Urgent! Hi I will be in Milan from Thursday, for 9 days. And I was wondering what are the must haves to see, hear, go to, eat etc. And perhaps also other nearby cities (max. 1 hour or so with the train). Also, do you have some tips on how to see everything on a budget. I've been looking at the prices for the tickets, but it's soooo expensive. Any tips, not only related to points above, are welcome. (I had to ask you because we have similar tastes)

Incomplete and not as descriptive as I’d like list, but I wantedto get back at you fast:

If you like liberty architecture and art noveau: walk around Porta Venezia (suggestions: via settembrini, via Pancaldo, corso Venezia, piazza Eleonora Duse) because there are lots of beautiful palazzi (Palazzo Serbelloni, Palazzo del Senato, Palazzo Crespi, Casa Campanini, Casa Berri-Meregalli, Casa Ferraio, Palazzo Castiglioni, Palazzo Bocconi), if I had to pick two favourites they would be Casa Galimberti + Casa Guazzoni

As to museums:

My favourite is the GAM (modernart: 18-20th) – it’s free on the first and the third Tuesdays of the month from 14:00 onwards, so you should be able to get in gratis (otherwise it’s 3€ with a student ID). The park next to it is really good (ignore the sign that says only children), and the building itself is gorgeous. The other park next to it (Indo-Montanelli) is also nice and there are a couple of buildings inside which are nice to look at.

Free museums I love that cover moreor less the same period are Palazzo Morando and Casa Museo Boschi di Stefano.

Museo del 900 is really good and it’sfree if you are under 25.

I really like the Gallerie d’Italia and their current exhibition, but I think that if you see the GAM and the 900 then you already experience much of the same period the Gallerie d’Italia cover.

Next to the Cenacolo (…… which I suppose could be a must see), there’s the Casa degli Atellani/Museo Vigna di Leonardo which is really good but has a rather expensive ticket

If you are into religious art then the Museo Diocesano & Pinacoteca di Brera & Pinacoteca Ambrosiana – I love all of these but that’s just me. All costs €€.

About Brera: typically considered a must see, many paintings are fundamental for Italian art, it spans a couple of centuries (until 16th?). It will be free on the 15th but the 15th is national holiday so there’s going to be loads of people. During the other days it costs 2€ if you are under 25€.

Make a list of all the museums you are interested in and consider the Abbonamento Musei Lombardia (30€ if under 26), which might be worth it if you also want to go other cities in the region

The Castello Sforzesco is a landmark and it’s worth to go there just to see it from the outside. However, it also houses a bunch of different museums (my favourite is the Museo delle Arti Decorative). It’s free on the third Thursday of the month (which is today, sorry for the late reply).

Other architecture: Piazzale Dateo, viale Tunisia, Bosco Verticale, Scuole Palatine,via Lincoln

Landmark churches: the Duomo (to enter you have to pay), Basilica di Sant’Ambrogio, Chiesa di Santa Maria presso San Satiro, Santuario di San Bernardino alle Ossa

Churches: it’s difficult to choose but San Fedele (there’s a small museum inside for 3€, if you want to spend it it’s nice, but it’s not fundamental), San LorenzoMaggiore, Chiesa di San Maurizio alMonastero Maggiore (fav), San Nazaro in Brolo Maggiore, Chiesa di San Marco,Basilica di San Simplicaino

Other nice parks include Giardini della Guastalla and Parco Sempione (landmark: Arco della Pace)

I suppose a ‘must do’ is to walk down the Navigli – go there in the evening

The Cimitero Monumentale is also quite amazing

Have an aperitivo and honestly I would spend spend the majority of your money on food

Recs for places to eat: Pastsa Fresca Brambilla (pasta), Gelsominan(coffee shop), Slow Sud (italian restaurant), Spontini (pizza alta, cheap, v famous),Sidro (good wine, the aperitivo is a food place), Lentini (truly amazing food,it’s mid-range price, expect to spend about 30€ pp), TOM (best place for anaperitivo imo if you want the buffet-style one which is typical of milan), MacelleriaPellegrini (great meat), La Teiera Eclettica (tea shop), Dhalia Lab or Pavè orClotilde Bistrot are all good coffee shops but honestly there are so many,Fiordiponti (great focaccia), Ammù(cannoli), Chocolat (gelato), Trattoria Sabbioneda or Brutto Anatroccolo (cheapgood traditional food), Luini (famous place for panzerotti), Panzarotti (betterpanzerotti), Pescetto (not expensive fish), Signorvino (wine), Marghe or Pizz(great pizza), Pizzottella (still pizza but peculiar)

These are all places I’ve tried - in general for recs I trust ‘amilanopuoi’ on instagram

I don’t have time to get into details but other beautiful places you can reach bytrain: Bergamo, Como, Mantova, Pavia and I would feel bad if I didn’t include Arona/Stresa which is where I am from

Milan Day One

My trip to Milan didn't start off too well with my flight from Bucharest being delayed for three hours and my trip from the airport to the hotel in Milan's northern city limit being an uncomfortably close transfer. I actually had to run to the platform to slip into the train that could get me to the metro station in time to catch the last metro out to Villa San Giovanni before they stopped services for the night. I'm glad I managed to make it as I immediately noticed the fashion world presence by some of the characters on the train. Huge boots, model pouts and jackets made of questionable materials were on the agenda. By the time I finally arrived I was exhausted and so happy to have my own room to relax in.

I slept in until 9am and then had breakfast in a very crowded room. It was raining when I headed out walking but I had actually packed an umbrella for some weird reason (I hate umbrellas and never use them normally), so it came in handy. I decided to buy a two day ticket but of course the first gate I used it on swallowed it and I had to play charades with the attendant to explain what happened so he could retrieve it for me. All was well and he turned out to be very friendly and helpful. I walked to a small cafe that was on my radar called Orso Nero and had intended to sit inside to enjoy my flat white but it was so crowded that there were no more free seats. Takeaway it was! Which actually was a far better option because the rain had stopped and I could stroll comfortably through the city parks to the central attraction of Milan - the Duomo. It was as spectacular as I had imagined, the huge bone white skeletal construction looming over a large open square full of tourists and flocks of birds. It was so impressive I'm hardly surprised it took about 500 years to complete, it was just a shame the line to go inside was so long. I had to simply enjoy being back in Italy again. Italia has been one of my fondest travel memories for its beautiful culture, language, scenery, food and above all, coffee. On my last visit I had found every city so different from the last with memorable moments to be had everywhere, and even though I've only travelled Italy alone I have never felt lonely here because the people are so warm and easy to talk to even if they don't speak much English. Milan was striking in general. It said fashion, elegance and class the way I had expected with well dressed inhabitants, tidy streets, extravagant window displays and beautiful architecture. The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II was the perfect example of Milan's luxurious atmosphere; a 19th century arcade full of upscale restaurants and high end shopping, all encased in this grand glass-domed roof with ceiling murals. After wandering through the arcade a few times I found a Deutsche Bank ATM to get cashed up and visited Maurizio Cattelan's sculpture of a middle finger positioned in front of the stock market offices (formally known as L.O.V.E). I then visited the Sforzesco Castle where I bought a fried dough thing covered in sugar for two euros and walked around inside while I munched on it. On the other side of the castle was Sempione Park that was hosting some pink parade event and somehow I'd accidentally worn my pink tshirt today and so I seemed to fit right in! It started to rain again so I took shelter around some souvenir shops where I picked out my magnet and then walked past a giant sewing needle on the way my last place to visit today before returning the hotel. A visit to the Basilica di Santa Maria presso San Satiro was on my list because of its famous "perspective wall". The church had been built with two long knaves but there was no room for a third knave behind the alter. This is where the magic is - the flat wall behind the alter has been painted with the most intricate pattern to give the illusion of a third knave. Looking straight on it looks like it extends backward the same way the two side knaves do however when you look at it from the side you can see that it's just a flat wall! I rested in the hotel for a few hours while it rained and then headed out briefly once the restaurants reopened to have a quick dinner at a fast food lasagna place called Sorry Mama where I was the only customer - I assume most Italians eat their dinner later in the night!

-Strings: Purple strings that aren't so easy to cut or snap. Many people underestimate this power for it is actually very versatile and has lots of uses. He mainly uses it as transportation, wrapping them around his opponent, nets to safe himself from a fall/to catch his enemy, and lots more. These strings require a lot of focus to control. Losing focus could cause them to fall limp or lose control.

-Whip: One of his main weapons. This whip is indeed made out of multiple strings coiled together. It can also extend to his will.

-Bow and Arrow: His second main weapon. His bows are also made of the same coiled strings. The arrow itself is made of magic, and acts like a homing missle and follows his opponents.

-Invisibility: His most magic-consuming ability, since he has to spread his magic throughout his entire body, which is why he can't use this ability for too long.

-(Special)Puppeteer: Using some special strings, he coils them around his opponents soul/limbs to take full control of them and act like his puppet. The one being controlled will still be awake (unless unconcious) but they are unable to move their own body at all. With these strings, Third is also able to make them use their own powers, either against themselves or against others.

Strengths: Carefully plans out strategies which is why he's known to be the "second leader" of the squad. With his magic being versatile he can do almost anything with it.

Weaknesses: Has the lowest stamina among the squad. With his attacks mostly using magic consumtion, he gets tired much faster. He also has a weaker immune system so he can get sick easier.

Trivia:

-The one who was able to save Vince from his conflict.

-Has no interest in dating/romance. The type of "studies > romance" kinda guy.

-He's the secretary of the student council of his school.

-Wears gloves to hide scars from cat scratches.

-Squirms and screams a lot and laughs loudly.

-She might retaliate and try to tickle you back to make you stop or just straight up turn the situation i to a tickle fight.

-Or she could just straight up lay there and take it until you're done.

-"Oh wait, you're done? Aww, okay!"

Ler:

-A very confusing yet scary ler. Can either be soft, teasy, playful, ruthless, or all together.

-"Cmooon, I know you're having fun!~ I can sense it from you after all~"

-She still checks if her lee is comfortable. Will often ask if the lee needs breaks

-Very teasy of course.

-Usually giggles along with her lee since she's having fun.

Weaknesses:

-Squeezing or prodding her hips/sides drives her nuts. She'll scream with laughter real loudly and she'll try her best to squirm away.

-Slowly tracing/scratching/wiggling your fingers on the bottom part of her belly will make her melt and turn into a squealy, blushing, giggling mess.

-Feathers are also effective on her, but she's okay with them.

-Her feet are actually more ticklish with socks on.

-LOVES neck tickles. Very soft and relaxing if you're being gentle.

Opinion: When being tickled, it depends on his mood and who's tickling him. Doesn't mind it if you're close to him. But when he's the ler, he definitely goes all out. He even calls himself the "Tickle Monster".

Lee:

-Always tries to hold in his laughter, but once he breaks he bursts into giggle fits.

-A bit squirmy and flinches a lot. Will definitely try to fight back. If you're not as strong as him, using bonds is better than pinning him with your arms only.

-He tries to hide his blush with his hood if he's wearing one.

-He's usually too shy and embarrassed to admit he's having fun.

-His laughter gets all hiccupy when he's reaching his limit.

Ler:

-He's known to plan and get revenge on you if you've tickled him. He says that "Whatever you do to me, I'll make it much worse for you", and oh boy you need to run.

-Really skilled at tickling and very teasy. He takes his time to observe what gets the best reactions from you then goes to town.

-If he really wants to get you good he'll sometimes use his electrokinesis to produce gentle sparks to tickle you (which are incredibly tingly).

-Although he is quite mean(in terms of tickling ofc), he's also a really caring ler and gives you just as much aftercare.

Weakness:

-If you get his belly button, he's done for. He can barely even hold in his laughter once his navel is being tickled. Not even able to hold in a single squeak or squeal.

-Feather sensitive. That's it, that's the post.

-Raspberries are also a killer, most especially if its directly on his navel or the back and side of his neck.

-He also can't handle rib counting, especially if you do the thing where you keep on repeating cause you "lost count", oh he'll hate you(/lh) for that

-Fun fact: Although he's immune to electricity, if the volts are high enough, it tickles for him.

-His ears are also a bit ticklish and gently tickling them will get him soft and flustered.

Role: Lee leaning switch

Ticklishness: 4 - 5

Worst Spots:

Opinion: Mostly embarasses him and thinks its pretty childish. But if his ler is someone he's close to, then he might possibly enjoy it. He's definitely okay with being the tickler.

Lee:

-Can't handle teases (both physical and verbal, but most especially verbal). Once you tease him about being tickled, even before you start tickling him he's already blushing. He thinks its so embarassing to hear and so childishly evil.

-Will call you names like "jerk, dummy, idiot", etc, but he doesn't actually mean it.

-Will try to squirm/run away if you do tickle him.

-Struggles to say the word "Tickle" if he's embarassed.

-Really shy and self-concious about his laugh and smile, so he covers his face often. But its still the cutest in the world.

-Always says that he isn't ticklish, even if everyone already knows that he actually is.

Ler:

-Has a big advantage since he can use his strings to tie/pin down his lee.

-He can also make his own tools by coiling and connecting his strings. Usually he makes soft brushes or feathers.

-Though he hates(/lh) being teased, he does tease his lee while tickling.

-Also tries to find his lee's worst spot or most ticklish spots, and uses different tactics to tickle them.

-He's definitely influenced by Vince.

Weakness:

-As said. Teasing. Whether its verbal or physical, it kills him and turns him into a red-faced mess.

-And by physical teasing, if you tickle him gently/slowly, it just kills him. Especially if its his worst spots.

-Verbal teasing, like "tickle tickle", "cootchi cootchi coo", or baby-talking him will make him red-faced instantly.

-Blindfolds also increase his sensitivity due to anticipation and makes him much more timid and flustered, which is why he hates(/lh) it.

-Any tickle tool is effective oh him honestly.

-His hips also have this sweet spot right near the waistline. Give those a little squeeze and he'll loose his sanity.

-Secretly likes chin tickles. Give him some gentle scritches there and he'll melt.

Role: Switch

Opinion: Doesn't like being tickled, especially infront of other people. But oftenly likes to poke her friends' sides.

Lee:

-Better be careful when you tickle her. Most especially her feet. She might accidentally kick you as well, but she will apologize for it.

-Since she's fast (with speed boost or without), she can easily run away from her ler. As long as her ler is not as fast as her, that is.

-Really squealy while laughing.

-Neutral towards teases but will try to tease back.

Ler:

-A pretty cheeky ler. As said, she likes to poke her friends sometimes just for fun.

-As her way of teasing, she'll try to act like she's oblivious and ask her lee what's wrong, or ask if they are ticklish, etc.

-She does the same tactic Vince does, which is using her electrokinesis to make sparks to tickle her lee. But she doesn't do that very often.

Weaknesses:

-Using any tickle tool on her feet will make her scream with laughter.

-Call her cute when she's tickled, she'll be speechless from fluster but is also flattered.

-Her knees are also ticklish. Doing that thing where you open and close your fingers on the kneecaps makes he squeak.

-And like Vince, although immune to electricity, high volts of it would tickle her.

Opinion: Very shy about it, but actually enjoys being tickled since he grew used to it with his siblings. He mostly keeps it a secret though, but its a lot more obvious than it is.

Lee:

-A very shy lee. Has trouble asking what he wants or giving hints. Though he's often a lot more silent and red-faced when in a lee mood.

-Lots of squeals, squeaks, and shrieks in his laugh.

-He tries not to squirm too much, but he does when the tickles get more intense.

-When being teased, he'll definitely blush instantly. If he has his scarf with him, he tries to hide his face in it.

-If you tickle him for too long or too roughly, there's a chance he might fall asleep from exhaustion after the tickling ends.

-Looooves cuddles after tickles, but he's also too shy to mention it.

Ler:

-Also a shy ler too. He tries his best to tickle his lee, but he isn't too skilled since he's the one who prefers to be tickled.

-He doesn't really get into that much tickle fights, unless he has another ler teamed with him.

-Very careful when tickling his lee and always asks if you're alright.

Weaknesses:

-Gentle tickles on his underarms and sides will make him squirm, squeal, and blush madly.

-Once you get his toes, he'll be screaming for mercy.

-Using any tickle tool is extremely effective on him. Whether its used on his upper body or his feet, it'll make him squeal with laughter.

-Teasing = Fluster, even if its just "tickle tickle tickle~" oh he's gone.

Opinion: Dislikes being tickled. Finds it embarrassing, especially when they find out where he's actually ticklish. If someone's being tickled though he'll sometimes join in if he's feeling micheivous.

Lee:

-Not much of a lee due to his very low ticklishness. He only ticklish on a few spots.

-Swears a lot though when tickled like oh boy.

-Cringes at teases. Still blushes at them cause of embarrassment.

-Will squirm a lot and try to push or kick you away if not restrained.

-His tickled laugh is much louder than his normal laugh, which he's embarrassed about.

-Gets exhausted if tickled for too long.

Ler:

-This guy wont hesitate to build a tickle machine and put you in it to "test it out".

-Although his small and petite body probably isn't strong enough to pin you down, he's still able to put up quite a fight.

-Doesn't really tease you verbally, but he'll smirk at you during the tickling.

Weaknesses:

-Listen. Rough tickles are the only way you can tickle him. Soft/Gentle tickles will never work on him. Rough tickles like prodding, squeezing, kneading, etc will get a laugh out of him, especially on his worst spots.

-This is also the reason why he can't handle back massages, which are literally the end of him.

-Shoulder squeezes drive him up the wall, like oh god he can't sit still

-Squeezing his lower ribs is unbearable for him like oh god its very tingly.

Opinion: Tries not to get on the recieving end. Will definitely tickle his friends though. Most likely the one to start tickle fights.

Lee:

-Usually gets tickled by people who want revenge on him for the pranks he caused.

-Will try to fight back if unrestrained, which would most likely turn the situation into a tickle fight.

-Doesn't get flustered easily but still blushes.

-Will try to act like he isn't ticklish and try to hide it, but it usually fails.

Ler:

-Veeeery mischeivous and playful ler.

-Will laugh along with his lee sometimes.

-Teases his lee a lot, especially about their features like their laugh, ticklishness, expression, etc.

-Can be a bit mean(In terms of tickling) sometimes but will never go too far.

-He'll offer you something like free snacks as aftercare.

Weaknesses:

-Kneading his ribs are a killer. Can't handle his ribs being tickled at all, especially without flinching or squirming.

-Rib counting... Just.. Just no- (/lh /nsrs)

-Hates(/lh) the thing when you slowly walk two fingers up his sides/torso.

-Constantly skittering your fingers on his underarms will turn him into a giggly mess, especially when you lightly drag your nails from his elbow to his underarms, he gets really tingly.

-When he says "Im not ticklish" and you reply with "Can I tickle you to make sure?", oh he's in for it now.

Worst Spots:

Opinion: Embarrassed about it. But also gets anxious about it since he's unable to control his fire magic while being tickled, unless you're someone he's close with. Is alright with being the ler though.

Lee:

-Begs the ler to stop at first since he's worried he might accidentally burn you. But if you're someone he's comfortable with, you're safe to tickle him since he completely trusts you.

-Will actually allow you to tickle him as long as you don't go too far.

-Actually tries to stay still for you!

-Tries to hold in his laugh sometimes but greatly fails to.

Ler:

-His fingers are quite warm when he tickles his lees.

-Is usually a kind ler and never goes too far. Will also constantly ask if you're comfortable or if you need a break.

-His teases are more like compliments such as "Your laugh's adorable!", "You're doing great", etc.

-Very generous with his aftercare too and will hug you too if you want.

Weaknesses:

-Easily affected by teases, so he blushes immediately. Sometimes tries to deny it, but it still gets him flustered.

-Gentle tickles drive him crazy, especially on his stomach.

-Raspberries = Death.

-Squeals when you tickle his inner thighs. Gently raking your fingers up and down is the way to go. Squeezing really works too.

-Using brushes on his feet will make him scream with laughter, whether its the bristled brushes like toothbrushes, or plastic ones like hairbrushes. Above his arches are also a big sweetspot on his feet.

-Feathers and gentle tickles in general work like a charm on his waistline.

-His neck is a meltspot and gets soft and giggly when you gently tickle him there.

-The palms of his hands are also slightly ticklish too.
