here are some barcelona recs from someone who lives there, other than things barça related:

- the beach, especially in the mornings or during sunset

- for a pretty view of the whole city: tibidabo/temple expiatori del sagrat cor, túro de la rovira, mirador del nen de la rutlla, mirador de l'alcalde, MNAC

- shopping: passeig de gràcia, portal de l'angel/ciutat vella - try to avoid la rambla if you can

- if you like gardens: teatre grec/jardins de laribal, jardí botànic de barcelona, parc del laberint d'horta, parc de la ciutadella (+ hivernacle del parc de la ciutadella, a greenhouse in the park)

- for architecture/pretty things: parc güell, casa batlló, la perdrera, casa vincens gaudí, sagrada família (most people take their pictures in plaça de gaudí), recinte modernista de sant pau, arc de triomf, catedral de barcelona, el pont del bisbe, el mural del petó, palau de la música catalana, plaça reial

- food is very personal so just some general things: if you want to go to mercat de la boqueria, mercat de santa caterina is a better option with less tourists, try not to go to restaurants in the very busy and touristy streets, trust me the quality is bad, if you want to eat paella, eat it for lunch (it's not supposed to be a dinner food) at a specialized rice restaurant, and be prepared to eat dinner after 8/9PM haha

L'instint assassí també pot sortir-me al teatre. Ahir, hores després de quedar-me tancada a l'ascensor, vaig anar amb el Marc a La Villarroel a veure 'Ragazzo', un monòleg que interpreta l'Oriol Pla. Fa un paper sensacional i crec que és una obra que val molt la pena sobre l'activista italià Carlo Giuliani, assassinat a tiros per la policia a Via Tolemaide de Gènova, l'any 2001.

Qui no va fer un paper sensacional va ser el Marc, que quasi em fa emprenyar perquè va arribar passades les 20h al teatre, quan en teoria començava l'obra. Per sort això no és ni Alemanya ni el Japó: som a Barcelona i aquí no som tan puntuals. A mi m'encanta la gent puntual, crec que és la meva virtut preferida.

Com deia, el Marc va arribar abans de començar l'obra, per tant, finalment no va caldre que m'emprenyés pel seu retràs. El que no ens esperàvem és el que passaria a continuació: comença l'obra, primer fosc… Una dona files darrere nostre tus. No em vaig immutar, però sí fixar-m'hi, pensant "ai, aquesta, a veure si ara està malalta i ens donarà la turra tota l'obra amb la seva tos". No m'equivocava massa: NO NOMÉS ella tenia tos, 30 segons després, un home de segona fila tus. Però no és tos de malaltia aquest cop, és carraspera, allò que rasca el coll en dos tempos, com si el paio hagués de parlar (? wtf ets al teatre, no has de parlar) i s'esclarís la veu. L'Oriol Pla no s'havia aixecat del llit -literalment l'obra comença amb ell al llit-, que una tercera persona també fa la carraspera. Ja està. En aquell moment vaig veure clar que el públic que m'havia tocat no sabia que era al teatre sinó que es pensava que era una jam session de la tos i que tothom hi podia participar. No van parar en tota l'obra de tossir. Que si el tio de davant, la tia de darrera, la senyora de més enllà, MARE MEVA. Si estigués pirada, m'hagués aixecat de la cadira i hagués cridat "a la de 3 tossiu tots a la vegada i JA NO TORNEU A TOSSIR MÉS EN TOTA L'OBRA". O hauria escanyat l’home de dues files endavant, cridant "para de tossiiiiiir que no sentim res" mentre els meus peus haguessin quedat a la falda de la noia la fila del darrere i li hagués tacat el jersei blanc que ens il·luminava a tots, amb les meves vambes. Potser hagués acabat a Twitter fent això. O pitjor, a l'En Blau. Per sort no estic pirada.

Total que avui, per coses de la vida (mentida, per coses laborals) he anat a l'Antiga Fàbrica Damm al photocall que munten dels nominats i nominades dels premis Gaudí, que seran el diumenge 22. Total, que qui hi havia? Efectivament, Oriol Pla. I m'hi he acostat i li he preguntat: "escolta, tu eres conscient ahir a 'Ragazzo' de la quantitat de gent amb pulmonia que hi havia? No paraven de tossir". I m'ha confirmat que sí, i que "és tot un tema això de la tos, però crec que la majoria de cops és la tos nerviosa quan hi ha silencis". Doncs mira, si és així -que segurament sí perquè qui deu tenir més experiència amb la puta tos de la penya afortunadament no soc jo-, crec que hi ha individus d'aquesta societat que tenen una feina pendent que és aprendre a interactuar en el silenci. I arribar puntuals als llocs, també, ja que hi som.

Com deia, he estat a la Damm. La Damm és un espai meravellós que sempre m'ha agradat molt, i no per la birra (que és la meva preferida entre les poques cerveses que tolero). A la Damm hi ha cerveses per tot arreu, però per tot arreu. Els que fan la newsletter deuen somiar en cerveses. Està plena de cerveses l'entrada, la sortida i també el lavabo. Et rentes les mans després de fer caca al costat d’Estrelles selectes que no estan a la venda. Hi ha fins i tot samarretes de cerveses allà exposades amb les ampolles. Marketing. Bueno, total, que he entrat a fer pipí i mentre estava pixant he sentit que entrava algú i que tan bon punt es posava a pixar, patapam. Un tro, uau, quin pet s'ha tirat la pájara aquesta. M'he tapat la boca per no riure perquè el que em pensava que era només un pet ha acabat sent un fusil de asalto M4 i vinga metralleta. M'he espantat i tot. He pensat "Pobra, es pensa que està sola". I res, que per pudor -mai millor dit- m'he quedat més estona de rigor per esperar que sortís i així no havíem de creuar mirades. Quina vergonya. Ara deu dormir pensant que ningú l'ha sentit fer caca a la Damm, però filla, t'equivoques.

Tajemnice parku Guell, które przedstawię w tym artykule, pomogą wam zrozumieć jak wielkim geniuszem Był Antonio Gaudi, który zaprojektował tę przestrzeń! Park Guell Projektowany był jako osiedle dla bogatych mieszczan Barcelońskich żyjących w XIX w. Wówczas rozwój technologiczny oraz rozbudowa miasta, a także liczne kontakty handlowe doprowadziły do nagłego i gigantycznego rozwoju miasta oraz powstawania równie potężnych fortun. Jedną z osób, która swój majątek mogła porównywać nawet z majątkiem korony hiszpańskiej, był niejaki Euzebio Guell. Mecenas prac Antonio Gaudiego postanowił wybudować na jednym ze wzgórz Barcelony osiedle dla Bogatej części Barcelońskiej społeczności. Niestety ze względu na dość spore oddalenie od ówczesnego centru miasta nie było chętnych, którzy chcieliby zamieszkać w tym miejscu, w efekcie po wybudowaniu wszelkich części wspólnych porzucono plan wybudowania osiedla, a kilka lat później teren ten odsprzedano miastu, które przekształciło go w park miejski. Rambla del Raval: This pedestrian walkway traverses the center of Raval and is a well-liked gathering spot for both locals and visitors. There is a sizable sculpture of a cat by Fernando Botero there, and there are cafes, restaurants, and businesses all around it.

Plaça dels Angels: This square is well-liked among skaters, street performers, and people-watchers and is situated in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA). Additionally, it offers several cultural events all year long.

Visitors to the neighborhood can enjoy food from all over the world, including traditional Spanish tapas, Moroccan cuisine, and Indian curries. Despite its recent transformation, El Raval has managed to retain its authentic character and is still home to many long-time residents who have lived in the neighborhood for generations. Its narrow streets and historic buildings give it a unique charm that sets it apart from other areas of Barcelona. In my opinion, it is located in the perfect position because it is in the heart of Barcelona but is a much cheaper and affordable area as opposed to its surroundings.

This area was absolutely designed for youth and you can see this by looking at how much it costs to do anything here. As seen by the buildings, they are mostly free of charge which allows the youth who may not have as much money to spend on various activities to still be able to enjoy the area. When we were walking through it I saw an abundance of students walking around, listening to music and even skateboarding through the streets.

When walking through the Raval neighborhood, I noticed a lot of different signs, posters, and street art wherever I went. A lot of these posters were depicting different social gatherings directed and the youth in the area. Since there is a large university located here a lot of these events are very lively and more socially liberal to target the beliefs of the people in the area. The street art in the area also represents the same ideas. I saw a lot of graffiti and other art which lets people in the area represent themselves and their interests. In many places I see art such as this getting painted over but not here. This makes me see that this area was specifically designed for young artists, students, and activists.

The region's historical and cultural significance may be one of the causes. The heart of Barcelona's red-light district was located in the Raval neighborhood, which was formerly a working-class area. A new generation of artists, activists, and businesspeople, however, have significantly transformed the region in recent years and revived the neighborhood. As a result, alternative cultural institutions like art galleries, music venues, and independent theaters have begun to appear.

The area's diverse population may also have influenced the alternative culture scene there. There are a lot of immigrants living in the Raval neighborhood, including those from North Africa, South Asia, and Latin America. Due to this, a multicultural environment has been developed that has encouraged creativity and innovation. The Raval has drawn visitors seeking a more alternative and countercultural way of life due to its reputation as a bohemian and rebellious district. Si viviu aprop de Barcelona jo recomano "La volta al món en 80 ties" a la Sala Atrium (una performance sobre les dones i la història, molt interessant i amb molt d'humor) i "Barcelona 24h" al Teatre Gaudí (un musical tipo comèdia romàntica). Totes dues són molt entretingudes fins i tot si no sou gaire fans del teatre.

The capital city of Spain's Catalonia region is one of Europe's most impressive and awe-inspiring travel destinations. A city of contrasts, it is distinct in Spain, most evident in its signature architecture, a marriage of Gothic and modern, with one name featured more than any other, the famous architect Antonio Gaudi. Take a Tour of Barcelona

It takes even an energetic tourist a week to do Barcelona, so with only a single day, you'll be very busy. Don't miss famous destinations such as La Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's astounding church, the medieval, characterful Barrio Gothic area, and the Picasso museum. Finally head up to Montjuic for a wonderful view over the whole of the city and the surrounding hills and ocean.

La Sagrada Familia

Barcelona's funkiest church was designed by Barcelona's most famous son  Gaudi. Work began in 1883, and the imaginative building is only now nearing completion. Don't miss features like the nativity-themed facade, the mosaic bell towers, and ornate doorways showing faith, hope and charity.

Las Ramblas

A fabulous boulevard leading from Port Vell to Placa de Catalunya, the heart of old Barcelona. The street is packed with cafes, shops, florists, street entertainers, and Boqueria, a colorful market. Half way along Las Ramblas lies the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona's gorgeous opera house. La Rambla ends at the Placa de Catalunya, a large plaza filled by cafes and shops.

Barri Gotic

The Gothic Quarter is steeped with a wonderful olde-world atmosphere. The streets are winding and narrow and packed with busy life. Art lovers will enjoy the Museu Picasso, showcasing the artwork of Picasso. Also worth visiting is the Cathedral of Santa Eulalia, a splendid example of early-European architecture.

Gaudí planned an amazing house with undulating, living curves for the developer Pere Milà Camps. La Pedrera was Gaudi's last work before spending all his time to the construction of the Sagrada Família.

Parc Guell

Another Gaudi design, Parc Guell is a fascinating town park.  The planting is imaginative and colorful, but the real star is Gaudi's hard landscaping, likefaux temples and mosaic seats.

Montjuic

The area of Montjuic is 700 ft above Barcelona's port and is chock-a-block with boutiques, galleries,cafes and museums.  Don't miss the Museu Arqueologic which showcases items from early civilizations from Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. Another superb museum is the Museu Nacional d'art de Catalunya, which has a large collection of Romanesque art.

Available Cruises

Barcelona offers a big choice of itineraries. A favorite is the trip around  the Western Mediterranean. Other options include the Canary Islands, Morocco, or longer trips to the Eastern Mediterranean and Greece. For more details see Barcelona Cruises.

Cruise Ship Terminals

Cruise ships berth at Port Vell. The area has become a tourist attraction by itself with a large Maremàgnum shopping center with a fun IMAX theater, and Europe's biggest aquarium. Port Vell links directly to Las Ramblas, the main Barcelona avenue packed with eateries and street entertainment that leads right into the center of the city.  Las Ramblas is alternately called the singular form, La Rambla.

There are eight terminals at the Barcelona port, split into 3 locations.

Adossat Quay

Cruise Terminals A, B, C and D are located at the Adossat Quay and are the greatest distance from the city. Terminal D also has the name Palacruceros.  Buses run from these terminals to the foot of Las Ramblas.

Port Vell Terminal M

Across from the WTC terminal. This ferry terminal is sometimes used for cruiseliners.

Walking

For the Adossat quay cruise ship  terminals, (A, B, C and D)  you need to catch a shuttle bus called the Blue Bus which picks ups at the Christopher Columbus memorial and drops off at Adossat dock.

Metro

The Drassanes stop (Green Line, L3) is no more than 5 minutes by foot from the Columbus statue.

Taxi

It's easy to take a cab from the city center to the port.  This is inexpensive, fare about eight euros, and quick, normally less than a quarter of an hour. .

Travelling from the Aiport to the Port

By public transport

Take the Aerobusline A1 from terminal 1, line A2 from terminal 2 to Placa Catalunya in Barcelona, service approximately every 10 minutes, then catch the metro from Catalunya to Drassanes. From Drassanes walk to the Columbus monument. Wait for the Blue bus which takes you to your cruise terminal.

Taxi

The quickest option for travelling from the airport to the port is a taxi.  The trip will take you about 25 minutes and will cost you around thirty Euros in total. The cost will include per-bag extras plus additional airport and cruise port charges.

Els préssecs arriben als Gaudí

Carla Simón és la meva nova persona preferida del món. És la directora d''Alcarràs', una de les pel·lícules favorites als Premis Gaudí que efectivament s'ha endut diverses estatuetes. Doncs bé, la cosa està que el dia aquell que vaig anar a la fàbrica Damm i vaig fotre la turra a l'Oriol Pla pel tema de la tos als teatres*, també vaig entrevistar la Carla Simón. I entre les preguntes i tal li vaig preguntar si ja anava amb el discurs preparat en cas que hagués de pujar a recollir un Gaudí. Em va dir que no, que normalment el que fa és un cop allà mateix pensa "a veure, què hauria de dir?" i més o menys es fa un croquis mental dels agraïments i tal. Llavors li vaig proposar que per què no intentava colar la paraula 'préssecs'. Si heu vist la pel·lícula sabreu que no és gaire difícil colar aquesta paraula en el discurs d'agraïments. Em va dir que vale, que si no se n'oblidava ho faria. DONCS ATENCIÓ... endevineu quina paraula va colar la Carla al seu discurs? Efectivament, quan va pujar a buscar el Gaudí per millor guió va colar la paraula préssecs. Tinc el vídeo i ho adjunto tot aquí

Des de llavors la Carla s'ha convertit en la meva persona preferida. Es pot considerar agenda setting? Voto sí. Que potser la paraula li va sortir de dins i en cap moment va pensar en mi? Potser. Però jo vull pensar que va colar préssecs perquè li vaig demanar, per mantenir viva aquesta llegenda ho deixo escrit.
