Lanfear got six blissful months of not having to deal with her coworkers, which was EXACTLY enough time for her to reach peak hubris.
She watched-slash-arranged-for Ishamael's death and was ready to swagger around as the only general of the Dark One until it was time to Starscream him too, only to sashay head first into Moghedien's trap and get INSTANTLY knocked down about forty pegs. By Moghedien.
10/10 on Forsaken antics, no notes.

I’ve seen a couple people questioning how Egwene was able to put the collar on Renna with damane not being able to pick up anything they think of as a weapon.
But like . . . that’s why it’s so great that she could! Not only is she overcoming physical pain, she is doing mental cartwheels to be able to pick up the a’dam! Or maybe she’s using sul’dam logic that an a’dam is what’s best for a damane, and therefore it isn’t a weapon. Either way, I see no plot holes here, just Egwene using not just her strength in the power but also her intelligence (arguably one of the most important parts of her character) to trap Renna and get her revenge.

I've been thinking a little about Mat's journey during Season Two and why I empathised so much with him, and I think it's partly because Mat in Season Two is such a great allegory for depression.
Tumblr media
When we meet him first, he has cut himself off from all his friends. He believes that he is worthless, that he is not worthy of their company. That he is not good enough for the task before them.
When he finally gains his freedom from Liandrin, he stands not twenty feet away from Egwene and chooses not to go to her, because he believes that she is better off without him. His self-loathing is so enormous that he thinks his friends are better off without him in their lives.
And it reminded me of every time I've come through a bad depressive episode where I've had suicidal ideation, where I've cut myself off from my friends because I think they don't want to know me (they do), that their lives would be better without me (they aren't), that I don't have value or anything to offer (I do). That moment where the clouds clear and I say to myself, "I'm still fucking here. I did it, I'm still here, and I matter."
Later on, when he is reunited with Rand, we can see how much it means to him to have a real friend back in his life. But when Min tells him her vision, he finds it so easy to believe the worst version of it. Of course he's going to kill his friend. He's Mat. He fucks everything up, doesn't he? Min just confirmed what he knew all along - his friends are better off without him. So rather than telling Rand about the vision, Mat just ghosts him and lets Rand believe that Mat is a flake who can't be relied on.
In the final episode of the season, we see Mat outsmart Padan Fain, get welcomed back with open arms and cheered on by Perrin, and finally blow the Horn of Valere. He remembers that he is a Hero of the Horn. That he has worth. That he has always had worth. That his friends have loved him all this time, hero or not. That he has his part to play. That he isn't useless.

I've just seen the episode.
The emotions that I've felt, the tears that I've shed, the squeals I squealed. Breathtaking. Brilliant. Bloody. I need the third season and I need it yesterday.
However, there are only two comments I can make that sufficiently encompass how I truly feel about the episode.
Wow
And
Mommy.
That is all.

I can’t decide if it’s funnier if ishy knew mat was a hero of the horn and was just lying or if he was like “this man is having such a bad time, surely all his past lives were also terrible”

So plotwise, Nynaeve couldn’t channel in the finale bc if she did she would outshine Rand right? Like she would have just yeeted Ishmael right over the side of that tower.
Also we were clearly being set up for that Elayne Jesus shot and her healing Rand makes sense for that (no I haven’t read the books yet but I’ve heard things)
Anyway I know ppl are upset about Nyn not channeling and I admit it felt a little weird but I’m 100% sure it’s leading up to an even more epic moment when she does

not the strongest episode of the season by far BUT that last scene was everything
the forsaken have been translating to screen SO well i am just going to sit here consumed with anticipation until we get an asmodean casting
i tell you now, if i get even a tease of implied rand/asmodean enemies to lovers sexual tension on screen in my lifetime i am going to become so insufferable the US government will have to dispatch a black ops team to take me out
bring on this handsome freak sensually playing a harp in the back of every scene just for the vibes

I need to go to bed and be up again in 5 hours but all I can think about is Mat. We finally have my boy, he may not be in his final form yet but this episode finally gave me enough that I knew the character he’ll be was in there. God I need to read the books again just for him. Best character and it was so cathartic to him be a trickster and a (if usually begrudging) hero once more. I love one (1) boy.

Of the hot, hot mess that was wot on prime s2 e8, Nynaeve's storyline was the most infuriating.
First, she has MAJOR ISSUES with using the a'dam. She did NOT torture Seta in the books. She bullies her into compliance using her regular Nynaeve charm.
She knows that to channel she must be angry, so if she is struggling to channel, she doesn't sit there like an idiot feeling sorry for herself. She MAKES HERSELF ANGRY. She should have been muttering about how vile the a'dam is and how she hates the people who created it and tugging on her braid while blackthorn bush grows around her and blossoms and she heals Elayne's leg like new. And THEN she doesn't let go because she doesn't know if she'll get it back.
Also, while she's trying to channel, she's sorting through her herbs and removing the arrow. She would DEFINITELY remove the fletched end before pulling the arrow through. The absolute incompetence displayed by show!Nynaeve was unacceptable.
(Should I mention that having Elayne heal Rand was another racism against Nynaeve? Probably best to keep that one to myself.)
