can i ask what brush you use for sketches :3
inking too but mainly sketches, idk if you use procreate or what but ur art is super pretty and your style is super unique an i just look up to you a lot as an artist
I sketch and ink everything on paper! I use mechanical pencils a lot, for sketches as well as some rougher linearts. 0.7 mm is my preferred lead thickness.
For proper inked linearts I use Staedtler pigment liners, Pilot drawing pens, Copic multiliners and Pigma microns.

Etienne of Navarre, Ladyhawke.
This Post-It Note piece is for sale. £25 plus packaging and postage. If you are interested drop me a message at [email protected]
The Post-It Notes I work on are 76mm wide by 127mm deep in canary yellow and I generally use a Pentel Brush Pen and Staedtler Pigment Liners for the ink work, Copic and ProMarkers for the colour.
I’ve created a backing card that the sketch sticks onto and works as a flat mount to fit into a store bought 6” by 4” photo frame should you wish to hang your art on a wall.

OK
WHICH ART MATERIALS DO YOU USE?!
LIKE, HOW DOES YOUR PEN.. PEN LIKE THAT. THE LINES ARE SO AKHSOWHSIWHISJW
AND YOUR COLORS ACTUALLY COLOR
Please. I need to know.
Hi!! So I’ll be very honest I don’t use anything fancy!
So here’s the list and a funny story along with them! (You’re getting the whole experience)
INKING:
STA Pigment Liner Pack. (I found one in the street and I liked it so I went to look for more online. Almost died for picking up something from the street counter: 1)
- Pros: Waterproof! (For a while) And since it’s a pack, they come with many different sizes
- Cons: after some time the ink does erase a little, and loses its waterproof….
Sharpie Permanent Marker Ultra Fine (I was in desperate need for new inking pen.)
-Pros: Doesn’t ERASE!! Very strong pigment. Water proof. Lasts!!
-Cons: smell…
COLORING:
Royal & Langnickel 18 watercolors: (I just wanted to have something to do in school since I never had much work to do)
Pros: Very Travel Friendly
Cons: idk!! I’m not a watercolor person !! It’s the first time for me!!
Aenart 36 Dual Pens: (I was gifted this from the school!! The embarrassing part was that I sleeping when it all happened. They stormed in the classroom with a camera in my face saying: “YOUR WISH HAS BEEN GRANTED.” I practically jumped out of my chair! Apparently my teacher bought it for me!<3)
Pros: MANY COLORS!! VERY PRETTY!! White marker is perfect for shading white!! (I know nothing about shading)
Cons: none I love them
Staedtler 10 Triplus fineliner: (no story)
Pros: very fine! Very pigmented!
Cons: I don’t remember… maybe don’t put them near watercolor if not dried or applying?
Crayola Color Pencils: (I do not have a full pack. The ones I have are from elementary. I’m currently in college.)
Pros: I like them :) very affordable
Cons: idk! Maybe a professional knows…
Imperial Color Pencils: (I only have ONE! It’s the red one. Almost died for picking up something from the street counter: 2)
Pros: The red one is very nice! Very pigmented!
Cons: idk… I don’t have the full pack…
U Brands Gel Pens 30 Count: ( I got this from a secret Santa! A YEAR LATE. A YEARR!! So when I received it I was very pleased. The year wait was worth it)
Pros: many colors!! Glitter!! Metallic too!!
Cons: does NOT dry fast. Need to wait for it to dry or it will smudge everywhere. The white gel pen doesn’t work well. Get a special one for that! (Someone told me here which one but I already forgot….)
PROCESS:
So ofc sketch first!!
Inking: I use the STA pen for face and face shape. Since I draw Fukase (mostly), I use it for his face markings too. (After erasing sketch, I advice to touch up anywhere you used the STA Pen) For the Sharpie Pen I use it for the the rest. Background, body, clothes, etc.
Coloring: First I go over it with my watercolors. I put them down before I put down the markers. For example, I use the watercolor first for Fukase’s hair. Then I use the Staedtler Pens to get that bright red! For clothes (or anything else) I use Aenart Markers. For the background, I put my crayola/ imperial color pencils on top. Depends on the feeling I want. Then I usually like to outline my drawings with the U Brands Gel Pens. When I tell you I put glitter on all my drawings, I put it on ALL my drawings!! I LOVE SHINY!!
Conclusion:
I really hope this was able to answer your question! I’m pretty sure most of the things on my list are affordable! I also hope my process was able to help explain how I make coloring… well coloring (English is not my first language I apologize. I suck at my first language too, though). I also hope you enjoyed the bonus stories (I didn’t want to make this whole thing boring). If you have any more questions I’ll be happy to answer them!! Also THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I never thought someone would actually like how I color since I struggle big time with it,,, I’m self taught so I have no idea of the art basics of coloring.
Anyway, thank you so much again!!

Welcome!
hi, you can call me mayor or delia. i'm an aroace artist who really likes kagamine rin and robin fire emblem. this account is where i post art i make :) while i wanna keep it focused on that, i might expand to making text posts on random thoughts and will still answer any asks that come my way!
things of note
Art tag -> #mayor doidles
instagram
my artfol (this is just for portfolio documentation/only has my favorites with proper descriptions, so it’s not up to date and i’m not active on there)
i’m also on sheezy for similar purposes, through its more updated and my page looks cooler
smash prose server info
my "main" blog (which appears in notifs when i like a post or follow someone) is @dois-funnyzone. that account is where i just reblog things. even though it appears as my main, please don't follow that one in favor of this one!!
i don't take comissions
reposting my art is permitted as long as you fully credit me 🙏🏻 you can reblog and all that ofc
personal use is okay!! :D for things like pfps, just credit me somewhere
some more detailed things about me below the cut :]
what i draw
i draw a lot of fanart of whatever interests me! so please don't follow me if you only want to see fanart from one thing haha,, though the most consistent subject i draw is vocaloid (mainly the mascot characters and how they appear in different songs) and fe awakening (mainly robin, of either gender). i also have ocs that i might occassionally subject you to. oc masterpost coming eventually hopefully TwT by the way, all art of my oc can be found in the #mayors ocs tag~
here's some things i generally like as well, though no guarantee i'll be mass producing art for it like the other stuff i mentioned
☆vocaloid (favorite characters are probably rin, miku, una, meiko, and kaito. favorite producers are utsu-p, ghost, and pinocchiop. casual enjoyer of kikuo, nyanyannya, vane, and kairiki bear) ☆fire emblem (even though it's probably the weakest game i've played, i really like fe awakening, even past it featuring robin lol. i have played and enjoyed all the modern titles!) ☆super smash bros (heavily intertwined with my enjoyment of fe. i really like the crossover stuff about it and used to write fic about it (unpublished)!! i may occasionally draw some of the characters from that cross over here. be warned though that what i tag as "smash bros" is wildly inconsistent across my page TwT) ☆jojo (favorite parts are 4, 5, and 7!! johnny and josuke are my favorite protagonists) ☆shining/love nikki (don't play LN anymore but shining nikki is one of the only tolerable gachas ive played lol! i love the fashion and might sometimes draw suits from the games or outfits i've made) ☆persona (suuuper casual though, only played 4 and 5) ☆rhythm heaven (i just think it's neat!! also fever's soundtrack rocks my world) ☆stardew valley (cool farming game yeah) ☆animal crossing (though i have much to criticize about NH, i really like using it for background inspo lol)
haha sorry for the ramble. but yeah i draw a lot of stuff pertaining to the things i like, some more than others. all art of that nature can be found in the #fanart tag.
supplies and brushes!
in case you're curious about the things i use to make my art, here it is. i like making both traditional art and digital art depending on how i feel.
traditional supplies
paper - i almost always draw in sketchbooks. for full colored pieces, i'm fond of strathmore's visual journal sketchbooks (the ones i'm using atm are mixed media). for on-the-go sketches and doodles, i use a notebook with dotted paper, nothing fancy. sketching - i like using a red grading pencil (essentially a waxy colored pencil with an erasing) for sketching since markers and paint blend into it which means less erasing. i also use a regular mechanical pencil or gel pen for concept sketches or doodles. inking - there's a lot of inking tools i like! i like using staedtler pigment liners for simple lines and hatching, as well as tombow brush pens for quick line weight. markers - my primary coloring tool. while they're not perfect, i primarily use ohuhus; they're great if you're starting out since they're quite cheap! i also use a grab-bag of other marker brands like tombow or copics, but those are my mains. colored pencils - prismacolors, baybee!! i mainly use these for lineart and additional shading and texture. paint - also far from perfect, but i use the himi jelly gouache for paintings even though i'm kinda ass at it. i also used to use a very crusty windsor & newton watercolor kit. as for brushes, idk i inherited most of mine and they work fine.
digital stuff
program - i use procreate on an ipad to draw digitally. i know it's basic but it gets the job done for me default brushes i like - among the brushes that come with procreate, the ones i like are: HB pencil (sketching), 6B pencil (sketching), technical pen (inking), gel pen (inking), honeyeater (vintage), and campagnia (vintage). would like to make a detailed brush list eventually TwT brush packs i like - i download a lot of brushes, but these packs are ones i absolutely swear by. all are free! jingsketch basics is a must-get for anyone that likes digital painting. i use "soft chalk" to render. rusty rakes is a set of textured line brushes i love to use to add extra hatched textures to my paintings. mainly rely on rr dark. i also use a halftone brush to add texture to my art, but unfortunately i cannot find it or the author! will update when i do~
anyway
thank you for reading. this post might get updated in the future when i think of more stuff to add or change. i def wanna update my meet the artist thing cuz that is oooold!!
bye bye!!

What kind of pens did you use to ink your drawing?
I usually pick out individual pens from the pen bar at Blick based on what I need instead of buying sets -- so I'll have a pen for thick lines, some for thinner, etc. I usually use a staedtler permanent marker for bold outlines, then a pigment liner in 0.5 for the finer lines. But I also use pentels sometimes! I'll also make a bold outline in a thick marker and then make pointed/cleaner edges with the finer ones

I've never tested my black pens on watercolor paper so I wanted to see what would happen. Let me know if you like this sort of thing!
Pens tested in order of appearance:
@sakuraofamerica Pigma Micron
@fabercastellusa Pitt Artist Pen
@sharpie Permanent Marker
@staedtler Pigment Liner
@posca_usa Paint Marker (acrylic base)
@tombowusa Mono Drawing Pen
@stabilo Pen 68 (the only one that blended with the watercolors)
@kuretakezig_usa Millenium
@sharpie Pen (wasn't sure if the ink was the same as a permanent marker)
These are just the pens I had on hand to test so it's not an exhaustive test. The blackest black was the Posca. Everything else worked flawlessly, just the Pen 68 failed. Just be sure to give your ink time to dry before paint over it.

This Ruzader idea popped in my head on one of my multiple bus misfortunes of my trip. It's been a long time since I actually sketched a thing instead of just slapping colors and marks on paper. I forgot how hard sketching is...
The main inspiration for the form was a combination of the Coast Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma coronatum), desert reptiles in general, geckos/salamanders/other reptiles that lose and regenerate their tails, the Iguana Parrot from Avatar, and the Izuchi monsters in Monster Hunter Rise. For the colors I tried to stay in similar families to Ruze's hair colors, crimson, and what wouldn't be completely out of place in the environment of the Badlands.
I tried to stay away from overly dinosaur-like features (because I assume Jurard's going with that theme for the Sorawrity (or however the fuck you spell that)) as well as steering away from axolotl features because of the Axelotls. I didn't add it but I also imagine each Ruzader wearing their own unique mask and scale coloring, similar to how the Koipanions are all different colored and have different hats sometimes (sans Puniko).
It's far far too late right now to add what I hand wrote in the pic but I might come back to this in a few days to type it out here since idk if my handwriting is easy to read for those who have English as a second language and rarely see native handwriting in the wild.
Below the cut I'll post some progress pics from when I was inking and painting the colors, as well as a pre-colored version. Also if anyone is better at art, feel free to recreate this concept to look more badass-cute like I initially intended but failed to fully execute on. Just like don't be a dick and credit the idea at least.
Tumblr media
Okay this is the actual concept sketch as I was (suffering) in a bus that was breaking down on the side of the road. I think this guy's such a cute little thing despite how crudely it's sketched via my pointer finger.
Tumblr media
Pre-color version! Easier to read text since I took this during the day and lighting was better.
Tumblr media
I want to draw your attention to the "waterproof on paper" claim on this inking pen 😒
Tumblr media
First colors laid down!
Tumblr media
This was about the point when my wrist started hurting from dotting the watercolors so precisely and I regretted every painting decision I made here. But I'm still not confident enough in my control over watercolors (especially in this definitely-not-watercolor-paper sketch book) to just wash and glaze the colors.
Tumblr media
And here's the supplies I used. From top to bottom:
Staples postscript 0.7 mechanical pencil
Random fine liner paint brush I bought. I think the bristles are natural hair but no idea what animal.
Sharpie S-pen 0.5
Staedtler pigment liner 0.2
Kuretake waterbrush fine version
Faber-Castell watercolor pencils in deep scarlet red, bistre, dark red, and nougat
Kuretake Gansai Tambi gouache-ish watercolors 12 color set 2 (they're kind of in-between gouache and watercolors idk they're Kuretakes, if you're familiar you're familiar). I used the colors neutral beige (11), rose beige (12), indian red (71), maroon (72), and gray (21).
Thanks for reading this far if you did! This was fun, but it's 3:30am right now and I need to sleep so I can panic-pack my stuff tomorrow morning before checkout to return from my trip.

A Korean clothing brand gifted me a unique keychain, a miniature holy Bible adorned with intricate details. As someone from a Buddhist background, I initially didn't recognize its significance until a Christian friend pointed it out. This discovery led me to write a paper exploring the ethical aspects of mass-producing religious items. It's now one of my favourite and thought-provoking possessions, symbolising the complexities of culture, religion, and mass production.
Visual elements, materials, qualities - This miniature holy Bible features a silver chrome cover that is intricate and contains a lot of tiny writings of the actual original "The Gutenberg Bible".
Context - Key chain, decoration piece
Relationships to works: In my essay, I delved into the fascinating realm of religious material objects and their mass production, emphasizing how this phenomenon amplifies the presence of art and makes it accessible to a wide audience. This perspective prompts us to shift our focus from solely scrutinizing the production of these objects to also considering the consumers and target audiences as active creators and interpreters of art. It underscores the intricate interplay between art, religion, and the consumer culture we live in.
The item makes me think about the ethics of being a creator. We design for the people and it's important we keep the consumers in mind and keep things appropriate.
18. Crocs (Category - Sustainability)
Significant, connections, POV - My favourite pair of shoes, they are so comfortable and I love to wear them to uni. Crocs are celebrated for their comfort and versatility, appealing to a wide range of individuals seeking relaxed and easy-to-wear shoes.
Visual elements, materials, qualities - A pair of black platform Crocs is characterised by their distinct perforated design, chunky platform soles, and slip-on style, providing comfort and a touch of style to casual footwear.
Context - Shoes
Relationships to works - While they may not have a direct link to my professional work, these edgy platform Crocs are a bold expression of my love for fashion and a reflection of my unique personality. They stand as a statement piece in my wardrobe, showcasing my individual style and penchant for daring choices in footwear.
19. Ribbons
Significant, connections, POV - Ribbons hold a special place in my heart. To me, they represent a blend of femininity and elegance, reflecting a girly side that I cherish.
Visual elements, materials, qualities - Ribbons are characterised by their slender, flowing strands, often in various colours and patterns.
Context - Art tools, decorations
Relationships to works - I've integrated ribbons into my design work, utilising them as versatile tools for packaging and publication design. They serve as a constant reminder of the graceful and refined side of my personality, infusing charm into various aspects of my life and style.
20. Vietnamese ceramic flower vase
Significant connections, POV - A vase my parents kept since I was little. This vase has cultural significance, reflecting Vietnam's pottery heritage, and is also exported internationally, appreciated for its craftsmanship and unique design.
Visual elements, materials, and qualities - A Vietnamese ceramic flower vase with dragon patterns showcases sinuous, colourful dragons against a white backdrop. With its elegant form, this vase symbolises power and good fortune, making it both a beautiful and culturally significant decorative piece in Vietnam.
Context - Plants, flowers, decoration, cultural piece
Relationships to works - I've taken a lot of inspiration from the dragon patterns on the vase into my work, the traditional way of painting on ceramics in Vietnam. The elegant and precise craftmanship also inspired me a lot in creating any of my work.

What type of pen do you use for your lineart? I really love the look of it
I used Staedtler pigment liners exclusively for probably close to ten years, I find them very reliable
Tumblr media
but they've gotten weirdly hard to find locally so I've started using Copic multiliners as well and they're my current go-to pens.
Tumblr media
I also have a few Sakura pigma microns and they're alright, but I don't like how easily the ink smears if you accidentally touch it before it dries completely, I don't have the same problem with Staedtlers and Copics.
Tumblr media
My preferred sizes are 0.05 for small details, 0.1 for the main lineart and 0.3 for the thicker outlines. I also like to have at least one 0.7 for when I'm aiming for really substantial lines, but I rarely end up using it.

Toecutter, Mad Max.

Staedtler 308 Pigment Liner Pen, as featured in the #091 ScrawlrBox. - A great pen for writing, sketching and drawing. It’s deep, dark, black pigment ink is both lightfast and waterproof and also won’t bleed when highlighted. The 0.8 size is a nice thickness for outlines as well as being small enough to work some intricate details in. The nib features a long metal tip which is deal for use with rulers for more precise line work. - How did you find this paired with the Copics? . . . . . . . . . . . . #artsupplies #subscriptionbox #artsuppliessubscription #scrawlrbox #artchallenge #scrawlrchallenge #artproducts #inspiration #handmade #artsy #creative #artisfun #creative #artlovers #artaddict #artsuppliesaddict #fineliner #staedtler #blackpen — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/rPQAI9o
