So I had been obsessed with Greek Mythology in like forever and my brain immediately went to this ridiculous Godly!Victors AU, some of them made so much sense then I kind of got...this

For the ones who doesn't know anything about mythology in detail or at all, I tried to summarise as blunt and vibe-y oriented as I could. Enjoy my brainchild

(All the Victors mentioned in this chaos belongs to @lorata)

Callista: Fun fact, she is the reason all of this au started. At first I thought of Aphrodite because, you know, Goddess of Love and Lust and Beauty who also has quite a vindictive nature in some of the myths. But then I realised Dionysus kind of suited her more; God of Wine, Theatre and Madness. He borned twice, turned men into dolphins and also had an insane cult...and I thought, you know what, Calli would absolutely rock as him--like, she parties with you hard but then you slightly, slightly get on her nerves and she reminds you why she is the embodiment of lunacy with one sharp gaze.

Nero: Hephaestus. Had a rough childhood -got thrown out of a window (by?? Well, in some myths Hera, some myths Zeus and sometimes both, you make up your mind) from Mount Olympus-, and is a blacksmith who likes to create things with his own hands, finding it soothing. He does not socialise much, kind of like the Eeyore of the immortals which I juxtaposed with Nero.

Emory: Low aggression, cares about the people, family, is really kind and understanding. She'd be excellent as Hestia. Hestia is the Goddess of Hearth and Home, who also is regarded as one of the kindest and most compassionate amongst all gods but she is also the first child of Rhea and Kronos; the first one who got eaten by her own father because of sheer prophecy, so she is fiercely protective as well. She also is really considerate; Hestia gave her throne to Dionysus -making him the newest and 12th Olympian- in order to prevent the potential war in her siblings.

Artemisia: Another fun albeit useless fact; I misread her name as Artemis, who is Goddess of the Hunt and Virginity when I first started reading wmbk--and it still is with me to this day. Let's leave the laughs aside, i think she'd be great as either Até: Goddess of Mischief and Reckless Impulse or as Hermes: God of Thieves, Travel and also Mischief as well. They are both her vibe to be honest and I love that for her.

Brutus: Persephone. Listen. I know this is unhinged but let me explain. She likes nature (Goddess of Spring, so obviously) but also had been abducted by Hades ->re: bb Brutus, who has a loving home -kind of like Demeter's, Persephone's mother, garden where she grew up safe and sound- going to Centre -Persephone going to Underworld, Hades' domain- and even though he turned out a Victor, he still has his mother's, Heidi's love -Persephone visits Demeter for six months, and stays with Hades six months, results in creating seasons. It's the vibes honestly. And we deserve Brutus covered up in flowers and be happy so how could I resist.

Adessa: Athena. I think this is self explanatory enough -someone needs to be the representative genius-, but also consider this: apart from being the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena is also Goddess of Warfare and Heroic Endeavor. She represents the intellectual and civilised side of the war but also is highly hot tempered even though she shows it by quiet but permanent action rather than showering people with emotions. (re: Athena turning Arachne into a spider and Adessa killing Nero's cougars after over 30 years of planning)

Ronan: Being the First Career Victor Ever™, he obviously was the hot topic back in the day; so Nike, who is the Goddess of Victory would be appropriate for him. But then I switched it to Ares, who is God of War and Courage would be better because: 1. There is a high chance of bb Ronan witnessing the war between the districts and Capitol, 2. Ares' sacred animal is a dog--so yeah, figures.

Lyme: This is as unhinged as Brutus' Persephone but...perhaps it's even more so; I think she would be Aphrodite, who, as I mentioned with Callista, is the Goddess of Love, Beauty and Lust (the third one is unrelated to Lyme but well). At first I was like; yeah, she'd be a war goddess probably, not that deep, then I went --oh, Aphrodite is Goddess of War as well then it just clicked. So my theory with Aphrodite, as in the most modern retellings of myths I see, she changes her appearance to people's ideal vision of beauty--which is pretty diverse (quick headcanon: in this au the first person who saw Lyme's true appearance, which is her canon look, is Nero--he cherishes his girl and says that he thinks the most beautiful thing is one being themselves) and Love because even though she went through an abusive household to the murder academy, she still loves in her own way, like people do. (re: Mentor Lyme with Misha, Claudius and Sloane)

Odin is not here because he is the Odin in the Norse mythology which I think was intentional.

So this means Hera as Hera and Iris as Iris because why not

So these are the main ones I have clear thoughts on, though I might add even more in the future or even write a few thousand words about this whole au because it intrigues me a lot.

Justice (cause and effect, clarity, truth) - Enobaria (particularly The Devil You Know's Enobaria)

The Hanged Man (sacrifice, release, martyrdom) - Brutus

Death (end of cycle, beginnings, change, metamorphosis) - Petra

Temperance (middle path, patience, finding meaning) - Emory

The Devil (addiction, materialism, playfulness) - Artemisia

The Tower (sudden upheaval, broken pride, disaster) - Claudius

The Star (hope, faith, rejuvenation) - Creed

The Moon (unconscious, illusions, intuition) - Eibhlin

The Sun (joy, success, celebration, positivity) - Devon

Judgement (reflection, reckoning, awakening) - Rigel & Marius

I know absolutely nothing about Tarot (though I have the Chariot on deck in case a personality quiz asks me to pick one lol) but THESE ARE SO GOOD

I keep rereading and every time something new takes me out. I started listing names but I'd just go through the full list, hah.

Adessa for the teddy bear one which i cannot find,🔒,🌅,💔,⚔,🚩,💭, and 🚫 please? Apologies for those many, i just really like Adessa.

Something Adessa likes and is embarrassed to admit is writing trashy fiction. (It's not trashy, she says, it's genre-conforming.) She hides or destroys her rough drafts mainly so that Misha and Devon can't get their hands on them (and they've tried.)

Adessa sleeps right in the middle of the bed, with a different amount of blankets depending on the season. She does not snore, thank you very much. She's actually a very quiet sleeper, and very still.

Likewise, she wakes up and goes to sleep on a regimented schedule. Not entirely sure I know what it is, but she keeps to it very strictly to get the scientifically-mandated eight-hours-or-more a night while still giving her time to do things. While out in the Capitol, obviously, the sponsors' demands have to come first, so if there's a highbrow big money meeting at one A.M., she'll go, but she wouldn't normally stay up that late.

Adessa has had only one long term relationship and she intends to keep it that way. But if anyone ever tried to hit on her (Misha did canonically try), she has absolutely no problem turning them down with extreme prejudice.

Adessa isn't scared of much, but she is terrified of losing control of herself. She sees the younger, wilder victors and she cares about them, but also, some class, darling. She's also very worried about Nero, given his situation with the sex slavery, especially when he was a fresh victor.

Adessa can be cold and also snobby. She tends to look down a bit on those who aren't as educated as she is, and as her interests are very pretentious compared to most of Two, she has a bit of a superiority complex about it. She's also not great with emotional closeness, which was hard on Nero. She's not going to be anyone's therapist, basically. There are others in the Village who can fill that role, but not here.

Something embarrassing that keeps her up at night? She once lost a bet and (like Brutus) ended up having to watch Callista's cats for a weekend. Oh dear. Other than and after that, she purposefully does not put herself into situations with the potential to embarrass herself.

Something odd about Adessa is that she has dissected a human before, and if she hates someone enough (like the people who buy Nero for sex) she would absolutely do it again. She also keeps a briefcase completely full of knives that folds out with multiple layers, which, even though there are plenty of weapons in the Village, is seen as a tad overkill.

Never apologize, Adessa is amazing.

in the victor alec au selene says that the back to back wins were always a wild girl and a steady boy - so hera/odin (31/32) and callista/nero (41/42).

when i think of hera it's when she's already a few years out or more (odin showing her the bread he made, callista getting cats, canon divergence) and she seems maybe sort of misha-like? no arena guilt, no regrets?

she also won the year after there was no volunteer so - was she sensational so that the decade would be remembered with victory/glory and not fear/betrayal? (victory is victory but was she *extra* memorable?)

she's also the female victor between adessa (who dissected someone in her games) in 29 and callista (the butcher) so it was a streak of sensational girls until emory in 52?

(also i think somewhere deep deep in the wmbk tag i read that hera and odin were mentored by ronan's victors? and i think iris is not one of ronan's so that would be caius and luna?)

Mm, Hera is not wild so much as ....... (megamind voice) PRESENTATIONNNNNNN like, District 2 WILL have a victor this year and it WILL be her she WILL wipe away the stains of the past and give them the show they want and everyone WILL know the glory of District 2 and she will bring back her district's honour

it's like, inside it's grit and determination but on the outside she's not letting any of that show, she has to prove that District 2 is worthy not that she scrapped and scraped to victory from the gutter of disgrace so it's showmanship, showmanship, showmanship

(Hera's kills are what Lyme told Misha to give 4M -- absolutely sensational, but quick and relatively painless)

so yeah, no, after she wins, she does not feel guilt or regret (most of the time). she did what she needed to do for her people, and she won, she did it, she won her district's pride back, which means everything she did is worth it. and she did it with honour and integrity, and made sure that those who died had it too

Odin and Hera were indeed mentored by Caius and Luna but I can never make up my mind who took which. I tend to favour cross-gender mentoring just because in 2012 fandom so often had "male tribute = male mentor" but in this case I do think it was proooobably Caius for Odin and Luna for Hera. PROBABLY. I might change my mind later though.
