not all of them but I wouldn’t like to find out in the bad way...) I know I must be wrong, but I’m also very shy even on the internet..
6. Have you ever sent anon hate? If yes: Why?
No, actually I don’t think I’ve ever sent an anon
7. Are you happy with your current occupation? If yes: What are you doing? If not: What would you like to do / be instead?
I’m a business process analyst, not because I have knowledge or a degree but because I’ve learned while working. I wouldn’t say I like or dislike it, let’s say I’m just comfortable. My pay is good and I do almost nothing the whole month except for the first week, also I have flexible schedule, and a lot of benefits. My work conditions are great, but my job is boring most of the times.
8. Have you ever created something for your fandom (art / writing / video / etc.) and haven’t published it?
I don’t think so, actually I can’t have a fic or drawing done and without publishing it, even if nobody likes/reads it, I just feel the need of posting everything on internet. Also it helps me to have a backup of my works, I already have lost several drawings that I’ve never posted bc crashed computers or ruined drives.
9. What’s your attitude towards pineapple on pizza?
It’s funny for me that almost all people liked it until it became a trending topic on internet to hate it. Also it’s ironic that my last name literally is ‘Pineapples’ (in Spanish) but I don’t like to eat them, but it’s more ironic that the only way I can eat pineapple is on a pizza. I really like it.
10. What’s your ideal mix of genres for a fanfic?
It would be fluff and drama :)
11. What’s your favourite song at the moment?
At the momment I have 2 songs that I can’t stop hearing: Don’t fear the reaper by Blue Oyster cult and  Kyōran Hey Kids!! by The Oral Cigarettes
My “questions”:
Sorry I will have to skip this part of the game, I don’t know 11 people here, besides I’m reaaaaally bad at thinking on questions :(

I really love this game, but let me tell you something: it is a damn mess! And I don’t mean mess in regards to presentation/story, though it doesn’t really win any awards in those regards, the visuals are something you could probably get from a GBA and the story is the very definition of ‘average.’
But the real mess comes from the mechanics. Where do I begin?
You know how in most RPGs, you get party members who were once your enemies before they come along on you journey to do a thing? Well, Luminous Arc has that, too! It also has a New Game + feature that carries over character levels. Now, in any other game, the repeated boss fights with those future party members would be the exact same, because they are stored as different enemies in the game’s data. But here? NOPE, you’re fighting a NG+ version of that character and by that, I mean that you’re fighting the character as you left them before restarting, with their level and skills retained. Which means that if you happened to have invested a lot more in a character like Vanessa (who you fight fairly often) over you other characters and why wouldn’t you, she’s very good and what she does and what she does is burn things. But that could easily land you in the position of having to fight a level 80-something Vanessa with a much weaker party, because you got complacent and over-reliant on your witches. And don’t even get me started on the 4-witch rumble later on, because it’s basically a fight against the characters that the game will condition you to rely on for the rest of the game.
And why is that?
Because the balance in this game is an absolute joke. For context’s sake, this game was developed by Image Epoch, the same people who made Stella Glow, another game with character balancing issues (admit it, people who played that game, you didn’t bother using the likes of Ewan, Keith or Veronica. Admit it!) But if balance wasn’t a concern when developing Stella Glow, it wasn’t even a thought when designing Luminous Arc. Mainly due to the witches.
Tumblr media
Now typically, characters tend to specialize in a specific role, like support or long/short-ranged combat, but the witches completely break that trend by basically being boss characters. Rather fitting, seeing as 2/3′s of them are fought as bosses. They cover pretty much everything: short-range combat, long-range combat (because magic) and support- especially support. Buffs, debuffs status ailments, they pretty much do it all. As for healers, you don’t just get one healer to keep track of, you get four and that’s just the witches. Also breaking the game is our protagonist, Alph, who becomes godlike near the last third of the game and Leon, who is a horrific god of death in human form, who learns an attack that can easily kill anything (even the final boss) in one hit. And then there’s everybody else, who... is there, I guess? You get a sea lion on legs, but he kinda sucks.
That’s a thing.
Now let’s talk about grinding, the ever essential method of making your characters into the unholy murder beasts they were meant to be! Now, I’m just going to explain a few thing’s about LA’s EXP system:
1: Units level up when they reach have 100 EXP.
2: Upon leveling up, that unit’s HP and MP are fully restored.
3: When a unit buffs or heals an allied unit, they will always receive 30 EXP.
Can you see the problem here?
Now, you can grind the old-fashioned way and you need to with characters that can’t exploit the above-mentioned buff/heal nonsense, but why?
But you want to know what’s really fucked up about the EXP system?
There’s a character that has a spell that has a 75% chance to insta-kill any unit, as long as they’re not a higher level than her. She can cast this spell on herself and it can either succeed or fail and if it fails, she gets 5 EXP.                  A character can get EXP and possibly level up off of attempted suicide.
What the actual fuck.
Also, this isn’t really a mechanics/technical issue, but something that really bothers me- I really don’t like how this game doesn’t have multiple endings. The game is basically part dating sim, after battles you pick a character and have a little chat to build up their affinity and earn free stuff, but it never goes any further than that. And to spoil the story a bit, before Alph’s class change, he has to pair up with one of the witches and you have no say in which witch he pairs up with. Maybe you wanted to choose Vivi or Mavi or Vivi or Claire or Vivi or Vanessa or possibly Vivi, but no. You get stuck with Lucia.
Tumblr media
Lucia sucks, as both a character and a unit. She’s a textbook tsundere with no other interesting qualities and is the least useful of the witches. She gets light magic, but you hardly ever face dark enemies, so that’s kinda pointless. She can heal, but who can’t in this game? Hell, she can’t even revive units like Mel or Cecile can, so there’s no real reason to use her.
Also, her outfit is damn silly, even by JRPG standards. What are those things on her arms supposed to be? Some kinda reverse sleeves?
Again, I like this game, but everything about it is just a mess.
At least that’s more than I can say for the sequel, which is just kinda boring. Granted, I’m not done with it yet, but the pacing is just so... blah.
