I wish I could take my time with it though #the error reporting is. well it's easy to generate (it's actually running now) and it's tedious but uncomplicated to send out #but then I'm going to spend the rest of the day getting passive-aggressive responses from everybody #in a just world my coworkers would respond to careful itemized lists of all their fuckups with 'thank you Alexis you're so helpful #we really appreciate you flagging our mistakes two weeks before the system final-saves them forever into stone. have a cookie!'#but alas #if I'd been any less stressed and frantic when I first established the error reporting I'd have set up a separate address to send them from #write up some template emails and let the reporting all come out of the mythical 'automatic system thing'#--every 'automatic system thing' in our college is me or IT on my behalf. even the people who hired me for this don't seem to realize #if only I'd known from the beginning that nobody would ever connect me and my systems! I'd be exploiting the shit out of it--#the unique counts is going to be a headache. no idea how I'm going to structure the coding for it. might be fun to invent? we'll see #the Massive Dick Move email response also will be an invention. Currently listening to this 'lofi hip-hop beats to study/relax to' ass hold music for 10 mins while sitting in a towel on my bed post-shower bc I realized I still haven't switched from an online to in-person major for next semester. And apparently this is the ONLY kind of major change I can't do myself through my student portal. I'm supposed to be signing up for fall classes in like an hour from now 😭 Sigh. At least it feels kind of artsy. I've got my little towel hat on and the music is good. I could be someone's manic pixie dream girl rn

It's so fun being a senior and watching the confused freshman try to figure out campus. They're so young and ignorant and adorable. Yes, that loud noise was normal, it's the steam whistle, it does that. No, you don't want to be on the bus to West Campus, I promise there is nothing there you care about. Can't find room 4075? Look in the corners, nobody ever thinks to look in the corners.

turns out hauling ass working on a project for two and a half months and have super limited free time for that whole period has got me feeling like i need to chew glass now that that projects basically done and dusted i can sit and do nothing for longer than an hour

i'm going to skip two lectures tomorrow, mandatory attendance be damned

#the first skipped lectures of the semester *grim smile*#but they're carefully chosen worthless lectures so i'm not actually missing out on much #i need a mental health break and a day of not waking up at 5am and a chance to catch up on all the studying that i've been putting off #midterms are in two weeks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#my classmates are already solving past exam questions and discussing the answers on the groupchats and it's making me anxious #i'm trying out a spaced repetition system for the first time and idk if it's working or if it will pay off in the end

So turns out the dynamical systems "exam" was just the lecturer making sure we actually understood what we'd done in our assignments, which is very good news because I spent basically all my revision time for it on said assignments but at the same time I do feel a bit disappointed that I made myself stay awake and study for it yesterday despite not having slept the night before and it proved to be for nothing.

#Liveblogging my masters #Even better news is I'm basically assured to pass all last semester's courses #Dynamical systems prof told me I passed at the end of the evaluation and I already have a passing grade in the other two from assignments #Though homological algebra does require passing the oral exam to pass the course #But the exam is just pass/fail and it's my best course so I should be fine #So I still have a lot to do for the second half of this week but I can at least feel more relaxed about it

#so for the mutuals that have been keeping up with the cute little tidbits i’ve been posting about my life—#i fucking hate my major #& after almost crying myself to the point of nausea again i finally did some more research on changing my major #i think i’m going to change my major from information systems to business administration #basically info systems is business & computer science & the bulk of 90% of my issues come from coding #like yes i also dislike my business classes & excel sucks but i find those classes to be easier & manageable compared to my coding ones #not to mention it’s mostly within the wheelhouse of my current major so it only adds two classes to my current grad plan #like yeah there’s gonna be more finance classes which i hate like i hate the math/accounting aspect #but there’s also more marketing type classes where i might actually be able to have a little fun and show some creativity #i imagine my dad will be upset with me—he wants me to stay in this major/not ‘be a quitter’/just ‘try harder’ to learn useful skills #but the alteration isn’t that bad & he can still help me with excel or whatever else #so the change should be good. i still plan to stick it out this semester because i think it’ll be a mess if i drop my classes #not to mention i still need like half the classes i’m taking rn #but since i’m getting my masters in library science it’s one of those things where it literally doesn’t matter at all what—#i get my bachelor’s in #anyways #rose.txt

emerging from my uni's course enrolments portal covered in blood and snot and dried tears and visibly trembling

#ok so first of all apparently i was supposed to enrol in my courses like two weeks ago.#it's not too late to do it now but still um whoops #second of all #my uni has this absolutely batshit parallel system of different study periods #in addition to semesters they also have trimesters and 'sessions'#so half of my classes are running according to the normal predictable schedule of semesters #and half of them are in 'sessions' that start and end at different times.#which means that i'd been assuming i wouldn't have to go back to uni until late february which is when my classes started this year #but nope. turns out shit starts up again for me on THE THIRD OF JANUARY UH OH #and FURTHERMORE last year they decided to um restructure the way my degree is delivered <3 #so several of the classes i've done have been renamed or made redundant #and some of the ones that my schedule from 2021 says i'm supposed to do are no longer offered #or are still offered but have been moved to different times etc #leaving me extremely confused as to what subjects i'm supposed to enrol in and when #and whether or not i will have completed all the prerequisites for graduation or not #ANYWAY i've booked a zoom consultation and done my best to figure it out on my own in the meantime #but like. jesus fucking christ man

ive never been more devastated in my fucking life

#so when picking my classes for the semester #one of classes was just a 3 hour studio class on wednesday #and i thought it was weird bc studio classes are generally either 6 hours for one day or 3 hours for two days #ny wednesdays are gonna be packed either way ill be on campus from 9-7 #but #EXCEPT.....#i just got an wmail that the 3 hour class was a system error and its actually aupposed to be a six hour class #so now im actually gonna be in class from 9am-10pm :D #so like considering im gonna be awake at like 7 ish every morning #im gonna be out and Doing Things for way more than 12 hours #im devastated #the 15 minutes between two studio classes was bad enough #im gonna be so fucking hungry #im gonna have to take lunch at fucking 12 like all the other weirdos #michi tag

got an automated text that my advisor had planned my classes for next semester, all i need to do is hit register. this is the most fucking miserable schedule i have ever seen in my life.

#i cant take a systems technology class AND an accounting class AND a managerial statistics class all at once #not if you want me to end the semester with zero bullets in my head #that statistics class would be two and a half hours once a week #oh and my only other two classes would be macroeconomics and ONE great texts course #so. misery misery misery misery Oh This One's Okay I Guess #this new advisor just started like two months ago #sweetie we are going to need to have a talk #called 'get this stupid ass idea the hell out of your brain'#we are not doing this #i literally just removed the whole plan on self service 😂#sorry honey we have got to start from scratch here literally none of that can be salvaged #(the times were awful too)
