T’owal T’uesday #12
A few days ago @dedalvs reblogged a very cute image that demonstrates some particles in Ancient Greek. I decided to edit a T’owal version!
All of the T’owal words in the image are actually verbs, but you can use them as prepositions or adverbs as well. In some cases the verb is “to be __” (e.g. “to be above”) but when it’s not as obvious I’ll put the verb version in parentheses. They are:
gyo above · as upon · ul up (climb, ascend) · lid down (descend) · hi in · fdeno on both sides of (surround) · gos out of (exit) · xmes into (enter) · tswos against (touch) · gus under · wan through · dne away from (come/go away from) · syen beside · xi toward (come/go to)
Since there are a few more relevant T’owal verbs, here’s an after picture:
hlon away/apart from · oft’e behind · ts’ana in front of · thyo between (or among) · agsil facing · enk’et tso stuffed with
Some other relevant vocabulary:
dyesi mouse · tsof cat · pwath cheese
The word dyesi is actually a reference to Jessie Peterson, aka @quothalinguist!
Finally, here’s how you say “I know he ate a cheese” in T’owal: Byóx sú í, mám mó pwáth.

She paused expression hardening before putting her hands on his shoulders. “You’re too busy stressing out about saving people and stuff all the time. You need to relax a little. You and me are going to celebrate Mogloween damn it. I’m sure the world isn’t going to end from you taking a single night off or anything.”
Her hold on his shoulders took him rather off guard... not that he minded the idea of taking time off, it was just... His heart was racing at how bold she was being. Whatever her motivation.
“I-I mean... I just finished single-handedly wiping the floor with an army of vampire ghouls and their whiny douchebag of a leader...”
“...I’d be happy to celebrate Mogloween with you.”

A letter arrives in a burst of flame. "Inanis; All I have to say is, I can see why you came to Greenguard. who the fuck SACRIFICES people for making innocent mistakes?? 'Harvest' my ass! I tried to help the poor people due to be sacrificed, but literally EVERYONE attacked me when I spoke out! Thankfully, some chaosweaver name Khvorost helped me through the closed entrance, but Fiamme's Flames, Inanis. I never realized just how scared you must've been there. I'll be seeing you soon, love. -Agsil"

Inanis was a bit surprised to receive a letter via burst of flames as first. She instantly had a guess as to who it was from and excitedly opened it. However after reading it’s contents her expression darkened. She couldn’t help wishing the hero didn’t have to see that.
She remembered being dragged along to The Harvest when she was young, seeing all those innocent people sacrificed for mere accidents and mistakes.. She remembered how her mother and father would threaten her that if she didn’t learn to fit the role they created for her that she would surely join them. Truthfully she’d always been terrified of this, and as much as she’d found it all abhorrent it kept her from ever dare speaking out. Instead when she decided to run away from her family, she also chose to run away from her country. She never wanted to have to return there..
At least he was ok…… She wasn’t sure what she would do if he wasn’t.

It was late... Deep in the forest, far off the beaten path, where none would expect travelers... a glowing figure stood, stark naked, hands behind his back facing a stream where he seemed to intend to take a late night swim.
Of course, with this in mind, Agsil had no qualms baring everything, not noticing the approach of an icy vixen, who could now see everything the pyromancer had beneath those fancy robes he always wore...

Sweet Misunderstanding
Agsil plodded along a dirt path contentedly... Another job well done. Those bandits stood no chance, and he’d promptly scattered the group long enough for the knights to apprehend them.
...Though a flash of pink caught his eye, prompting the pyromancer to snap towards the source of movement. If it was a straggling bandit, it chances are he could expect an ambush.
