Does Stellar Blade Have What it Takes to be a Stellar Game?
Since then, more videos of combat and discussion about other elements in Stellar Blade have only added to the anticipation, making it standout during a period when so many other great games are being released. As the release date draws near, a demo was released to allow players some hands on time to see if the actual game could live up to expectations.

the gamergate 2 losers who propped up stellar blade as their vanguard against Woke because it has a big titty lady have now turned on the game because one of her many incredibly revealing outfits now covers up a couple extra inches of cleavage as compared to in the demo and this is censorship, somehow

Stellar Blade - Demo Teaser
The demo for Stellar Blade will be available via PlayStation Store on March 29, 2024 at 7:00 a.m. PT / 10:00 a.m. ET.
Demo details via director Kim Hyung Tae on PlayStation Blog:
The demo features a portion of the game’s first section—up to the first boss fight—and save data can be transferred to the full game when it launches.
The demo takes place from the very beginning of the game when Eve, a member of the 7th Airborne Squad is sent to Earth on a mission to reclaim the planet from the Naytiba, up to the first boss fight. This first stage will include the tutorial phase to help you familiarize yourself with basic combat features as you explore post-war Eidos 7, a human city now infested by the Naytiba, giving you an early grasp of gameplay mechanics that will serve you throughout the game’s story.
We also have a little surprise included for players who complete the first stage.
From the smooth 60 frames per second combat to the haptics, you’ll feel through the DualSense wireless controller, there are various charms of the game that you can only confidently appreciate through hands-on experience.
For those who complete the demo stage, you can carry over your save data when the full game releases on April 26, starting from the last checkpoint. Please note that save data must be stored on your PlayStation 5 system.
The Stellar Blade demo will be available starting Friday, March 29 from 7:00 a.m. PT / 2:00 p.m. GMT.
Alongside the demo, the full game will feature the following language options:
Voice Over: Korean, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Latin Spanish.
Text: Korean, English (United States), French, Italian, German, Spanish, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Arabic, Turkish, Thai, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese.
Stellar Blade will launch for PlayStation 5 on April 26, 2024.

Played the stellar blade demo. Its a 'get on steep discount' game for me as I like the music and the story premise is intriguing but combat is just…kind of jerky feeling? not sure how to describe it but it doesn't feel as smooth or reactive as it needs to be.
I dont mind a little T&A, huge fan of nier and bayonetta, but both games have leagues better gameplay to them, as well as leads that are immediately memorable and interesting.
grab it on a $10 sale some day that would be worth it, but def not full price

Stellar Blade's demo came out a few days ago and I played it. I thought that I would probably wait for a deep sale because I liked most of what I played but $70 was a steep asking price. However, I can't shake the Nier Automata vibes I got from what we've seen so far. Looking deeper, the director behind Stellar Blade even told Game Informer verbatim: "Yoko Taro’s Nier: Automata was the biggest inspiration for Stellar Blade". Stellar Blade Feature – Angel From Heaven - Game Informer
So now, I gotta talk about the heavy contrasts between the two games,

Stellar Blade (The 4-26-24 Playstation 5 game) and other soulslikes
There are some small things to critique with Stellar Blade, and then one pretty big thing. And then some serious positives.
I've been playing soulslikes a ton lately, namely Stranger of Paradise, Wo Long, Lies of P, and Rise of the Ronin. Rise of the Ronin has a core flaw in it's combat, a busted deflect system, so it's no good, but the other three are pretty great even though they each have their own ways of screwing it up a little.
Lies of P has you fighting unpredictable puppets with lurching movements using perfectly timed blocks and short dodge windows, meaning the only way to be any good is to memorize everything, while Stranger of Paradise and Wo Long both have worse multiplayer, by a great margin, than even Elden Ring does. Both have it so anyone who joins your game, if you're playing with the public, will be stupidly strong and able to effortlessly crush anything that might've been a challenge in a game with better multiplayer. That's how it is oftentimes in Elden Ring, but it's more like a 5 minute fight is shortened to 1 minute, in Elden RIng, rather than a 5 minute fight being shortened to 5 seconds, in Stranger of Paradise and Wo Long.
Lies of P, Stranger of Paradise, Wo Long, and Stellar Blade are all either actually single player or should be exclusively played in single player. Which is unfortunate, but fine I suppose. Stellar Blade has no multiplayer at all, like Lies of P, and it also has a very limited loot system and the only post-game is new game plus, also like Lies of P. They're really pretty similar but I think Lies of P is more measured while Stellar Blade is just more fun. However, that's just the base combat, with Stellar Blade having way more offense and defense options than any other soulslike ever, but it also has a pretty serious weakness that Lies of P doesn't have, and indeed almost no soulslikes have other than Code Vein.
The boss fights are a miss, for two reasons. After the first boss, which you may have fought playing the demo: Abaddon, there's a TWO HOUR gap between that fight and the next boss fight. And that next boss fight DIES IN ONE TRY. So there are massive gaps between boss fights, at least early on where I am, and the boss fights, when they finally show themselves, are a solid smack of disappointment. And you cannot respawn bosses and fight them again, which you could do with the one boss fight in the demo, so it just sucks. And no hope of mods to respawn bosses because it's a Playstation 5 exclusive.
So it's basically a soulslike without boss fights. That's how you should largely consider it when you're making the purchase. Now, that said, the actual combat is excellent and is the best of any soulslike. You just do not get to put it to a whole lot of use against meaty challenges. This is a game that would benefit greatly from Bloody Palace, which is from Devil May Cry, or Mortal Journey, from Sekiro. Enemy gauntlets and/or boss gauntlets.
Stellar Blade's combat has perfect blocks, perfect dodges, grab counters, unblockable counters, ranged combat with guns, two attack buttons with intertwining combos, charged attacks, 8 skills, a dashing lunge, and air dodging. It's everything you could ask for other than aimed deflects, which is from The Surge 2, and then aimed attacks which has only been done in For Honor. It's everything you could want, minus boss fights. Which is a grievous sin but the positives are so extensive that it's fine. The game is great, and among the best soulslikes I've played. All it needs is gauntlets, which Sekiro added long after release so there's still hope.
[Afterword: I also played Granblue Fantasy: Relink to death, as well as Helldivers 2 but I won't talk about that, and Granblue has very similar ass multiplayer as Wo Long and Stranger of Paradise. Other players are wildly overpowered for the games they join, and as with those two it extends all the way into endgame. Game designers don't seem to care if people instant-kill bosses in multiplayer, so the multiplayer in all of those games is just wasted resources. It gives the game a little more playtime and gives you a little advertising blurb to put on the box, but it's just ass and a waste of time. All of these games with crap multiplayer are going to be wonderful with friends, however, but again, complete ass when playing with the public.]
Edit: The small problems with Stellar Blade are that the perfect dodge has a very small window and the normal dodge also has a tiny window of effectiveness. Of invincibility frames. So the perfect guard, since it extends into a pretty good normal guard, is a lot better than the dodges and it also breaks posture on enemies, which dodges do not do. The dodge button is used for grab counters and unblockable counters though, so if you're going to call those mini-cutscenes dodges, then I guess the two defense options are balanced out. That's probably how the devs cognitive-ly dissonance-ly thought about it when they balanced them, but the normal dodge sucks (and covers a tiny distance) and the perfect dodge is a huge risk because of that. That's the small critique. Skills are also probably a little too strong, and then the climbing is a chore like it always is. Ladders are done well though. But yeah Stellar Blade is a pretty great game, and I think a lot of conventionally "good games", like the 2018 God of War, and Red Dead Redemption 2, and Dark Souls by the way, suck, so I'm not like a video game fanboy like most people you'll hear from.

Stellar Blade Half-Second Input Delay Due to 'Game's Style of Animation', Says Director
Stellar Blade is out today, and fans can finally play the full game to see what all the fuss is about. If you didn’t get a chance to try the demo or just wanted to go in fresh, it is worth knowing that the half-second input delay when parrying or dodging is a feature, not a bug, as the game’s director recently explained. Speaking to Japanese outlet 4Gamer (translated by Automaton, thanks, VGC),…
