AUTHOR'S NOTE: IF YOU ARE NOT A SUPERCORP or SANVERS STAN PLEASE KINDLY SCROLL PAST THIS. APOLOGIES FOR THE LONG POST. I can't do the 'Keep Reading' thing-y since I'm using my phone. Sorry again. ✌️
The Drinking Game That Is To Be Played Never Again.
She woke up with a pounding headache. There was a groan to her right that was too fucking loud. It vaguely registers to her that the groan was from her girlfr-fiancé.
Any other time and Alex would have smiled at that thought; that Maggie was in her bed. Maggie woke up next to her. Maggie the love of her life. The one she would grow old with. The one who she'll raise dogs with and-Fuck! She was also the one who caused this whole killer hangover in the first place.
Stupid. Stupid drinking game. Stupid Lena Luthor and her 'darling,'. Stupid Kara who's a stupid Kryptonian. Oh god, she's going to throw up.
"Shh, no loud noises." She what- If Alex could get 65 percent of her brain to function properly right now she would've already yelled at Maggie. (She had the fucking audacity to tell Alex to shut up. She hasn't even said anything at all!) This was her fault after all. But she feels like shit. And truthfully, she can never yell at her.
Instead she settles for trying to put herself in an upright position and trudges to the bathroom. Last night's events hitting her full force.
The Night Before...
They were at the alien bar. J'onn fetching them drinks over at M'gann and Maggie poolstick cockily propped and leaning back at the pool table as she watches James take his turn. Lena and Kara has yet to show up.
She walks over to Maggie and gives her a quick peck. "Is it just me or is it terribly boring tonight?" Maggie whispers, not low enough apparently because James is chiming in with a, "You're only saying that because you're losing to me, Sawyer."
To which her girlfriend-her fiancé (*swoon* sounds even better) responded with an eye roll. James just chuckled and poked her lightly with a poolstick before, "Hey guys!"
And that's Kara Danvers right there, and of course if Kara's here it is only right to assume that (ah yes, Lena Luthor, hand firmly in Kara's own.) Lena was also already here.
They transfer to a much larger booth and before long the gang was completed, Brainy and Nia finally arriving. Drinks and conversation were flowing naturally when Alex turned to Maggie, "Still bored?"
"Actually, yes. How about we make this night a bit interesting?" Maggie purred in her ear.
"I'm in. What do you have in mind?"
"Can the two love birds opposite me stop being disgustingly flirty and actually join in the conversation?!"
Alex sticks her tongue out at her little sister.
"A drinking game." It takes two seconds for Alex to realize that Maggie had answered her question.
"Oh? What kind of drinking game?"
Maggie gives her a conspiratorial smile and tilts her head to Lena's and Kara's direction before saying, "Every time Luthor addresses Kara as 'Darling' we drink."
Alex laughs, oh, this will be fun. Not to mention this will totally get them drunk. It was a running joke now; when Kara and Lena will finally just get it over with. It was amusing at first but after a while it gets a bit painful and frustrating to watch. Because if you have ever been stuck with Lena and Kara (even if only once) you'll see how goddamn awful they are when they're being lovey-dovey. And Kara still swears they're not dating.
Alex knows she's tipsy by the way she can hear her own words slur and by the way the usually composed Detective Sawyer is giggling. (Giggling for heaven's sake!) That's when James sneaks into the picture.
"What's got the two of you so giggly?" He asks eyes darting between the both of them and a playful grin on his lips.
"OOooh, come here Jimmy Boy," Maggie lets go of Alex to lean in closer to James then she whispers, "Prove to us that you are the worthy and almighty Guardian by not cowering from this challenge."
Was it just Alex or did Maggie sound old-time-y?
"What?" James asks laughing at whatever it is Maggie had said.
" YOU MUST JOIN OUR DRINKING GAME!" Did she also sound old-time-y? Alex hadn't meant to be so loud but apparently she had also caught Brainy, J'onn and Nia's attention.
Somewhere in her fuzzy brain she thinks shouldn't there be two more people here? But Alex was really, really drunk.
"Oh, sounds fun what are the rules?" Nal Dreamer Nia-Dreamer Nal(???) says. She was a superhero too, right?
Alex didn't even know how she managed to blurt out the mechanics but suddenly Lena's back at the table with Kara stumbling behind her, cheeks suspiciously red and wait was that a lipstick stain?? But Nia and Brainy had already taken three shots simultaneously and Alex was having too much fun to care about whatever it was on her sister's neck. J'onn refused to join in insisting that somebody had to supervise them.
"Your loss." Maggie had told J'onn before gulping a shot because,
"Kara, darling, no. That was last week wasn't it?"
Another drink.
"Darling, actually we still hadn't decided yet."
Fifth, fucking fifth. It was her fifth shot. At the back of her mind somebody's telling her it was actually her seventh.
"I already told Sam, darling."
"Yes, sure darling, Wednesday works.
"Kara, would you mind holding my purse, darling?"
"That's it-no more. I quit." James was the first to tap out.
"Quit what?" Kara asks, confusion coloring her face.
"Quit! This new uh virtual game that Brainy and James had been playing." Oh thank God for Nia. Kara didn't bat another eyebrow although that may have to do with the fact that Lena's talking to her again and everyone knows that nobody can really reach Kara if it's Lena in front of her.
"Darling-"
Alex wants to cry. She doesn't even know what drink this is.
"Very funny, darling."
She thinks Brainy is now actually crying.
"Are you drunk? I'M DRUNKKK."
"Oh, babe we are so wasted, right now."
"I'm smashed. Smashed. SMASHED. Is it even a word?" that's Nia's voice, right(???)
"Darling, I think you're sister is gonna fall over."
Maggie downs another drink.
Kara catches her. "Okay, that's enough for you."
"No, no no, not yet. We're still playing."
"Playing what?" Was that Lena and her CEO voice?????
"A game that Detective Maggie Sawyer had designed to get us all drunk. With the mechanics being-" James bumps into Brainy knocking him down and cutting him off.
Kara immediately springs into action, M'gann looking unfazed at all. This isn't her first time dealing with wasted customers.
"I think it's time everybody went home."
"Hm. Agree with CEO lady here."
"You take Alex and Maggie, I'll take James, Brainy and Nia?"
The question was directed at J'onn.
"Nonsense, darling, I'll call my driver and get them rides home. No need to exert all that flying effort."
Weren't they supposed to do something when Lena says 'darling'?
The Very Very Very, Ache-y Morning After...
"Please tell me we have coffee."
"We have coffee."
"I love you."
"Don't know if I could say the same to you, babe. I mean this is technically your fault."
"Nope." Maggie pops the 'p'
"This is the doing of two idiots in love who still hadn't stopped being idiots."
"Ugh God, yes. You're right, do you think I should give Kara a 'Get-Your-Shit-Together' Speech?" Alex ponders for a moment, Maggie shrugs and adds, "Yes do that. But make sure to make it gay, alright?"
"Of course. Wonder how the others are doing. I think I'm gonna tell J'onn I'm not going in today." Alex places the mugs on the table and grabs her phone before planting a sloppy kiss on Maggie's cheek.
"Remind me to never trust you into roping me to a drinking game again."
"Go call your boss, Danvers!"
Bonus:
"I gotta go check on Alex."
"Mm. Do you really? We can just stay here and cuddle. Or-not cuddle and do other, activities instead." Lena purrs and Kara was really, really, genuinely tempted to just climb back under the covers and feel Lena's naked skin against hers.
"Lena, it is kind of our fault that they got hammered last night." Kara says, leaning in and giving a kiss to the corner of Lena's lips.
"It really isn't darling, if Maggie hadn't proposed a drinking game. All of them would have turned out fine." Lena had overheard the detective's clever little plan and had told Kara, last night when she pulled her to the bathroom before deliciously devouring her neck.
"Well, yeah. But it is our fault that we didn't tell them immediately that we're dating therefore pushing them to do that drinking game."
"Hm? And here I thought you loved the thought of keeping me all to yourself."
"I do, I reallly do."
"Well, I'm all yours, darling."
Bonus++
"Kara? What are you doing here-Wait no, it's fine. Come in. I have a speech to tell you anyway."
"I have something to tell you-wait what do you mean a speech?"
"Yeah, it's the 'Get-Your-Shit-Together' Speech." Alex says in such a serious tone that it left no room for argument.
"But gay." Maggie chimes in, walking over to the both of them keys in hand, "Well I gotta go, hope you get your gay shit together, Little Danvers. Bye babe, love you."
It takes approximately 5 seconds later after Maggie had closed the door when,
"WAIT—YOU'RE DATING WHO?!!!!!!"

Feats of Strength
A little fun feat. Flirtatious Lena (TM) + Flustered Kara. Lena has some wine and challenges Kara to arm wrestle at game night. There’s a surprising winner.
Thank you @weinzapfel for putting this idea in my head yesterday- I hope I did it justice! Thank you to @gay4katiemcgrath for making it a bit more extra.
Enjoy!
Lena crosses the threshold to Kara’s apartment confidently; more confidently than the first time, and even more than the second or third. This is her fourth game night, and as such, she’s an expected regular by now. An almost certified, almost accepted member of the Superfriends.
Almost.
There’s just that small minor detail about Kara’s double identity that hasn’t quite been discussed out in the open. Lena knows, figures it out easily, really, but Kara doesn’t. It’s torturous and maddening, but Lena is willing to put up with it to have friends. It’s the first time she’s really had a group of people around that are willing to look past the Luthor name and just see her for who she is: driven, competitive, brilliant, but also gentle, gracious and kind. In other words, just Lena. It’s worth remaining on the outside a little longer for this kind of attention.
But it doesn’t mean she won’t make Kara pay for it.
Not in a vindictive way, and certainly not with anything malicious. Lena knows that at her core, Kara is warm and strong and everything good in the world, and she would never ever do anything to jeopardize their relationship. Really, Lena would give anything to protect her, even if the unbreakable Kryptonian doesn’t need saving. No. Lena will make her pay in other ways. Teasing ways. Fun ways.
Ways that only this particular Luthor could make her pay.
Lena is sure there’s something between them, even if they both refuse to acknowledge it. There’s a tension, a weird, strange connection that goes beyond family legacies. There’s an energy, and a fierce attraction. Lena feels it growing every day, with every passing glance, and every meaningful gesture. She sees it in the way Kara stumbles over her words and gets flustered when Lena is near her. It’s the same way Lena feels absolutely tongue-tied whenever Kara so much as glances in her direction. It could be the burden of hiding a part of herself, but Lena feels Kara is hiding more than just her alter ego.
“Lena!”
Kara calls out to her with flashing eyes and a wide smile, and Lena almost forgets everything including her own name.
“I’m so glad you’re here!” Kara exclaims, dragging her in by her forearm with enough force to almost knock her off balance, but enough grace to avoid catastrophe. “I made everyone wait for you before we started playing, because as last week’s winner, you get to pick the first game!”
Lena smirks at Kara as she allows herself to be pulled in, making eye contact with the others slowly as she does so. Alex tips her beer in a fond salute, and Maggie grins at her under hooded eyes. James and Winn both wave enthusiastically, before resuming a hushed conversation that Lena can only imagine has to do with a video game they’re both terrible at. She smiles at the thought. She likes that she knows these people enough to feel comfortable. Kara steers her to the couch, taking the wine bottles she’s brought as an offering and gestures for her to make herself at home. Lena sits down carefully, only to be joined by Kara a few moments later right next to her, in the spot that seems to always be reserved for them. The thought warms her chest and forces a small, uncontrollable smile cross her lips.
“We couldn’t start without you,” Kara reiterates, looking earnestly at Lena and handing her a glass of wine. “It just isn’t the same anymore unless you’re here!”
Lena feels that tug again. The one that tells her they’re trending in a very interesting direction. The one she can’t fight against no matter how hard she tries. The only way to deal with Kara in situations like these, in such close proximity, with her adoring eyes and gushing compliments, is to have a full drink by her side at all times. She sips her wine gratefully.
The group settle in to play several rounds of Uno, notably not Lena’s choice, but she knows the crowd she’s with and wanted to choose something everyone would be happy with. More importantly, she wanted something that they could only half pay attention to, because the conversations are really the best part of the night.
Until it gets chippy. Then it’s even better.
Several rounds in, Lena is feeling warm and buzzed, the wine coursing through her veins pleasantly. It helps to keep her only mildly aware of the way Kara’s leg is touching hers consistently. Instead of being driven to the point of insanity, she’s able to stand Kara’s warmth, and even give her a few teasing touches of her own.
“Winn, don’t make me destroy you,” Kara threatens suddenly as Winn throws another draw 4 card down in triumph.
“As if you could!” Winn replies, receiving several skeptical stares in the process. He notes the room and points accusingly. “Hey! That was one time, and arm wrestling is not my thing! Try me at any other contest, and you’ll see…” he trails off as everyone shakes their heads, writing him off.
“I think,” Lena drawls, running her lips lazily over her glass of wine before taking a slow sip. She places the glass down and stares at Kara. “I could beat Kara in an arm wrestling match.”
The only down side to the 3 glasses of wine she’s already downed is the way her competitive side shines through, along with her Luthor confidence. It makes challenging Kara way too easy, and way too appealing. She has a feeling Kara, with her decided advantage in feats of strength won’t actually try, but it doesn’t mean Lena won’t provoke her.
Kara nearly chokes on her food as her eyes widen in amusement. She stares around at the others, who are looking just as surprised, before she bursts out laughing.
“Lena!” Kara cries out, almost tauntingly, as she shakes her head. She waves it off, but looks at Lena again with questioning eyes.
Lena clenches her jaw, her eyebrow shooting up in a smug challenge.
“You--” Kara begins, startled. “You’re serious?”
“Unless you’re afraid to lose, of course,” Lena shrugs, pursing her lips in a calculated snarl.
“I--I wouldn’t lose!” Kara refutes, “I would feel bad beating you!”
“That’s some steely confidence, Kara,” Lena muses, grinning slightly. “It suits you.”
Kara swallows hard, which only fuels Lena’s buzz further.
“Um, she beat me handily, I’m just throwing that out there,” Winn says sheepishly, nodding at Kara.
“I could also beat you handily, Winn, but that’s an argument for a different day,” Lena retorts, and Winn snaps his mouth shut quickly.
“Lena, be serious! I don’t want to hurt you.”
“Oh, you’ll hardly hurt me, Kara. This isn’t my first rodeo,” Lena pushes her sleeves up, folding them neatly and pressing the fabric over her elbow. She watches Kara without blinking.
“I--” Kara sighs, her shoulders slumping in defeat. “Fine. But don’t say I didn’t warn you!”
“That settles it then,” Lena nods, her eyes narrowing on Kara like prey. “Game on, Ms. Danvers.”
Lena and Kara take their positions across from each other at the kitchen island. Lena places her elbow on the table and positions her arm, smirking at Kara as she readies herself. Kara has a grim look on her face as she mimics Lena’s position and puts her opposite arm up for the contest. Alex shakes her head and settles herself on the stool between the two.
“First of all, I’ll have you both know, that you’re ridiculous,” she says, and Lena shoots her a quick glare. Alex rolls her eyes. “Elbows stay on the table, if they lift, you lose. Whoever gets the other person’s hand to touch the table, wins. I’m not taking anyone to the hospital, so keep that in mind. Luthor, I’m mostly talking to you.”
Kara raises her eyebrows knowingly at Lena, as if to give her one more chance to bail, but Lena only shakes her head, her lips parted in a disbelieving smile.
“I don’t know, I think I’m team Luthor,” Maggie shrugs, nodding in Lena’s direction. “Sorry, Kara.”
“Thank you, Maggie. Nice to know I’ve got someone in my corner,” Lena smirks, before turning her eyes back to Kara. Kara exhales sharply under her gaze, before reaching her hand reluctantly out for Lena to take. Lena clenches her jaw before extending her own.
They join hands and Alex covers theirs with her own.
“Ready--Go!” Alex lifts her hands and the two stay deadlocked in a comfortable upright position. Neither push against each other, or really attempt to do anything. Lena knows Kara is holding back, and she grins.
“Not even going to try?” Lena asks innocently.
“Are you?” Kara challenges back.
Lena bites her lip and pushes against Kara, only using about a quarter of her strength. Kara’s eyebrows furrow as her hand shifts slightly, before she easily applies the same pressure to keep them even.
Lena tilts her head thoughtfully, catching Kara’s eyes as she smiles softly at her.
“For what it’s worth, you really are strong,” Lena purrs, licking her lips slightly. “You weren’t kidding.”
Kara inhales sharply at the compliment, adjusting her glasses with her free hand, which allows Lena to apply more pressure against her other hand. The action sends Kara’s arm back slightly once again. Kara squeals at the surprise attack.
“Lena!”
“Did I hurt you, Kara?” Lena asks, feigning concern, before a bright smile appears over her face.
“You’re enjoying this way too much for someone who is going to lose,” Kara deadpans, her competitive side shining through. Lena feels her stomach flutter at Kara’s sudden intensity, and it only gives her more reason to go ahead with her plan.
Kara pushes against her with more force than before, angling Lena’s hand back a bit. Lena watches the action with amusement, her lips twisting as she contemplates.
She reaches for her wine glass with her free hand, leaning dangerously forward over the table, very much aware of the low neckline of her blouse. Her eyes catch Kara’s as they finish trailing over her exposed skin, and her own face flushes as she watches Kara’s cheeks turn a noticeable crimson. Kara shakes her head slightly before looking away, clearly flustered. Lena smirks before pushing Kara’s arm with considerable force.
“Oh--!” Kara exclaims at the unexpected movement, which gives Lena a definite advantage. Kara takes a pause before gritting her teeth. She steers their arms back to the starting position.
“Distractions won’t work, Lena,” Kara warns, calling her out. It’s bold, and it makes Lena more determined than ever, particularly since Kara’s wrong. Distractions absolutely will work. They just have to be well timed and well executed.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Lena chuckles, shaking her head, her eyes never leaving Kara’s.
Kara narrows her eyes behind her glasses and twists her lips, as she pushes against Lena with more force. Lena has to try a little harder to ward her off, which makes her own competitive side come out of hiding.
Ever so slightly under the table, Lena kicks off her shoe before extending her foot to come into contact with Kara’s unsuspecting leg. She trails her foot slowly around Kara’s ankle, watching for any sign of unrest from Kara. Slowly but surely, as she inches her foot up Kara’s leg, she sees Kara’s breath hitch and her arm waver. Lena continues to trace up Kara’s leg, delighting in the feel of it as well as Kara’s obvious enjoyment of their under table contact. Lena lulls her into a false sense of security, continuing to ease her way up Kara’s leg, watching as Kara’s eyes flutter softly at her touch. Her foot slides under the fabric of Kara’s pants, directly against her skin, and it takes everything in her power to keep her own arm steady. She’s almost lost in the feeling herself, desperately wishing for more, but holding fast to her objective. Kara is oblivious, and Lena can feel her almost quivering. Then, she makes her move.
Summoning all her strength, she pushes Kara’s arm as hard as she can, forcing it completely down to the other side of the table. Kara’s eyes snap up in absolute shock, as the rest of the room stays silent, trying to figure out what just happened.
“You totally cheated!” Kara declares, jumping off her stool and pointing at Lena. “There’s no way that was fair!”
“How did I cheat?” Lena exclaims, pretending to be shocked, but secretly reveling in Kara’s dramatics.
“You know how you cheated!” Kara crosses her arms and looks at her pointedly.
“She let her win, right?” Winn whispers to Alex, and Alex stares from Lena to Kara and back again before throwing her arms up in exasperation.
“I’m done with all of you,” Alex groans, turning to head back to the kitchen to grab another drink. Maggie offers her hand out to Lena with a grin, and Lena returns the high five with enthusiasm.
Once everyone clears out, Lena turns to Kara who is still staring at her in disbelief.
“You did that on purpose,” Kara says, a small smile sneaking out over pouty lips.
“Oh, obviously,” Lena agrees smugly, sliding off her chair gracefully and walking over to where Kara is pouting. She leans tantalizingly close, trailing her lips over Kara’s ear, delighting in the obvious shiver that she’s rewarded with. She pauses before whispering, “Did you forget that I’m a Luthor, Supergirl?”

The thing I wanted to do for Day 1 that I ended up not having time for because of moving was an au where Kara was still sent to earth and raised by the Danvers, but Krypton never died (a civil war or invasion or something similar made her parents decide to send her away). Kara and Alex return to Krypton as adults (either they received a signal that the disaster was over, or adult Kara wanted to go back and help), [1/2]
and that’s when Astra and Alex meet (Astra may have spent time in the phantom zone in this universe as well, I never worked out the details). So, um, if you’re inspired? [2/2]
Why yes, I did get inspired, and I sincerely hope you like it, because I sure did like this verse ^_^
Also on Ao3
Kara looks like she’s about to cry when a response comes through the radio, giving her the okay to dock their ship on one of Krypton’s stations, and it’s hard to tell if it’s because she’s back on her home planet, or because she’s (hopefully) about to meet her family again.
When Alex looks at the planet, all she sees is the ruins of a raging war.
Kara’d told her about that, about why her mother sent her to Earth, about how Krypton and Daxam had always disagreed on what was an acceptable way of living, but how they’d kept a terse peace despite it.
That had all changed when a certain General - who happened to be Kara’s aunt - had gotten fed up with their keeping of slaves and led a rogue mission to rescue a great many of them. It had been viewed as an act of war on Krypton’s behalf, and Daxam had been merciless when they struck back, as evident by the crumbled buildings and the craters scattered across the planet.
The General had been sentenced a decade in Krypton’s maximum security prison for the reckless actions that had started this war, stripped of her rank.
By the lack of current action, Alex thinks Kara had been right in her initial assumption in that the war was over now. A call to her spy beacon for her to be able to return safely, not a distress call as Alex had feared.
The moment they land Kara practically jumps out of the spacecraft, and Alex can see two near identical-looking women waiting for her. The main difference between the two is the color of their robes: a rich blue one with golden accents on the one Kara embraces with a force that should have knocked the wind out of her, who Alex guesses to be her mother Alura, and a black one with silver accents on the one standing on the side, fidgeting impatiently, who must be her aunt Astra.
That, and the matching silver accent in her hair.
Alex remains at a small when she exits the ship herself, crossing her arms and leaving a few feet between herself and where Kara detaches herself from her mother - both of them in tears - to connect her beacon to Astra’s.
Upon closer inspection Astra appears somewhat younger than Alura, though her eyes speak of the same if not more experience. Alex makes a mental note to ask about that later if she gets the chance.
Kara is beaming a tearful smile at Astra and crushes her in a similar hug, one that is graciously accepted, and she cradles her in a way that she must have done when Kara was smaller. Astra doesn’t look much better when it comes to tears, although she appears to keep them at bay.
They stand like that for as long as Kara and Alura had, which must have been a solid minute, before Astra speaks.
Kara agrees before she pulls away. Alex can see how reluctant Astra is to let her go, but she does.
Alura looks in Alex’s direction, then at the empty ship, back to Alex, and finally back to Kara. She sounds concerned.
Kara reassures.
The relief is instantaneous and palpable, but the corners of Alura’s mouth tip down ever so slightly despite it, and it’s clear the answer is a disappointing one.
Alex shifts her gaze to look at Astra, see how she’s taking the news, and is startled to find the woman is staring at her intently. Her gaze holds an intimidating fierceness that makes Alex straighten her stance, challenged rather than intimidated.
Astra asks, not removing her gaze from Alex, and Kara turns her head to look at her before remembering herself.
she tells them, before turning to Alex and switching languages effortlessly, “Alex, this is my mother Alura, and my aunt Astra.” Kara gestures to each respectively as she says this, and Alex gives them each a respectful nod.
Alura frowns.
Kara shakes her head,
Rough landing was an understatement: the military had thought the ship was a threat and hadn’t hesitated to fire a missile at it, which created a big gaping hole in their ship. Kara happened to be standing too close to it and fell out, her Kryptonian physiology the only thing that made her survive the fall.
Lara and Jor-El thought she’d died, and by the time they’d found the Kryptonian family Kara had already grown attached to the Danvers family.
Astra interrupts, her eyes still locked onto Alex.
Astra’s intense gaze softens a little at that, her lips quirking up slightly. “You’re a soldier?”
The English syllables falling from her lips take Alex by surprise, but the surprise passes quickly when she remembered it had taken Kara all of a single day to learn the basics of the language.
She wants to argue that she isn’t a soldier, despite the fact that the DEO did recruit her, despite the fact that she’s definitely been out in the field. Her mouth opens to do just that, but it snaps shut promptly when Kara interjects.
“Oh no, Alex is a scientist, she’s just very protective of me,” Kara says, grinning at Alex at the latter statement.
But Astra gives her a knowing glance, her expression turning appreciative and almost admiring. While Kara doesn’t know she’s DEO, Astra would not fall for any excuses.
Then again, Alex doesn’t think Astra would have been able to hide that from her either, had the roles been reversed.
“Brave and intelligent, then,” Astra remarks, her voice almost a purr, and Alex can feel herself flush slightly.
Before she can respond in any capacity Alex can feel herself get drawn into a hug, and it takes her a second to process that Alura is embracing her. She sounds choked up all over again when she thanks Alex for taking care of Kara, for not leaving her even now, and countless other things Alex can barely make out.
When Alura eventually releases Alex she quickly regains composure and, after reassuring Alex she is more than welcome to come with them, leads them home. Kara’s walking ahead with her to catch up on things Alex would have been interested in hearing, had Astra not been beside her to capture her attention instead.
