Lt. Commander Richard Byrd testing the glasses he planned to use during his flight over the North Pole. He sailed from New York on the S.S. Chantier on April 1, 1926. With him is Dr. Daniel O'Brien of John Hopkins University, who acted as a medical aid on the expedition. When Byrd returned, he became a national hero.

This is your reminder that the alleged diary of Admiral Richard Byrd, which supposedly describes his trip into the hollow earth, claims that the hollow earth beings call themselves the "Arianni," speak a German-sounding language, and have swastikas on their aircrafts. And they're supposed to be the good guys.
Said diary was only """discovered""" after Byrd's death, BTW.
In other words, the "diary" of Admiral Richard Byrd is Nazi-sympathizing bullshit.

Three ticker-tape parades celebrated Admiral Byrd, including this one in 1930 after an expedition to Antarctica. Credit...Underwood Archives/Getty Images
To anyone in America in the 1930s and the decades that followed, Adm. Richard E. Byrd’s name was attached to the extreme limits of human exploration in the uncharted Antarctic. His exploits to the so-called White Continent played out in breathless newspaper coverage in real time: “Byrd, in Isolation, Reports Blizzard.”

General reminder that if somebody reads the "diary" allegedly written by Admiral Richard Byrd and doesn't find it all at suspicious or concerning that the underground people Byrd supposedly met were "Nordic" in appearance, spoke with a "German" accent, used the swastika as their symbol, and called themselves the "Arianni," you should be side-eyeing that person pretty hard.

Wait, Byrd said he had to go out to the base in Antarctica alone because to go with other men would incur the 'almost inescapable suspicion of homosexuality'?
What sort of bullshit is that? I suspect that's just totally dramatic, self-serving nonsense, but that sure is a strange line of argument.
