Something that has always, always nagged me about this show is this specific episode:
What’s with the ‘quotes’?
And this specific moment:
What a weird line, right?! ‘Taking the title’? They don’t seem to be related, and I always assumed they were ex’s (🫣🤨). So what gives?
AND THEN WE GET THE SYNOPSIS FOR THE NEXT LUPIN ZERO EPISODE

I haven't watched a single episode of Lupin Zero, but from what Labarch told me, kid Albert d'Andrésy really needs to take revenge on the Lupin crime syndicate, and kid Lupin III really needs to feed him spaghetti bolognese.

Albert is Lupin’s canon cousin.
From my understanding each Lupin III instalment is up for the viewer's interpretation of what is canon and what isn't. I found no evidence that suggests that Lupin and Albert are cousins.
The only possible connection is Albert's last name of D'Andresy which, in the Arsene Lupin books, Lupin uses as an alias.
The fact that Albert could have laid claim to the title of the third as stated in Part 5 and Lupin Zero, doesn't explicitly state that Lupin and him are related. This suggests that the title is something that is earned, rather than inherited, which is open to anyone regardless of blood. However, we can assume Lupin II and Lupin III lay claim to the title as blood. With their shared first names with Lupin I, as well as shared looks.
In the manga it is suggested/mentioned that Lupin I had a harem and reared an abundance of children, each of whom would have a claim to the title.
But again, anything in the Lupin III franchise is up to interpretation individual to the viewer. Above is simply my interpretation of the franchise and their relationship. So if you believe that Albert and Lupin III are canonically cousins, then that is what you believe. Just as I, in a tag, jokingly, can mention how I interpreted a scene.
I would like to state that this reply is in no way trying to start a fight or argue with you. I respect that you can interpret Albert and Lupin's relationship like that. But I do not, and would appreciate if you could respect that I have a different opinion. We can, after all, agree to disagree.
