The painful thing that dungeon meshi never lets us forget is her absence#Falin would love to dress as a frog...She is meant to be there so much that it is painful. i'm a huge fan of it gets so lonely here because it does a lot of cool things with the narration and multiple playthroughs. her tears were my light does similar things with the multiple playthrough thing and it was the first visual novel to really open my eyes to what the genre could be like! and because apparently today is horror yuri day i will add liar liar and liar liar 2. the artstyle is very cute! and there's blood!
for less horror yuri and more dating sim, i am currently completely obsessed with tokimeki memorial girls side 1-3, the dating sim/visual novel/stat-raising hybrid that inspired a lot of otome games—— and for good reason, too, because it's JUST THAT GOOD. i almost exploded something trying to play the fourth game but i will not let that stop me
in pure visual novel, i have to recommend heartbaked, it was one of those games i played in my free visual novel frenzy when i was younger and it really stuck with me! i still think about the radley ending.
i adore adore adore pacthesis games and i would love to direct you to my number one favourite and inspiration, number days sim date, because the intertwining of plot and romance and friendship was wonderful. xolga and mr toko is more point and click but check those out too

Ironically enough
I do absolutely miss turning around a corner and be met with a sudden piano scare chord telling me I either need to book it or prepare myself to face a pot equipped with a laser while only equipped with a flimsy plank of wood
But that does mean the TotK vibe is indeed much different from the BotW vibe, and that will still make going back to BotW pleasant

ok fr last one but there's actually a bootleg of my school's anastasia and i'm linking it bc you all NEED to understand that my infatuation with this one girl's voice which started when i was in the 6th grade and still hasn't really worn off isn't based on nothing
#brielle's the one in the n95 mask (the video is too grainy to actually make out any of the ensemble's faces but she stands out)#and i'm the in my 'teenage tboy's diy first short haircut' era in every scene she's in#apart from everything abt the girl who plays anya. the tea on everyone else is that our director liked the boy who played gleb's voice so#much that she actually lowered some if not all of his parts to be in his range. the guy who played vlad was a total diva and uhm. the phras#'peaked in high school' has been tossed around at him a lot. and the fact that he came back to sub the year after he graduated isn't helpin#his case. also he pressured the girl who played anya's grandmother into wearing old age makeup + spray her hair grey bc he decided he was#going to wear it and since she's supposed to be older than him she had to too and used to waltz into the girls' changing room whenever he#wanted. everyone was like super shocked during auditions though bc we all thought he was a shoe-in for dimitry esp since seniors get#priority casting bc it's their last chance. but at callbacks (we had singing auditions via video and dance auditions in person and callback#were tacked on to the dance auditions) he kinda flubbed his song and then this freshman. who was with us via google meet bc he literally ha#covid at the time absolutely blew him out of the water and i remember walking away w brielle like 'holy shit [first name] [last name] just#lost a part to a freshman' (he's the kind of person you just have to full name otherwise it sounds wrong). that said i do think he made a#much better vlad then he would've made a dimitry and while he is. a lot. he's always been nice to me and i did briefly idolize him and his#stage presence way i did anya's singing voice but that faded when i got into hs and started actually observing his prima donna ways#(the one production we were in together before in middle school we didn't have any scenes together). the girl who played the grandma#actually shouted me out in cast circle and that's the only time that's ever happened to me. also i'm p sure her dad is/was dating someone m#dad and by extension myself work with so that's. Oh My God. like she (the one who works for my dad) brought him w her to a comedy show as i#think her bf but i'm not 100% sure and when he found out what school i went to he mentioned his daughter went there and despite the fact#that i basically have a script for when people ask me that question bc i do NOT pay attention to most of my fellow students and don't know#anyone i was like 'holy shit' bc i actually did. hm what else. the guy who played the tsar and i used to shittalk bad period dramas#backstage during the first part of act 2. also during the press conference scene i need you to picture all the bolshevik soldiers and#romanov royals doing the macarena behind the curtain bc that was absolutely what we were doing back there. speaking of the press conference#the really high singing w/o a clear source was actually anya standing behind the curtain on the other side of the stage bc she's the only#one who physically could sing the part. also in regards to the bolshevik soldiers. we were originally supposed to have wooden rifles but fo#some reason our director took them out so we had to just walk menacingly towards the romanovs. you can't rlly see me that well in that scen#but that jacket would NOT stay closed and for 2/3 performances i had to awkwardly hold it closed the entire time. luckily the one that was#filmed was the one where i was smart enough to bring safety pins and also saved like all of the ballerinas bc their costumes all started#falling apart at once backstage.#romeo.txt#theatreposting

Brimstone and Treacle sounds like a dessert gone horribly wrong I have to ask.

It makes me giggle how from all the titles you, who from the last time we spoke was adamant against musicals, picked the title that is directly from a musical XD
Brimstone and Treacle, the title, is from the Marry Poppins musical, in which, as an added plot to the story, while Marry is away a new governess shows up to take her place - serving as the opposite to Marry Poppins's "spoon full of sugar" approach.
When Marry returns, they duke it out and, I shit you not, from the sole production I watched this year in London 2022 at the Prince Edward Theatre, a trap door opens and causes this antagonistic governess (Miss Andrew) to descend into what I can only define as a hellish abyss [chef kiss] incredible
Why am I bringing this up? Because this whole side plot, hellish stage direction and governess pvp included, UTTERLY INSPIRED me COMPLETELY to make this fic a reality (hopefully some day soon).
Fic Synopsis -ish:
Set after Hogfather and before Thief of Time, one Susan Sto Helit (who will certainly NOT dance on rooftops with chimney sweeps) thinks about what it means to be a governess, and her Grandfather's question on whether she wouldn't enjoy branching out to more kids.
Time passes, and something happens that causes Susan to leave her governing post abruptly
Shenanigans ensue, something something similarity of Marry Poppins going and coming back = The Duty™
Susan embracing a little more of her Grandfather and certain sides of herself
And basically we watch as Susan goes from goth Marry Poppins to goth Miss Frizzle
Governess pvp included.
This is the gist at least - excited to share a more polished version in the future!!

Was rereading through the Symbiote Host IK tag because I LOVE THAT AU SM
and I was thinking how freaking cute Host IK and the Newspaper Club would be
I feel like IK would be enamored with Wiz's cool hats, so Wiz gets a small tophat for her bear Momo and IK loves it
Mephisto's uncle agenda comes out full force here, he loves being goofy with the baby because she DESERVES to laugh and have fun
I'd imagine they'd meet when IK was comfortable enough to go to RAD, since the brothers thought there'd be stuff she'd find fun there, and when the brothers/royals/purgatrio are too busy to take care of her, she hangs with the Newspaper Club
She is the president of the NPC now I don't make the rules, there should be an entire article on Momo and the andventures he's had at her and Luke's tea parties
I feel like a kaboom moment for Alecto is something with IK talking about her strength ?? SO CUTE UAH UAH UAH
THE SYMBIOTE HOST AU!!!! it's been so long :')
oh alecto would be an absolute star of the show in this au!! she's fully capable of just WRESTLING the symbiote into passiveness whenever it starts getting too big for its boots but is also super gentle with ik (sometimes excessively) and she is always ready to drop everything if her little buddy needs her. some of their scars are in similar places and ik thinks it's super cool!!
wiz is always building little magical gadgets for ik to play with (the brothers are considering dedicating a whole room in the house just to all the stuff ik gets) also she makes a point to save a page in every newspaper issue for the photos ik takes with her little camera... she titles it 'ik's collection' and adds little comments like "such impressive use of lighting!" and "what an eye for flowers!!", and will kill you if you make a nasty comment about them
mephisto is the one who declares ik the new president and will enact every comment she makes as if it's a legal policy. he plays aeroplanes and spaceships and penguins and every other game you can think of with her with absolutely zero shame, makes up a bunch of rhymes to help her remember the stuff lucifer's teaching her, gets back into making up spells just so he can fulfil any of ik's requests
astaroth lets ik ride around on his shoulders while he's wheeling around and also doesn't mind letting her try his glasses, which is one heck of a privilege with him. he's also unexpectedly good at removing ik from scary situations (or else removing the scary factor from the situation) - as soon as ik looks even kind of stressed, he activates like a sleeper agent
#answering asks#whensam#symbiote host ik#alecto and astaroth are both the type to accidentally say mild curses in front of ik#like damn and hell or whatever#astaroth always catches himself but ends up just making it worse by stumbling over his words and then cursing a worse word#meanwhile wiz keeps accidentally using really long technical magical terms when explaining her toys#whenever she does so ik just stares at her like O - O#one time while mammon's taking her out to town to play ik spots the newspaper club on an outing of their own#she spots wiz first (big hat is very recognisable and ik likes it) and shouts for her very excitedly#it's very rare for her to get animated in public but she's never seen the club out of school before this#wiz is in a excellent mood a full month afterwards

#yes i hate story times#our story times are aimed at the preschool set... and the only kids who are coming are the Under Threes#they're not old enough to understand hardly any of the concepts (letters/numbers/colors/sequences and patterns/etc)#they don't have the attention span to sit through even one mf picture book#they mostly don't even have the coordination to do fucking Head Shoulders Knees and Toes#WHAT ARE THEY GETTING OUT OF THIS???????? nothing!!!!! they're dragged there by their moms and the squirm and run and whine and cry#the ENTIRE time and the moms are chatting with each other and letting the kids do whatever#and it's SO FRUSTRATING for US bc we're having to shout over fussing infants and chatty toddlers bc the parents are sooooo self-involved#so the employees are frustrated bc we're doing our regular Dog and Pony Show to a loud and disruptive crowd#and the toddlers are frustrated bc they literally do not have the attention span for this. they aren't there in their development yet#and the moms have started to get Big Mad bc we're limiting how many ppl can be in story time (20 ppl)#so the moms who come too late to get their admission tickets are pissed off that they came all the way to the library for nothing#and other moms are just blasting right past the 'STOP! STORY TIME IS FULL!' sign that we post#and it makes the room even more crowded and loud and awful#one of the behaviors that really cheeses my crackers the most is when they kids are having a picnic buffet during story time#like... they're just standing there. eating their snacks. and staring at us while we do stupid dances and read silly stories and sing songs.#it feels like they're just staring at us like we're a tv show. they could have stayed home for that.#and when the weather is treacherous and moms still show up for story time.... it blows my mind#they really risked life and limb (literally-- we're talking blizzards and ice storms and heavy snow accumulation) so they could play on#their phone for 25 minutes while their toddlers ran around a room and collided with other toddlers while i sang Hot Potato in the background#the wiggles ftw#long tags#whining

like kuukou functions as if this isn’t his story, he’s not the protagonist of it; moving behind the scenes to ensure jyushi gets his chance to shine on stage and affirm himself, pushing hitoya out of the way to take an attack because he probably could sense hitoya needed to be on that stage facing jakurai, following ichiro’s lead and helping when he asks and it’s interesting to see it reinforced so often

I love saying "raised in the restaurant industry (literally)" on Jazz's ref sheet but also You Guys Don't Get It. It's TRUE.
My parents owned a restaurant when I was born, and less than a year later we moved towns so they could open a different one. We lived in the basement of that restaurant and tiny baby me's playroom was back near the big industrial kitchen. Customers knew me before I could even talk bc my parents always wanted to show off their kid. I knew fancy-ass restaurant orders as a toddler bc that was what I was surrounded by.
A few years after that closed and they split, my father opened another restaurant with a separate upstairs living/office area that younger me used to stay in after school until we went home for the night. And I'd hang out in the kitchen and at the bar before/after hours just eating from the line, sitting in the walk-in fridge for fun, and getting drinks from the soda gun.
And THEN he closed that place, moved again, and opened ANOTHER tiny place a handful of years ago, which I ALSO could hang out in whenever I wanted. I'd just walk to the restaurant for lunch instead of eating in the school cafeteria.
My father's always loved being a chef, and my mother's always loved waiting tables. I've had free access to restaurants my whole life. I am THE restaurant baby.
