Oh. My. God. That cameo!
I really didn’t think we’d get any more insight on the previous season but I love love love how they handled this.
When I first saw Noaf and Rania, I got annoyed because I thought it was gonna be more Maryam bashing/discounting the bullies, but I was pleasantly surprised when she showed up to pay her respect and wasn’t shunned out from the memorial.
This finally confirms what I always knew (but most viewers didn’t for some reason??)—that Maryam didn’t do what she did with the intention or knowledge of getting Layan killed (still a plot hole how Rania revealed the issue of the gun to Dina/Noaf but not Maryam). I’m glad the show finally cleared that up because the issue of the honour killing lies 100% on the brother, and I really didn’t like the implication that Maryam became evil at the end and that Layan didn’t deserve any consequences.
The show finally framed the conflict in a way that’s compassionate towards all the characters and acknowledges the cruelty of both the bullying and honour killing. I love that we got to see them all grieving and learning from their mistakes, especially Miss Abeer.

all the slut-shaming, and the fact that it's mostly coming from the girls themselves...
always trust this show to show the deep cutting effects of misogyny and patriarchy.
i feel so fucking awful for sarah.

Started watching the 2nd season hoping for a continuation of the previous storyline so my heart hasn't been in the current storyline.
I keep thinking of Layan, her shadow is there at the back of my mind as I watch these little girls chase after some fame. I keep seeing her in every character, in Tasneem's hautiness, in Nadeen's arrogance, in Hiba's snappy remarks.
I keep thinking about who to blame, who do I hold accountable for the loss of her life because no matter what she did, she was a child.
I look at Ms Abeer and I whisper, "you caused her death, look at you, you couldn't stop meddling" but then I see Ms Abeer care for these girls, for their future, for their character. I see a glimpse through Ms Abeer's lens and I see her trying to discipline these girls so they don't fall into chaos, so they don't make mistakes that will cost them a hefty orice. I see her concern and I see her anger and I know that she cares in her own way. How can I blame her for not knowing that her mistake would cost a life.
I turned to Maryam and I whisper, "you caused Layan's death, you wanted to destroy her," but then I look at Maryam's life and I truly look at her, a child, who was so deeply hurt by Layan. I remember the pain Maryam went through at Layan's hands, I remember the look she got from her own mother and I turn away. How can I blame Maryam for not knowing the cruel reality of this world. How can I blame her for not knowing that some people value their honour more than a human life.
I turn to Layan and I whisper, "Layan is it your fault that you died?" Then I look through her eyes at the life that she left behind. A young naive girl trapped in her life, her voice falls on deaf ears, desperate for some freedom she runs into the arms of the first man that offers her some kindness. She wasn't a perfect girl, sometimes she was a really bad girl, but she had her whole life ahead of her. Who knows what path she would have taken and now we will never know. I turn away from Layan, I cannot blame her no matter what she did, she did not deserve to loose her life.
I finally turn and I see it now, the hand that pulled the trigger infront of my eyes. You are the cause, you took Layan's life. No one else. It was not yours to take, you will pay the price. If not in this dunya then in the akhirah you will pay.

Miss Abeer was written & acted so fucking well this season like, the character development was sooooo good. Like she's still herself but she's changed, you know? And her going to Layan's memorial with the season 1 girls was such a great scene, it really resonated with me.

Not gonna lie, when I first started watching season 2 of Alrawabi I was so disappointed they just moved on to a new story. But as time went on I started liking it more. Especially the memorial of Layan with all the characters. I really need a season 3 now. When I tell you I sobbed. So. Much. Especially at the memorial scene and the end of the series.
AND THE SOUNDTRACK. BANGING AS ALWAYS.
Crossing my fingers for a 3rd season. Have my doubts though as they didn't confirm it in the credits like in season 1.

I'm watching « Al Rawabi school for girls 2 » and I'm distracted by Hiba's inexplicable 80s hair and also that Shams looks like she could be Zendaya's cousin
