It was so cool to get to put the Anakin costume back on again. That was actually my very first day on set, that scene we did and it was just a special sort of way to come back to Star Wars, looking like Anakin. Ewan was there, but he was actually wrapped for the day, they had finished his coverage and it was just so sweet what he did. He insisted on staying to be a part of my first shot back and yeah it was just a very special day.

And I was so excited, I looked up at it, and then I went, "George, will we go underwater in it?" And he just looked at me and he went, "What?" And I said, "Will we submerge in it?" When we meet him in the series, he’s struggling with his past in a way that he needs to reconcile. He needs to kill Obi-Wan to kill that part of himself and become the Sith that he knows he needs to be.”

Welp. I’m a mess 😫

At first I thought “what’s he talking about - Anakin isn’t struggling to reconcile his past, he’s a shell of a man with no capacity to connect with his past life or Obi-Wan. But then I realised what Hayden was saying.

That Vader, needing to completely destroy the tender, heroic Anakin in order to become this entirely monstrous creature, has to eliminate the one remaining link with his past, a link that he knows could have the power to revive Anakin; his Master, friend, and father figure Obi-Wan.

Vader must kill Obi-Wan because Obi-Wan being alive means that Anakin could be saved 😔💔

#I love Hayden's insights into Anakin/Vader #the calmness and simplicity with which he describes it makes me super emosh for some reason #it's like he pops up every now & again and gives these insights #and I lose it every time #every time they showed a Hayden/Anakin bit I cried a lil #especially Vader in the bacta tank #I could only think of poor Anakin & how he would rather have been dead #and then when they showed Luke putting his hand on Vader/Anakin's shoulder as he died #I did crying again 🙃#why does emotional sw stuff always come out when I'm PMSing #😭😭😭😭😭😭#star wars #anakin skywalker #obi-wan kenobi #obi-wan kenobi series #hayden christensen #ewan mcgregor #a jedi's return #disney plus
