Unlocking the Power of Vedic Maths: Mastering Mental Calculation with Ancient Tricks
Vedic Mathematics is a system of mathematical techniques that originated in ancient India and is derived from the Vedas, the ancient sacred texts of Hinduism. These techniques were rediscovered in the early 20th century by Sri Bharati Krishna Tirthaji Maharaja, who compiled them into a set of 16 sutras (aphorisms) and 13 sub-sutras (corollaries).
Tumblr media
Vedic Maths provides a unique and efficient approach to solving mathematical problems by simplifying complex calculations and making them easier to understand. It emphasizes mental calculation techniques, which allow for faster computation and increased accuracy. Here are a few key tricks used in Vedic Mathematics:
Ekadhikena Purvena: This sutra states that "By one more than the previous one." It is useful for squaring numbers that end in 5. For example, to square 35, we add 1 to the first digit (3) and multiply it with the next consecutive number (4). The result is 1225.
Nikhilam Navatashcaramam Dashatah: This sutra means "All from 9 and the last from 10." It is used for subtraction of numbers that are close to multiples of 10. For example, to subtract 97 from 100, we take the complement of the number 97 from 100, which is 3.
Anurupyena: This sutra states "Proportionately." It is used for multiplication of numbers with base 10 and its powers. For example, to multiply 32 by 100, we move the decimal point two places to the right, giving us 3200.
Shunyam Samya Samuccaye: This sutra means "When the sum is the same, that sum is zero." It is used for simplifying addition and subtraction problems. For example, to add 43 + 27, we split the numbers into compatible pairs (40+30) and (3+7), which gives us 70.
These are just a few examples of the Vedic Maths tricks that can be applied to various mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The system aims to enhance mathematical abilities by promoting mental agility, speed, and accuracy. With regular practice, Vedic Mathematics can help individuals develop a deeper understanding of numbers and solve mathematical problems swiftly and efficiently.

What is the difference between Vedic Maths and Abacus?
Parents, educationists , academicians always want students to be masters in calculi and are always probing on this. Consequently to their findings they take their opinions. So, here we are to help you know about the two programs in a detailed way so that you're suitable to make better decisions for your child.
It's one of the most important decisions to take in Maths Learning on- “ Vedic Maths or Abacus ” and which one is better.
 What's Abacus?
Abacus is a rectangular tool with beads in it used for the purpose of counting and computations. The tool has been used for a long time to help children understand calculi . It has been used at abacus centers, in seminaries especially at early periods of childhood in KG, Grade 1 and Grade 2. Each bead represents figures and uses place value conception for advanced figures. There's a vertical bar in the rectangular tool. In the original times the child learns calculi with the help of this tool and latterly the child is suitable to do the same mentally by imaging abacus in the mind. The abacus program helps the child to increase speed and delicacy in calculation computations. It develops the left and right side of the brain and is also called the brain development program. The utmost of the abacus programs have a 2.5- 3 years of duration where the child learns to calculate swiftly in calculi operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Get your child a better insight to abacus with Math2Shine here!
 What's Vedic Maths?
Vedic Maths is a calculation program that helps to develop calculi speed and exactness. It has a lot of shortcut tricks and ways for faster computation called Vedic Sutras. These styles are easy to pick up. Shri Bharti Krishna Tirathji is called the father of Vedic calculi who had conceived all the Vedic Sutras in his book. Children from 8 years of age can start learning Vedic calculi . Vedic Sutras are the speed structure styles, and they're used for faster computations, in addition, subtraction, multiplications, division, squares, cubes, square roots, cube roots, HCF, LCM, and other advanced computations. Multiple of the seminaries have also started to borrow it in their calculation clubs, small exercises in calculi books, and as an after- academy calculation program. Therefore learning the difference between Vedic Maths or Abacus is important for everyone. Still, for a thorough study, it requires 8- 12 months to be completed in Vedic Math.
Vedic Mathematics is a concept that finds its roots in India hence you should always take lessons from the best place like Math2Shine to get better at mathematics and not get afraid of the numbers!
