random thoughts about run on, episode seven
(please do note that this post contains spoilers so read at your own risk.)
one thing’s for sure in this episode: the scenery is beautiful, especially bang bae jeong’s house
talking about bang bae jeong, i’m so happy they showed more of her throughout the years. it was interesting to see how she influenced ki seon gyeom.
the greatest example is a flashback of bae jeong beating up a colleague (seon gyeom’s coach) because he kept making advances at her. she wasn’t afraid of using violence to protect herself, even if that meant no longer being a coach
like mi joo pointed out, she didn’t quit on her own accord, she was forced out (because of the incident mentioned in previous point) so maybe she’ll come back to teach the kids? i don’t know but i’m curious to see how this will evolve in the future
guys. my otp is yeong hwa x seon gyeom 💗 they’re so cute and funny together. i’m glad they’re getting scenes together
“you sweet man. now i want to take advantage of you.” yeong hwa is an idiot, but he’s my idiot
park may is also one of my favorite characters. she’s the best middleman/hypewoman (don’t ask me what i meant by that, i understand myself and that’s what matters the most lol)
i really like that we get to see a lot of seon gyeom’s family in this show because we can understand as time goes by how complicated it is to grow up in such an environment. you see ki jeong do (father) using his wife and daughter’s achievements for his own fame & reputation. but with seon gyeom, nothing... radio silence. that’s why he resents his son even more. because he can’t create the perfect father & son picture with him
going back to the beginning of the episode when mi joo called seon gyeom a baby, and talking to bang bae jeong about how naive he is. and then, mi joo compares seon gyeom to translating (which earns bonus points from me because i like a show that puts translation at its core). he is harder to understand than a 2 hour foreign movie. and that says a lot about their relationship. mi joo is trying her hardest to understand such an odd character (aka seon gyeom) but sometimes, no matter how much effort she puts in, it’s almost impossible to understand him. giving the scenarist (is that what they’re called?) lots of 💓 for that
this post is a mess i’m sorry for whoever might read this 💔
some of my favorite scenes are the ones between seon gyeom and his father. now that he (seon gyeom) has finally made the decision on his own, you can see how he has evolved because now he’s honest with his father. he tells him the truth straight to his face.
“the problem is you” (seon gyeom to his father) / “it’s my life father” / “do you think this entire family is some kind of tool you can use to your own advantage?” / “stop using me as the means to fulfill your dream” some statements that can only be the truth
seon gyeom running then adjusting his pace so he can walk in rhythm with mi joo 💖
seon gyeom coaching the kids was so cute. you can see he’s still fairly new to it and is a little bit “nervous” (i want to use another word but can’t find it) and then you see bang bae jeong coming in and saving the day :)
that shot of dan ah and yeong hwa being still while everything around them moves quickly was beautiful 💕
yook ji woo’s face when she sees her husband coming out of nowhere was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣 i feel you madam
mi joo standing up to ki jeong do and choosing to take seon gyeom with her was such a cool moment. i want more of it!

i've been following you for your destiel and misha content for my destiel/spn sideblog, and i've known about 9-1-1 vaguely for years but never thought i'd be into it. now i have you to thank for making me a 9-1-1 girlie! if it weren't for you blogging about upcoming bi!buck i wouldn't have experienced the euphoria of it happening in realtime on tumblr! i honestly didn't think it was actually going to happen, but then i saw the kiss immediately went and watched the previous eps of season 7 and the lead-up was so good and 7x04 was SO GOOD!! and i love all the characters (hen and chim specifically aside from buck and tommy but really everyone has their appeal) so i'm definitely tempted to watch the previous 6 seasons for them not just for buck's backstory or for the buddie of it all, but i don't have the bandwith right now so i'm just absorbing everything from the previous seasons through osmosis on tumblr and the fics i read. but yeah. i can't begin to thankyou, seriously, the happenstance was perfect! i haven't felt this invigorated about media since one piece aired (still hoping for queer characters there), and before that it was our flag means death. i'm so excited to see buck's journey play out bc honestly i've been feeling weighed down and low about how dean never got to come out and destiel wasn't given the respect it deserved in the end. anyway, it's just so refreshing and inspiring to see more shows embrace and celebrate queer characters, specifically older male characters just realising that part of themselves. i love 9-1-1 for giving us this rep and hope it inspires other shows to do the same, to be open to evolving queer storylines for characters who have been "straight" for previous seasons (another one that comes to mind is jackson from teen wold, but that's another post, ha).
anyway! sorry for rambling, i just wanted to say thankyou for your blogging about 9-1-1/buck bc it has literally brightened my life and introduced me to not only a great show with great characters but another great cast and a truly talented creative fandom.
i know this is like way down in the message but i wanted to get it out of the way: JACKSON FROM TEEN WOLF!!! god that was so shocking to me as a longtime fan of the show. teen wolf was one of my first hyperfixations, i still have my stilinski lacrosse hoodie in my closet!! the reveal that he was dating one of those twins?!!! (i forget which one 😆). i was so happy…
anyways back to the main point. i am so so glad you’ve followed me from destiel and misha to 911, it truly is a pipeline many of us seem to go down. i noticed you in my notes a lot especially with my bucktommy posts (which have been pretty frequent tbh, they’re addicting to talk about 😵‍💫) so i was so surprised to hear you started watching just now!
experiencing the episode and the kiss live was what i imagine 15x18 would have been like but a bit more. well. happy? to watch buck finding a little bit of happiness and euphoria in discovering something he never knew he was missing. it was like nothing i’ve ever felt, and i’ve been living off the high since it happened. it really has been monumental in getting you excited in a piece of media, especially involving a BI MAN IN HIS MID 30’s!!!! it’s a piece of history, and we’re so lucky to have all the actors and writers and the showrunner who support it? including both lou and oliver who’ve been nothing but amazing and EXCITED about the kiss and bi buck. how lucky are we??!!
and what i’m loving even more is the people (like you) who found my blog and decided to start watching or following buck’s journey and related to it or found joy in it. it means so much to me and i’m just so grateful for the constant happiness this show gives me and others. the characters are all so special to me, obviously buck in particular. but i love how it’s truly an ensemble show and there’s so much representation and love clearly throughout, literally from the start with hen and karen.
after destiel and the end of spn, 911 is a breath of fresh air for me and i’m so glad it is for you as well. i totally get feeling down about them lately, i have too. i kinda jumped headfirst into earnestly 911 blogging and i have no regrets. glad you’re here with me!!!!

You know what? At this point I have more written posts than fanarts... I mean, I could post old ones, but idk if it would make sense you know? Anyway.
You may wonder, is this gonna be another Steve Saga or something post?
Oh no, I may be hyperfixated, but I still do love other fandoms, even if they are dead.
Speaking on dead fandoms.
Hi Origins Crew fandom :}
How are y'all doing? How's the feeling of never knowing what was supposed to happen to your favorite character in OoO, SNO,SAO...? Oh and the unfinished storylines in MHO? FTO? do we wanna talk about the cliffhanger in OZ? I mean, luckily some people posted videos about how the storyline was going to go, so at least we got that.
(to clarify, I'm not mad at anyone who was part of the Origins Crew DW, I could never)
Anyway.
Some backstory on how I started watching Origins.
It was summer of 2019 I think? Pretty sure at least, I know it was before I started highschool because I sucked at English before I started watching Origins.
Anyway.
First series was OoO S1 from Brandon's POV, at least that's the first video that got recommended to me, I'm unsure what episode it was, I can't remember if it was before or after the Aphrodite's ball (we don't talk about those, you guys know why. You know.) So I'm not sure if I even watched it all, but I think at the time I did go back to watch it from the first episode.
Anyway POVS right? With OoO S1 I watched Brandon (*cough cough* Brandeen), Jakey, Brian, Colin and some of Xylo.
And can I just say... IT'S BEEN 3 SEASONS, 3 SEASONS IT TOOK TO GET RID OF A FUCKING SWORD, A SWORD, COME ON. AND WHY THE FUCK, CAN SOME PEOPLE COME BACK TO LIFE, AND OTHERS CAN'T, WHAT PLOT ARMOR IS THIS- Istg that was probably the most annoying thing of them all, nothing against the creators, again I feel like I need to clarify! But it's just my personal dumb opinion that I hope nobody takes offense to???
Anyway.
I feel like I should make a post for every Origins Series I've watched, but idk if that would make sense lol TwT
Besides my personal preferences when it came to all the series, I am very grateful to the Origins Crew, they're the reason I'm here today, the reason I know English and they were the first group that really opened my eyes when it came to the LGBTQ+ community and helped me discover myself.
I know that from an outside point of view it might seem dumb, but I do owe a lot to them, all of them, even the ones who left a year before Origins dismantled, even the ones who joined just before people went their separate ways.
Because even if people might say that the storylines were dumb or maybe cliche (which, in some cases they definitely were) in the end, I still loved every moment of it, every episode every dumb character who didn't make any sense or that was weirdly overpowered (I REALLY want to specify which ones but I don't want the whole fandom to come at me, please, any fandom but this one) but to be fair they kinda all were in some way? Or at least had the potential to in my opinion.
I'm not good at keeping a conversation stick to one topic, I tend to sideline pretty often and I apologize for that. TwT
Also idk if it's just me, but when I find a group of people there's always that one that for some unknown reason I just like more and that one who I dislike, again, for no specific reason, just the vibes???
Like for Hermitcraft and Empires it's Pearl, for Fable it's Ulysses, (I love this fish boy with all my heart if anything happens to him I will cry) for Origins it was Colin and Brandon, don't ask why, I have no idea, I just did, still do consider them my favorites.
I kept watching content from the Origins creators after everything went down. Including the drama with some of the creators I suppose... (I still don't understand most of it)
From Devi Devi Academy/anarchy to Glitch generation, to My Hero Eternity, I watched some of the Fnaf content Bryan made just for the nostalgia.
Holy fuck how I miss these fuckers.
Like it was the whole dynamic they had in the group, the mini games videos in character were so entertaining to watch! Especially the crossovers, I tend to rewatch them from time to time even tho I know basically everything by memory at this point.
Honestly they really inspired me when it came to creating my own storylines, and roleplaying, some people may call it cringe, and I get it, but I still think it's fun.
It's been a year.
Well, more technically, but I didn't have Tumblr at the time of the anniversary I suppose? Can you even call it that?
The Origins fandom never felt too big, in my life I've only talked to one other person who knew about them, and it was pretty fun, we watched the uh.. second episode of my Hero Eternity together making theories and stuff, talking about my hero Origins and wondering which characters canonically knew that you know, mr "I killed both my bio parents" was actually alive. (Which from what we know, Flex knows, and I think Colin, not sure tho, because in the 3rd episode, when they were interrogating the hero, our edgy boy mentioned how he had an old "friend" who could get information and data really easily, and now, we all know Mario definitely wouldn't do that plus, did he even interact with the L.O.V.E. as a whole? I don't think so? So the only option that makes sense to me is Colin)
Anyway I drifted away from the concept once again because once I start talking I won't ever stop.
This is a long post, as usual, cause I write a lot when it comes to things I'm passionate about.
I'm very attached to Origins, all the characters, all the storylines, all the silly little things. And I'm never going to stop missing it I suppose? Not in a "omg how dare they break the group apart blabla blabla..." No, I'm just very nostalgic when it comes to it.
I owe everything to them, part of who I am today is because of them.
PS: if anybody wants to talk about this fandom I suppose, please do, please let's start a conversation. I have so many things to say.
Like you know in SNO when people didn't know Lucas and Brandon were SIBLINGS???? and they SHIPPED THEM??? yeah, hi it's me, I'm the problem it's me, HOW THE FUCK CAN YOU JUST DROP A BOMB LIKE THAT ON THE LAST EPISODE MAN, AND HOW DID I NOT EXPECT IT????? luckily for me, mine was very much platonic shipping, so uhhh yay??? Don't come for me guys, it was years ago, please ToT Also I did kinda Ship Lucas with uhh was it also called Jakey???? I don't remember anymore my friend will probably remember this because when the series was happening I'd just go on and ramble about the fact that I didn't know who I should have shipped with the angel boy.
Man shipping anyone in any of those series was HELL, LET ME TELL YOU, HELL. ABSOLUTE HELL, HOLY FUCK THIS IS WHY I DON'T SHIP CHARACTERS AT ALL.
Ok actual PS now:
Please, let's all sit and chat in front of a glass of tumbjuice/tomb juice??? (idk how to spell that, don't come for me) and not get cursed by anything while we do so.
Let's just vibeeeeeee :D

Hello, I just read your post regarding FT (it was an amazing read, thank you) and wanted to ask you something.
Weren't the 'new generation' of kids clones? There is a Heero clone, Phobos is a clone of Trowa(?), etc etc, with Wufei being the exception. Which makes me wonder if Duo Jr is actually the son of Hilde and Duo, because if not, why does Hilde have such a hostile behavior towards Jr? Or at least towards his origins and denies him? Going as far as to claim Jr is the son of Duo with a prostitute rather than her own?
Like you, I've been trying to find things on FT, but due to limited Japanese, I've relied a lot in translators and dictionaries, and these things were in sites dedicated to Wing, but I can't be sure translations were right, so I'd like your take on it or if you have information behind it, because that Hilde part was what made me perk a brow the most.
Either way, thanks a lot for giving more exposure to FT. It's not perfect in any way, but I enjoy some of it, and your translations are giving me a new light on it.
Thank you for the ask!
Yes, Heero does have a clone. He is named Alpha and was first introduced in Episode Zero, during Relena's backstory, as the kid who looks like Heero and went to her school despite there being no records of Heero on Earth pre-AC195 (it took Sumisawa a decade to get back to him lmao). Alpha appears in the later chapters that I haven't gotten to yet, so there's not much else I can comment on him, except that he was created to be a better weapon than Heero without the flaw of kindness from being raised as a normal child for the first few years of his life.
The others aren't clones though. Phobos/No Name was found by Trowa after assassinating the fake Milliardo Peacecraft in a setup, who takes Phobos under his wing. And Katrine is another test tube sister of Quatre's. Most of the "everyone is a clone" rumors I think mostly comes from Sakura Asagi's art making a lot of character look similar (Ralph looking exactly the same a Heero in Blind Target is another example).
Duo Jr/Fenrir is Duo and Hilde's son. It seems that Hilde wanted to give him up for adoption or something but owns the place where children go to be adopted. Duo pretty much works out instantly that Fenrir is his though despite Hilde's denial and even remembers something being off about Hilde when they filed for divorce, describing typical pregnancy symptoms and a certain "glow" to her.
The hostility she feels for Fenrir (mostly her being strict to him and the other orphans), comes from her hurt towards Duo disappearing so much when they were younger, who Fenrir happens to look exactly the same, oof. She is told to have her caring moments towards Fenrir though and can be nurturing, according to Duo. Duo also seems to blame it on himself as well as the stress of trying to help the orphans during the ongoing war making more orphans.
This user: Inchoate Oeuvre — LiveJournal , (who I am forever grateful for 😭) translated everything prior to where my translations pick up. Their translations are the most accurate out there. So, if you (or anyone else!) want to read from the start, that link will take you to all the previous chapters.
The unfortunate thing with fan translations is that we can never get the 100% accuracy that the original has, or a proper translation studio can deliver so a lot of FT has to be taken with a grain of salt until we hopefully *fingers crossed* get an official translation.

I've watched a bit of the 2001 anime now and here's what I think of the characters so far:
009/Joe - Despite the inclusion of a literal infant on the team, he is baby. He is just so sweet and wants to help so badly. The way he just keeps on trying to talk down the other cyborgs. Love the boy.
001/Ivan - Super baby, super baby. All joked aside, I'm always very amused by super powered little kids who are either stronger or smarter than the much older characters around them. I also loved that it's not like 'magically he doesn't need any of th4 regular baby things', no, he's still an infant. He stills has to be carried around, fed from a bottle, sleeps a lot especially after using his power, and one change from the bit of the manga I read that I wish they hadn't changed is the point that he can only speak telepathically since he's not physically developed enough to actually speak. He may be super smart, but he's still just a baby.
002/Jet - Angry bird man time. Every time I look at the alt designs for other properties, it's the absolute downgrade of Jet's design specifically that bugs me the most, like, why can't they just embrace his gravity defying hair and ridiculously long nose? They're so iconic.
003/Francois - That bit where she explained to Joe how she was a fight happy tomboy when she was young and actively loathed feminine things but then at some point clearly became comfortable with being much more traditionally feminine cause it's what she likes and it makes her happy? Yeah, that was too relatable.
004/Albert - Then we have my favorite. Why is he my favorite? I dunno. Number one thing I'm constantly wondering is 'sir, where are your pupils?'. Like, I could understand if his eyes were made to look like that as a cyborg, especially to go along with the fact that he's the most robotic of all of them, but no, his eyes were always like that. I also like that this man does not smile, only smirks like a smug asshole, even though he very much is not. Love him.
005/G Junior - I mean, you really can't go wrong with a quiet, gentle giant character. I really can't find too much to say about him, cause the an8me, where I'm at, hasn't given him too much focus, but he seems good.
006/Chang - He is just so good and caring. I absolutely adore that episode where, even though some of them aren't with the others, they all feel that connection due to cooking and food, all thanks to Chang. It's good stuff.
007/Great - He's okay. I like his design, and he's mostly good, but some of the earlier episodes he can grate slightly, but he definitely grows on you. That one episode when they went to London actually pleasantly surprised me. Other series would have him cause his own problems by glory seeking, but it's clear he already learned that lesson and he's much more genuine. It's a nice change from what I'd usually expect.
008/Pyunma - I mentioned reading a bit of the manga and, yeah, uh, the changes they made for him were really good and really necessary. Like, not just changing his design but his backstory as well. But I like him.
Dr. Gilmore - Good scientist dad. Love that he got involved in sketchy things and even though he will fully admit that got manipulated and tricked, still holds guilt cause he knows he's still the one to do it. He's still the one who changed so many of his now beloved friends into living weapons. But he tries to help them however he can to make amends. Also him and the other old scientist have really fruity vibes, and I love that for them.

The Devil Judge: Episode 8
I just finished The Devil Judge and something about this show compelled me to take copious notes - it had emotional intensity and layers of mystery. These are long and rambling, so they're likely not of interest to anyone else, but since I spent all that time writing it I decided, why not post it. Perhaps someone will find it interesting.
Below are my moment-to-moment reactions, predictions and analysis as I watched episode 8.
eps 1&2  ep3  ep4  ep5  ep6  ep7  ep8  ep9 ep10  ep11  ep12  ep13  ep14  ep15  ep16
I wrote about my initial impressions, up to episode 5, here and here.
This is cleaned up only slightly. I followed the spelling given in the Viki subtitles. I mostly don't explain what I'm reacting to, so this will probably only make sense if you've seen the episode recently. Occasionally I give timestamps.
I was confused by the prisoner switch because I thought the point was supposed to just be that he aged. But i guess it really was a switch
i love how they showed this same prison yard breakdown scene from different angles and shots in the next episode recap
i'm confused about a lot of things surrounding this switch including:
What did Yo-Han want Ga-On to believe? that someone somewhere is doing something shady?
Does Ga-On suspect Yo-Han of doing the switch?  In the alternate angles of that scene we the audience see Yo-Han's conspiring behavior.  Are those shots implying that Ga-On sees it too?  In general I can't figure out how naive vs. observant he's supposed to be
and then of course the question of what is actually happening. I think it's that Yo-Han got Mysterious Assistant to organize the switch for the specific purpose of winning Ga-On to his side.  and nothing happened to the scammer, he's still wherever he's supposed to be, no one else in the story cares about him besides Ga-On.  But this show, as is often the case for political intrigue shows, keeps tying the threads of characters' pasts together, so the scammer himself could end up being a major or minor plot point.
Yo-Han vs. Seon-Ah confrontation, wow! did they both come out as bisexual to each other?  is that one of the implications the show wants the audience to take from that? this whole bit with the pin is excellent.  and the way they tie it back with the "do you like me" So far i'm pleasantly surprised with the backstory they're giving Seon-Ah and how they're revealing it, but not too much and using it.  it doesn't feel flat
This show is starting to say interesting things about gender and about sexual violence.  I'm not sure what yet, and i think what the show is saying probably connects closely to its korean context so it's not necessarily what i'm interpreting from it.
this whole scene with Ga-On at home.  and calling up Su-Hyeon  and everything in the restaurant.  I'm starting to get more interested in her as a character in her own right (and I think the show is getting more interested also). so beautifully done, and - not understated exactly, but just the right amount of 'stated, not overdone
I think Ga-On's actor is excellent in this.  It's not a virtuosic part like Yo-Han, and I suspect the actor is not as skilled as Ji Sung, but he conveys Ga-On perfectly.  I know he's a very famous K-Pop star, but I haven't seen him in any other context, which I'm grateful for so I don't have anything else overlaying the character.
I do see the dancer in him - I feel like his physicality is very dancer-like.  not so much that he's graceful, although he is, just that he looks totally at home in his body in a way that feels specific to dancers.  He's not carrying extra tension, but also not floppy.  Able to move in any way at a moment, but not telegraphing his readiness.  It ends up working very well for the character I think.  It adds some layers, because it's not what you'd expect from a lawyer/judge.  And it gives the character I quiet confidence that gives his opposition to Yo-Han more heft.  I think because the script itself mostly puts the balance of power in Yo-Han's favor, if the actor was more timid in his physicality the push and pull between them wouldn't be as interesting.
Yo-Han on the other hand I feel like is holding himself very tightly in order to appear very relaxed and confident.  And I believe that's a deliberate acting choice by Ji Sung - look at the difference when he's playing around with Elijah.  or even that bit where he trips over the wheelchair.
That was such a small moment, but it felt so revealing to me! the way he trips and the way he reacts somehow felt the most human we'd ever seen of him. so much so that i first wondered if it was an accident during filming that they kept in, but they shot it from multiple angles/takes, so i think it was scripted.
back at the house but the kitchen in these shots is looking very shiny like the political outside world.  they're in their suits with their public facing hairstyles
we're explicitly being told that Yo-Han is manipulating Ga-On.  I mean, we knew it, but it's interesting that the show is telling us
I have thoughts on the shifts in Y and G's relationship, but they're not quite coherent yet.  the rhythms of getting closer, pulling apart.  how that is shown in the way things are framed as romance vs. corruption. and i think maybe it's Yo-Han who is the most variable. He started letting down his mask, felt betrayed by Ga-On taking his sister to meet the cop, and slammed it back up again.  So that's the romance plotline, but the political intrigue plot conveniently also requires him to switch to corrupting?  Or was he the one who instigated this huge change in the political game?  Hmm. He threw down the gauntlet of naming the big 5.  that was in response to Cha's attack on him. Not sure if he had another option at that point, so i tend to think it's more the convenience of the plot lining up with their romance plot than him doing politics stuff in reaction to his romance feelings.
I wonder if we'll ever learn more about Mysterious Assistant?  I feel like it could go either way - this show likes connections, but it's also pretty conservationist in its use of characters - e.g. Our Two Representative Businessmen,  and willing to let secondary characters be flat.  we are getting more and more from Seon-Ah's assistant, so there is some hope.
Su Hyeon and Elijah together again! I'm excited to see what this relationship is going to be.  and that we now see Elijah as part of the game.  she has been, mostly behind the scenes, but now i think we're going to see it.  The actor is only 16! She's so good.
unformed thoughts about the parallels and differences between Su-Hyeon and Ga-On's relationship and Elijah and Yo-Han's relationship. and the lines and connections among all four of them.  we've seen all combinations so far besides Yo-Han with Su-Hyeon.  So far I can't picture them as anything except antagonists over Ga-On's love/his soul, but I can also see this show bringing in something more interesting.  Does she also get won over to his cause?
I feel like we're seeing a Hunger Games' style love triangle, where in choosing between his two love interests Ga-On is also choosing what kind of person he wants to be/what life he wants to live.
I'm confused again about Yo-Han.  if the revenge is just about the church fire, it seems not bad enough to fuel all this work?  even the hypocrisy of asking for the money. Do the series-makers want us to see Yo-Han as sufficiently justified? or are we supposed to see him as overreacting because he is in fact a bit of a sociopath?  or did his anger about those specific personal harms lead him to a more general moral quest to bring them down because they are the most harmful people to S. Korean society? I can't tell if the show wants us to believe one of those, or if it wants it to still be a mystery.  probably the mystery.  part of the problem is that it flattens some things into caricatures (like the businessmen) and keeps others richly complicated (which is understandable, there are a lot of moving parts in this show and not all of them can be realisitic and human) but that sometimes means i can't tell what is flat and what is intentionally mysterious or ambiguous.
(44:00) cute rooftop scene (thoughts on meaning of this rooftop -safe space? feeling space?) but also useful for info on Su-Hyeon's feelings on Ga-On
Is Ga-On gay? That's not the only potential reason he's not dating Su-Hyeon, but it would fit.  (He loves her and relies on her and sees her as family.  part of him wants to be in love with her but he can't be) because there are times where he almost acts like he's in love with her too but afraid for some reason to take that step.  but perhaps it's that he's afraid because he's not in love with her. [this would mean that the show is acknowledging both queerness and homophobia, which i get the sense korean shows tend not to do]
(the symbolism of that knife! she will literally cut herself to prevent him from turning evil [doing something immoral] )
(47:48) Revealing conversations on the rooftop yet again.  Su-Hyeon and Ga-On:  "Have you come back for good now?"  "Actually no, but I need to take care of these. [plants]"  "You shouldn't visit, you should return completely.  This is your home."  "But there are people I need to take care of over there, too."  "How about taking care of yourself? Please."  "Me? What about? Why do I need any care? I'm living an exceedingly comfortable life as it is."
i feel like this convo between Prof. Min and Su-Hyeon is one of the few glimpses we're getting (outside of the generic faceless masses or our power hungry main players) of how people see and think about politics in this society
I don't have the cultural context to interpret this line, but it stands out: "I didn't become a police officer to point a gun at our citizens' chests."
the battle over Ga-On's soul.  Prof. Min and YSH vs. Judge Kang
I still can't tell how seriously this show is taking its statements on politics.  I assume we're supposed to see YSH and prof Min as the voices for morality here.  they let our hero say something that is (to me) such an immoral statement.  obviously they are showing his internal conflict, but i don't know how extreme this would sound to mainstream Korean audiences, or at least how extreme the show creators meant it to sound
once again Ga-On is being asked to choose sides
Prof. Min is the only person shown entering the battle who's outside the power structure.  Well, technically he's inside since he's on the supreme court, but in the framework of the show he's an outsider who wants to bring the whole system (I'm a little vague on what that is - is he just blaming the televised trials?) down.  and he's saying he's going to be using public opinion and the media to do it, the very thing that he's saying is causing the problem in the first place.  Is he supposed to come across as naïve?
I guess it's confusing because he seems to be trusting the public here to make changes, but the only reason that the public trials are a problem is because the public is blindly swayed by them to violence.
I guess the weirdest part for me is that the televised trials seem to be presented as such a powerful force in this society whether they're seen as good or dangerous.  but it's hard for me to see them that way.  like i wouldn't go from 'police brutality is a problem' to 'it will get significantly better if we get rid of he public court'
and it's probably a shorthand, or a show writing convenience to make Yo-Han a powerful figure: whatever he's in charge of has to be a powerful force in society because in order for the show to work he has to be powerful.  but it just makes the politics of the show feel odd.
(I think that's why I struggle with political shows in general.  their depreciation of the causes and solutions of political problems usually strikes me as either offensive, ridiculously oversimplified, or both.)
like, i guess there are no figures here advocating for actual structural change, or even pointing out what the problems are.  The show itself sort of points out problems with wealth and corruption and powerful people not having any accountability.  And interestingly, saying that implies, what we need is accountability and transparency - which is what Judge Kang was saying he was going to be doing with the court.  but then his courts were portrayed as, not bad, but nonsensical and arbitrary, not transparent at all.  but he and prof. Min have been the only people to even mention transparency.  interesting.
Is this show going to have a nihilistic view of political change and power?  seems likely at this point. By portraying the general public as a monolith of easily manipulated sheep, only those in power have any agency or chance of affecting the world.  That's convenient for making a show - it greatly reduces the number of characters that can affect the plot and keeps it to issues and themes that can be controlled.  but it's also an inherently anti-democratic world view.
here it seems like they might be saying that the media and public opinion are so powerful, you can't escape using them if you want to have any impact on society (whether for personal gain or for public good) but I can't tell if that's a statement that the series-makers are making about S. Korean society/society at large, or just a way they're fitting Prof. Min's beliefs and actions into the simplified world of the show.
unformed thoughts on public vs. private.  Media/public opinion etc is portrayed as all powerful, and the big decisions are all made behind closed doors. This is both a point of the show, but also doesn't always work.
I think maybe I'm not quite feeling the weight of Kim Ga-On's moral struggle because the moral and political logic of the world around his ethical quandary feels so flimsy.  like, the choice doesn't feel as meaningful to me as it should or as the drama wants it to.
i think prof. Min is supposed to be the moral center of this world.  The other option is that he'll turn out to also be corrupt, but I don't think that's the direction the show is going in.
rewatching, his plan does make a little more sense and is less let the mob fix it.
(50:40) Ga-On wears a sweater at work! Is there significance to Ga-On's two hairstyles?  I haven't seen a pattern yet.  but Yo-Han's two styles are very meaningful so I'm inclined to look for meaning
We get to meet Mysterious Assistant!!! And so does Ga-On.  I did not predict this.
Also, the first time I saw Mysterious assistant I thought he was Isaac.  He looks a little like Ga-On, and they gave him the same hairstyle
This feels like jealousy? like i know Ga-On has reasons to be mad at M.A. but if you ignore the words it feels like they're each staking a claim to Yo-Han.  and he's smirking in the background.  I guess I don't understand why M.A. would be pissy unless he's also feeling possessive of Yo-Han
The best version of Kang Yo-Han has the same goal as Prof. Min.  If that is the true version of him (which I think it will turn out to be) then the moral quandary Ga-On is facing becomes one of methods and 'does the end justify the means?'
I guess this would need to be a dystopia in that case, if Yo-Han's way was the best way.
Oh! The defense attorney is working for Judge Kang. Lawyer Go was Ju Il-Do's lawyer
i'm confused about what this actress did during Cha's son's trial..., oh she was the first caller.  i just needed to wait two seconds lol
(55:00) I'm getting heist movie vibes.  The gang's all here, gathered for the first time, meeting in a picturesque abandoned warehouse.  I'm sure there's some symbolism or something evoked by the fish and aquarium tank...
the first time the politics feel real
still the question of trusting Yo-Han is there, but that look at the end.  Ji Sung's expressions! although the musical cues help too
(58:20)  And immediately following is the other seduction/corruption campaign - Seon-Ah's of Judge Oh
I feel like this scene support my theory that Judge Oh is an avatar/stand in/representative for the manipulatable faceless public
(1:00:05) more mirrors in scenes where people have on or are putting on a mask
that is a sexual seduction
Is this evidence planted by Yo-Han? or is it real?
(1:02:35)  Ga-On in his seat!
Here is an explanation of the scammer guy stuff.  I think we're supposed to take it as the true one.
honesty from Yo-Han about his willingness to manipulate.  so he's saying he didn't switch, but would have.  But what was up with his conspiratorial looks with the prison guard?
"this is me. take me as i am"
1:04:10 /dinner with Prof Min.  "what have you decided"
prez buffoon - emblematic of and chosen by mob mentality.  xenophobia.  mob violence.  this youtuber guy - another form of taking justice into his own hands - is that an intentional parallel?
(1:06:10) who created the rage in the first place
(1:07:21) "Were people so stupid that they become enraged just because they were stirred up? It started from something else, didn't it." He's finally asking my question.  Don't know if we have quite the same answer though. or at least Ga-On's is in a more limited sphere. "It was the bad guys. Those guys who deserve death for making innocent people shed tears of blood. Was asking to properly punish them such an impossible request?"  "Ga-On"  "You should have done better. If people like you had done better, if people like you who even joined the Supreme Court had done your job properly, then none of the would've needed to happen. If the people who took these positions had done their jobs properly." "So in the end... you have made your decision?"  "You were the one who forced me to make a decision, Professor. If there is no justice in reality, but only a game, then I also want to be among the winners."  Ga-On gets up and walks away to the opening credit music. with a slight smile on his face - is that an intentional acting choice?
I have to remember that mild mannered Ga-On is filled with rage and resentment.  I don't know why I keep forgetting this.
ok, wow, he's pissed at prof. min.  I assume, I can't think why else he would be so in his face about choosing Yo-Han ('s path) over him.  That is some dramatic staging.
(1:10ish) "Do you regret it?  I will promise you..."  "It's not just for revenge.  I want to fight the world that's gone wrong."
their faces here! the way they look at each other (or don't)!
ok, copaganda.   :-/

A Milestone
I kinda forgot Tumblr existed for a few weeks, so I forgot to post here to celebrate, but on January 16th, I hit a milestone. Two years of writing.
In that two years, I wrote over half a million words. In 73 chapters across three series. It's been a wild ride. My first story is still going, I haven't finished "Princess Tells Her Story" yet. (I probably will with Book 3, I can't think of anything I can really throw at the duo to challenge them after they've defeated a broken, insane god.)
I've had a pretty small following, but a loyal and supportive one, and I am eternally grateful for that. I can't wait to see where I'll be next year, or the year after that, or the year after that, and so on. ^_^
After Princess Book 3 is done, my next project is probably going to be rewriting Princess Book 1 to be better. It's a little bit of a mess, since each chapter, I didn't know if it would be the last thing I ever posted. So I tried to end it in a way that didn't leave active hanging threads, sort of a "We'll be okay" vibe, in case I couldn't continue. That made it very episodic in nature, since I didn't want to end on a cliffhanger, just in case. I also started a lot of threads that I never properly followed up on (looking at you, Brotherhood of Shadows) because I got distracted. I was very much winging it without any plan. Well, a little bit of a plan, there was quite a bit of "laying groundwork for things planned in Book 2" going on... ^_~ But still, I want to do it better, make it more cohesive, strip the "recap" bits, etc. Handle Princess's backstory better, too. Without properly planning it, it just sorta feels rough around the edges. But it'll be a while yet, I'm barely a third of the way through Book 3.
One of those readers sent me a gift for my anniversary. A box of oranges, from an orchard in Florida. They are absolutely delicious and wonderful and I love them. That reader is none other than my own mother, so of course she knows I love oranges. (You just can't get oranges that good elsewhere.) I just wanted to gush because I'm still giddy about it.
I do still kind of want to publish my work some day. It'd be nice to be able to bring in some extra income, but it'd also just be amazing to see my books on store shelves. To know someone is gonna wander those aisles like I did, look through all the covers, and a stack of paper printed with words is gonna be one filled with words I put together. Of course, anyone who picks up my stuff is probably gonna be doing the same thing I did: grabbing anything with a non-human protagonist on the cover, hoping desperately someone can put words to the feeling of "This human body is Not Me" so they feel less like they're going insane. Even if they aren't conscious of it, like I wasn't. While internet publishing like an e-book via Amazon lacks that feeling of awe, I might still do it anyway. (Would have to get together money to commission cover art, though. I'd love to get "Cover Art" stuff for each book anyway, even if I don't publish, because it'd be cool. ^_^ )
Really, I'm happy with anyone who enjoys my stuff, regardless of their reason. It's just the scenario I come up with in my head, Kid Me surrounded by endless books and trying to find one that lets me see someone else Being Different, and lets me feel it. ^_^;;
I should probably try to post on sites other than FurAffinity. I started to post to Royal Road, but I dunno, something about it just kinda grates on me, I guess. Don't know what. If people have suggestions for sites I should post to, I'd love to hear it. It's been a while since I posted a link to my stuff, so in case anyone reading this hasn't taken a look, here you go.
It's always interesting to see how some people will only follow one story, and some people will follow all three. Vayryn gets the most attention, people love yinglets. Princess gets almost as much as Vayryn, people love dragons but there's so many dragons that it's easy to get lost in the flood. Flopsy doesn't get much attention, she doesn't have people that go looking specifically for hoofbuns. I love writing all three, though. (In the latest Vayryn chapter, she attends a convention and runs into Valsalia himself. The real-life Valsalia said I did "a pretty spot-on impression", which I think is awesome. I tried to capture his friendly, approachable vibe, and I'm glad it came across. ^_^ )
Anyway, I'm going to end this here, because it's already insanely long. Love you all, I'm going to bed! (It's 5:19 AM now...)

hiya moo! your ass is phat & I hope you’re doing okay <3
I was just wondering if you have a show/movie/book that makes you ABSOLUTELY SOB? cause I’m currently going through it and would like to not feel alone 🥲
Bby you know I'm SENSITIVE
I'm really empathetic so as long as emotions are portrayed well, I'm sobbing immediately. Its a curse
Recently I've been rewatching 'Lost'. The last time I watched it was literally when it was airing on TV back when I was 10 (and 16 by the time it ended). And in this rewatch, I'm realizing that this show really influenced how I tell stories today. I was watching it at a crucial time in my life when I was first starting to actually write my own stories down rather than just daydream about them and I can see how this show has affected my writing style.
The cast is huge, and mysteries just pile on top of each other as the show goes on. Most of the characters get INCREDIBLE development and each of them have their own intricate backstories and personalities. I've just finished the first season and I've already cried multiple times. (Locke's first backstory episode literally destroyed me like "dont tell me what I can't do" uhhhhhhhgggggggggghgghggg my heart hurts just thinking about it)(actually, his second backstory episode hurt too yikes why does this show want to hurt me??)
The acting is PHENOMENAL too btw. Every time Jack and his big puppy dog eyes show even the faintest bit of emotion, the tears start a flowin'. (Lookin at you, conversation with Sawyer near the end of the first season... I'm lookin at you...) And since I have seen it all before (albeit a long time ago) my knowledge of future events only makes it A MILLION TIMES MORE EMOTIONAL GAH
Whether you've seen Lost before or its your first viewing, its just so so so good and emotional. Despite it being about these crazy and life threatening events, the show still finds time to give the characters these sweet and soft moments of genuine joy and connection. Yeah they're in danger, stranded on an island with a weird monster and other stuff, but they laugh and joke around and play games and fall in love and GAH I can see my own storytelling methods mirrored in this show and it makes me feel so emotional and grateful that I was able to watch something like this when I was young! Its seriously a show that was far ahead of its time and I'm really enjoying watching it again 🖤
Honestly my biggest complaint about Lost is Kate. Like... what does she DO other than create a love triangle? I mean, maybe her character gets better in the coming seasons but I sincerely can't remember a time when I thought "Kate is a good and not at all useless character" when watching it the first time afsgdhd. Literally Jack and Sawyer have more chemistry together than Kate has with either of them.
Shes hot though so I let it slide
AND AND AND THE MUSIC?????? BROOOO THE MUSIC IS SO GOOD. The composer, Michael Giacchino, is one of the best show/movie composers ever and he really popped off for this one. The characters all have themes and they even used parts from the plane wreckage to create sounds for the orchestral bits like WOW so much dedication and passion went into the creation of this show and I friggin love it 👏👏👏
Uhhhh anyway, thats my spiel about how everyone should watch Lost on Hulu because its so good and if it were released today, it would be on the same level as Stranger Things and Squid Game
Wait what was the question again?
Lmao in case you don't want to watch a long ass show like that though... here's some other things that make me emotional 🥲
Kimi no na wa (your name)(absolutely stunning visually and musically)
Swiss Army Man (my fave movie of all time)
Moulin Rouge (former fave)
The Good Place (namely the last season, I cried a whole lot in the final episodes)
The Haunting of Hill House (Luke's episode really got me, man)
Brave (i don't care what anybody says, this is one of my fave Disney princess movies and I cry EVERY TIME)
Big Fish (whimsical and adventurous with a bittersweet emotional ending 🥺)
50/50 (Seth Rogan's character is such a good friend it makes me emotional)
Secondhand Lions (grizzled men take care of small child yes please)
Hunt for the Wilderpeople (grizzled man takes care of young child yes please)
So yeah, there ya go
This turned into a "why everyone should watch 'Lost'" post but uhhhhhhh everyone should watch 'Lost'
So sorry you've been goin through it! I hope you start to feel better soon 🖤 make sure you're taking care of yourself and eating well and drinking lots of water 🥰 love you

I just wanna say that I'm so glad I found your Tumblr because I took a DEEP dive into Taishirou these past couple days, and it's so great that there are still people like you posting and creating content about my two favorite Chosen boys. <3 And no offense to any other active Taishiro(u) content creators; I love everyone and it makes me so happy to see a community. I'm just sending you a message since your posts and musings popped out first to me! Can't wait to catch today's episode!
Hey, even if we've already met in discord, I still wanted to formerly reply here, because your message made me just tremendously happy! I'm so glad that there are people out there who enjoy my content and that there are still so many out there appreciating these two wonderful characters and their relationship in the same or similar way I do. I hope you're having a lot of fun on my blog, here on tumblr - and on discord too, as I said, don't ever get intimidated, it's all just a looooot of fun. :')
The episode could have offered more (especially in terms of backstory and... Two dorks bonding with each other), but I'm still grateful we got it!
