ARTIST VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD

Our island’s original lesiban dream couple, Nan & Chevre, have been in a bit of a relationship rough patch recently, so these ladies deserve some special attention right now (especially during pride month). So I put their relationship to the ultimate test, major home renovations.

I upgraded their private riverfront neighborhood by making it into a cute artists village. Both their houses received total interior & exterior makeovers. Nan got a dark, moody painting studio while Chevre has a light, bright pottery studio.

Will their new surroundings help refresh their relationship or will all this change tear them apart?

Augh picking a theme for my island is so hard!!

#acnh #i want like all the themes #i also want to try a no terraform island #i'm already time travelling this go around #i want a forest-pnw vibe #with some japanese zen feel to it #and a little bit of downtown seattle #but also like witchy-fantasy-medieval town #and i have noooooo idea what to do for a neighborhood #do i want every villager to have a yard?#do i want houses randomly in the woods with a broken yet flowing path between them?#or do i want a tight-knit japanese suburb type thing?#i could go castle town even!#augh!!

I’m resetting my acnh island soon so I can restart the game from scratch, but first I’d like to share some of my favorite places on New Haven with you all! And maybe convince you to visit in a dream ☺️ I’m saying goodbye to New Haven, but it’d make me happy to know it’s still getting visitors!

New Haven is a hometown island with all the eccentricities you’d expect of a town ruled by a friendly overlord. There’s something going on in every inch of the island, and you’ll find all sorts of people and places as you explore. I’ve spent over 1100 hours here, and I’ve put a lot of love into it ^^

Visitors should feel free to explore the main thoroughfares of the island, including an after-hours stroll through the beach market

There are three neighborhoods on the island, each with their own unique quirks. Every villager also has their own backyard that tells you more about them! Punchy for example is building his own rocket ship, and Pancetti enjoys birdwatching :D

You’ll find gnomes in charge of running most island functions, while gyroids assist their fellow island resident, Alex, in running the local rec center. The rec is a fully-equipped facility for the use of any and all island residents

For something more lively, there is of course the local carnival grounds and the concert venue nearby!

Can’t forget to mention the rose maze. Your mission, should you choose to accept it? Make it to the winners garden at the end after finding and picking each of the nine rose colors hidden within the maze!

I should also mention a few of the, ahem, other residential locations on the island. They range from an alien crash-landing site (with its accompanying conspiracy theorist camp), to a fairy forest in which you should not under any circumstances accept any strange candy found laying around, to a mermaid-pirate turf war with a gnomish encampment caught in the crossfires. New Haven is open to all sorts of folks who make their home here!

Thank you for taking this tour of New Haven with me! This island has brought me a lot of joy over the past couple years, and I think it shows. I hope you’ll consider visiting!

I’m dealing with stress about the world by going back to brainstorming the rainy small town island I’m building in ACNH.

Some features:

- lots of small ponds and creeks. A few larger water features, but the whole island looks somewhat flooded.

- lots of puddle design codes on the ground, umbrellas and rain boots outside buildings like someone put down their umbrella and took off their wet boots to come inside.

- lots of mushrooms and moss. Damp stuff.

- a large interactive school build (the kind of fake building you can walk inside,) plus a very muddy playground. Also a creek near the school with what looks like a little outdoor classroom on the bank. My elementary school had a creek nearby, and for science class we would walk over to the creek to look at frogs and crawdads and things. I want to recreate that.

- near the school is going to be a kind of education district. The museum will go over here, and a library. Maybe a couple other things like a history museum or a planetarium? Maybe a theater? Trying to include things you would want to do on a rainy day.

- on the opposite side of the island from the education district is the shopping district with Nooks and Ables, plus other shops and some restaurants. I’m definitely making a yarn/textile/knitting shop. Maybe an umbrella shop? I need a cozy little cafe because nothing says rainy day like coffee and tea. Maybe a brunch place too? Or a little diner? I think I want more shops but I’m not sure what kind.

- oh, maybe a pharmacy or small town doctors office, in case you catch a cold from getting soaked in all that rain?

- or a laundromat to wash all your wet and muddy clothes?

- maybe a video game store, but with a vintage section for old games and systems. And a convenience store. Go buy some games and snacks and then go home and get cozy indoors.

- some of the villager houses will be used for shops, but the rest will be a little neighborhood with a community garden in the center.

anyway I'm gonna manage this Stress by meticulously planning an acnh neighborhood (instead of scattering my villagers' houses willy-nilly for once) and also listening to very loud music and working on North.
