Anime fandom confession: I hate when people hype up a new shounen show for being "The most epic anime of the season" and it's basically just...some blood and gore fest for the nth time. Like I love the genre, the hero's journey is a classic, and the action scenes are very well animated, but it reeks a little bit of misogyny where Shoujo and Slice of life anime is looked down upon despite having a more diverse lineup of plots whereas Shounen gets an unlimited free pass for having the same:

Tits ✅

Fight ✅

Blood Spray ✅

Sacred Item and/or Chosen Dude who is better at everything without trying ✅

checklist and throwing a guy who is either the most milquetoast copypaste shmuck or a Dick who should be in prison somewhere, with no in between.

The flavor feels different than it was, even as late, as the early 2000s. Not AT ALL shitting on animes like demon slayer, and spy x family.

Like i love Gigguk, and I love the various reaction channels that I subscribe to, but it seems like a lot of the time the action animes of the season are just those.

I feel like it sucks for the dudes watching, because it's like they're only allowed to have some form of emotion when it's a gory power fantasy and it sucks for the girls because they could be replaced with a bikini mannequin with 3 catchphrases and the plot would not change at all and it's very annoying. I won't even mention queer people, yall basically dont even exist.

Sure the genre has it's issues but once again because it's so damn difficult for shoujo and slice-of-life manga to get greenlit for an anime as of late for some reason, there are just more bangers ig idk.

I hate to make a callout post, but either @dirwenn is the single greatest and most diverse artist on the site, or they are reposting art that doesn’t belong to them. I definitely see some art I’ve seen before. But only the original artist can lodge a complaint. It’s all anime art, mostly Naruto and The Seven Deadly Sins, but lots of other fandoms too. Most of it looks to be from DeviantArt, if their tags are to be believed.

If you are a fan artist who posts Naruto, The Seven Deadly Sins, or other anime art on DeviantArt or other sites, I recommend you look through this blog to see if it’s your art being reposted without credit or permission.

If you recognize any of the above art and know the artist, please let them know!!!

I don’t know if they are doing it maliciously or they are just ignorant, but this kind of thing drives me a little nuts, and I’m not even an artist. I can’t imagine what it’s like for you guys. Sorry about my own reposting in the service of making this post.
