Shellington is so underrated; he's one of my favourites, so strap in lol

Still autistic, (analysis is out now!) he's had his special interest ever since he was a kid. finding new creatures was his biggest motivator for joining the crew.

With the gup-e being made for Peso specifically, it's also the easiest gup to drive, which is why Shellington can drive it just fine with only a little struggle.

he's really close with both Kwazii and Peso; he hangs out around the sickbay a lot, or will just follow Peso around (sometimes without realizing it). He thinks Kwazii is cool, and likes to talk to him about the possibility of sea monsters. I bet he secretly believes in most of them. (from a scientific pov at least.)

he feels really bad when he messes something up, even if it's small, and will quickly try to make up for it somehow.

Tweak let's him "help" in the engine room when he's feeling down.

he has a hard time identifying when things are awkward, and will blurt things out on accident a lot.

his tendency to not mention important things is because of a combination of intermittent speech and general forgetfulness. plus sometimes he assumes something is common knowledge, when it really really isn't.

him and Dashi are old friends who knew each other growing up. he doesn't like to admit when he doesn't understand something, but if he's really lost, he'll ask her.

Barnacles is very protective over him for several reasons, and I feel like sometimes he notices, and sometimes he doesn't. he doesn't mind though.

this might be a weird one, but the Vegimals are sort of like the equivalent to emotional support animals? which is why he always has at least one with him at all times, especially when he goes out alone. they see him like a dad though.

he misses his sister often. (they always hug whenever they see each other again and I think that's cute)

crabs are one of his favourite creatures, which is why he likes the gup-d so much.
