Lamborghini Miura P400 SV
The Spanish bull referred to as the Miura may have first entered the pop culture lexicon with the publication of Ernest Hemingway's enduring 1926 classic The Sun Also Rises. Hemingway's disaffected expatriates travel to Spain to watch the bullfights, and there they are impressed by the brutal capabilities of the Miura, a creature that is muscular, powerful, lithe, and menacing.Forty years later, Ferruccio Lamborghini introduced his automotive interpretation of the Miura, and in every way the new model lived up to the values of its namesake. Replete with all the grace and power of Pamplona's bulls, the Miura P400 was a revolutionary sports car in every sense, from its transversely positioned mid/rear-mounted V-12 engine, to the sinewy and voluptuous coachwork designed by Bertone's Marcello Gandini. After progressing through the P400 S iteration unveiled at the Geneva Salon in March 1970, the Miura underwent one final development introduced in Geneva a year later. The resulting Miura P400 SV was available by special order only, and the SV (or Spinto Veloce) nomenclature instantly clarified that this was the most mechanically advanced Miura to emerge from Sant' Agata Bolognese.
To accommodate fiercer performance, the chassis was reinforced and the rear suspension was improved with larger wishbones. In combination with the fitting of larger wheels, this resulted in a wider rear track that necessitated sculpting wider rear fenders, adding further muscular character to Gandini’s original design. The proprietary Lamborghini V-12 was further tuned to develop 385 horsepower, a dividend of an additional 15 horsepower over the concurrent P400 S.
Among a combined output of approximately 900 total examples built, the P400 SV was built in a relatively modest quantity of 150 examples, making it the rarest of the three Miura variants. To this day the model remains prized by discerning collectors for its uprated performance and elevated cosmetics, signifiers of the most highly developed and advanced version of Lamborghini’s legendary bull.

First Look: The Lamborghini SC18 by Squadra Corse
Lamborghini Squadra Corse unveils the SC18, the first one-off in the history of the Sant’ Agata Bolognese motorsport division. The car was designed in synergy with the customer and Centro Stile Lamborghini, is road approved but designed primarily for use on the track. The SC18 paves the way to further personalized development projects for motorsport customers under the Squadra Corse brand.
The car features extreme aerodynamics, developed specifically for this model and derived from Squadra Corse’s experience in competition. The racing elements start from the front hood, with air intakes in the style of the Huracán GT3 EVO; the sides and rear feature fenders, fins and airscoops are inspired by the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO. The aerodynamic system is completed by a large carbon fiber wing with three mechanical adjustments, able to generate the optimal downforce on any circuit. In addition, the twelve air intakes formed on the rear hood - a solution already tested successfully in endurance races - increase heat exchange and improve the cooling of the V12 engine.
The powertrain is top-of-the-line Lamborghini, delivering the performance of a true racing car: the aspirated 6498 cm3 V12 delivers 770 hp at 8,500 rpm and a torque of 720 Nm at 6,750 rpm, all handled via the ISR (Independent Shifting Rod) optimized seven-speed gearbox. The huge power is combined with reduced weight thanks to the use of ultralight materials and the new carbon fiber body, with ground clearance of just 109 mm. The rear is characterized by the specific exhausts and terminals with a unique design and sound.
The exclusiveness of the SC18 is underlined by the color of the carbon fiber body in the Grigio Daytona (grey), with visible details and red screen-printing to enhance its sportiness. The cockpit features interiors in Nero Ade (black) Alcantara with cross-stitching in Rosso Alala (red), and carbon fiber bucket seats. The look is completed by the single nut wheels, 20” on the front and 21” on the rear, with specially developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires and a telemetry system to measure all aspects of performance on the track.

Why The Cizeta V16T Failed To Storm The US As Promised | HotCars

Why The Cizeta V16T Failed To Storm The US As Promised | HotCars
Tumblr media
Supercars are symbols of desires. We dream of owning a single, driving one, and even the thought of getting in one of these shouting speed machines is interesting enough. Some rare, skilled souls may dream of designing one particular, or if they get actually ambitious, building one from the beginning, materializing their own engineering philosophies, and proudly christening their particular creation with their own logo.
History is created by dream chasers. A brief history of supercars though, is mostly published by those who failed. Let's encounter it, we're talking about the billionaire's multi-hundred-horsepower gas-burning plaything, not an average garage-based task.
From time to time, there is news of an unknown small-volume manufacturer launching a sportscar of some sort, which are mainly forgotten in a rather limited time. However , if you were a good ex-Lamborghini engineer, teamed up by having an Italian design legend, plus funded by a king associated with disco music, you might have the slightly different fate.
Let's have a closer look at the 1989 Cizeta V16T.
Tumblr media
Like many sportscar stories or equally spectacular Hollywood crime movies, this started with an ambitious Italian language guy leaving his country and starting an adding business in the States. Claudio Zampolli, a former Lamborghini test and development engineer, moved to Los Angeles after making his role in Sant' Agata Bolognese. He was thriving together with his business of importing functionality exotics, but his desire creating his own supercar failed to fade away.
Along with plenty of cash flowing within from his Maserati car dealership, Zampolli took the bet and formed the Cizeta Moroder Motors. 'Cizeta' may be the Italian pronunciation of Zampolli's proud initial, C. Unces. (unfortunately pronounced as 'cheese-eater in English). The 'Moroder' part came from 4-time Grammy Awards winner Giorgio Moroder.
As the dramatic tale went on, Zampolli had hired the famed composer at the rear of I Feel Love as a financial dionysus of the supercar project. An extremely unusual source of funding, but Moroder was happy to invest, to the stage he owned 50% from the company's shares. A nice bit of storytelling for attracting would-be.
With the money ready, Zampolli assembled a good all-ex-Lamborghini team of veteran technical engineers to develop and build their own supercar, the V16T. They will even had their creation facilities set up in Modena, the particular Italian town where Ferrari was founded. As Zampolli once stated, "You can't build a Comes Royce in Japan, inch which made Modena an unavoidable choice.
Following up Zampolli would have to cope with the exterior design, and what this individual brought in was probably the most exciting shapes penned with a legend at the top of his online game.
RELATED: ten Things Everyone Forgot Regarding Lamborghini
Tumblr media
The V16T being a brainchild of a group of ex-Lamborghini engineers, had been mated to a very Lambo-ish bodywork, or let's say, the Gandini-ish bodywork. This was because the V16T's appearance was designed by Marcello Gandini, the particular genius who penned the Lamborghini Miura , Countach , Alfa Romeo Montreal , Lancia Stratos, and many other timeless crazy styles.
Back then, Lamborghini was purchased by The chrysler. The new owner of the Italian language marque continued to fee Gandini to design its following V12 mid-engined flagship, the particular Diablo. However , the original style was rejected by The chrysler. The American owners considered it was 'too aggressive'.
Worth wondering precisely why 'being too aggressive' has been ever a concern for Lamborghini. Anyway, the rest was background. The sketches by Gandini that was supposed to be the Diablo went to Cizeta, showing the planet how an Italian quickness machine would look with no all the corporate limitations.
Like many of Gandini's creations, the Cizeta V16T was a mean-looking wedge. The particular cabin sat so forwards like a prototype racer. The particular roofline continued smoothly following the roof, and it was from the rear spoiler through a massive glass canopy, unlike the particular straight, sharp-cut rear home window normally fitted to mid-engined sports activities cars of the era.
The side profile is better represented by the very '80-ish scoops, as well as Gandini's personal slanting rear wheel mid-foot. Pop-up headlights are awesome. Therefore the Cizeta offered four of them, put together in an outrageous stacking arrangement. That is a few sub-zero coolness no one provides ever imagined. Inside, the particular Cizeta offered nothing but '80s vibe. The colored buckskin upholstery, padded seats, plus flashy buttons would all of the look good in a Miami Vice scene.

Tumblr media
Few people would suggest the V12 is not big enough. But Zampolli insisted anything bearing his name ought to pack a powerplant the dimensions of a cow. This provided birth to a gargantuan beast, a 6. 0-liter V16 engine, good for 540bhp on 8000rpm and 400 lb-ft of torque at 6000rpm. Sufficient to push the 1 ) 7-tonne, 4. 5-meter-long, plus 2-meter-wide beast to 204mph. 0-60mph could be done in four seconds.
The particular huge, high-revving V16 motor could probably generate the own force field. To assist in better handling, engineers choose to keep the center of gravity at the center of the car. Because of this, the ex-Lambo veterans held the Miura and Countach's tradition of fitting the particular engine transversely. As a result, you might say the Cizeta is really a spiritual successor to the V12 Lamborghinis.
RELATED: Below is Why The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster Is Worth More than $500, 000
Tumblr media
Launched in 1989, the Cizeta eventually started production within 1991, priced at an eye-watering $400, 000 (in 1991's money). Over that 2 yrs, there were only 7 purchases, but investment in the task has surpassed $2 mil.
Moroder, consequently , withdrew from the business, additional damaging the brand's status, which at the first place has been built partly from the composer's fame. There was more poor news as the V16T failed to reach USA emission plus safety regulations. With its main market gone, the Cizeta dream also quietly ended.
It is considered that a total of nine cars were produced. The particular Sultan of Brunei acquired three because he wanted to. Strangely enough, one of his three vehicles was left in a Singaporean dealer, untouched since it had been delivered fresh from Modena in 1993. It was refurbished and sold for $665, 000 in RM Sotheby's Arizona auction earlier this year .

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Xago debuts – hexagon-themed limited-edition model; only 10 units planned
This is the new Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Xago, a special edition model that draws inspiration from the carmaker’s obsession with hexagons, which is also the shape of the clouds at the north pole on the planet Saturn, so there’s a fun fact for you.
Built to showcase the depth of Lamborghini’s Ad Personam personalisation department, only 10 units will be offered to customers, with each being identified by a numbered plate and some unique design elements.
These include a specially-created fading hexagonal silver effect for the car’s body, which is complemented by a unique Ad Personam contrast colour accents for each car and gloss black Nireo rims. The interior continues “the iconic hexagonita theme in Lamborghini design,” with an exclusive seat pattern and contrast stitching to match the exterior.
Beyond the aesthetics, everything else remains unchanged. Power comes from a 6.5 litre naturally-aspirated V12 engine that serves up 770 PS (759 hp) at 8,500 rpm and 720 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm, which is paired with a seven-speed Independent Shifting Road (ISR) gearbox and a fourth-generation Haldex four-wheel drive system.
The rare convertible is being introduced alongside the virtual Ad Personam studio, which is moving online as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. This allows customers to pre-book an initial consultation to personalise their new Lamborghini, which will be done via video conferencing, with full support from specialists.
While being able to do the same thing on-site makes for a more immersive experience, the current state of the world makes travelling between borders a challenge, requiring such an option. Additionally, some customers may prefer not to travel to the department in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy, so this provides an alternative.
“Lamborghini is always thinking dynamically about the best solutions to challenges, and our new virtual Ad Personam studio consultations have been carefully devised to support clients who, in times where we are all cautious about international travel, still want the special, one-to-one experience of creating an entirely personalised car,” said Giovanni Perosino, chief commercial officer of Automobili Lamborghini.
“We still look forward to welcoming clients to Sant’ Agata Bolognese in the future but we expect more than 150 Ad Personam consultations to take place virtually within this year, and continuing as an option for the future. With the support of our dealers worldwide, who also have significant personalisation experience and of course, samples and materials in their own dealerships, we have the exciting opportunity in an increasingly digital age to create one-off Lamborghini models virtually,” he added.
The Ad Personam programme was first introduced in 2013, with the studio dedicated to it opening its doors in 2016. According to Lamborghini, more than 50% of cars coming off its production line feature at least one Ad Personam detail, a percentage that has tripled over the last three years, with the United States, Asia and the United Kingdom being the biggest markets.

Lamborghini Gallardo - The Raging Bull!
Ferruccio Lamborghini was a very successful business man who owned various businesses although his main line of business was building and selling tractors. Ferruccio's philosophy was to work hard in the morning and enjoy himself in the afternoon. One day while racing his Ferrari with his close friend Enzo Ferrari he told him that he didn't quite think that his car was good enough! Enzo took it the wrong way and replied "what would you know about building sports cars, you only know how to build tractors"? Ferruccio felt insulted and decided to build himself his own sports cars. At first everybody laughed at his big ideas. But in 1963 he opened his state of the art factory in Sant' Agata in Bolognese about 25km from Bologna.
Tumblr media
Ferruccio Lamborghini's love of bulls was so strong that he would often visit Don Eduardo Miura who was the owner of a famous bull ranch in the region of Seville and who bred several species. It was this passion that led him to name several of his cars after various breeds of bull which were reared on this ranch. In 1966 at The Geneva Motor Show an early prototype car called the P400S received so much attention that it went in to production under a different name as the Miura a 4 litre car with 280 bhp which is named after a savage breed of Bull bred by Don Eduardo Miura himself, and several variations followed including the SV Concept, Roadster, SV, and the Jota A replacement for the Miura was to become the Islero 400GT and Islero 400GTS a 2+2 coupe which was built between 1968 and 1969 and was named after the bull that killed the famous matador Manolete in 1947.
The Espada which is the Spanish word for Sword appeared in 1968 at the Geneva motor show and was designed by Marcello Gandini of Bertone the famous car designer who designed several cars for Lamborghini Other cars which had names related to bull fighting were the Jalpa which made its debut at the Geneva Auto Show in 1981 and was named after a breed of bull. In 1990 Diablo was named after a famous bull fight in 1869 when the Duke of Veragua's raging bull was in an epic battle with El Chicorro.
Some of the more modern supercars of this era include the Muircéilago who was named after the legendary bull in 1879 whose life was spared by Matador El Lagartijo for his amazing performance in the arena and who survived more than 28 strokes from the estoc at this point the matador decided to spare it its life which is very unusual in bull fighting. Gallardo was the name of one of five famous castles of the fighting bull breed, and in 1943 the Reventon was named after the famous bull that took the life of the Mexican torero Félix Guzmán, and finally the 2008 concept car called the Estoque which is named after the estoc or sword in English language which is used to kill the bull in contest.
Although there was one very special Lamborghini supercar which wasn't connected to the name of any bull or bullfighting but could quite possibly be referred to as Madonna herself. This was of course the Countach, this came about when famous car designer Giuseppe Bertone first set eyes on the car. He was almost speechless except for one word which he managed to utter! This word was of course Countach which is often said as an act of astonishment and quite often used by Piedmontese men when they first set eyes on a beautiful woman.
