Just finished this illustration of my dragon, Soriene and his adventure loving familiar , they often roam the forest in search of fun nooks to play the lyre in , so as to not disturb the neighbors with the horrible playing
When you accidentally make a found family out of your next novel's characters while doing a character reference study... (Translation: Help... Lelli is way too cute).
Five year difference with the before and after, as Sorien started off more monochromatic and a cooler shade of green, referencing Emeralds if I had to relate him to a mineral at the time. Updated him to try to shift away from my easy monochromatic color schemes and play with what’ll balance out the warmer lime greens. Also color him to resemble minerals, even if the galaxy textures still apply due to how the light catches them. Now reference him to peridot as what mineral he’s related to.
Sorien was kind enough to ask which of their characters I would most like to do a wingit for. c: I don't get the chance to draw nearly enough unique taurs, so I took this as a fun opportunity to draw some Soritaur looking very determined to get somewhere in a hurry! I think the hands gave me the most trouble here, since she has two sets of thumbs on each hand, to mimic the setup of an ungulate limb. Fascinating, but tricky!

Sorens brain: if you’d like to make a call, please hang up and try again, if you need help, hang up and then dial your operator. if you’d like to make a call, please hang up and try again, if you need help, hang up and then dial your operator. if you’d like to make a call, please hang up and try again, if you need help, hang up and then dial your operator...
the problem with writing is that there is a Good Part and you want to put that at the front but there has got to be a lot of information given before you can even get to that and understand it
or at least I tell myself that.
I have a ton of info on Sorien's backstory that I want to bring to light, and as I do, it becomes a lot more clear. But it does not feel fun to me until after hebecomesnon-humanohwait it's the monsterfucker thing isn't it nevermind it's just me
Vadik frowned over his shoulder at Ruyak, and when he turned back to Kaelin, he spoke in Sorien: “Find me when you get to Loske. There’s nothing I can do to help with your father, but there’s someone I’d like you to meet. Someone who would very much like to talk to you.”
“Oh, uh…” Kaelin stammered, thrown by the urgency in Vadik’s tone. She glanced at Ruyak, who couldn’t understand Sorien and was watching the exchange with narrowed eyes. “Isn’t it rude to speak like this in front-”
“Find a guard wearing a pin that looks like this:” Vadik pushed a coin-like object into Kaelin’s hand and closed her fingers around it before she could look. “Not just any guard, a guard with a pin like this one. Tell them your name. They’ll bring you to me.”
“I won’t have much time…”
“I know, I know.” Vadik shook his head roughly, irritated. “Just find me before you leave Loske.”
