Achille Calzi - Le Fleurs du Mal (Donna con serpente), 1913

Unburdened by disguises.  Raiment of nerves and blood that I dragged along, forcing my way toward any destination.  Here, where the vault of the sky, crucible of ALL disguises, demon, god or alien, crumbles to reveal a behemoth.  In outline against those same constellations which ruled my navigations for so long.  With no more convincing needed that this world is little more than a hard shell over its titan heart.  When the stars finally blink out it will have absorbed their eternal light.  Only now, faded as the moon; blackly looming in a bursted aureole of purple effulgence.  Rent and warp the view as its presence bleeds in; permeating, suffocating, the imagination with such buoyant abstractions . . .
