Video games
Video games, also known as computer games, are electronic games that involve interaction with a user interface or input device – such as a joystick, controller, keyboard, or motion sensing device – to generate visual feedback. This feedback mostly commonly is shown on a video display device, such as a TV set, monitor, touchscreen, or virtual reality headset. Some computer games do not always depend on a graphics display; for example, text adventure games and computer chess can be played through teletype printers. Video games are often augmented with audio feedback delivered through speakers or headphones, and sometimes with other types of feedback, including haptic technology.
Video games are defined based on their platform, which include arcade video games, console games, and personal computer (PC) games. More recently, the industry has expanded onto mobile gaming through smartphones and tablet computers, virtual and augmented reality systems, and remote cloud gaming. Video games are classified into a wide range of genres based on their type of gameplay and purpose.
The first video game prototypes in the 1950s and 1960s were simple extensions of electronic games using video-like output from large room-size computers. The first consumer video game was the arcade video game Computer Space in 1971. In 1972 came the iconic hit arcade game Pong, and the first home console, the Magnavox Odyssey. The industry grew quickly during the golden age of arcade video games from the late 1970s to early 1980s, but suffered from the crash of the North American video game market in 1983 due to loss of publishing control and saturation of the market. Following the crash, the industry matured, dominated by Japanese companies such as Nintendo, Sega, and Sony, and established practices and methods around the development and distribution of video games to prevent a similar crash in the future, many of which continue to be followed. Today, video game development requires numerous skills to bring a game to market, including developers, publishers, distributors, retailers, console and other third-party manufacturers, and other roles.
In the 2000s, the core industry centered on "AAA" games, leaving little room for riskier, experimental games. Coupled with the availability of the Internet and digital distribution, this gave room for independent video game development (or indie games) to gain prominence into the 2010s. Since then, the commercial importance of the video game industry has been increasing. The emerging Asian markets and mobile games on smartphones in particular are altering player demographics towards casual gaming and increasing monetization by incorporating games as a service. As of 2020, the global video game market has estimated annual revenues of US$159 billion across hardware, software, and services. This is three times the size of the 2019 global music industry and four times that of the 2019 film industry.

China has imposed recent restrictions on its entertainment industry, including banning those under 18 from playing online games during the weekdays.
Tumblr media
Youth Mode/Restricted Mode
The Youth Mode refers to the "Youth Anti-addiction System" launched in March 2019 by the China National Internet Information Office. The primary short video and live broadcast platforms have been tested and deployed. Minors' internet activity must be controlled. 53 online video and live broadcast outlets have implemented the "Youth Mode" as of October.
Because "Youth Mode" is optional, the individual parameters of each network platform are not same. However, it generally includes: inputting the four-digit password specified in advance to enter or leave the mode; after entering the "youth mode," the total time of each usage cannot exceed 40 minutes; after 40 minutes, if you want to continue using, you must enter the password again; Furthermore, if you wish to access the short video app between 22:00 and 6:00 the next day, you must enter the password. The preceding settings can successfully assist parents in controlling the time and length of their children's Internet usage.
Why?
The age at which youngsters can use the Internet is decreasing as electronic products become more prevalent. Today's youngsters are precocious and immature, unable to comprehend the potential implications of their actions while with talents that do not correspond to their age.
When a new TV is purchased, many elders in the household must spend some time learning how to use the remote control. However, youngsters in elementary school who are still playing online games and tipping live streamers might get started with new activities and are more prone to become hooked and overindulge in them.
Are they really respecting the developmental laws and psychological stages of children?
I tried to open the youth mode in my comic application, and it is definitely a whole different page, but all I can say is that this is clearly not the "youth mode," but rather the "kindergarten mode." The comics displayed appear to be fairy tales for preschoolers.
If the only method to display the youth mode is to show a low-intelligence or castrated version of the films or books, then I believe the creators have misread the cognitive capacity of children at various levels and have not truly honoured the youth growth law.
Yes, many adults treat children as vassals with no thinking or autonomous wants, thus they are hesitant to spend more time investigating a content system designed specifically for teens. What children require is a "youth mode" with high-quality material that encourages youngsters to browse. It is not a one-size-fits-all cut of content that is inappropriate for children, but rather to supply the audience, that is, young people, with unique watching content.
My Point Of View
Certainly, limiting teenagers' access to live entertainment and gaming is appropriate since it can successfully prevent them from becoming addicted. Restriction, however, does not mean full isolation. Blocking is worse than sparse, which cannot fix the problem fundamentally. Teenagers will become curious and rebellious if they are rejected outright.
Rather than denying them access, it is preferable to allow them to fully comprehend. Only by thoroughly knowing the pros and drawbacks of a situation can we determine if it is correct or incorrect.

The Evolution of Audio Visual Products: From Analog to Digital
The audio visual (AV) industry has come a long way since its inception. What started as analog products like record players and cathode ray tube (CRT) televisions has now transformed into digital devices like smartphones and smart TVs. With technology rapidly evolving, the needs and preferences of consumers have also changed significantly. This evolution was made possible through continued innovation in areas like av system design software, microchip technology, display technologies, and connectivity standards. In this blog post, we will look at the key stages in the evolution of AV products from analog to digital and how each new generation of devices brought more advanced features and interconnectivity.
Tumblr media
From Analog to Digital
In the early 20th century, some of the first consumer audio visual devices developed were analog in nature. Phonographs/record players allowed people to listen to prerecorded music on vinyl records. Radio broadcasts brought live audio programming to homes through analog AM/FM radio receivers. For visual entertainment, people watched black and white television broadcasts on cathode ray tube (CRT) based televisions. These early AV systems had basic functionality but kickstarted the consumer electronics industry.
Advancement of analog devices:
As technology matured in the mid-20th century, analog AV products became more advanced. Stereo sound was introduced through components like amplifiers, tuners, tape decks. Color televisions with improved picture quality also debuted. VCRs allowed recording and playback of videos on analog magnetic tapes. However, these analog devices were bulky, had compatibility issues, and video/audio quality was limited by the analog format.
Transition to digital era:
The true evolution began in the 1980s with the advent of digital technologies. Compact discs (CDs) provided scratch-resistant digital audio storage that was superior to vinyl records or tapes in terms of clarity and portability. Digital video disc (DVD) technology emerged in the late 1990s, replacing VHS tapes with higher resolution video on optical discs. Early digital devices delivered better quality but maintaining separate components was cumbersome.
Rise of converged devices
To address this issue, manufacturers started developing converged devices that combined multiple functions. Some key developments in this era included:
Home Theater Systems: Allowed controlling AV components like DVD/Blu-ray players, receivers, and speakers through a single remote. Early examples include Sony's DVD home theater systems.
Digital Media Receivers: Combined digital radio tuner, CD/DVD player, and amplifier capabilities in a single unit like Yamaha's high-end receivers.
All-In-One Systems: Pioneered by companies like LG, these brought together television and home audio/video into a single flat panel TV.
Miniaturization and Portability
Continued advances in microchip technology allowed shrinking device sizes while increasing capabilities. Key products delivering portability included:
MP3 Players: Launched by Creative and Apple, these allowed carrying entire digital music libraries on a small portable device.
Smartphones: When Apple debuted the original iPhone in 2007, it changed the face of mobile multimedia forever by combining internet, cameras, apps and more.
Portable Media Players: Devices like iPod Touch, Zune integrated AV playback with touchscreens and apps. Some even played video files.
Ubiquitous Connected Devices
In the 2010s, the internet and wireless connectivity have transformed AV systems forever:
Smart TVs: Deliver internet content, app-based media access and integrated streaming applications seamlessly on televisions.
Streaming Sticks/Boxes: Devices like Roku, Fire TV and Chromecast enable streaming media content on any display via WiFi or ethernet.
Wireless Speakers: Products from Sonos, Bose, UE deliver multiroom audio via WiFi without wired hassles. Some have built-in microphones for voice assistants.
In-Car Infotainment: Automakers provide touchscreen multimedia systems integrated with smartphone connectivity.
The Future of AV Technology
Emerging technologies promise to take AV experiences to new heights through innovative form factors and features. Some expected next big leaps include:
8K Ultra High Definition: Providing over 33 million pixels, 8K is poised to become the new resolution standard for larger displays.
Foldable/Rollable Screens: Flexible display technologies from companies like LG and TCL could spawn whole new form factors.
Virtual/Augmented Reality: VR and AR headsets will deliver immersive visual and audio experiences in gaming, entertainment and more.
Artificial Intelligence: AI-based solutions are enhancing user experiences through intelligent recommendations, virtual assistants and more.
Wireless Everything: Faster wireless technologies like WiFi 6/6E and 5G will wirelessly connect an entire smart home with minimal latency.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the audio visual industry has seen tremendous growth and evolution from the early analog age to present day digital technologies. Continued improvements in areas like display technologies, processing power, connectivity standards and software will likely propel AV systems into a cutting-edge future of new form factors, applications and immersive experiences. The transition from analog to digital has unleashed endless possibilities for innovation through ongoing technology convergence.

Augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) found their way into smart home setups, offering users the ability to transform their living rooms into virtual worlds. Smart TVs with 8K resolution, OLED technology, and AI-enhanced image processing promised an unparalleled viewing experience, while voice-controlled sound systems further elevated the audio experience.
The 2023 Consumer Electronics Show unveiled a new era of possibilities for smart homes, showcasing technologies that not only enhance convenience and efficiency but also contribute to a more sustainable and secure living environment. The integration of artificial intelligence, the development of interconnected ecosystems, and a renewed focus on sustainability marked significant strides in the evolution of smart home technology. As these innovations become more accessible to consumers, the vision of fully automated, interconnected homes inches closer to reality, promising a future where our living spaces are not just smart but truly intelligent.

SONY XR-X90L REVIEW IN BRIEF
Sony's XR-X90L, a mid-range offering for 2023, presents itself in various sizes from 55 to 98 inches. It boasts a standard LED backlight with local dimming and leverages Sony's top-tier Cognitive Processor XR coupled with Clear Image XR technology for picture enhancement and upscaling. In line with the industry's best, the X90L employs Google TV as its smart platform, granting access to a vast array of streaming services. It's compatible with Google Assistant, Alexa, and Apple Home, allowing for comprehensive smart home integration. Voice commands are easily accessible either hands-free or via the remote control. Unique to Sony is Bravia Core, which streams movies from Sony Pictures at near-physical media quality. Image quality sees a notable improvement over its predecessor, the X90K, particularly with elevated brightness and more effective local dimming—advancements that greatly benefit HDR content by adding depth to highlights and shadows. HD content is well-upscaled, while 4K content is rendered with exceptional detail. The X90L's sound system is basic yet efficient, with side tweeters complementing its main bottom-mounted speakers. It also offers an Acoustic Center Sync for integration with Sony soundbars, enhancing the center channel audio output. The design is sleek, pairing a slender panel with a minimal bezel. The adaptable support feet can be adjusted to make room for a soundbar or to allow the TV to sit flush on a stand. For gamers, the X90L includes 4K 120Hz, VRR, ALLM, and Dolby Vision gaming support, and it's optimized for PlayStation 5 through auto HDR tone mapping and an Auto Genre picture mode. New for 2023 is Sony’s Game Menu for seamless gaming setup changes, and it includes two HDMI 2.1 ports for next-gen console connectivity. In the US, the TV is future-ready, featuring an ATSC 3.0 tuner for next-generation digital broadcasts. With its price recently reduced (except for the 98-inch model), the X90L's value proposition is impressive. While one might consider a budget mini-LED TV like the Hisense U8K for its peak brightness, Sony's model distinguishes itself through its polished performance and feature set within its price segment.
SONY X90L REVIEW: DESIGN
- Streamlined Profile: The X90L features a slimmer form than the previous model, measuring only 57mm in depth, which contributes to a more elegant and less obtrusive presence in any room setup. - Premium Bezel and Support Structure: This model boasts an aluminum bezel, lending a more sophisticated edge compared to the plastic bezel of the X90K. Its versatile metal feet offer two height options, allowing for a minimal gap between the TV and your stand, or elevated positioning to accommodate a soundbar beneath the screen. - Connectivity Options: Equipped with a quartet of HDMI ports, two of which are the advanced HDMI 2.1 specification supporting high-end audio return channel (eARC) capabilities, the X90L's connectivity suite caters to both current and future entertainment devices. - Additional Outputs and Control Integration: Beyond video, the design includes an optical audio out and an antenna connection for the US-specific ATSC 3.0 tuner, embracing 'NextGen' broadcast standards. The inclusion of IR, RS-232C, and Ethernet ports ensures seamless integration with sophisticated home control ecosystems, while dual USB ports deliver added utility for powered devices. - Intuitive Remote with Direct Access: Sony's remote is straightforward, with dedicated buttons for top streaming platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, as well as unique inclusions like Bravia Core and Crunchyroll for specialized content. The centrally located mic button underscores the remote’s voice command feature, an essential tool for navigation given the challenge of identifying buttons by touch in low-light conditions. In essence, the X90L is a meticulously crafted device that marries sleek design with functional adaptability. Its adjustable support and variety of inputs ensure that it will fit seamlessly into diverse living spaces and entertainment systems, while its user-friendly remote with voice command capability enhances the overall user experience.
SONY X90L REVIEW: FEATURE OVERVIEW
- Advanced LED Backlighting with Local Dimming: The X90L showcases an advanced QLED display, branded as "Triluminos" by Sony, featuring a regular LED backlight system complemented by full-array local dimming. The latest iteration promises a 60% increase in local dimming zones and a 30% boost in brightness over the previous X90K model. - High-End Image Processing: With Sony's proprietary Cognitive Processor XR, as found in their more luxurious models like the Sony A80L, the X90L is equipped to handle Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG HDR formats. - XR Contrast Booster and XR Clear Image: These exclusive Sony technologies aim to amplify brightness and minimize blooming with the LED backlight, while also delivering upscaling to 4K resolution, adaptive noise reduction, and improved clarity without requiring user adjustments in the settings. - Google TV Integration: The X90L adopts Google TV as its smart platform, providing an expansive streaming experience and smart home control. The TV includes hands-free voice control via an onboard microphone, with support for Alexa and Apple HomeKit. - Bravia Core Streaming: Sony offers its Bravia Core service for streaming movies from Sony Pictures at bit rates comparable to physical media, boasting up to 80Mbps and a substantial collection of IMAX Enhanced titles. - Gaming Optimized Connectivity: Gamers can benefit from two HDMI 2.1 inputs on the X90L, enabling 4K at 120Hz, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), with the addition of a Game Menu for rapid access to gaming settings and 4K Dolby Vision gaming support. - Next-Gen Broadcast Ready: For the US market, the TV comes with an ATSC 3.0 tuner, ensuring readiness for the latest over-the-air broadcast standards. This thorough feature set positions the Sony X90L as a versatile TV offering, with significant enhancements in image processing and gaming capabilities, as well as future-proofing for new broadcast technologies.
SONY X90L REVIEW: VISUAL PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT
- Enhanced Brightness Levels: The X90L displays a significant improvement in peak brightness compared to its predecessor, the X90K. The model under review exhibited a peak HDR brightness of 1,225 nits on a 10% white window in Custom picture mode, indicating a substantial enhancement from last year's figure of 964 nits. - Contrast and Brightness Balance: The TV's Movie mode also demonstrated robust brightness, nearly matching Custom mode’s performance. A 100% white screen pattern yielded 645 nits, positioning the X90L close to the brightest OLEDs in peak HDR output and surpassing them in full-screen luminance. - Color Fidelity: Utilizing Portrait Displays' Calman software, the X90L achieved 96.1% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and 71.9% of BT.2020, with commendable Delta E values that reflect its color accuracy for both grayscale and color points. - Perfect Black Levels: Measurements confirmed an absolute black level, providing the set with an "infinite" contrast ratio, beneficial for depth and detail in dark scenes, especially when observed in the ideal Custom picture mode configuration. - Reflectivity and Viewing Angles: Despite the absence of an anti-reflective coating, the X90L managed to resist glare efficiently during everyday use. Although it lacks an explicit wide-angle feature, the TV maintained consistent contrast and color saturation across a 30-degree viewing angle. - Handling of Visual Content: The X90L delivered a vibrant and defined image on the Spears & Munsil Ultra HD Benchmark Blu-ray, with controlled backlight blooming and sharper performance than the X90K. This capability extended to 4K Blu-ray movies, as observed in scenes from "No Time to Die" and "Dune," showcasing its proficiency in motion handling and shadow detail. - Upscaling Excellence: Standard HD content was impressively refined via the TV's XR Clear Image processing, and 4K content, such as "The Bear" streamed on Hulu, revealed meticulous detail and nuanced color gradations, particularly in skin tones and bright costume elements. In summary, the Sony X90L's visual capabilities present a robust argument for its selection, balancing brightness, contrast, and color accuracy effectively, while also addressing common LED TV challenges such as backlight blooming with noteworthy competence. The set's proficiency in upscaling and motion handling, alongside its relatively wide viewing angles, solidify its status as a compelling choice for discerning viewers.
SONY X90L REVIEW: AUDIO PERFORMANCE
- Spatial Sound Enhancement: The X90L's audio is bolstered by sound-positioning tweeters located at the screen's periphery, enhancing the aural link to the visual content and providing a broader sound field, a significant leap from conventional downfiring speaker designs. - Acoustic Center Sync: This technology enables the TV's own speakers to function synergistically as a center channel when paired with certain Sony sound systems, fostering a more cohesive and centralized audio image, particularly beneficial for vocal clarity. - Dialogue Clarity: Among its sound settings, the Dialogue mode stands out, sharpening speech frequencies to ensure every word is heard with precision, which is especially useful for news programs or dialogue-heavy films. - Baseline Audio Quality: While the X90L's soundstage won't rival that of dedicated audio systems, its built-in speakers are competent, offering commendable volume levels and maintaining dialogue intelligibility without distortion at higher volumes. For users seeking an audio experience that matches the high-caliber visuals of the X90L, integrating a premium soundbar—conveniently accommodated by the TV’s adjustable stand—is a recommended upgrade, ensuring a full-bodied sound that complements the television's display prowess.
SONY X90L REVIEW: GAMING PERFORMANCE
- High-Definition Gaming: The X90L is a gamer’s ally, boasting 4K resolution at a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, complemented by VRR and ALLM for a seamless gaming experience. Its compatibility with Dolby Vision enhances visual quality, providing immersive gameplay. - Optimized for PlayStation 5: The set excels with PlayStation 5 consoles, automatically applying HDR tone mapping and adjusting picture settings to the game genre, ensuring optimal performance without the need for manual tweaking. - Limited HDMI 2.1 Ports: A minor limitation is the availability of advanced gaming features, such as 4K 120Hz support, which is restricted to just two of its HDMI ports, with the remaining offering standard HDMI 2.0 capabilities. - Dedicated Game Menu: A 2023 addition, the Game Menu, streamlines access to gaming-centric settings including VRR, blur reduction, and the Black Equalizer, and even presents cursor enhancements for precision in shooter games. - Input Lag: With an input lag of 18.2ms as gauged by a Leo Bodnar input lag tester, the X90L’s responsiveness is modest compared to some contemporaries but still within a range that benefits the gaming experience on most console games. For gamers, the Sony X90L is an attractive option, merging the necessary features for high-performance gaming with the conveniences of a tailored gaming interface, albeit with some concessions in terms of input lag and limited HDMI 2.1 availability.
SONY X90L REVIEW: USER INTERFACE AND SMART FEATURES
- Google TV Experience: The Sony X90L delivers a feature-rich Google TV interface, abundant with applications and personalized recommendations, streamlining your viewing experience when you log in with your Google credentials. This seamless integration extends to showcasing personal memories with Google Photos integration in Ambient Mode. - Voice Command Integration: With hands-free voice control enabled via Google Assistant, the X90L responds to vocal prompts for content search, volume adjustment, and more, enhancing user convenience. Compatibility with Alexa and Apple Home further broadens smart home interactivity. - Live TV Streaming: The inclusion of a Live TV feature offers a grid-like overview of available free, ad-supported streaming channels, expanding content accessibility without additional subscriptions. - User-Centric Quick Settings: A customizable Quick Settings menu is accessible with a single button press on the remote, allowing for immediate access to frequently modified settings like picture and sound adjustments, with the flexibility to declutter the menu as preferred. - Comprehensive Settings Menu: Delve into the extensive settings menu for granular control over the display and audio. The advanced picture settings cater to enthusiasts seeking to fine-tune local dimming, peak luminance, gamma, and white balance, ensuring a tailored viewing experience. In essence, the Sony X90L marries the convenience of smart TV capabilities with the complexity of advanced settings, offering both novices and aficionados a satisfying and customizable entertainment hub.
SONY X90L REVIEW: PRICING & RELEASE DATE
- Launched on: June 7, 2023. - Price range: Begins at $1,199 / £1,399 / AU$1,895 for the 55-inch model. - Peaks at $9,999 / £8,999 / AU$10,769 for the expansive 98-inch variant. The X90L is nestled comfortably in the mid-range of Sony's LED TV lineup, situated between the more affordable X77L and the pricier X93L, which boasts a mini-LED backlight for superior brightness and contrast. The series offers an array of sizes, with the 98-inch behemoth marking the pinnacle of Sony’s current large-screen offerings. Here are the starting prices for each model size: - XR-55X90L: $1,199 / £1,399 / AU$1,895 - XR-65X90L: $1,399 / £1,699 / AU$2,395 - XR-75X90L: $1,899 / £2,299 / AU$2,995 - XR-85X90L: $2,499 / £2,999 / AU$3,995 - XR-98X90L: $9,999 / £8,999 / AU$10,769 Since its spring 2023 release, there's been a price reduction, particularly noted in the 65-inch model we evaluated, now listed at $1,099 in the US and £1,499 in the UK. Anticipated seasonal discounts may lower these prices further, though as of yet, such reductions haven't extended to the 98-inch flagship.
SONY X90L REVIEW: COST-EFFECTIVENESS
- Affordable Alternative to High-End Models: The Sony X90L is a financially savvy option, especially when compared to Sony's upscale X93L mini-LED model. Its current price tag presents significant savings without a drastic sacrifice in quality. - Competitive Market Pricing: The market offers a variety of budget-friendly mini-LED TVs, such as those from TCL and Hisense, around the same price point. Yet, the X90L holds its ground with its robust features and reliable performance. - Strong Position Against Rivals: Priced at $1,099, the X90L contends fiercely with similar-sized offerings from leading brands, providing a compelling choice for consumers seeking a balance between cost and high-end features. - Value Grows in Larger Sizes: In the realm of larger screens, the competition intensifies. The 98-inch Sony X90L competes with the likes of Hisense’s 100-inch model, which has an attractive price tag, escalating the value debate in the supersized TV category. - Ideal Pick in the US Market: For American buyers, the X90L at 65 inches is a lucrative deal, combining Sony's quality with a middle-ground price. With potential Black Friday deals, its appeal could increase even further. - Different Scenario in the UK: UK consumers face a different landscape, where the X90L's value is challenged by rivals like the LG C3 OLED and Samsung's QN90C mini-LED, especially at the 55-inch size where prices level with some OLED options. In conclusion, the Sony X90L shines as a value proposition in the US, melding a comprehensive suite of features with a competitive price. However, the value may vary in international markets like the UK, where alternative options might offer more for the same cost. EVALUATING THE SONY X90L TV Over approximately 15 hours, I meticulously tested the Sony X90L, starting with an initial period dedicated to casual viewing. This helps both to let the TV "settle in" and to evaluate its default picture settings. Following this, I identify and select the picture preset that appears most accurate—often named Filmmaker, Movie, or Cinema mode. Using the industry-standard Calman color calibration software from Portrait Displays, I then carry out precise measurements. These include assessing white balance (grayscale), gamma, and color accuracy against standard color points. The process generates Delta-E values, which quantify the variance between the original source pattern and the TV's display, giving an insight into the unit’s color fidelity. In addition to these color accuracy tests, I gauge the TV's peak brightness in nits, for both standard dynamic range (SDR) and high dynamic range (HDR) content, employing 10% and 100% white window test patterns. I also evaluate the coverage of the DCI-P3 and BT.2020 color spaces, critical for how well the TV reproduces the rich color gamut found in ultra high-definition content. For calibration, the Calman ISF workflow is instrumental, allowing me to fine-tune the TV using its advanced picture settings for optimal SDR and HDR image quality. Post-calibration, I conduct a viewing analysis with an array of reference scenes from my collection of 4K Blu-ray discs—acquired over years of scrutinizing TVs and projectors. Additionally, I stream Dolby Vision-encoded content from platforms like Netflix and HBO Max to examine how the X90L handles the latest streaming quality. Is the Sony X90L worth it? Check the batteries of the remote control: Replace the batteries of the remote control with a new pair of batteries in case of TV does not respond to the remote control.
Check the connectivity: Ensure the TV is connected to external devices like cable, satellite box or DVD player. Also check all cables (power, HDMI, etc.) are properly securely connected to the TV.
Check different inputs: Switch to a different input (e.g., HDMI 2 instead of HDMI 1) if one input is not working.
Display settings adjustment: If the picture quality is poor or distorted, Open the TV's settings menu and adjust features like brightness, contrast, and colour in case of poor quality picture and display.
TV's firmware: In case of software-related issues, update the TV's firmware by following the instructions provided on the Manufacturer’s website for the particular TV model.
Video not matching audio: If the audio is not in sync with the picture then, go into your television or cable box’s audio settings and adjust the “audio delay”. This will ensure the sync of the audio and video.

Repair service agencies should provide a warranty for the repair work done. It ensures customer satisfaction.
Request the cost estimate for a particular repair service from different service agencies and then compare the prices. The cost might change from brand to brand.
Check the online customer reviews for the repair service agencies. Also ask friends, and neighbours for a verbal review. Good reviews and reputation help in making the decision easily to choose a particular repair agency.
LED TV is a widely used appliance in almost every household. Sometimes LED TV doesn't function properly due to some technical issues or some damage. You will always want your TV to get repaired quickly. 3 TV Solutions You Probably Haven't Heard of for Your Living Room!
Introduction
In today's fast-paced world, where technology continues to evolve, finding the perfect TV solution for your living room can be a challenging task. With so many options available, it's crucial to stay informed about the latest advancements in the industry. Look no further! This comprehensive article will introduce you to three innovative TV solutions that you may not have heard of before. From cutting-edge features to enhanced viewing experiences, these options are designed to revolutionize your living room entertainment. Also, discover how Indian Renters can be the ultimate solution for all your TV needs on rent!
Factors to Consider: Selecting the Right TV Size
Choosing the right TV size for your living room depends on several factors, including the room's dimensions, seating arrangement, and personal preferences. Here are some key considerations to keep in mind:
1. Room Size and Viewing Distance
One of the crucial factors to consider is the size of your living room and the distance between the TV and the seating area. As a general rule of thumb, the TV screen size should be proportional to the viewing distance. For example, for a smaller room with a viewing distance of around 4 to 6 feet, a 40 to 55-inch TV would be suitable. On the other hand, for larger rooms with a viewing distance of 8 to 10 feet or more, a 65 to 75-inch TV or even larger would provide a more immersive experience.
2. Seating Arrangement
Consider the seating arrangement in your living room. Ensure that everyone in the room has a comfortable viewing experience without straining their eyes or neck. If you have a wide seating arrangement, you may want to consider a larger TV size or even multiple TVs strategically placed for optimal viewing angles.
3. Content and Usage
Think about the primary content and usage of your TV. If you mainly watch movies, sports, or play video games, a larger screen size can enhance your experience. However, if you primarily use your TV for casual viewing or as a secondary screen, a smaller size might suffice.
4. Aesthetic Considerations
Lastly, consider the aesthetics of your living room. Ensure that the TV size complements the overall design and doesn't overpower the space.
You can consider options such as wall mounting or choosing a TV with a slim profile to optimize space utilization.
1. The All-In-One Experience: Smart TVs
Gone are the days when a television was just a display for broadcast signals. With the rise of smart home technology, Smart TVs have become increasingly popular among homeowners. FAS3002 - Reading week Project – Researching a brand that I find inspiring.
Tumblr media
Netflix’s vision and purpose is “to create a streaming platform that has the ability to entertain the people of world with best-in-class TV series, documentaries, feature films and mobile games - no matter their taste or what remote corners of the world people live in as long as they have a reliable connected access to the internet”. (Netflix website, unknown date)
Unlike conventional TV, where the viewer has to watch programmes according to a predetermined schedule, Netflix aims to give control to their members so they can choose what they watch, when they watch it, in one simple subscription. As an avid user of the streaming platform, I like the intuitiveness of their app, the diversity of the available programmes, the easiness of the onscreen navigation and the visually pleasing graphical user interface (GUI).
According to the article about the story behind Netflix Ta-Dum sound on the News24 website, “Netflix's sonic logo is now about as TV-iconic as the Fox Searchlights drumroll and trumpets, the MTM cat meowing, the Metro Goldwyn Mayer lion's roar, or HBO's visual logo that has a flickering TV and static white noise turning into a male choir going "Aaaah". (Ferreira, T 2020)
The Netflix brand in recognisable by its GUI and most importantly the reverberating “Ta-Dum” sound when the Netflix sonic logo initially appears on our screens. It’s an iconic feature that acts as a call to you to binge watch some television. The sound is short and recognisable and doesn’t sound like anything else, in the entertainment industry. The animated red N of the logo, zooms in on screen to reveal more detailed layers of stripes, is a very retro feature.

Who are Netflix’s customers and why? –
Tumblr media
According to the short survey I carried out amongst five people, who are subscribers to the streaming platform, the Netflix user value:
Being in control of what we watch.
Being able to access newly available content, especially long drama series that a tells a long inviting story and grips the attention of the viewer.
Low subscription cost.
High quality visuals and sound.
A platform with zero advertisements.
The Netflix Price Plan is as shown in the image below which was screenshotted from their UK website. The prices listed are varied to accommodate the different levels of customer budgets, family size, and their usage needs for the streaming platform.

Netflix Products –
Netflix provide a wide variety of award-winning TV shows, anime, documentaries, drama series, children programs, etc…
Tumblr media
Something you’ll notice from being a member of the Netflix platform is that the company fund a lot of its own film productions which are branded with the red N as “Netflix Originals”- these are programmes that are exclusive to the platform. When looking closely at the Netflix homepage, the products are archived into categories, allowing the users to easily navigate and find the programmes for which they are searching.
Tumblr media
Where are they sold and how do we access the platform?
Today, the internet has become ubiquitous and is a norm in our everyday lives. As individuals, we like results to happen now, especially of we have to pay for a service. Like most people, I consume content via my smartphone mostly while I’m on the go and via my smart TV which is connected to the internet whilst I’m at home as this provides a bigger, easier-to-view screen.
As a streaming platform, Netflix recognise this pattern resides or exists on most people who consume the content they produce, so the company has made its service available on all smart devices such as – TV, smartphones, tablets, laptops etc… as shown in the images below.
Tumblr media
Place, Promotion and Packaging.
“We’re streaming in more than 30 languages and 190 countries, because great stories can come from anywhere and be loved everywhere. We are the world’s biggest fans of entertainment, and we’re always looking to help you find your next favourite story. (Netflix website, unknown date)
Before I became a Netflix member, I got the information via word-of-mouth. I heard reviews from friends about how cheap the service is and the amazing quality programmes the platform provides. I particularly liked the idea of zero adverts, the control of watching what I like when I like and the wide variety of programmes that are available, which are also culturally diverse. Soon after, I started noticing the Netflix adverts on YouTube and on Instagram. After signing up and now a long-term member, I don’t notice the Netflix promotions on other platforms as much because normally Netflix will send emails tailored specifically for me, based on my user experience and archive programme suggestions for me on my Netflix Homepage. It is like once you’re in the Netflix system, their promotion is shown in a way that makes me as a viewer feels as if their algorithm has tailored everything specifically for me and my taste.
Netflix is an online streaming platform so as a customer, everything is delivered to me in an online format. Netflix provides a DVD by mail service, where they ship DVDs out to customers, in red paper envelopes, but this service will be discontinued on September 29, 2023.
Tumblr media
Getting rid of this legacy service will reduce waste and as now most people are online, the company needs to keep looking forward and not get left behind like others in the past, like for example Blockbusters.
Tumblr media
Netflix collaborates with other companies that sell smart devices, other discount promotional companies and newspapers to promote and draw in customers for both parties. On Instagram, Netflix also promotes their archive of newly available content and what they consider as their hot picks to watch now.  The images below, shows a few of the myriad places where I found Netflix to be advertising online.
