African American Culture-Soap Making
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
* In the era of slavery in the United States, it was largely the task of slaves (mainly women) to create soap and complete the laundry processes for their assigned plantation. To initiate the soapmaking process, women usually started with making the lye substance, which we know today is a key ingredient in the process of saponification--the process of transforming an oil, fat, and/or liquid mixture into soap. In an interview shared by the Encyclopedia of Virginia, Mrs. Georgia Giwbs (a former slave) said that the process of making the lye to create the soap included slowly mixing water with oak wood ashes to create an oak ash lye to begin the task of laundry. In some other instances, women made their lye soap via animal skin as opposed to ashes.

Five reasons to switch your soap with an organic African black soap
Tumblr media
Organic African black soap is a great cleanser made from a wide range of natural ingredients that can do wonders for your skin. It is popularly known to treat various skin problems such as acne, eczema, and more in a gentle yet effective way. If you have been looking for something that will thoroughly cleanse your skin without leaving it too dry, try the organic African black soap by Mimaami Organics.
The soap includes many great ingredients for your skin, such as Turmeric, Sandalwood, Lemon peel powder, Shea Butter, Cocoa pod ash, Palm Kernel Oil, Coconut Oil, Camwood powder, and many more. African black soap is an excellent addition to any skincare routine. It is an age-old beauty secret from West Africa and is now famous worldwide. This is the best purchase for anyone with oily, combination, or acne-prone skin. The cleansing and nourishing elements in the soap make it an excellent cleanser for nearly all skin types.
Here are five reasons why you should switch to using organic African black soap:
1. It is a gentle exfoliator and cleanser
African black soap was a gentle cleanser, more than a regular soap bar. It effectively removes dirt, oil, and impurities embedded in the skin and makes it look and feel fresh. The cocoa pod ash in the soap helps naturally exfoliate the skin without drying it up too much. Clearing the clogged pores of excess oil will help you control the oil on your skin and give you cleaner skin ready to be moisturized.
2. It is anti-inflammatory
Black soap is a wellspring of anti-inflammatory properties and numerous vitamins, including E and A. The soap has shea butter which calms irritated skin, smoothens texture, and evens out skin tone. Other ingredients such as plantain peel, coconut oil, and palm tree derivatives fight inflammation-causing microbes and protect the skin from damage.
3. African black soap is ideal for all skin types
Normal, dry, oily, sensitive, or in combination, African black soap can be used by anyone with any skin type. It's an excellent choice for cleansing and exfoliating skin. It's no surprise why so many people are now leaning towards this soap. The best part about the African soap is that it does not contain any chemicals or artificial substances that can cause harmful reactions on your skin.
4. It can help reduce blemishes, spots, and other imperfections
Whether you've got wounds, acne scars, dark spots, blemishes, or any other imperfections on your skin, you can reduce their signs by using organic African black soap. It is made from various organic ingredients that repair and rejuvenate skin by boosting the production of collagen and increasing elasticity. The red palm oil present in African black soap can ward off dry skin by nourishing it with Vitamin E when you use it every day.
5. It can help with acne scars and other skin problems
African black soap contains organic grade A shea butter, loaded in vitamins A and E that naturally damage and repair your skin by eliminating all visible blemishes. By healing dry skin and increasing elasticity, the regular usage of African black soap can help your skin feel softer and younger. This also reduces the appearance of any acne or scars and speeds up healing. Being an excellent exfoliant and cleanser, black soap can eliminate dead skin cells and help regrow new ones.
Exfoliate your skin gently with the African black soap by Mimaami Organics
African black soap by Mimaami Organics can be used on the face and body. It is an excellent exfoliator that can help you rejuvenate your skin. You must foam it up and apply it to your skin, massaging it and then rinsing it off with water. Avoid applying it directly to the face to avoid scratches.
