Bob Marley: One Love (2024)

Bob Marley: One Love has several scenes with bright cameras flashing from all directions. It is difficult to predict when these scenes are about to happen, but one of them is the very first scene of the movie. There is one scene with rapid-firing weapons at night, with bright muzzle flashes that also create a strobe effect.

There are two shots where the camera orbits someone, but outside of these two shots, all of the camera work is either stationary or very smooth.

Flashing Lights: 8/10. Motion Sickness: 1/10.

“Bob Marley: One Love” Opens Feb. 14, 2024

- “Now is the time for the story of our father, Bob Marley, to be represented in a biopic,” Ziggy Marley says

The words “based on a true story” feature prominently in the trailer for “Bob Marley: One Love.” And while this often signals artistic license and/or dramatization are afoot, Ziggy Marley vouches for the film.

“Nothing happens before its time and now is the time for the story of our father, Bob Marley, to be represented in a biopic theatrical release coming in 2024,” Ziggy Marley said in a statement.

“You’ve heard the music and you think you know the man. But do you really understand what he went through and what moments shaped him into the person he became?”

Starring Kingsley Ben-Adir in the titular role and Lashana Lynch as Rita Marley; directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green; and produced in partnership with Marley family, “One Love” opens Feb. 14, 2024.

The trailer tracks Marley’s musical and political rise, leading to the 1976 attempt on his life and a man wallowing in self-doubt even while receiving worldwide adulation.

“With this release, we look forward to inspiring not only the long-time fans but also the younger generation, giving them a vehicle that opens the door to explore Bob’s life and music and in so doing expand his universal message of unification, justice and peace throughout the earth,” Ziggy Marley said.

Lashana Lynch To Play Rita Marley In Bob Marley Paramount Biopic

Following another lengthy casting search, sources tell Deadline that Lashana Lynch has been tapped to play Bob Marley’s wife, Rita, in the untitled Bob Marley pic for Paramount. Kingsley Ben-Adir has been set to portray the legendary Reggae singer with King Richard director Reinaldo Marcus Green helming.

Similar to the casting of Bob, a large net was cast when it came to finding the right person to play Rita including looking to find someone with Jamaican descent (Lynch was born in England but her family comes from Jamaica). Following several tests including chemistry reads with Ben-Adir, Lynch not only won over execs but also Rita and the Marley family, who all gave their blessing to the casting.
