First ever ship: Genuinely could not tell you; I can barely remember when I first watched certain series/movies, let alone which one I may have started shipping in first. Uhh...maybe Ed/Winry from FMA? I remember checking that out from my hometown library as a youth, so that’s probably as close as it gets.

(Also, after having started working as an editor for a medical journal, it’s kind of funny to me how much less grisly all the “corpses” seem now. Look at gnarly photos of surgical wounds on the daily for work and you develop a stronger stomach; who knew?)

Para chegar aos deuses do panteão grego, antes é necessário falar sobre seus antecessores e os que vinheram antes, os primordiais.

na cultura helenística, o mito da criação começa com Caos, representado a desordem e o nada, era uma divindade cósmica; após ele, veio Gaia, a terra; Pontos, a personificação dos oceanos, Hemera, como o dia, e Nix, como a personificação da noite. Tártaro e Urano também fazem parte dessa leva.

 NIX, de acordo com alguns mitos, foi a segunda deusa a surgir, logo após Caos; outros a tratam como irmã gêmea de Érebo, sendo ele a escuridão e ela a noite, sozinha Nix deu origem a outros seres que estão associados a noite, como o deus Hipnos(deus do bom sono), Thanatos o deus da morte pacífica e Morfeu, e o caronte, ser que guia as almas após sua morte. Com Érebo, Nix concebeu Hemera, a deusa do dia.

A deusa da noite, dado todo seu poder e controle foi vista e reconhecida como deusa  das trevas e da morte, também ficou conhecida como defensora das bruxas e das feiticeiras, entre os outros títulos que acompanham se pode citar: deusa dos terrores da noite, deusa dos segredos noturnos, rainha dos astros da noite, e rainha da vida e da morte tanto de humanos quanto para deuses.

Nix, mesmo com toda imponência e poder, é uma deusa geralmente pacífica, que se mantem oculta por seu manto se contentando em observar os mundos. 

 Dentro do universo de Rick Riordan, a deusa surge no livro “A Casa de Hades”, no livro ela não é tão pacífica, como mitologicamente citada. 

 Ao anunciar seu décimo álbum de estúdio, intitulado “midnigths”Taylor disse: “Ficamos acordados no amor e no medo, tumultuamos e choramos. Nós olhamos para as paredes e bebemos até que eles respondam. Nós nos torcemos em nossas gaiolas feitas por nós mesmos e rezamos para que não estejamos – neste minuto – prestes a cometer algum erro fatal que altere a vida“ e completa: “Esta é uma coleção de músicas escritas no meio da noite, uma jornada através de terrores e doces sonhos. Os andares que andamos e os demônios que enfrentamos. Para todos nós que jogamos e viramos e decidimos manter as lanternas acesas e ir procurar – esperando que talvez, quando o relógio bater meia-noite… nos encontremos.” 

O álbum apresenta uma estética noturna, e Taylor afirmou que se tratava de uma coletânea escrita sob treze noites. Músicas como: would’ve could’ve should’ve, que descrevem sentimentos que vem perturbar o sono, como se a própria deusa lançasse seu manto para lembrar o eu-lírico de suas dores e temores.

Single contará ainda com um clipe inédito chamando a atenção para questões que envolvem a saúde mental dos homens e masculinidade tóxica No mês da campanha “Setembro Amarelo”, iniciativa da Associação Brasileira de Psiquiatria (ABP) para prevenção ao suicídio, o cantor MERACHI traz ao público seu mais novo single intitulado “Homem”. A canção, prevista para lançamento no dia 29 de setembro em todas as plataformas digitais, contará posteriormente, ainda sem data definida, com um clipe em seu canal oficial no YouTube. A produção será repleta de mensagens fortes, que chamam a atenção para questões como a saúde mental dos homens e dos diversos paradigmas criados pela sociedade. MERACHI explica que no processo criativo do novo trabalho, algumas ideias centrais deram o norte para o resultado final. “Ao compor essa música, meu objetivo era evidenciar a vulnerabilidade masculina e em como os homens lidam com seus sentimentos, mostrando a necessidade de falar sobre eles, pois sabemos que homens também podem e devem ser frágeis e chorar”, diz o cantor. Outro ponto interessante é que na roteirização do clipe, a música se conecta com a história de um homem que repassa ensinamentos errôneos para as gerações futuras, criando uma dinâmica de “aluno e professor”. Ironicamente, o áudio presente na música é do próprio pai do cantor, Marcelo Souto Maior, que enviou a mensagem real e despretensiosa numa conversa via whatsapp, sem saber que depois viria a ser parte da música. Com uma estética seguindo a linha preto e branco, inspirada no filme SinCity, o clipe apresenta cenas em referência a filmes como Donnie Darko e outras produções como de “Jeremy”, da banda Pearl Jam; além de “Another Brick in The Wall” do Pink Floyd. O projeto é assinado pelo diretor Sama e tem a produção geral de Geise Calvo e da produção artística de Barbara Dib. Vale enfatizar que o papel do professor é interpretado pelo próprio artista, e dos alunos, por amigos pessoais e parceiros como Juliano Poeta, Caio Moraes, Flavio Giusti, Saymon Veiga, Yuri Raphael, Luca Scarpelli, Tadeu Campos e Ivan Zeredo. Além das participações no próprio clipe, a música contará com um clipe alternativo e participações de alguns dos maiores nomes da mídia nacional. O cantor aproveita para destacar algumas mensagens que vão além da musicalidade do projeto. “É importante falarmos sobre alguns conceitos que precisam mudar, como a ideia de que homem não chora e não pode ser frágil. O clipe tem ‘alerta de gatilho’ por conter cenas fortes, mas é muito artístico e segue o manual da OMS de prevenção ao suicidio. Por isso, a necessidade de enxergarmos esse paradigma por outro ângulo e solucionar questões sociais que por muitas vezes se tornaram extremamente nocivas aos homens e, consequentemente, a todos e todas à sua volta”, acrescenta o artista. MERACHI conclui fazendo um alerta: “Acredito que essa música pode estimular homens a falarem sobre seus sentimentos, inclusive usando uma ferramenta pública que é o Centro de Valorização da Vida (CVV), através do número 188. Nessa época da campanha Setembro Amarelo, é uma ótima oportunidade através da arte para salvar vidas e buscar soluções para dores do inconsciente”. Salon Auto Sport de Quebec Celebrates 50th Anniversary

I doubt very much that when the Piston Poppers Car Club introduced custom car shows to Montreal and Quebec City anyone of them thought the shows would still be around fifty years later. Yes there were other shows before, but none in the grand scale of the Piston Popper’s celebrations.

Today the Salon Auto Sport de Quebec [city] is the province’s oldest continuously running indoor car show. It has succeeded where others died, it has withstood changing trends and transcended generations of car enthusiasts, and this year was no exception, bringing in people of all ages.

Three years ago, with his eyes set on retirement, Mr. Jacques Picard who had partnered with founding Piston Popper member Aurele Collette pictured below fifth from left sold the show to the region’s drag race promoter Martin D’Anjou who seems prepared to carry it for the next few decades.

Stealing the show were the three handcrafted beauties from Rick Dore’s stable of creativity, the Illusion (above,forefront) the Black Pearl (the show’s poster child) and the Shangri-La, below.

Our old friend Apostolis, better known as,  “Spanky” of V8 Custom Guitars (left) recently joined forces with Rick Dore of RD Kustoms fame to create two wild guitars. Spanky’s wood carved creations capture the cars’ features down to the minutest detail and pay homage to Rick’s rolling works of art. While still in rough form they were unveiled for the first time at the show to tease show goers of what to expect.

Martin D’Anjou commissioned The Black Pearl inspired guitar to be auctioned off later this year with the proceeds going to the Quebec Cancer Foundation and Rick Dore hopes to sell the Illusion to whoever buys the car, which will also go on sale later this year.

It’s been six years since I first met Jean-Francois Launier (above left with yours truly) in Detroit. He stopped by the Adrenaline booth to chat and sign some autographs. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, let me quickly just say he is Canada’s foremost custom coach builder and only the second Canadian to win the prestigious Ridler Award. The Ridler is given only to the crème-de-la-crème of builders and JF was on the short list twice before winning it with outrageous ’64 Buick Riviera, taking the trophy back to home to Osoyoos BC. (you can catch his journey to the Ridler in Klassic Plus issue #3)

I kept hearing K.I.T.T. calling my name all weekend. The star of Knight Rider was one of the cars in a movie/tv show cars display.

After hearing my name being callled by K.I.T.T. I began looking for Daisy Duke after seeing her Jeep, but no such luck.

The other top hitter at the show was JF Launier’s latest show stopper, an Acadian Canso. That’s a Canuck version of Chevrolet’s Nova.
