Evenin’ ladies!
Once again, no fluffy bunnies, butterflies or unicorns fartin’ rainbows!
This fic had the hairs on my arms standin’ straight up from the first chapter to the end, although for two very separate reasons: 1) heart attack inducin’ angst and 2) a sexy beast of an Edward who won’t stop until he’s claimed his mate! HOT HOT HOT!!!

Mary Frances Greene Lovette, age 75, of Millers Creek, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at her home. Mary was born November 15, 1944 in Wilkes County to Coolidge Edmond and Ella Mae Staley Greene. She attended Old Fashion Baptist Church. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.C. Lovette; daughter, Mary Darlene Lovette; grandson, Jacob Ellis.
Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Combs of Millers Creek; grandchildren, Alicia Ellis, Floyd Combs both of Millers Creek, Lindsey Combs of Raleigh; brother, Archie Greene and spouse Celia of Cricket; sisters, Edna McGuire and spouse Floyd of Wilkesboro, Nancy Harless and spouse John, Kathy Huffman and spouse Brent all of Millers Creek; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22,  at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Max Combs officiating. Burial will follow in Arbor Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 12:00 until 1:00 on Wednesday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Maxine Davidson Winstead, age 93 of Wilkesboro, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist -Wilkes Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 22,   at First United Methodist Church of North Wilkesboro with Dr. Tim Roberts and Mr. Jim Swofford officiating. Entombment will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 prior to the service in the Faith Center of First United Methodist Church of North Wilkesboro.
Mrs. Winstead was born February 9, 1926 in Randolph County to Causey J. Davidson and wife Jessie Lewallen Davidson. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church of North Wilkesboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; W.E. (Willie) Winstead and her five sisters and brothers.
She is survived by two daughters; Pam Lenderman and husband Keith of Wilkesboro and Sue Teague and husband Jeff of Wilkesboro, two grandchildren; Kelly Lenderman  Plumley and husband, John Ryan Plumley of Mt. Holly, NJ, and Meredith Pennington Wingler and husband Dustin Wingler of Wilmington, NC and two great granddaughters; Drew Willa Plumley and Emma Lilly Plumley. A special friend and sister in law; Doris Davidson of Randleman and several nieces.
Special Thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice, Rose Glen Village and Wilkes Senior Village Traditional Living for the love and care they showed her.

David  Gambill,  76

David Paul Gambill, age 76, of Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center-Wilkes Regional. Mr. Gambill was born June 6, 1943 in Wilkes County to Buel "Buck" and Paulene Bumgarner Gambill. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; numerous aunts and uncles.
Surviving are his son, Sherman Buel Gambill and spouse Jessica of Cary; grandson, Camron Gambill of Cary; half-brother, Jerome Gambill and spouse Jennifer of Elkin; aunt, Carol Shirley Triplett of Wilkesboro; uncles, Robert Gambill and Russell Gambill of North Wilkesboro; nieces, Grace Elizabeth and Lily Hope Gambill; and multiple cousins throughout Wilkes, surrounding counties and other states.
Mr. Gambill enlisted in the United States Navy and completed boot camp at Great Lakes Naval Base where he looked forward to serving his country before receiving an honorable medical discharge.
Throughout his life, Mr. Gambill worked in several careers alongside his father and uncles at Gambill Brother's Construction Company, in grading, building and concrete finishing before also working at Hobe's Ham. He retired from Abitibi-Price and later returned to part-time work at Lowes Foods.
Mr. Gambill enjoyed being with family and friends, Sunday dinners at both of his grandparent's houses, reading, history, astronomy, science fiction, westerns, classic movies, classic cars and NASCAR. He was a strong advocate of caring for those in need and for rescuing and loving animals.
Graveside service was January 20, at Mountlawn Memorial Park, with the Rev. David Sparks officiating. Pallbearers were Jerome Gambill, Chad Gambill, Steve Johnson, James Elledge, Tony Durham and David Ledford. The family would like to thank the following group of professionals who gave great care and respect to Mr. Gambill; Dr. Tomas Vybiral and staff at Blue Ridge Cardiology, attending physicians and staff at Hugh Chatham Hospital, attending physicians and staff at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center, Dr. Harsh Barot and staff at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center-Wilkes Regional, Mountain Valley Hospice, and numerous other caregivers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Wilkes, PO Box 306,  North Wilkesboro, NC 28659 or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Annette Battle, PO Box 9, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659. Ethel Elizabeth Owens, age 99, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 at Wilkes Senior Village. Mrs. Owens was born September 1, 1920 in Wilkes County to Everette and Polly Garris. Ethel loved cooking and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John P. Owens; daughter, Betty Brock; son, Raymond Owens; grandchild, Phillip Richard Owens; and great grandchild, Kendra Cothren.
Surviving are her sons, Everette Owens, Sr., Phillip Owens and spouse Willa, Roy Owens all of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Tim Brock and spouse Sherry of Mulberry, Ravonda Pruitt and spouse Jerry of Traphill, Johnny Owens of North Wilkesboro, Everette Owens, Jr. and spouse Anna of Kings Mtn., Gina Holloway and spouse Frankie of Mtn. View, Dina Gibson of Charleston, South Carolina, Cindy Owens and spouse William Garrett of Moravian Falls; numerous great grandchildren; and numerous great great grandchildren.
Funeral service was January 20,   at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Gilreath officiating. Burial followed in Mountlawn Memorial Park. T Flowers will be accepted. Mrs. Eva Jean Chambers Richardson, 87 of Traphill, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at her home.
Eva was born on July 18, 1932 in Wilkes County to Sherman Rosco Chambers and Myrtle Octavia Welborn Chambers.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harrold, Lee, Dwight, Bill Chambers; sisters, Pat Chambers, Edmie Joyner.
Eva is survived by her husband Rev. Jackie Richardson of the home; sons, Michael Richardson (Donna) of North Wilkesboro, Tim Richardson (Renee) of Hays, Jamie Richardson of Traphill; daughters, Debbie Asbell (Allan) of Kernersville, Tina Boles (Lee) of Texas, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.  
The Family  conducted a Celebration of Life Service  January 19, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.  
Brother Tracy Nichols and Rev. Brady Hayworth officiated.

Mr. Richard" Larry" Anderson, age 74 of Roaring River, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 at his home.
Memorial service wasJanuary 18th,  at Briar Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Wesley Mosteller and Pastor Scott Bishop officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Anderson was born March 12, 1945 in Wilkes County to Robert "Jack" Lucis Anderson and Ella Mae Blackburn Anderson. He retired from Stroh's Brewery and Tyson Foods as a Chicken Farmer. Larry was an avid golfer and a good friend to all. Mr. Anderson was a member of Briar Creek Baptist Church
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter in law; Michelle Shew Anderson.
He is survived by his wife; Kay Rist Anderson of the home, two daughters; Kimberly A. Weatherman and husband Bryan of Jonesville and Lisa A. Douglas of Elkin, three sons; Richie Anderson of Roaring River, Paul Layne of Raleigh and Aaron Layne of Wake Forest, ten grandchildren; Megan Crosswhite and husband Matt, Lakyn Stewart, Halle Day, Bailey Martin and husband Eddie, Anna Anderson, Tia Sparks, Cassidy Layne, Alex Layne, Olivia Layne and Parker Layne, five great grandchildren, Trenton Sparks, Ansley Crosswhite, Grayson Crosswhite, Waylon Martin and Ellison Crosswhite and a brother; Russell Anderson of Roaring River.

Mrs. Maggie Bumgarner Combs, age 71 of Wilkesboro passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Accordius Health at Wilkesboro.
Funeral services  were January 18,  at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Millers Creek with Rev. Keith Lyons officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Combs was born September 21, 1948 in Ashe County to Thomas Franklin Rogers and Maudie Jane Huffman Rogers.  She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She loved attending church, loved her family and the Staff of Accordius Health.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter; Gwendlon Bumgarner, a great grandson; Joshua Foster, Jr., two sisters; Maudie Sue Dillard and Mary Ruth Hart and one brother; John Franklin Rogers.
She is survived by two daughters; Melissa Sheeler and husband David, Crystal Call and husband Marty all of North Wilkesboro, two sons; Charles Bumgarner and wife Karen and Chris Bumgarner all of Hays, seven grandchildren, Theresa Mooney, Devin Sheeler, Jared Sheeler, Seth Call, Billie Jean Bumgarner, Edgar Silva, Greta Silva, four great grandchildren; Kamron Foster, Michael Walker, Jr., Grayson Walker and Levy Sheeler and one sister; Connie Hart of Purlear.

Mr. Edgar Lester (Bucky) Beshears, Jr. age 73 of Winston Salem, formerly of Wilkes County passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2020.
Graveside services were January 19, at Yellow Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Penley officiating.  
Mr. Beshears was born December 12, 1946 in Wilkes County to Edgar Lester Beshears, Sr. and Katherine Holland Beshears. He was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother; Stephen George Beshears.
Mr. Beshears is survived by two sisters; Jennifer B. Osborne and husband; Brown of Moravian Falls, Susan B. Odom and husband Terry of Greensboro, a sister in law; Kim Beshears of Hays, two brothers; Ben H. Beshears and wife Ethel of Purlear and Bobby Kenneth White of Wilkesboro and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted.
 Jackie Broyhill, 65

Mrs. Jackie Sue Summerlin Broyhill, 65, of Millers Creek, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at her home.
Jackie was born on April 5, 1954 in Wilkes County to James Edward "Ed" Summerlin Sr and Georgie Pearl "Bobbie" Lovette.  
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Tonya "Sunshine" Walsh; sister, Judy Johnson and grandson Jayln Walsh.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Randy Broyhill; son, Shawn Walsh of Wilkesboro; daughter, Tammy Walsh of Wilkesboro; brothers, James E. Summerlin jr, David Allen Summerlin (Kim); 3 grandchildren, Justin Walsh (Asia Castilleja), Harleigh Walsh, Baileigh Walsh all of Millers Creek and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was January 18, 2020 at West End Baptist Church. The funeral service was  at 1 p.m.  Burial followed at Mountlawn Memorial Park in Wilkesboro.  
Rev. Brian Miller and Pastor Matt Jones  officiated.

  Conrad McNeil, 88

Mr. Conrad Leon McNeil, age 88 of Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville.
Funeral services were January 18,   at Lewis Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Dwayne Andrews, Rev. Sherrill Wellborn and Pastor Ronnie Ellis officiated. Burial with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 was in the church cemetery.  
Mr. McNeil was born January 5, 1932 in Wilkes County to Arthur H. and Bessie Virginia Shepherd McNeil.  He was a member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Maria Del Consuelo Perales McNeil, three sons; Michael, Arthur and Gary McNeil, three sisters; Irene
Robertson, Hellen Blackburn and Clara Faye Ellis and five brothers; Ralph, Arvil, Tyre and an infant brother Claude McNeil and Roy Shepherd.
He is survived by four grandchildren; April, Justin, Carrena and Shane McNeil and two great grandchildren; Kaden and Kinsleigh Hackett.

  Tom Alexander, 92

Thomas Finley "Tom" Alexander, 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at his residence on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.
Born in Wilkes County on April 14, 1927, he was the son of the late John H. Alexander and Ella Ballou Alexander.
Tom was a WWII veteran who served in the United States Navy. He retired from driving trucks local and long distance.  He traveled in 49 different states. He loved people. He had a warm and friendly personality. Tom never met a stranger. He was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Waynesville.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Peggy Duncan Alexander; one daughter, Melissa Jones (Jay); three grandchildren, Annette Doom (Robb), Jennifer Taylor (Phillip), Jonathan Jones, and four great grandchildren.
Thank you to Pastor Barry Willett and our church family at Grandview Baptist Church for all the expressions of love through prayers, calls, visits and cards.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Scenic Memorial Gardens in Moravian Falls, North Carolina.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Haywood Hospice, 43 Bowman Drive, Waynesville, NC  28785. We want to say a special Thank You to nurse Stephanie Jones. Every member of the Hospice team has been very gracious, kind and helpful.

 Ellen Kay Lankford, age 57

Miss Ellen Kay Lankford, age 57 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service was held 2 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020, at Arbor Grove United Methodist Church on Arbor Grove Church Road in Purlear, with Rev. Dr. Susan Pillsbury Taylor officiating.
Speakers were Mr. Ken Welborn, Mr. Larry Griffin and Mrs. Janet Lael Wood. The family received friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall of the church.
Greeters during the service were Heather Dean and Allison Ivey.
Miss Lankford was born August 1, 1962, in Wilkes County to Samuel Hayden and Willa Mae McNeil Lankford. She was a laboratory scientist with Guilford County Health Department and was a member of Arbor Grove United Methodist Church.
Ellen always excelled in school. She attended Millers Creek Elementary and West Wilkes High schools. During her senior year, she transferred to Wilkes Central High  School to take advanced classes, which allowed her to enter college as a sophomore. She went to Appalachian State University in Boone where she earned her bachelors degree in biology. She continued her education at Wake Forest Baptist Medical School and Appalachian State University, going on to earn her masters degree in biology.
During high school she worked for Winn-Dixie grocery store in North Wilkesboro and later for Blue Ridge Opportunity Commission under the late Betty Baker. After completing her college education, she worked at Davie County Memorial Hospital in Mocksville. Later, she went to work for the Guilford County Health Department as a laboratory scientist. She also worked part-time at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro in the same capacity.
She lived in Greensboro during most of her working career. She retired from the Guilford County Health Department. Ellen moved back home to Wilkes in August 2015.
Ellen had no children, but rather looked at her brothers, Mike and Jerry's, children as her own. Later, when Jerry's grandchildren arrived, she acted as a grandmother to those children as well. In return, they all loved her dearly.
Although she had many hobbies and interests - mostly dealing with more intellectual endeavors - her main passion and love was for her family, whom she treated wonderfully.
Ellen was also an accomplished pianist and vocalist. She could also play the dulcimer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Gary Steven Lankford and Michael Grayden Lankford.
Ellen is survived by a brother; Jerry Alfred Lankford of Millers Creek, five nieces; Eva May Lankford and fiancé Robert Carlton of Millers Creek, Heather Renee Greene and husband Joven of Wilkesboro, Jennifer Osborne and husband Edwin of Millers Creek, Anna Lankford and husband Josh Church of Millers Creek and Gabriella Lankford of Hamptonville and two great nephews; Sammie Osborne and Charlie Church. Ellen is also survived by her two dearest friends: Janet Lael Wood of Wilkesboro, and Lisa Church of Millers Creek.
There are also four special people Ellen claimed as family. They are Destiny, Cassidy and Samantha Toliver - whom she considered nieces - and their father, Ken Toliver, all of Wilkes. They are the children and husband of Ellen's dear friend, the late Carmel Toliver.
Special music was provided by Gabriella Lankford, Destiny Toliver, Larry Griffin and Rev. Dr. Susan Pillsbury Taylor.

Stephen Morris Coulter, age 78, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born January 15, 1941 in Catawba County to Ray and Mozelle Smith Coulter. Mr. Coulter attended the Lutheran Church of the Atonement. He worked many years for Vannoy Lankford Plumbing and four years at the Ebenezer's Attic. Mr. Coulter was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard Coulter.
Surviving are his wife, Gwynda Bussell Coulter; brother, Gary Coulter and spouse Pam of Newton; one niece and several nephews.

Lee Edward Kilby, age 52, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Monday, January 13, 2020 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Lee was born June 26, 1967 in Wilkes County to Nonnie Edward "Eddie" Kilby and Delores Mae Shumate. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle; doing toy runs with the Hillbillies; and loving his dog Oppie. Mr. Kilby was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bern and Violet Shumate, Gather and Ella Kilby and his wife, Beatrice Kilby.
Surviving are his son, Joshua Lee Kilby of North Wilkesboro; brother, Blake Edward Kilby of North Wilkesboro; mother, Delores Trivette and Fred Wagoner of North Wilkesboro; father, Eddie Kilby and Renee Mendenhall of Dobson; his best canine friend, Oppie; and large extended family.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tommy Mikeal, Rev. Keith Honeycutt and Rev. Dean Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Crossroads Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 1:30 until 3:00 on Sunday, prior to the service. Mrs. Mollie Wilkins Handy, age 94 widow of Rex Handy passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Wilkes Senior Village.
           No services will be held at this time.  A private family burial will be held at a later date at Mountlawn Memorial Park.
           Mrs. Handy was born June 18, 1924 in Yadkin County to William S. and Dinah Talley Wilkens.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro.
           In addition to her parents and husband; Rex Handy, she was preceded in death by a sister; Victoria Wilkins Wendland, two brothers; William Wilkins and John Wilkins,step-son; Gene Handy and nephew; Warren Shore.
           She is survived by a niece; Lillian Shore Gambill, step-son; Larry Handy, step-grandson; Michael Handy, great nephew; Charles Gambill and great niece; Lisa Forehand.
           In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Mrs. Edna Neal Barber, age 94 widow of Malcolm Julius Barber of Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Curis at Wilkesboro.
           Funeral services were held  July 24, at Rickard's Chapel AME Zion Church with Rev. Richard Watts officiating.  Burial will be in Rickard's Chapel Cemetery.  
           Mrs. Barber was born June 12, 1924 in Catawba County to Hartie and Lara Jolly Neal.  She was a member of Rickard's Chapel AME Zion Church.  She was a member of the Rickard's Chapel Missionary Senior Choir, Missionary Society and Mother of the Church.
           In addition to her parents and husband; Malcolm Julius Barber, she was preceded in death by six sisters; Eva Whicker, Ida Shuford, Cora Wilborn, Carolyn Barber, Mary Harris, Rebecca Wilborn and five brothers; Edward Neal, Jim Wilborn, Bill Wilborn, Henry Wilborn and Ike Wilborn.  
           She is survived by two daughters; Angela Adams and husband Charles of Ellenwood, GA, Joyce Shelton and husband Gary of Sacramento, CA, five sons; Julius Barber and wife Susie, Floyd Barber and wife Katie, Marvin F. Barber and wife Jacquelynn, Malcolm C. Donald Beamon, 62
Mr. Donald Wayne Beamon, age 62 of North Wilkesboro passed away Friday, July 20, 2018 at his home.
           Funeral services will be held  July 25, at Cub Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Sampson and Rev. Scotty Roten officiating.  Burial with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 5:30 PM prior to the service at the church.    
           Mr. Beamon was born February 15, 1956 in Forsyth County to Donald Royce and Ruby Mae Burchette Beaman. He serviced in the United States Navy.
           He was preceded in death by his parents and brother; Thomas Winford Beaman.
           He is survived by two sons; Martin Wayne Beamon, Jacob Nathaniel Beamon both of Wilkesboro, Jamie Ashley Beamon; mother of his children of Wilkesboro, sister; Margaret (Sue) Rhoades and husband Tommy of North Wilkesboro, two brothers; Robert Beaman and wife Natalie of North Wilkesboro, Jimmy Beaman and wife Tammy of Roaring River, and step-father; James LeFevers.and step-brother; James Daniel Lefevers and wife Julie of Crumpler.

Andrew  Kilby, 92

Andrew Lomax Kilby, Sr. (Bud) passed away July 18, 2018 at the age of 92. He was born January 13, 1926 to Andrew Franklin Kilby and Grace Lomax Kilby. Mr. Kilby was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Betty Summers Kilby, and his sister, Grace Frank Mayberry.
           Mr. Kilby is survived by his children: Andrew Lomax Kilby, Jr. (Mary); John Asbury Kilby Sr. (Phyllis); and, Betty Ann Kilby. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Sarah Kilby Munson (Scott); Anne Kilby; Elisha Grace Kilby Jernigan (Justin); John Asbury Kilby, Jr. (Lacey); Jenni Foster Roope; Beau Foster (Katy); and by his great grandchildren: Drew Roope; Grey Roope; Harrison Jernigan; Pierce Jernigan, and Lizzie Foster.
           Mr. Kilby was President of Yadkin Valley Motor Company, North Carolina's oldest Ford dealership established in 1915. He worked there six days a week, arriving by 6:30 AM, until 6 days before his death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro, NC and served as superintendent of the Children's Building there for 20 years. He was also a past member of the Board of Directors of Wilkes General Hospital serving as its Chairman during a major expansion. He was a charter member of Oakwoods Country Club, the North Wilkesboro Elks Club, the Kiwanis Club, and a past member of Ford's Dealer Council.
           He attended Davidson College prior to his voluntary enlistment in the US Army Air Force on December 7, 1943. He proudly served as a bottom-turret and waist gunner on a B24 Liberator bomber during World War II in the 2nd Bomb Squadron of the 22nd Bomb Group of the 5th Air Force. The majority of B24s were made at Ford Motor Company's Willow Run Plant. When the war ended, Mr. Kilby served as part of the US occupation force in Japan.
           After leaving the military service, Mr. Kilby attended college in Bowling  Green, Kentucky. He returned from there in 1948 to work as a partner with his father at Yadkin Valley Motor Company in 1948. He worked at Yadkin Valley his entire life beginning in his early teens.
 A graveside service with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 was held at Mountlawn Memorial   July 20,  with Dr. Bert Young and Rev. Steve Snipes officiating.  
           The family requests no food.
           In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro.

Mr. Brian Everett Curry, age 49 of Moravian Falls passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center following a long battle with Diabetes.
           Funeral services were held    July 20, 2018 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Mitch King officiating.  
           Mr. Curry was born May 29, 1969 in Wilkes County to JoAnn Curry.  
           He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother; Mary V. Kerley.
           He is survived by his wife; Tammy Watcher Daniels, his son; Matthew Brian Curry, and wife Kimberley, mother; JoAnn Curry, three brothers; Paul Curry and wife Shea, Mark Curry and wife Tina, Chad Curry and wife Kaycee and three grandchildren; Lucas Curry, Gaven White and Haiden Jarvis.
           Brian was employed at Tyson Foods for 25 years.  He was a loving father, husband, grandfather and was a Christian. He took great pride in his family and his favorite pastime was riding his Harley on the parkway.

Mrs. Eula Huffman Foster, age 83 widow of Harold Hayes Foster of Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville.
           Funeral services were held July 20,  Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating.  Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.    
           Mrs. Foster was born October 21, 1934 in Wilkes County to Everette Monroe and Matilda Minton Huffman.  She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and was the owner-operator of Foster's Lawn and Garden Center.
           In addition to her parents and husband; Harold Hayes Foster, she was preceded in death by eight sisters; Ina, Vera, Erie, Esther, Veoria, Marge, Etolia and Wyona and four brothers; James, Glenn, Theodore and EM.
           She is survived by three daughters; Sheila Nichols of Winston-Salem, Yvonne Ewing and husband Wayne of Clemmons, Denise McIntyre and husband Jim of Sparta and one son; Harold H. Foster, Jr., of Winston-Salem, nine grandchildren; Gary Hamby, Jr., Sonya Brooks, Thomas Nichols, III, Derek Nichols, Sean Nichols, Crystal Brooks, Shannan Foster, Clarice Foster, Nadine Foster, ten great grandchildren Cade Hamby, Justin Nichols, Jacob Nichols, Rachel Nichols, Dylan Nichols, Kayla Nichols, Ethan Nichols, Zach Nichols, Hannah Nichols, Jared Nichols, Tori Nichols, Connor Lockey and three great great grandchildren; Lily Nichols, Thomas Nichols, IV and Jace Gunn.

Herman "Freeman" Brown, age 64, of Hays, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018 at his home. He was born June 11, 1954 in Wilkes County to Rufus and Emma Wagoner Brown. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Teresa Ann Royal Brown.

Christine Davis Felts, the matriarch of the Felts Family went home to be with the Lord, June 1, 2019 at Westwood Hills Nursing Facility. She was born March 19, 1936 to Luster and Beulah Davis in Lenoir, N.C.
     She went to work at an early age to help her husband make a living. They soon bought a grocery store in Thomasville N.C. and built that business from ground up. Then 52 years ago they moved to Wilkes County with their two daughters and purchased a grocery store in McGrady, N.C. She then helped build that business into a thriving grocery, snack bar and gas business. While they were building this business she managed to keep her family on the road spreading the Gospel in song, while faithfully serving the church and community. She always enjoyed visiting the sick. She never failed to make herself available to help with any needs whether it was food, prayers, visiting or just going in and cleaning a house. Mrs. Felts was preceded in death by her parents.
     Mrs. Felts is survived by her husband of 66 years, J.C. Felts; daughters Cathy Felts Bumgarner and spouse Garey, Vicki Felts Carty and spouse Tim all of North Wilkesboro; six grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother.
     Funeral services were June 4,   at Mountain Valley Baptist Church in McGrady with Rev. Ronnie McManus, Rev. Curtis Herring and Rev. Jason Bumgarner officiating. Burial   followed in Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  Flowers will be accepted.   Memorials may be made to Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Cane Creek Church Road, McGrady, NC 28649 or to Mountain Valley Baptist Church, Cane Creek Church Road, McGrady, NC 28649.  Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.  
     The family would like to express our gratitude to all the family and friends who have visited our wife and mother in the last 4 ½ years at Westwood Hills Nursing Facility. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Westwood Hills for their kind, gentle, loving care of our wife and mother during this difficult time. A special thank you goes out to Sandra Monney for making it possible for us to leave in her loving hands.
     Pallbearers were Tim Carty, Junior Greene, Anthony Minton, Tim Benson, Sterlin Church and Bobby Lovette. Honorary pallbearers will be Garey Bumgarner, Seth Lovette.
  Daniel Wingler, 70

Daniel Richard Wingler, age 70, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Carolina Caring Hospice in Newton. He was born April 22, 1949 in Wilkes County to Richard Filmore and Dorothy Coltrane Wingler. Mr. Wingler was a member of Liberty Grove Baptist Church. He loved antique cars and enjoyed fishing, traveling and motoring. He was preceded in death by his parents.
     Surviving are his wife, Sylvia Adams Wingler; brother, Douglas Wingler and spouse Kathy of North Wilkesboro; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David and Linda Adams of Austin/Traphill.
     Funeral service was June 4,  at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Gilreath officiating. Entombment followed in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family has requested no flowers. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, PO Box 1603, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.

 Dorothy Shealy, 73

Dorothy Louise Anderton Shealy May 28, 1946- June 1, 2019
     Heaven gained a saint as Dottie Shealy, age 73, passed away peacefully in her home in Mulberry, North Carolina on June 1, 2019 surrounded by family. For the past three years she lived with advanced cancer and was a model of dignity, strength and grace during a challenging time.
     Dottie was born in Lewisburg, Tennessee and grew up in Decatur, Alabama, the eldest of four daughters to Margaret Schoonmaker Anderton and Clebie Arnel Anderton. Faith and family were the cornerstones of her life.
     She attended the University of Alabama prior to her marriage to Frank in 1965 and moved to Mulberry, North  Carolina in 1976. She attended Salem College, earning a Master's Degree in Sociology in 1983. Throughout her adult life she served her community by directing the daycare center at Wilkes Community College as well as working for Smart Start and the school district. Dottie volunteered many hours at the Crisis Pregnancy Center and was an active member of Baptist Home Baptist Church.
     Dottie enjoyed an active retirement with many family vacations on adventures like hiking through the Grand Canyon, national parks, beach trips and many Kenyan Safaris. Dottie and Frank served as missionaries in Honduras, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brazil, Russia, Peru, and several extended trips to Kenya, where she touched many hearts and formed lifelong friendships.
     Dottie is survived by Frank Shealy, her loving husband of 54 years; daughter Stacy Shealy Cantrell of Huntsville, AL (Chris), daughter Sandy Shealy Edwards of Birmingham, AL (Alan); son Jeff Shealy of Greensboro, NC (Juliana); daughter Susan Shealy Utting of San Diego, CA (Paul); sister Ginger Shelton of Decatur, AL (Kyle), sister Jeannie Bryan of Fairhope, AL (Ed); sister Faye Willingham of Decatur, AL; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Tolbert and Sherry Snoddy; nieces and nephews, Kyle Shelton Jr., Michael Shelton, Brent Shelton, Craig Bryan, Leslie Bryan, Kenny Willingham, Kerry Willingham, and Kurtis Willingham, Robin Davidson Caine, Lori Pullen, Tracy Snoddy, Danny Snoddy, Kelley Snoddy Ward.
     Dottie had a special relationship with her 9 grandchildren and will live on in the hearts and memories of Jacob Tillman, Justin Tillman, Kayleigh Cantrell, Steven Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Camila Shealy, Marina Shealy, Sophia Utting and Alexandra Utting.
     A home-going celebration was held at Baptist Home Baptist Church on  June 2nd.   There will be a private graveside ceremony at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, Alabama.

Mr. Everette Lyall, "Jr." better known as Junior, age 72 of Millers Creek, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
     Funeral services were June 2,  at Arbor Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Susan Pillsbury-Taylor and Rev. Dr. Ed McKinney officiating.                     Mr. Lyall was born July 18, 1946 in Wilkes County to Everette Lyall, Sr. and Lola Hazel Bauguess Lyall. He was retired as owner of Lyall Harley Davidson and Carolina Cycle Supply and was the former oldest dealer member of the Harley Davidson Dealers Association in N.C. For several years, Junior and his wife Betty owned and operated Cookies n Cream in the Wilkes Mall.  Junior gave greatly to his community working with the American Children's Home and serving as secretary of the Junior Order. He was a member of Arbor Grove United Methodist Church where he was a charter member and officer of the Arbor Grove United Methodist Men, Superintendent of Church School, Church School Teacher and served as the church Finance Committee Chairman, and served on the Building Committee for the new Fellowship Building. Junior spent some time in the classroom teaching at Fairplains Elementary School.  
     He was preceded in death by his parents.
     Mr. Lyall is survived by his wife; Betty Sue Shepherd Lyall of the home, two sons; Dr. Gregory Lyall and wife Mandy of Clemmons and Kevin Lyall of Winston-Salem, a grandchild; Pierce Lyall, a sister; Betty Lou Lyall Miner of Hickory, a brother; Marsh Lyall and wife Pat of North Wilkesboro and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Daniel "Shane" Clonch, 46, of Wilkesboro, passed away on Sunday May 27, 2019.
     Shane was born on Tuesday October 5, 1972 in Caldwell to Roger Lane Laws and Barbara Cecilia Clonch.
     Shane loved his children and enjoyed spending time with his best friend Mark Bare. Shane was also a member of the bands Life Long Hate and Armed for the Fall.
     Shane is preceded in death by his father and step father Roy Bare.
     Shane is survived by his mother, Barabara C. Clonch of Millers Creek, daughters, Sierra Nicole Clonch, Skylah Shay Clonch, Telsa Kay Clonch all of Wilkes County; sons, Zerek Sage Clonch, Danek Shadd Clonch also of Wilkes County; sisters, Leatrice Ann Clonch of Millers Creek; brother Cecil Gordon Bare and wife, Amanda of Purlear.  
     The family conducedt a memorial service on May 30, at The Church of God of Union Assembly in Wilkesboro.
     In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes P.O. Box 396 Morvain Falls, NC 2865 to help with final expenses.  
     Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes has the honor of serving the Clonch Family.
  Gladys Handy

Gladys Grace Shumate Handy of Roaring River, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 26, 2019. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family while they serenaded her with many of her favorite gospel songs and reading of scripture.  She was lovingly cared for by her sons and daughters as her health declined. She was visited daily by friends and extended family members. Psalm 116:15 says "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints".
     Funeral services were May 29,  at Middle Cross Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Whitley, Pastor Donnie Shumate and Pastor Joe Sturgill officiating.   Burial was at Middle Cross Baptist church cemetery.  
     Gladys was born to the late Charles "Charlie" and Mamie Lowe Shumate on May 10, 1928.
     Gladys was the widow of Lonnie Caldwell Handy with whom she was married for 63 years.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters; 11 month old Clara Belle Handy and Peggy (Steven) Knox, a great grandson; Caleb Benfield, two sisters; Mable (Elder Fred) Shumate Dillard and Irene (Rayford) Shumate Handy Crouch and her brothers; Tracy (Faye) Shumate, Paul (Hazel) Shumate, Clay Shumate, Jimmy Shumate and Conard (Louie) Shumate.
     She is survived by her children; Joyce (Bobby) Handy Faw of Hays, Marie (Milton) Handy Jolly of North Wilkesboro, Carl (Tammy) Handy of Roaring River, Mary (James) Handy Minton of Hays, Ray (Deborah) Handy of North Wilkesboro.
     Gladys has fourteen grandchildren; Shelly (Bob) Faw Benfield, Alisa (Chris) Faw, Dawson, Kristina (Monroe) Faw Hawkins, Jeff (Christy) Jolly, Michael (Amanda) Jolly; Wendy McKeenan, Tim (Tara) Handy, Matt (Angel) Handy, Amy (James) Williams; Kurtis (AnnaLisa) Parker, Logan Parker, Robbie (Melissa) Martin, Stacee (Adam) Whitley, and Stephanee Lee, forty-two great-grandchildren and  seven great-great grandchildren making five generations, also several special nieces and nephews.
     Gladys worked in the cafeteria of Roaring River Elementary School and was a homemaker. She had a strong love of family and her faith was extremely important to her.  Her life verse was………"As for me and my house we will serve the Lord" Joshua 24:15, which was also her testimony throughout her life. Going to church was her greatest joy.   She was a charter member of Middle Cross Baptist Church in the Rock Creek community and was also their oldest member. She was faithful to her church as long as her health allowed and would cry on Sundays when she was not able to attend.  She especially loved her Pastor Bro. Jason Whitley and wife Elaine, and her Senior Adult Sunday Class that was taught, for years, by Bro. Earl Alexander and which is now taught by her son Ray Handy. Gladys grew up in the depression years and learned to be frugal at an early age.  She lived a simple and humble life. She liked to use things until they were worn out or rusted out and only then would they be thrown away. She was a skilled seamstress who made items of clothing for all of her children while they were young. She quilted blankets and sewed handmade items for all of her grandchildren.  She was an avid gardener especially loved helping her son Carl with his garden which they were both blessed by sharing with others. She particularly loved roses and hens and diddles. She enjoyed collecting antique glassware, hens on nest and thimbles from around the world. One of her favorite pastimes was chatting on the phone with family and friends and she always did what she could to help others.
     She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, she left a legacy that will last for generations to come; you can say hers was a life well lived.

Geraldine (Gerry) Haynes Elledge, 87, passed away after a long illness on Sunday, May 26, with her loving family by her side.
She was born to Alma Macy Haynes and Hayes Haynes in Jonesville, NC on March 5, 1932. She graduated from Jonesville High School and then Grace Hospital in Morganton, NC, as a registered nurse. She began her forty-one year nursing career at the old Wilkes Hospital and then at the current Wilkes Regional Hospital. She specialized in Labor and Delivery, assisting with the birth and care of thousands of newborns. She often gave the on air "Stork Report," a feature on WKBC radio.
Throughout her life, children of all ages were drawn to her, and she had a unique talent for calming their fears and tears. Many friends, neighbors, and members of her Mountain View Baptist Church family affectionately refer to her as a second mother because of her influence on them as children and adults. She was known for her kindness and for always serving others before herself.
She met her husband, John Sherman Elledge (Jack) on a blind date. The couple married in 1956, lived in North Wilkesboro, and then built a house on Haymeadow  Road in Hays where they have lived since. She was "the best mother in the world" to four children: John (Johnny) Sherman Elledge Jr., Martha Carol Elledge, Elizabeth (Beth) Haynes Elledge Gossett, and Amy Maria Elledge. She was the beloved grandmother of eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Gerry loved to read and passed this love of reading onto her children. She often would read late into the night, when she wasn't staying up late to cook, sew, or prepare for holiday celebrations. She loved to garden and created bouquets from her roses and zinnias. She established and landscaped a memorial garden for her daughter Amy. She was a talented homemaker, known for her love of cooking and baking. Her cookies, cakes, salsa, homemade strawberry jam, ice cream, and spaghetti sauce were favorites of her family, and she baked bread almost every week for decades. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren have fond memories of what they called G-bread. She collected dolls and displayed them in her home. Her nursing class held a reunion every year for over seventy years that she attended and was a highlight of her year. She enjoyed picnics and camping trips on the Blue  Ridge Parkway, trips to The Great Smoky Mountains area, and enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States and to Mexico, especially after her retirement. Over the past twenty years she created scrapbooks for all her children and grandchildren and for special occasions such as her husband Jack's fishing trips. In her final years she was accompanied by her loving and loyal protector, her dog Ace.
She was an active church worker at Mountain  View Baptist Church, and she established a church library and served as the librarian for many years. She quietly gave monthly donations for many years to over ten charities and organizations that helped the poor, and she had a special place in her heart for the homeless and the efforts of Habitat for Humanity. She was a role model of Christian virtue to her children, and her whole life was a lesson in service to others and humble kindness.
Geraldine Haynes Elledge was preceded in death by her parents, Hayes and Alma; a brother, Vess Haynes; and daughter, Amy Maria Elledge.
She is survived by her loving husband, John (Jack) Sherman Elledge Sr.; son, John Sherman Elledge Jr. and daughter-in-law Ellen (Ellie) Koch Elledge; daughters, Martha Carol Elledge, and Elizabeth (Beth) Haynes Elledge Gossett and son-in-law Jason Gossett; sister, Sue Haynes Tharpe; grandchildren, Jacob Gabel, Cody Gabel, Candace Gabel Nelson, Jessie Gabel, Caleb Gossett, Connor Elledge, Tristan Elledge, and Aden Gossett; six great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
The family thanks all the nurses, doctors, and other caregivers over the past year; the employees and volunteers of Hospice; friends, neighbors, church members, and all the thoughts and prayers from churches and co-workers of the family.
A private burial ceremony will be on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Mountlawn Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2:00 pm, at Mountain View Baptist Church in Hays with Rev. Julius Blevins and Rev. Brian Blankenship officiating. A visitation will follow after the service in the church fellowship hall. Ms. Lucy Christine Church Gambill went home to be with Jesus and her two beloved sons, Christopher and Hobert "Craig" Gambill, on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Wilkes Senior Village.
Lucy was born Friday, October 14, 1932 in Wilkes County to the late Doctor Loran Church and Nora Ellen Brown Church.
Lucy was a beautician and retired as a seamstress from Tom Thumb Glove.  She was of the Baptist faith. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing rummy, and cooking. She loved spending time with family and friends.  Lucy was also the first Miss North Wilkesboro High School when she was a teenager.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by: two sons, Christopher Daniel Gambill and Hobert "Craig" Gambill; an infant sister, Inez Church; sister, Elsie Church Adams and her husband, William Grant Adams.
Those left to cherish her memory include:  her daughter, Tina Gambill Blankenship and husband, Paul Travis Blankenship of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
The family would like to give special thanks to our Wilkes Senior Village family and dear friends, Grace Cooper and Linda Hamby for all of your love, support, and care.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Mountlawn Memorial Park, North Wilkesboro. Pastor Paul Siceloff will officiate.

Leo Prevette, age 73, of Roaring River, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 at his home. He was born June 10, 1945 in Wilkes County to Oakery Marcus and Sallie Durham Prevette. Mr. Prevette was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patty Harris Prevette; son, Marcus Prevette; five brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving are his son, Gary Scott Prevette and companion Diane Terry of Yadkinville; daughters, Jeannie Lynn Moore and spouse Tommy of Salisbury, Tina Annette Baker of Winston Salem; sisters, Geraldine Whitaker of Moravian Falls, Jalie Billings of Roaring River; grandchildren, Dustin Taylor Holcomb, Paige Noelle Maltba and spouse Josh, Austin Cody Cahill and spouse Amber all of Roaring River; great grandson, Brantley Ryan-Dean Chastain of Roaring River; numerous nieces and nephews.

  Tommy "Tom" J. Coffey, age 74
Tommy "Tom" J. Coffey, age 74, of Purlear, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 at his home. Tom was born October 22, 1944 in Wilkes County to Joshua "Nick" and Mabel Parsons Coffey. He was a retired truck driver for L&L Machinery and Bassett Walker, driving most of his adult life. He attended Davis Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed watching NASCAR, bee and squirrel hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ruth Coffey; three sisters, Josephine Porter, Hallie Crenshaw, and Grace Coffey; and a brother, Wade Coffey.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Soots Coffey of the home; son, Tommy Junior Coffey and spouse Mary Doris of Millers Creek; two daughters, Susie Adams and spouse Bo of Millers Creek, Brenda Stanley and spouse Barry of North Wilkesboro; two grandchildren; and one great grandson;

Lula Stinson Payne, age 92, of Hays, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Rose Glen Manor. She was born August 17, 1926 in Chatham County to Marvin Durham Stinson and Mary Catherine Benner Stinson. Mrs. Payne was a graduate of Ramseur High School, previously employed with Wilkes Community College and a member of North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church. Lula was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Lawrence Payne; son, Ronald Timothy Payne "Timmy"; grandson, Brandon Christopher Payne; brothers, Henry and John Stinson; sisters, Mary Dean Stinson, Elizabeth Rinehardt, Lillie Nance; and beloved sister-in-law, Katie Petty.

Mr. Rufus Eugene "Gene" Wagoner, 74, of McGrady, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at his residence.
               Rufus was born on Saturday, November 18, 1944 in Wilkes County to Raymond Hobert Wagoner and Bessie Viola Royal Wagoner.
               Rufus is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eula Mae Benge Wagoner; sisters, Margie Wagoner and Geneva Wagoner.
 Rufus is survived by his daughters; Lisa Fox (Jessie) of McGrady, Crystal Pierce (Mark) of Booneville; son, Daniel Wagoner of the home; brothers, Spencer Wagoner (Mae), Marvin Wagoner (Sue), all of Mulberry, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
               A Visitation was April 22,  at Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel. Graveside service followed in Mt. Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, North Wilkesboro with Rev. Junior Harrold   officiating.

Mrs. Rita "Darlene" Prevette Stanley, age 61 of Hays, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at her home.
               Funeral services were April 20, at United Fellowship Church in Booneville,  with Preacher Johnny Arnold and Minister Andrew Hoots officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
               Mrs. Stanley was born September 17, 1957 in Wilkes County to Eugene E. Prevette and Doris L. Bell Prevette. She was a homemaker and a member of United Fellowship Church.
               She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; Archie Lee Stanley.
               Mrs. Stanley is survived by a daughter; Rita Jean Stanley McMahan of Hays, a son; Alan Lee Stanley of Hays, seven grandchildren; Kayla S. McMahan, Emmabele K. Repnyek, Avery L. Stanley, Preston C. Stanley, Abygail S. McMahan, Destiny-Hope N. McMahan, Elisabeth G. Freeland "Hal" Parsons, age 85, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Wilkes Senior Village. He was born April 6, 1934 in Wilkes County to Auburn and Bertha Spears Parsons. Hal was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Millers Creek. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his brothers, Caster Parsons of Huntersville, Jackie Parsons of Millers Creek; sisters, Nadine Anderson and spouse Russell of Winston Salem, Christine Shepherd of Wilkesboro.

Mrs. Vergie Mae Absher Patterson, age 80 of North Wilkesboro, passed away April 17, 2019 at her home.
               Funeral services was April 20,   at Cane Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Rhoades and Rev. Kenny Absher officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.  
               Mrs. Patterson was born January 21, 1939 in Wilkes County to Rom and Hattie Felts Absher. She was retired from American Drew Furniture Company. Mrs. Patterson was a member of Cane Creek Baptist Church.
               In addition to her parents, Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by a great grandson; Austin Smathers, two sisters; Mae Johnson and Mary Adams and six brothers; Olen Absher, Bill Absher, Silas Absher, Robert Absher, Fred Absher and Everette Absher.

Patrick Steve Wyatt, age 64, of Hays, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at his home. He was born March 28, 1955 in Wayne County, Michigan to Alex Wyatt, Jr. and Ruby Johnson Wyatt. Mr. Wyatt enjoyed fishing, antique clocks and gardening. Mr. Wyatt was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Michael James Brown.
               Surviving are his daughter, Tara Lytton and spouse Garron of Hickory; son, Devin Wyatt and spouse Jeremy Lazzara of Portland, Oregon; sister, Patricia Dollyhigh and spouse Randy of North Wilkesboro; and two grandchildren, Jaxton Bailey and Emmett Lytton both of Hickory.

Mrs. Ina Bertha Hayes Earp, age 95 of Boomer, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center.
               Graveside services were April 17, 2019 at Beaver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. James Hall officiating.
               Mrs. Earp was born July 2, 1923 in Wilkes County to Grover Cleveland Hayes and Mattie Johnson Hayes. She was an avid gardener and homemaker. Ina was known throughout her community for sharing baskets full of vegetables and flowers from her gardens. She retired from the manufacturing industry and was a life-long member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church.
               She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Ronald Blair Earp, a son; Jerry Nelson Earp, five sisters; Ruby Hayes Smith, Lexie Hayes Walsh, Irene Hayes Crawford, Helen Hayes Eller and Juanita Hayes Wyatt and three brothers; Clay Hayes, Parks Hayes and Earl Hayes.
               Mrs. Earp is survived by four grandchildren; Terri Diane Earp Jesenovic Gehringer and husband Earl, Ricky Blair Earp Jesenovic, Linda Sue Earp McClure and husband Doug and Leigh Ann Earp Nunn and husband Eric, five great-grandchildren; Kayla Diane Gehringer Michalik and husband Nick, Kenneth Aaron Gehringer and wife Nicole, Katie Mae Gehringer, Jeri Nicole McClure and Michael Jerrold Nunn, three great great grandchildren; Braxton Collins, Avery Gehringer and Mason Gehringer, a brother; Franklin Peeler Hayes and special caregivers; Barbara Gant and Nellie Rash and several special nieces and nephews.

Mr. Robert Louis Stipe, age 77 of Wilkesboro, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at his home.
               Memorial services were April 23,   at Reins Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Eddie Tharpe officiating.  
               Mr. Stipe was born January 28, 1942 in Ann Arbor, MI to Louis Reginald and Frances Smith Stipe. He was the Assistant Director of Pharmacy at Wilkes Regional Medical Center prior to his retirement.
               Mr. Stipe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Marta Carroll Hawthorne-Henry Stipe and a son; James David Stipe.
               He is survived by a daughter; Julia Ann Robertson and husband; John Sheagrn of Myrtle Beach, SC, two sons; Ronald Laurance Stipe and wife Barbara Lynn of Concord, NC and Kenneth Douglas Stipe of St. Augustine, FL, five grandchildren; Josh Robertson and wife Angela, Conner Stipe, Landon Stipe, Thomas Stipe and Liam Jarvis, two great grandchildren; Callum Robertson and Adella Robertson and a brother; John Stipe and wife Dee.

Walter Jerry Pennell, age 76, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Westwood Hills Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born June 13, 1942 in Wilkes County to Glenn and Marie Miller Pennell.                 Mr. Pennell was a US Air Force Veteran and a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, basketball and spending time with his dogs, Dixie and Sophie. Mr. Pennell was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Cynthia Ray Pennell.
               Surviving are his son, William G. Pennell of Navarre, Florida; daughter, JoAnn E. Dagenhart and spouse Kenneth of Corydon, Indiana; daughter, Kim Swofford of Wilkesboro, son, Chris Jarvis of Wilkesboro, daughter, Donna Coats and spouse Tony of Clayton, daughter, Missy Cayton of Raleigh, son, Don Cayton of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Jordan Dagenhart of Corydon, Indiana, Brenna Pennell and Amanda Hall both of Warner Robbins, Georgia; Morgan Swofford, Christyn Jarvis, Samantha Jarvis, and grandchildren who called him Jer-Jer, Carleigh Cayton, Ireland Cayton, Leah Cayton; great grandson, Robert Jarvis.
               Funeral service was April 20,   at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Gregory officiating. Mr. Albert Junior Miller, age 72 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at his home.
               Funeral services were  March 5, at Hinshaw Street Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Collins and Rev. Robert Wiles officiating. Burial was in Mountlawn Memorial Park.  
               Mr. Miller was born September 16, 1946 in Ashe County to James Wiley Miller and Mary Estella Miller. He was retired from the Town of North Wilkesboro as the Superintendent of  Streets. Mr. Miller was a former North Wilkesboro Fireman, former coach of Little League Ball, an avid bowler; at which he won several trophies and other prizes and was a CB enthusiast.
               In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Geneva Laws Miller, two sons; Roy Guy Miller and Kenneth Lee Miller, three sisters; Grace Miller Roberts, Blanche Miller Baker and Martha Deanie Miller Myers and four brothers; Wiley James (JL) Miller, Virgil Miller, Roy Miller and Harrold Gene Miller.
               He is survived by a daughter in law; Tammy Wood, a grandson; Allen James Miller a brother; Herbert Charles Miller of Rock Creek and several nieces and nephews.

Sue Carol Johnson, age 78, of Wilkesboro, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at her home. She was born July 12, 1940 in Moore County to Perry and Tixie Lovella Mabe Brewer. Ms. Johnson was retired from Bryan Mills and a member of Fern Hill Baptist Church in Statesville. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Joann Johnston.
               Surviving are her children, Brenda Roberts and husband Martin of North Wilkesboro, Linda Sprinkle of Wilkesboro, Terri Laws of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Kim Sprinkle and Clark Sprinkle both of North Wilkesboro; eleven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Mr. Ronald Smith Robinson, age 59 of Millers Creek, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at his home.
               Funeral services were March 5,   at Reins Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Danny Dillard and Rev. Stanley Wyatt officiating. Burial was  in Scenic Memorial Gardens.  
               Mr. Robinson was born September 11, 1959 in Forsyth County to Johnnie Wake and Ettie Sue Watts Robinson. He was retired from Schneider Mills. Mr. Robinson was a great Father. He worked hard all his life, was a good hearted person and loved all his family.
               He was preceded in death by his Mother and a sister; Sandy Robinson Wyatt.
               Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife; Virginia Aliene Crane Robinson of the home, his father; Johnnie Wake Robinson, three daughters; Kimberly Jimenez Garcia, Melissa Jimenez Garcia and Amber Robinson all of Millers Creek and a son; Michael Greene of Millers Creek, five grandchildren; Rosa Robinson, Maria Robinson, Lucero Robinson, Ronald Greene and Romero Robinson, a great grandchild; Elizabeth McManus, a sister; Linda Kirby and two brothers; John Paul Robinson and Fred Allen Robinson.

Jewell Ruth Teague, age 68, of Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born March 17, 1950 in Wilkes County to Dewey and Hope Ingool Teague. Ms. Teague was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church; enjoyed blue grass and gospel music. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Gary, Fred and David Teague.

Charles Keith Byrd, age 57, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 16, 1961 in Wilkes County to Charles Gleathen and Marie Smithey Byrd. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church and previously employed with Millers Bee Farm. Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his father; his wife, Kimberly Gilreath Byrd.
               Surviving are his son, Brandon Keith Byrd and wife April of Millers Creek; daughter, Megan Marie Byrd of North Wilkesboro; his mother, Marie Smithey of Hays; brother, Scott Byrd and wife Charlotte of Traphill; and grandchildren, Kyra Rose Byrd, Cobe Pennington and Derek Pennington,

Jerry Roger Anderson, age 71, of Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at SECU Hospice Home in Yadkinville. He was born August 16, 1947 in Wilkes County to Marshall Mott Anderson, Jr. and Ruby Viola Marlowe Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. He loved spending time in Maggie Valley with his wife of almost 51 years; riding his Harley-Davidson trike; and loved grandchildren and family. Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Greene Anderson; daughter, Jennifer Baker and husband Michael of Wilkesboro; son, Jonathan Anderson and wife Sherrie of Boomer; his mother, Ruby Marlowe Anderson of Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Anderson, Janine Severt both of Wilkesboro, Faith Hope Mitchell and husband Matt of Lewisville, Cole Anderson, John Michael Miller both of Wilkesboro, Landon Miller of Greensboro; great grandchildren, Jayceelee Anderson, Boston Severt, Brylee Severt all of Wilkesboro; great grand baby on the way; and sister, Elaine Ledford of North Wilkesboro.

Mrs. Eutha Spencer Hix, age 90 of Winston Salem, formerly of Wilkesboro, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at Arbor Acres in Winston Salem.
               Memorial services were February 27,  in Robinson Hall at Arbor Acres in Winston Salem with Rev. Dr. Tim Roberts officiating. Entombment was in Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
               Mrs. Hix was born October 21, 1928 in High Point to James Ross Spencer Sr. and wife Nonnie Susan Morris Spencer. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Hix was a member of First United Methodist Church in North Wilkesboro since 1949, volunteered with the American Red Cross and served on the ADAP Board. The greatest joy of her later life came with the arrival of her three grandchildren.
               She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother; Ross Spencer, Jr. and her sister; Irene Joines.
               Mrs. Hix is survived by her husband; James Richard Hix, III of the home,  three daughters; Mel Shinaman and husband Brad of Moravian Falls, Jenny Hix of Wilkesboro and Kathryn Hix-Boyette and husband Tom of Winston Salem, three grandchildren; Daniel Shinaman, Jay Shinaman and Stephanie Shinaman, a sister; Marie Reddeck of Trinity, NC and a brother; Donald Spencer of Raleigh.

Mr. Kenneth (Ken) Ronnie Hamby, Jr. age 49 of Millers Creek, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019.
               Funeral services were March 1st,   at Welcome Home Baptist Church with Pastor Lyn Lambert,  Rev. John Triplett and Rev. Billy Shepherd officiating. Burial was in Union Baptist Church Cemetery, Millers Creek.  
               Mr. Hamby was born April 4, 1969 in Wilkes County to Kenneth Ronnie Hamby, Sr. and Willa Dean Bumgarner Hamby. He retired from North Carolina DOT in 2017 as an Area Materials Engineer and was currently employed by DRMP Incorporated. Ken was a member and Deacon at Welcome Home Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro.
               He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; Edgar and Brona Hamby and Dewey and Louisa Bumgarner.

Clyde Eddie Faw, age 75, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Monday, February 25, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Regional. He was born February 6, 1944 in Wilkes County to Arthur Lee and Margaret Lucille Johnson Faw. Clyde was a member of Friendship Church of the Brethren. Mr. Faw was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Charles Lee Faw; and sister, Margaret Louise Pierce.
               Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Sheets Faw; son, Russell Gene Faw of North Wilkesboro; daughter, Rita Gail Shumate and husband Billy of North Wilkesboro; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Ware of North Wilkesboro; brother, Tommy Lee Faw and wife Bertha of North Wilkesboro; sisters, Mary Ruth Gilbert of Taylorsville, Kathy Marie Pennington and husband Butch, Lisa Ann Flinchum all of North Wilkesboro; several nieces and nephews.

Victoria "Vicki" Elledge Stinson, age 68, of Sanford, was promoted to Heaven, Monday, February 25, 2019. She was born October 30, 1950 in Wilkes County to Hazel Lawrence and Pauline Elizabeth Peacock Elledge. Mrs. Stinson was a faithful Christian. She enjoyed reading, particularly the Bible; sewing, and spending time with her five grandkids. Vicki was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Doug Elledge.

Mrs. Judy Ann Brown Alexander, age 73 of North Wilkesboro, passed away February 24, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston Salem.
               Funeral services were February 28,  at Northside Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Seth Whitley and Mr. Jason Richardson officiating.   Burial was in Middle Cross Baptist Church cemetery.  
               Mrs. Alexander was born March 23, 1945 in Wilkes County to Charlie Franklin and Myrtle Estelle Brown. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
               In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; Nancy Anderson and five brothers; Ernest Brown, Harrison Brown, Wade Brown, Wayne Brown and Raymond Brown.
               She is survived by her husband; Brother Jerry Alexander of the home,  three daughters; Sandy Richardson and husband Wayne of Hays, Dawn Alexander and Pam Alexander both of North Wilkesboro, a sister; Ruth Mitchell and husband Tommy of Hays and a brother Bill Brown and wife Barbara of North Wilkesboro, a grandson; Jason Richardson and a great grandchild; Carly Richardson.

Lucy  Tew Pitts,  age 95 
 Lucy  Tew Pitts,  age 95 of Darby, North Carolina and formerly of Godwin, departed this life on Sunday, February 24,2019 at her home.
                She was born on May 24, 1923 in Cumberland County to the late William Franklin Tew and the late Cora Lillian Graham Tew. She was also preceded in death by her husband, one brother and 5 sisters. She was a member of Godwin Presbyterian Church.
               She leaves behind to honor her legacy her three sons: Larry Franklin Pitts and Shana Hall of Darby, NC, Anthony Dwight Pitts of Erwin, Gregory Tew Pitts of Fayetteville, NC; one daughter: Cynthia Lorraine Jones and husband Tom of Valle Crucis, NC; one sister Grace Sink of Greensboro, NC ,four grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
               A funeral service to commemorate the life of Lucy Tew Pitts was March 1,  in the parlor of Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home.  She was  laid to rest next to her husband at Lafayette Memorial Park following a private committal service.

Rev. Jerry Dean Wagoner, 74, of Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center.  He was born April 6, 1944 in Wilkes County the son of Wedford James and Beulah Morgan Wagoner.
               Jerry was the husband of Marjorie (Brenda) Wagoner for 54 years and the father of Vicky Birdwell (Wil) of Hamptonville, Lynn Wagoner of Wilkesboro, Dwight Wagoner (Donna) of North Wilkesboro, and Beth Rivers (Van) of North Wilkesboro.  He was the grandfather of Stephanie Birdwell, Kayla Birdwell, Ethan Rivers, Evan Rivers, David Wagoner and Crystal Wagoner. He was the great-grandfather of Tyler Birdwell and Dallas Sigmon.
               Jerry was the pastor of The Shepherd's Lighthouse Church in North Wilkesboro. Before his retirement he owned and operated an automotive repair business, Jerry's Garage.  He was an avid car enthusiast and spent much of his time restoring antique cars. He and his wife, Brenda, enjoyed the company of good friends and family and often had visitors at their home.
               In addition to his wife and children, Jerry is survived by three brothers, Gary Wagoner, Gene Wagoner, and Dennis Wagoner; and three sisters, Geneva Eller, Sallie Basham and Alethia Cleary; and numerous nieces and nephews.
               Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Conley officiating. Burial will be at Mountlawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Steve Alton Michael, age 60 of North Wilkesboro, died Saturday, May 19, 2018 at his home.
               Memorial services will be held at a later date.
               Mr. Michael was born July 22, 1957 in Hartford, Maryland to Alton Glen and Margie Ruth Huffman Michael.  He had retired as a mechanic for the NC Department of Transportation. He loved to hunt, fish and bowl.
               He was preceded in death by his father, Alton Glen Michael, and one brother, Barry Glen Michael.
               He is survived by his wife, Sherry Paulette Jarvis Michael, of the home; his mother, Margie Ruth Huffman Michael, of Purlear; one brother, Brian Scott Michael and wife, Donna, of Oak Island, NC; and one sister-in-law, Debra Foster Michael of Purlear.

Mrs. Penny Gaye Anderson, 53, of North Wilkesboro, passed away on Thursday May 17, 2018.
               Penny was born on May 21, 1964 in Wilkes County to Flake Rockwell Weber and Margie Ann Moore Weber.
               Penny is preceded in death by her father, Flake Rockwell Weber.
               Penny is survived by her mother, Margie Ann Moore Weber; husband of 34 years Robert David Anderson; two sons, Tyler Flake Anderson of North Wilkesboro, Zachary David Anderson ( Anne) of Boomer; sisters, Vickie Mikeal (Kenneth) of Wilkesboro, Laura Weber of North Wilkesboro, two step grandchildren, two nieces, Tiffany Clonch, Crystal Graybeal, three great nephews and one great niece.
               The memorial service was held   May 20,   at the Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel in Moravian Falls.

Harry A. (Hank) Poff, age 87, of Wilkesboro, passed away on his 54th Wedding Anniversary, Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at his home. He was born July 13, 1930 in Warren, Ohio to Harry Andrew and Sarah Becker Poff. Mr. Poff graduated from Texas A&M University. He was a US Air Force Veteran and employed with Red River Army Depot as OSHA Safety Inspector. Mr. Poff was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, David Poff, Dale Poff, Gerald Poff; and two sisters, Evelyn Hayford and Rutheda Poff.
               Surviving are his wife, Janice Grimes Poff; his children, Wayne Poff and wife Laura of Morganton, Lori Kellogg and husband Stephen of Wilmington, Delaware, Andrew Poff and wife JacquaLynn of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Erica Poff, Sean Henry, Lee Anna Thompson, Miranda Henry, Destinee Myers, Anna Lisa Myers and David Kellogg; numerous nieces and nephews.

Daeson Breck Harmon of Wilkesboro went home to be with our Lord and Savior  Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Brenner's Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem.

Arnold William Miller, age 75, of Millers Creek, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at his home. He was born November 18, 1942 in Wilkes County to John Rever and Ethel Huffman Miller. Mr. Miller was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Millers Creek and also served as Usher. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Arvil Miller, Clinton Miller, Andrew Miller, Jim Miller, Worth Miller, Paul Miller; and sister, Sara Jane Parlier.
               Surviving are his wife, Janie Miller; daughter, Lisa Duncan and husband Robert of Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Kyler Duncan and Ashley Duncan; brother, Ray Miller of Glendale Springs; sister, Grace Nye of Millers Creek; several nieces and nephews.

Linda Mae Longbottom, age 75, of North Wilkesboro, passed away, Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born August 12, 1942 in Wilkes County to Pauline Reavis. Linda was a member of Rose of Sharon Baptist Church. Mrs. Longbottom was preceded in death by her mother; her husband, Donald Foyle Longbottom; daughter, Melissa Dawn Longbottom.
               Surviving are her sons, Tracy Longbottom and wife Dawn of Hays, Marty Longbottom and wife Gail of Wilmington; grandchildren, Seth Longbottom, Ben Longbottom, Lauren Longbottom.

Sandra Gilreath Parks at the age of 53 was quietly called to her eternal home on Friday, May 11, 2018."
               Sandra Gilreath Parks (Sandy) was born February 27, 1965 in Wilkes County to John and Lucy Gilreath.
               Sandy met and married her high school sweetheart Leonard Everette Parks, and to their union they had one son "Seth Everette Parks" who was the apple of her eye.  During Leonard's and Sandy's 30 years of marriage, the family relocated many times for Leonard's career and they settled in Statesville, N.C. where Sandy began her career at Energy United.
               Sandy was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Yvonne McCurdy Gilreath.
               She leaves to cherish her memory: husband Leonard Everette Parks of the home, son Seth Everette Parks of the home, father John David Gilreath of Wilkesboro, NC. sisters: Stacey Barnes (Shawn) of Lenior, NC., Nancy Gilreath of Wilkesboro, NC.                Mrs. Nancy May Lathan, age 68 of Moravian Falls, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at her
home.
               Nancy was born May 4, 1950 in Durham, NC to William and Pauline Farrell May. She attended Jordan
High School in Durham, NC and later received her Business and Advertising degree from Bauder College in Atlanta, GA.
               Nancy's flair and display skills led to her career as an Advertising and Window Designer for Belk.
               Department stores in the 1970's in the most coveted Crabtree Mall location. Nancy's natural beauty and  graceful poise attracted Joes attention early on and in 1976 began their married life together, moving to
Monroe, NC. Nancy's creativity took her onward in her mobile career, opening Belk's flagship locations
in Myrtle Beach and SouthPark of Charlotte. Her love of color and appreciation of art and artists led to  the opening of "Design Space" in Davidson, NC prior to her eventual retirement.
               Nancy and Joe divided their time between their homes on Lake Norman, Boone and Moravian Falls NC, where she could easily observe plentiful wildlife just outside her windows. She appreciated the peaceful
opportunities to walk in nature and bask in the views.
               Nancy will be missed by all who knew and loved her; for her keen observations of nature, her bright  smile and the twinkle in her eyes.
               She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister; Debbie Catlett.
               Nancy is survived by her loving husband; Joe of the home, a stepdaughter; JoAnn Austin and husband Tim of Troutman, a granddaughter; Mackenzie Austin of Troutman and two brothers; Bob May and Bill May of Durham.

Bertha (Pauline) Hamby, age 76, of Ferguson, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Hamby was born April 18, 1942 in Ashe County to William and Maggie Miller Dillard. She attended Full Gospel Tabernacle. Pauline loved going to flea markets and loved being with her grandbabies. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank Dillard, Albert Dillard and Delmar Dillard.
Surviving are her husband, Wayne Hamby; sons, Scott Hamby and wife Kimberly of Ferguson, Robert Ferguson and wife Sherry of Happy Valley; grandchildren, Randell Ferguson and Jacob Ferguson both of Happy Valley, Cadence Hamby and Breece Hamby both of Ferguson; brothers, Richard Miller of Millers Creek, Mike Cockerham and wife Dana of Ferguson; and sisters, Faye Woodie of Ronda, Margie Coffey of Lenoir.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ferguson with Rev. Alan Miller officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 Monday night. Flowers will be accepted.    Melissa Wagner Stewart, age 52, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018. She was born April 23, 1966 in Wilkes County to Earl Dalton and Betty Palmer Wagner. She loved children, singing, music, loved animals and flowers. Melissa was a very loving person and had unconditional love for everyone. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her father; her husband, James Allen Stewart; and a brother, Edwin Dexter Wagner.
  Surviving are her daughter, Jessica Walls and husband Mack, Jr. of South Haven, Mississippi; grandchildren, Julius Walls, Jalin Walls, Makayla Walls; step sons, Ben Stewart of New York, Jay Stewart and Josh Stewart both of Kentucky; mother, Betty Palmer Wagner of North Wilkesboro; brothers, Eddie Wagner of Hays, Donnie Wagner and wife Louann of Rural Hall, Jarvis Wagner of North Wilkesboro, David Wagner and wife Darlene of Hays, Greg Wagner of Wilkesboro; sisters, Sherry Beckwith and husband Jim of Wilkesboro, Pamela Call and husband Steven of North Wilkesboro; twelve nieces and six nephews.
  Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Pastor H. Cowles Bristol officiating. Burial will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 9:00 until 10:00 on Tuesday, prior to the service.
