Jeroboam’s Son Dies
1 At that time Jeroboam’s son Abijah became very sick. 2 So Jeroboam said to his wife, “Go to Shiloh. Go to see the prophet Ahijah. He is the one who said I would become king of Israel. But dress yourself so people won’t know you are my wife. 3 Give the prophet ten loaves of bread, some cakes and a jar of honey. Then ask him what will happen to our son. And he will tell you.” 4 So the king’s wife did as he said. She went to Ahijah’s home in Shiloh.
Now Ahijah was very old and had become blind. 5 But the Lord had said to him, “Jeroboam’s son is sick. So Jeroboam’s wife is coming to ask you about him. When she arrives, she will pretend to be someone else.” Then the Lord told Ahijah what to say.
6 When Ahijah heard her walking to the door, he said, “Come in, wife of Jeroboam. Why are you pretending to be someone else? I have bad news for you. 7 Go back and tell Jeroboam that this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Jeroboam, I chose you from among all the people of Israel. I made you the leader of my people. 8 I took the kingdom away from David’s family. And I gave it to you. But you are not like my servant David. He always obeyed my commands. He followed me with all his heart. He did only the things I said were right. 9 But you have done more evil things than anyone who ruled before you. You have quit following me. You have made other gods and idols of metal. This has made me very angry. 10 So I will bring disaster to the family of Jeroboam. I will kill all of the men in your family, both slaves and free men. I will destroy your family as completely as fire burns up manure. 11 Anyone from your family who dies in the city will be eaten by dogs. And anyone from your family who dies in the fields will be eaten by the birds. The Lord has spoken!’”
12 Then Ahijah said to Jeroboam’s wife, “Now go home. When you enter your city gate, your son will die. 13 All Israel will be sad for him and bury him. He will be the only one of Jeroboam’s family who will be buried. This is because he is the only one in Jeroboam’s family who pleased the Lord, the God of Israel.
14 “The Lord will put a new king over Israel. That king will destroy Jeroboam’s family. This will happen soon. 15 Then the Lord will punish Israel. The people of Israel will be like grass moving in the water. The Lord will pull up Israel from this good land. This is the land he gave their ancestors. But he will scatter Israel beyond the Euphrates River. This will happen because the Lord is angry with the people. They made him angry when they made idols to worship Asherah. 16 Jeroboam sinned, and then he made the people of Israel sin. So the Lord will let the people of Israel be defeated.”
17 Then Jeroboam’s wife traveled back to Tirzah. When she entered her home, the boy died. 18 They buried him. And all Israel had a time of sadness for him. This happened as the Lord said it would. The Lord had said these things through his servant, the prophet Ahijah.
19 Everything else Jeroboam did is written down. He fought wars and continued to rule the people. It is all written in the book of the history of the kings of Israel. 20 Jeroboam ruled as king for 22 years. Then he died, and his son Nadab became king in his place.
The Death of Rehoboam
21 Solomon’s son Rehoboam was 41 years old when he became king of Judah. His mother was Naamah from the land of Ammon. Rehoboam ruled in Jerusalem for 17 years. (The Lord had chosen that city from all the land of Israel. He chose to be worshiped there.)
22 The people of Judah did what the Lord said was wrong. The people’s sins made the Lord very angry at them. They made the Lord even more angry than their ancestors had done. 23 The people built stone pillars and places to worship false gods and Asherah idols. They built them on every high hill and under every green tree. 24 There were even male prostitutes at the places of worship to the gods. The people who had lived in the land before the Israelites had done many evil things. And God had taken the land away from them. Now the people of Judah were doing the same evil things.
25 During the fifth year Rehoboam was king, Shishak attacked Jerusalem. Shishak was king of Egypt. 26 He took the treasures from the Temple of the Lord and the king’s palace. He took everything, even the gold shields Solomon had made. 27 So King Rehoboam made bronze shields to put in their place. He gave them to the men who were guarding the palace gates. 28 Whenever the king went to the Temple of the Lord, the guards carried the shields. After they were finished, they put the shields back in the guardroom.
29 Everything else King Rehoboam did is written down. It is in the book of the history of the kings of Judah. 30 Rehoboam and Jeroboam were always fighting a war with each other. 31 Rehoboam died and was buried with his ancestors in Jerusalem. His mother was Naamah from Ammon. And Rehoboam’s son Abijam became king in his place. — 1 Kings 14 | International Children’s Bible (ICB) The Holy Bible, International Children’s Bible® Copyright© 1986, 1988, 1999, 2015 by Thomas Nelson. No one has mentioned Abijah Fowler's literal name means God is my father. And since Mizu is looking for her dad, like is that a coincidence or are the writers actually telling us he's her dad?
Abijah in the Bible/Old Testament:
The son and successor of Rehoboam, king of Judah (II Chronicles 12:16, 13), who reigned about two years (c. 915–913 bc).
Anyway as someone who shares a name that has the same root word in Hebrew, can't help but think there's a connection there. Lol

The First Book of Kings recounts the historical period from the arrival of King Solomon to the throne of Israel until the reign of Jehoshaphat in Judah and Ahaziah in Israel, a period in the history of God's people that lasted almost 150 years. The book begins by recounting the most glorious era in the history of Israel, but then exposes the beginning of the progressive decline by recounting how the Kingdom of Solomon was divided into two; the Kingdom of Judah where Solomon's son, Rehoboam, ruled, and the Kingdom of Israel where Jeroboam, an officer of Solomon, governed. But it happened that Jeroboam did what is evil in the eyes of God by imposing in Israel the cult of the Golden Calf, and thus, in addition to the political schism, a religious schism occurred. And it was for this reason that God admonished Jeroboam's wife through the prophet Ahijah when she went to visit him, warning her that not only would the duration of his dynasty be short, but also that this would also bring about, as a consequence of Israel's idolatry, the destruction of the entire kingdom, and so Ahijah prophesied: "The LORD will strike Israel, so that it will be like a reed swaying in the water. He will uproot Israel from his good land that he gave to their ancestors and scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they aroused the LORD's anger by making Asherah poles. And he will give Israel up because of the sins Jeroboam has committed and has caused Israel to commit" 1 Kings 14:15-16. The prediction of Ahijah is a reminder that the peace and the secure life are not blessings for fools but for God-fearing men, because there is a teaching in the Bible that has always been fulfilled unfailingly: "For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction" Psalm 1:6.

Christmas Day - Vigil Mass
(see also Midnight Mass, Mass at Dawn and Mass during the Day)
(Liturgical Colour: White)
(Readings for the Vigil Mass, celebrated during the afternoon or evening before Christmas Day)
First Reading
Isaiah 62:1–5
The Lord delights in you.
For Zion’s sake I will not be silent,    for Jerusalem’s sake I will not be quiet, until her vindication shines forth like the dawn    and her victory like a burning torch.
Nations shall behold your vindication,    and all the kings your glory; you shall be called by a new name    pronounced by the mouth of the LORD. You shall be a glorious crown in the hand of the LORD,    a royal diadem held by your God.    No more shall people call you “Forsaken,”    or your land “Desolate,” but you shall be called “My Delight,”    and your land “Espoused.” For the LORD delights in you    and makes your land his spouse. As a young man marries a virgin,    your Builder shall marry you; and as a bridegroom rejoices in his bride    so shall your God rejoice in you.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm
Psalm 89:4–5, 16–17, 27, 29
R/ Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
I have made a covenant with my chosen one,    I have sworn to David my servant: forever will I confirm your posterity    and establish your throne for all generations.
R/ Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
Blessed the people who know the joyful shout;    in the light of your countenance, O LORD, they walk. At your name they rejoice all the day,    and through your justice they are exalted.
R/ Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
He shall say of me, “You are my father,    my God, the rock, my savior.” Forever I will maintain my kindness toward him,    and my covenant with him stands firm.
R/ Forever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
Second Reading
Acts of the Apostles 13:16–17, 22–25
Paul bears witness to Christ, the Son of David.
When Paul reached Antioch in Pisidia and entered the synagogue, he stood up, motioned with his hand, and said, “Fellow Israelites and you others who are God-fearing, listen. The God of this people Israel chose our ancestors and exalted the people during their sojourn in the land of Egypt. With uplifted arm he led them out of it. Then he removed Saul and raised up David as king; of him he testified, ‘I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will carry out my every wish.’ From this man’s descendants God, according to his promise, has brought to Israel a savior, Jesus. John heralded his coming by proclaiming a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel; and as John was completing his course, he would say, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. Behold, one is coming after me; I am not worthy to unfasten the sandals of his feet.’”

The genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David.
The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
Abraham became the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers. Judah became the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar. Perez became the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram, Ram the father of Amminadab. Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab. Boaz became the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth. Obed became the father of Jesse, Jesse the father of David the king.
David became the father of Solomon, whose mother had been the wife of Uriah. Solomon became the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asaph. Asaph became the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Uzziah. Uzziah became the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah. Hezekiah became the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amos, Amos the father of Josiah. Josiah became the father of Jechoniah and his brothers at the time of the Babylonian exile.
After the Babylonian exile, Jechoniah became the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, Zerubbabel the father of Abiud. Abiud became the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor, Azor the father of Zadok. Zadok became the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud, Eliud the father of Eleazar. Eleazar became the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Christ.
Thus the total number of generations from Abraham to David is fourteen generations; from David to the Babylonian exile, fourteen generations; from the Babylonian exile to the Christ, fourteen generations.
Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit. Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,    and they shall name him Emmanuel,
which means “God is with us.” When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home. He had no relations with her until she bore a son, and he named him Jesus.

First Reading
Isaiah 9:1–6
A son is given us.
The people who walked in darkness    have seen a great light; upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom    a light has shone. You have brought them abundant joy    and great rejoicing, as they rejoice before you as at the harvest,    as people make merry when dividing spoils.    For the yoke that burdened them,    the pole on their shoulder, and the rod of their taskmaster    you have smashed, as on the day of Midian.    For every boot that tramped in battle,    every cloak rolled in blood,    will be burned as fuel for flames. For a child is born to us, a son is given us;    upon his shoulder dominion rests. They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero,    Father-Forever, Prince of Peace. His dominion is vast    and forever peaceful, from David’s throne, and over his kingdom,    which he confirms and sustains by judgment and justice,    both now and forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this!

R/ Today is born our Savior, Christ the Lord.
Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice;    let the sea and what fills it resound;    let the plains be joyful and all that is in them! Then shall all the trees of the forest exult.

They shall exult before the LORD, for he comes;    for he comes to rule the earth. He shall rule the world with justice    and the peoples with his constancy.

Luke 2:1–14
Today a Savior has been born for you.
In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town. And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.    While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.    Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock. The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear. The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:
“Glory to God in the highest    and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

The shepherds found Mary and Joseph and the infant.
When the angels went away from them to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go, then, to Bethlehem to see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them.

Hebrews 1:1–6
God has spoken to us through the Son.
Brothers and sisters: In times past, God spoke in partial and various ways to our ancestors through the prophets; in these last days, he has spoken to us through the Son, whom he made heir of all things and through whom he created the universe,
who is the refulgence of his glory,    the very imprint of his being,    and who sustains all things by his mighty word. When he had accomplished purification from sins,    he took his seat at the right hand of the Majesty on high, as far superior to the angels    as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.
For to which of the angels did God ever say:
“You are my son; this day I have begotten you”?
Or again:
“I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me”?
And again, when he leads the firstborn into the world, he says:
“Let all the angels of God worship him.”

John 1:1–18
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
In the beginning was the Word,    and the Word was with God,    and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came to be through him,    and without him nothing came to be. What came to be through him was life,    and this life was the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness,    and the darkness has not overcome it.
A man named John was sent from God. He came for testimony, to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to testify to the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
He was in the world,    and the world came to be through him,    but the world did not know him. He came to what was his own,    but his own people did not accept him.
But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born not by natural generation nor by human choice nor by a man’s decision but of God.
And the Word became flesh    and made his dwelling among us,    and we saw his glory,    the glory as of the Father’s only Son,    full of grace and truth.
John testified to him and cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘The one who is coming after me ranks ahead of me because he existed before me.’” From his fullness we have all received, grace in place of grace, because while the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. The only Son, God, who is at the Father’s side, has revealed him.

1 Kings 12:20-13:34, Acts 9:26-43, Psalm 132:1-18, Proverbs 17:6
Today is the 14th day of June, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and it is fantastic to be here with you today, as we gather once again around the Global Campfire and take the next step forward together. Today, is our 165th stop that we've taken, day-by-day, step-by-step, and we are well underway, obviously. But that happens one step at a time. And so, let's dive in together. We will be moving back into the book of first Kings. Yesterday, we kind of we…we kind of started down the other side of the mountain. Solomon's reign as ended, his son, Rehoboam is king but 10 of the tribes have rebelled against Rehoboam and we’ll pick up the story from there, first Kings chapter 12 verse 20 through 13 verse 34.
Commentary:
Okay so, contained in what we read today from the book of first Kings we have a…a very stark, very important lesson that applies to our lives today. So, certainly we’re reading and ancient retelling of a tumultuous time in ancient Israel, where the kingdom is divided, the kingdom has split into two kingdoms. And so, now we have 10 tribes in the north, the kingdom of Israel and then we have Benjamin and Judah in the south where Jerusalem is the kingdom of Judah. Still loyal to David's line. And so, Rehoboam is there King but the northern 10 tribes have a new King named Jeroboam. So, we have two Kings ruling over what Solomon had ruled over. This is actually pretty important for us, right now to understand that because as we move forward we’re in the books of the kings and so we’re chronicling the different Kings and we’re gonna find that they overlap. So, there will be a king in Israel and a king in Judah and they are certainly not always friendly to one another. So, just understanding that after Solomon, the kingdom divided into two kingdoms: the kingdom of Judah and the kingdom of Israel. I will go a long way to helping us understand what's going on as we continue through the chronicling of the kings. So, King Jeroboam was the king of Israel the king of the northern 10 tribes who have rebelled against Rehoboam in the South had been foretold by prophetic utterance that he would one day rule. Now, he is ruling but he is leading those 10 tribes directly, clearly and unreservedly into straight up idolatry. He believes that if the people in the north continue to travel into the land of Judah, to go up to Jerusalem, to make a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, to the house where God has put his name, if they keep doing that their hearts will return to Jerusalem and to the Lord and to the king, which will mean that he will one day be done away with. And so, he creates idols, golden calves and he puts one in the city of Dan and he puts the other in the city of Bethel. This would've been the northern and southern boundaries of his kingdom, the kingdom of the 10 tribes the kingdom of Israel. Actually, the remnants of Jeroboam's temple of idolatry remains in Dan until this day, you can still see where that was. The one in Bethel has been destroyed long time ago, there's really not nothing there. So, here's where it really gets interesting in our own lives. A prophet of God from Judah, so, a prophet of God from the southern kingdom of Judah, was instructed to cross the border into the northern kingdom of Israel, go to the city of Bethel, which is the southern border city, and curse this altar. And don't drink anything. Don't eat anything and don't go back the way you came. Clear instructions to the prophet, who then obeys the Lord, crosses over goes to Bethel, goes to the temple. The king, King Jeroboam is there offering incense, the prophet curses the altar, the altar breaks open, ashes fly out, the king's arm is frozen in place and then release like it's a very dramatic scene and then the king wants this prophet to come back to the palace where he can be rewarded, where discussions can happen. But of course, the prophet says he can do that and he won't do that, even if the king wants to give him half the kingdom, like he's he can't do it. He is eat nothing, he is to drink nothing. He is to return a different way than by the way that he came and so he departs and he's on his way, in obedience, heading back to the southern kingdom of Judah where he lives. A prophet, an older man, an older prophet, who is now in the land of Israel hears about all this and goes and tells him that God has changed the plan, that a messenger has come to him and he is supposed to get the prophet and bring him home, where he can eat and drink and rest up. And the prophet that was sent to the altar, listens to the prophet telling him this and he follows him back to his house. Then that result is that he disobeyed God and he never made it back to the kingdom of Judah. This is a riveting lesson for us, one that every time we come by this way, I try to point out because it's so deeply important. When we hear the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives, however, that happens for us, however, we understand how God speaks to us, when we know we have been given instructions from the Lord to do something. If somebody else comes alongside and says plans have changed, God told me to tell you, thus and so and it deviates from what we had believed in our hearts that God had told us to do and we turn and follow this other path, it appears that the road doesn't go anywhere good. The interesting thing is that God could send someone to rescue us, or someone could come along that is ultimately deceiving us and we have to know what we truly believe God told us to do and obey that alone. Or we are invariably going to end up in a pile of trouble somewhere down the line and it's interesting because we’re always wanting to know what God is saying and what God is doing, and we will run into people that we think and be an Oracle on behalf of God to speak to us what we can't seem to find out for ourselves. And so, we can very, very easily find ourselves walking down a path in the name of the Lord, that the Lord didn't have anything to do with and that is somewhat of a terrifying thought. And this isn’t about when we’re trying to discern something and we invite trusted people into our lives to listen and we’re just trying to work through what the Lord is leading so that we can understand the clarity of the path, that's not what happened in the story. The prophet heard clearly from God and was clearly obeying what he had been instructed and was almost through with the mission, when he deviated from the path because somebody else came and said God told me to tell you this. So, what is the net net here, if we have clearly heard from God, then we should obey exactly what God has said, nothing more, nothing less. Otherwise, we could be putting ourselves in some sort of jeopardy and so often when we do that we’re mad, we’re shaking our fist at the heavens, why did you send me into this brick wall why what I was for always obeying you…you told me things that you sent messengers to tell me things and I'm obeying these things if what the Lord has told us is different than what somebody tells us that the Lord is saying, we better slow down and discern clearly and this is one of the reasons for this story being in the Bible to teach us this.
Prayer:
And so, Father, it is Your voice that we want to hear, it is Your counsel and instruction in comfort and love and companionship that we desire more than anything, to be in Your presence and to be aware of it because we are always in Your presence, to be aware of that, walking with You, fellowshipping with You. This is our deep heart desire. So, we are listening, listening for Your guidance, and it is certainly our intention to obey. Protect us, give us discerning hearts and minds that we might see traps that have inadvertently been laid for us, that could cause us to deviate from the path and land us where we do not want to be. Come, Holy Spirit, lead us into all truth, as Jesus promised. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Prayer and Encouragements:
Good morning DABers, this is Donna, Longing to be God's Delight in Pennsylvania. And I’m calling to pray for many of the DABers today, but I first of all have to thank God’s Smile for just making me giggle. She and Peter, I know she's dealt with chronic pain for many years but she just makes me laugh and what a joy that is, what a gift to others, to make us laugh because we need that. I am praying for healing of body for John and Cindy, that God would pour His living water on them, heal their bodies, put out the fires of pain, just as heavy rain puts out a forest fire. Put out the fire and pour Your Spirit into them, that they would bubble forth with living water and be strengthened. I am praying for the woman who is overwhelmed, she's her mother's caretaker, her father-in-law has cancer, her sons going to college and she has an international business. Lord, strengthen her, give her peace and give her, raise up angels and helpers, just as Moses’ father-in-law said this is not good what you’re doing. Give her helpers that can take some of this load off of her, nothing is impossible for You, God. I pray for our children, Lord, that You and also for the man whose wife is confused and for so many who are dealing with addiction, that You would untangle the darkness of our minds when we are oppressed by sin and strongholds and replace them with the smooth balm and oil and light of Your love. And I pray all of this and raise all of these people up to You, in Jesus precious name. Amen.
Good morning DAB family. I am walking on beautiful nature trail in southeastern, southwestern Michigan actually, and surrounded by God's glory. And I just listened to, I believe it was the ninth and I heard God's Tree and on the Shadow of His Wings and I just want to say I heard your prayers. I agree with your prayers. I'm praying for you and I really truly love you. Sometimes, I think it sounds trite when we say it, but there basically are no words for how full my heart is. And when I say I love you guys, I really truly mean it. It really helps me to not feel alone in this world. It’s just glorious here. I’m and walking on a bridge under the canopy of God’s beautiful greenery and I just want to tell you how much ya’ll mean to me. This is Dorothy from Destin, in Michigan, wrapped in His unfailing love. God bless you all and have a wonderful weekend.
Good morning, DAB-C family. This is Samantha from Tennessee. All of your prayer requests and updates and praises, totally bless me and build my faith. This is a really special exchange that we have through prayer. But I wanted to lift up all of the listeners as a covering prayer that will pinpoint some specific requests made. But Jesus, thank You, that You are the author of transformation. Lord, Your redemptive love is the only thing on this planet that actually changes people. So, Lord, I ask for transformation in the hearts of our listeners and their families and their friends. Lord, I pray that in marriages, You would redeem hurt and transform hearts and minds. So, the past is not even a question anymore because they are new creations. Jesus, I pray for new creation, I pray for revival, for unexplainable change. I pray for the Saul’s to turn to Paul’s, just at the presence of You, Jesus. That it would change our lives entirely and leave the past completely in the past. Thank You, that because of Your redemptive love this is even possible. We love You, Lord. And I bless the listeners. In Jesus …
Good morning DABers, this is Romans 12:2, I’m calling to pray for the sister who called that her son, little boy Shawn, I don’t know how old he is, is having some difficulty with behavior problems. Lord, I just pray, Oh God, this morning, Lord, I feel her heart, Lord. Lord, I pray in the name of Jesus, that You will touch this young man. Father, that the spirit of God would fall upon him, that he will have an encounter with You, Oh God. Father, that this behavioral problem, oh God, that the root of it would be revealed in Jesus name. Father, that You would help his parents, give them wisdom, oh God. You said we have not because we ask not, so we are asking this morning, oh God, for an intervention, oh God, that You would deliver this young boy, Father, from whatever’s troubling him, whatever is keeping him in bondage, oh God. We curse, oh God, the works of the enemy in his life. Lord, we pray this morning, in agreement, I stand with his parents, I stand with other believers, other DABers, oh God, that You would intervene, Lord, and deliver him, oh God. That You would cause him to rise up and grow up to be a man of God. That no weapon formed against him shall prosper. In the name of Jesus, I plead the blood of Jesus, over Shawn this morning. Father, I thank You, oh God, for every other DABer, Lord. Those who are going through, Lord, pain physically. Those who are needing a transplant, like the man in Florida, oh God. Today, we believe You for it, Lord. Father, those who are battling financial situations and marital problems, oh God. We lift them up to You, this morning, oh God. I thank You that You’re more than able, that You’re the deliverer. You’re the mighty healer, oh God. That You are the physician, oh God, You’re our doctor, Lord, You’re our lawyer. Lord, we turn to You as Your children, let us beggars come boldly to the throne of grace. And I pray for deliverance and I thank You in advance, in Jesus name. Amen.
Hey, hey, I haven’t called in for a few years, four maybe five. I haven’t actually been participating for a couple. And, through all that, life’s changed quite a bit. And I’ve gone back on my life recently and I know His blessings are at work and it’s all coming to fruition but this valley is long and dark. The things that have been happening just don’t stop. And I’m broken and I just feel like it’s a downward spiral with full custody of my daughters, their whole lives. From a newborn to two-year-old, to a 10 and 13. Everything, you know the, I was a 25-year-old dad and raised them myself. I don’t know if people remember, I used to pray for them on this community. Pray for things to go well, and they did. Now, they’re not. And with COVID and everything, I just, my life was complicated, I guess it just put me off my game just enough. And that was all it took and now I haven’t seen my daughters in four months or heard from them. And I don’t have any custody and I have no money. And the court wants me to do all these visits and therapy but I can’t because I have no money so if you could pray for Stephen, Lala and Emmie. I would really appreciate it, thank you.

New King James Version Par ▾
Judgment on the House of Jeroboam
1At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick. 2And Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please arise, and disguise yourself, that they may not recognize you as the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh. Indeed, Ahijah the prophet is there, who told me that I would be king over this people. 3Also take [a]with you ten loaves, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him; he will tell you what will become of the child.” 4And Jeroboam’s wife did so; she arose and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were [b]glazed by reason of his age.
5Now the Lord had said to Ahijah, “Here is the wife of Jeroboam, coming to ask you something about her son, for he is sick. Thus and thus you shall say to her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”
6And so it was, when Ahijah heard the sound of her footsteps as she came through the door, he said, “Come in, wife of Jeroboam. Why do you pretend to be another person? For I have been sent to you with bad news. 7Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you ruler over My people Israel, 8and tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it to you; and yet you have not been as My servant David, who kept My commandments and who followed Me with all his heart, to do only what was right in My eyes; 9but you have done more evil than all who were before you, for you have gone and made for yourself other gods and molded images to provoke Me to anger, and have cast Me behind your back— 10therefore behold! I will bring disaster on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every male in Israel, bond and free; I will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as one takes away refuse until it is all gone. 11The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Jeroboam and dies in the city, and the birds of the air shall eat whoever dies in the field; for the Lord has spoken!” ’ 12Arise therefore, go to your own house. When your feet enter the city, the child shall die. 13And all Israel shall mourn for him and bury him, for he is the only one of Jeroboam who shall [c]come to the grave, because in him there is found something good toward the Lord God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam.
14“Moreover the Lord will raise up for Himself a king over Israel who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam; [d]this is the day. What? Even now! 15For the Lord will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water. He will uproot Israel from this good land which He gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond [e]the River, because they have made their [f]wooden images, provoking the Lord to anger. 16And He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned and who made Israel sin.”
17Then Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah. When she came to the threshold of the house, the child died. 18And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke through His servant Ahijah the prophet.
Death of Jeroboam
19Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he made war and how he reigned, indeed they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. 20The period that Jeroboam reigned was twenty-two years. So he rested with his fathers. Then Nadab his son reigned in his place.
Rehoboam Reigns in Judah
21And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king. He reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there. His mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. 22Now Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done. 23For they also built for themselves high[g] places, sacred pillars, and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree. 24And there were also [h]perverted persons in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
25It happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem. 26And he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king’s house; he took away everything. He also took away all the gold shields which Solomon had made. 27Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place, and [i]committed them to the hands of the captains of the [j]guard, who guarded the doorway of the king’s house. 28And whenever the king entered the house of the Lord, the guards carried them, then brought them back into the guardroom.
29Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 30And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days. 31So Rehoboam [k]rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David. His mother’s name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. Then Abijam[l] his son reigned in his place.

Jezebel within the Church of Thyatira
We are so conditioned to feminist ideals, and to lauding the suffragettes, that most people have lost sight of God’s views on how to live our lives under His guidance, fellowship and precepts.
In Kings we saw
1 Kings 11
1  King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh's daughter--Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites.
2  They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, "You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods." Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.
3  He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.
4  As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father had been.
>>>>
There were many worthy women in the bible and I like the record of the Queen of Sheba.  We need not listen to popular ideas of her beauty and an affair between her and Solomon.  The bible does not hang back from giving such details, but there are no such details between these two.  She went there to meet Solomon, and to ask questions and other seeking activities.
1 Kings 10
6 She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true. 7 But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told me; in wisdom and wealth you have far exceeded the report I heard. 8 How happy your people must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom! 9 Praise be to the Lord your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel.
>>>>
So now we come to disappointing, managing mothers of evil influence:
1 Kings 11
26 Also, Jeroboam son of Nebat rebelled against the king. He was one of Solomon’s officials, an Ephraimite from Zeredah, and his mother was a widow named Zeruah.
1 Kings 14
21 Rehoboam son of Solomon was king in Judah ... .his mother’s name was Naamah; she was an Ammonite.
22 Judah did evil in the eyes of the Lord. By the sins they committed they stirred up his jealous anger more than those who were before them had done.
1 Kings 15
Jeroboam son of Nebat, Abijah became king of Judah, 2 and he reigned in Jerusalem three years. His mother’s name was Maakah, daughter of Abishalom.
his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his forefather had been
We don’t get the name of Asa’s mother, but the grandmother is the problem influence:
… Asa became king of Judah, 10 and he reigned in Jerusalem forty-one years. His grandmother’s name was Maakah, daughter of Abishalom.
11 Asa did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, as his father David had done. 12 He expelled the male shrine prostitutes from the land and got rid of all the idols his ancestors had made. 13 He even deposed his grandmother Maakah from her position as queen mother …
During Asa’s reign Ahab, king of Israel married Jezebel.  This woman’s evil manipulation tops the lot.
1 Kings 18
4 While Jezebel was killing off the Lord’s prophets, Obadiah had taken a hundred prophets and hidden them in two caves, fifty in each, and had supplied them with food and water.)
Jehoshaphat is known for being a good king, and we do read his mother’s name.  Unfortunately Jehoshaphat also had a wishy-washy streak to him:
1 Kings 22
41 Jehoshaphat son of Asa became king of Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel. 42 Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-five years. His mother’s name was Azubah daughter of Shilhi. 43 In everything he followed the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. The high places, however, were not removed, and the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.
44 Jehoshaphat was also at peace with the king of Israel.
>>>>>>
To the Church in Thyatira
The spirit of Jezebel did not leave the earth when she was killed … and we read how Thyatira is burdened by allowing that spirit to have sway.  The text says woman, but it is a spirit within.  The text focuses on immorality, and that is one of today’s great problems, in its overt and socially acceptable way.  Many excuses are wheeled out for women ‘having to’ be prostitutes or sensuous performers, in order to feed/clothe/educate themselves/their children.  That is another deception.
Revelation 2
20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. 21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. … Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.
24 Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets, ‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’

Did Solomon Write Song of Songs?
Scholars and historians love to question and challenge every detail of the Bible and some even question the authorship of this book. So what evidence supports the idea of Solomon as the author of this book?
For many the matter is put to bed in verse one: "Solomon’s Song of Songs."
However, the Hebrew term phrase “Song of Song of Solomon” is very complex and may be variously understood as "of/to/for/about Solomon". The title may therefore imply that Solomon wrote the poetry, that the poems were dedicated to him, or that the songs were composed about him. There is no definitive way of deciding between the four meanings. The most straightforward way to understand it seems to be that the author is identified within the text. However, some suggest the song is merely dedicated to Solomon and a later fabrication.
Dating: One interesting detail is that in verse 6:4, Solomon compares his bride's beauty to Jerusalem and Tirzah. Jerusalem is obviously the throne's seat of power during Solomon's day and Tirzah is another major city within his kingdom. However, shortly after Solomon's death, during the reign of his son Rehoboam, Tirzah was lost to David's line when the northern kingdom broke away from Judah after the people revolted against the heavy taxes levied by the new king. Tirzah became the early capital of the rebel state in the north and so it is scarcely conceivable that if a later Jewish author had written the book, that author would have referred to both Jerusalem and Tirzah in such favorable terms. Indeed, various locations in both the north and the south are referenced equally (Engedi, Hermon, Carmel, Lebanon, Heshbon etc), so from the internal evidence, the author seems to be unaware of a divided Kingdom, which strongly indicates a date that precedes the reign of Solomon's son.
Language: Scholars who try to advocate a later date for the Song of Songs, point to certain linguistic elements within the text that they claim are influenced by later Greek and Aramaic. However, the supposed Aramaic words have been proven to be part of much earlier text (Job, Judges etc). The alleged Greek words for "palaquin", (3:9) and "orchard" (4:13) in each case, could equally be derived from the contemporary Sanskrit from India. Solomon likely traded with India, given the references to spikenard and ivory.
Frame of reference: While it is not conclusive proof of Solomon’s authorship, throughout the song, there are references to and comparisons with truly rare and precious items. These include not only gold, silver and gemstones but ivory, cosmetic powders, spikenard, myrrh and frankincense. Many of which were imported from far-off countries. Also, Pharaoh's cavalry is referenced in verse 1:9, which ties in with the statement in 1 Kings 10:28 that "Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and from Kue —the royal merchants purchased them from Kue at the current price." all of this implies the author's familiarity with both royal luxuries and international trade.
In 1 Kings 4:32-33, it says of Solomon that "he spoke three thousand proverbs and his songs numbered a thousand and five. He spoke about plant life, from the cedar of Lebanon to the hyssop that grows out of walls. He also spoke about animals and birds, reptiles and fish." So not only was the King known for his many songs, he had a keen interest in the flora and fauna of the world. The Song of Songs refers to twenty-one varieties of plant life and fifteen types of animals, so both elements support the authorship of King Solomon himself.

LIGHT OF LIFE 457
John 1:4
DIVINE ORDER 22: KEEP YOUR RECORDS IN ORDER 4
Isa 30:8 Now go, WRITE IT DOWN ON A TABLET IN THEIR PRESENCE, INSCRIBE IT ON A SCROLL, so that it might be PRESERVED FOR A FUTURE TIME AS AN ENDURING WITNESS. NET
STEP BY STEP RECORDING
It must have occurred to you that Genesis 2 was [partly] a recorded detail of the major things that God had created in Chapter 1. it was a matter of a Record explaining another Record.
Gen 2:4 This is the story about the creation of the sky and the earth. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THE LORD GOD MADE THE EARTH AND THE SKY. ERV
There were detailed records of activities of God’s appointed Prophets.
Mat 11:13 All the Books of the Prophets and the Law of Moses TOLD WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN UP TO THE TIME OF JOHN. CEV
Those were records of Prophetic detailing with such accuracy as is uncommon with Men’s works.
John the Baptist was mentioned by Malachi, the last Prophet 400 yrs before his time.
Mal 4:5-6 See, I AM SENDING YOU ELIJAH THE PROPHET BEFORE THE DAY OF THE LORD COMES, that great day, greatly to be feared. And by him the hearts of fathers will be turned to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers; for fear that I may come and put the earth under a curse. BBE
Coincidentally, right before that scripture, the first major Prophet: Moses was mentioned too, linking the records of the First Prophet with the last one before Jesus.
Beautiful, right?
Mal 4:4 "REMEMBER THE TEACHINGS OF MY SERVANT MOSES, THE LAWS AND COMMANDS WHICH I GAVE HIM at Mount Sinai for all the people of Israel to obey. GNB
There were thence records of events to happen in the last days of Human Times.
Rev 1:1 THIS BOOK IS THE RECORD OF THE EVENTS THAT JESUS CHRIST REVEALED. God gave him this revelation in order TO SHOW TO HIS SERVANTS WHAT MUST HAPPEN VERY SOON. Christ made these things known to his servant John by sending his angel to him, GNB
There were the books of Kings, confirmed and corroborated by the Book of Chronicles (Times), which perfectly set the list of successful events and times in detailed ORDER.
1Ki 14:29 The rest of the events of Rehoboam’s reign, including his accomplishments, ARE RECORDED IN THE SCROLL CALLED THE ANNALS OF THE KINGS OF JUDAH. NET
Now the activities of our Lord Jesus, the King of Kings, had 4 records, which corroborated each other and mostly confirmed the Works of Emmanuel; God dwelling amongst Men.
Joh 1:14-15 THE WORD BECAME A HUMAN BEING AND LIVED HERE WITH US. WE SAW HIS TRUE GLORY, the glory of the only Son of the Father. From him all the kindness and all the truth of God have come down to us. John spoke about him and shouted, "This is the one I told you would come! He is greater than I am, because he was alive before I was born." CEV
Lastly, we all know that all the Records kept on Earth are also [even better] kept in Heaven.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, great and small, taking their places before the high seat; AND THE BOOKS WERE OPEN, AND ANOTHER BOOK WAS OPEN, WHICH IS THE BOOK OF LIFE; and the dead were JUDGED BY THE THINGS WHICH WERE IN THE BOOKS, EVEN BY THEIR WORKS. BBE
There are record of evil that Men would rather have disappear forever; Incriminating videos that Men would have killed to destroy.
Billions of substantial evidence erased yearly, but they are all kept very intact in God’s annals of the Works of Men.
Mat 12:36-37 You can be sure of this: when the day of judgment comes, EVERYONE WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR EVERY CARELESS WORD HE HAS SPOKEN. YOUR VERY WORDS WILL BE USED AS EVIDENCE AGAINST YOU, and your words will declare you either innocent or guilty.” TPT
I hope you know that God doesn’t really need to keep these records; He knows our every thought and feeling, hidden from all other men.
Rom 2:16 This happens as they face the day when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge people's secret thoughts. He will use the Good News that I am spreading to make that judgment. GW
May God help us keep our Records straight and without blemish, IN JESUS NAME.
Come back on Monday, as we proceed in digging into this inspiring Subtopic.

1 Kings 14: 25-31. "The Sweetness of the People."
Tumblr media
25 In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt attacked Jerusalem.
26 He carried off the treasures of the temple of the Lord and the treasures of the royal palace. He took everything, including all the gold shields Solomon had made.
27 So King Rehoboam made bronze shields to replace them and assigned these to the commanders of the guard on duty at the entrance to the royal palace.
28 Whenever the king went to the Lord’s temple, the guards bore the shields, and afterward they returned them to the guardroom.
29 As for the other events of Rehoboam’s reign, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah?
30 There was continual warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.
31 And Rehoboam rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. His mother’s name was Naamah; she was an Ammonite. And Abijah[d] his son succeeded him as king.
The Fifth Year is 728, ז‎בח‎, "the sacrifice." What are sacrifices? How would they be different here in the Melachim vs. those named in the Torah or the Septuagint?
"One of the most difficult elements of the Torah and the way of life it prescribes is the phenomenon of animal sacrifices – for obvious reasons.
First, Jews and Judaism have survived without them for almost two thousand years. Second, virtually all the prophets were critical of them, not least Jeremiah in this week’s haftarah.1 None of the prophets sought to abolish sacrifices, but they were severely critical of those who offered them while at the same time oppressing or exploiting their fellow human beings.
What disturbed them – what disturbed G‑d in whose name they spoke – was that evidently some people thought of sacrifices as a kind of bribe: if we make a generous enough gift to G‑d then He may overlook our crimes and misdemeanors. This is an idea radically incompatible with Judaism.
Then again, along with monarchy, sacrifices were among the least distinctive features of Judaism in ancient times. Every ancient religion in those days, every cult and sect, had its altars and sacrifices.
Finally, it remains remarkable how simply and smoothly the sages were able to construct substitutes for sacrifice, three in particular: prayer, study and tzedakah. Prayer, particularly Shacharit, Mincha and Musaf, took the place of the regular offerings. One who studies the laws of sacrifice is as if he had brought a sacrifice. And one who gives to charity brings, as it were, a financial sacrifice, acknowledging that all we have we owe to G‑d.
So, though we pray daily for the rebuilding of the Temple and the restoration of sacrifices, the principle of sacrifice itself remains hard to understand.
Many theories have been advanced by anthropologists, psychologists and Bible scholars as to what the sacrifices represented, but most are based on the questionable assumption that sacrifice is essentially the same act across cultures. This is poor scholarship.
Always seek to understand a practice in terms of the distinctive beliefs of the culture in which it takes place. What could sacrifice possibly mean in a religion in which G‑d is the creator and owner of all?
What, then, was sacrifice in Judaism and why does it remain important, at least as an idea, even today? The simplest answer – though it does not explain the details of the different kinds of offering – is this: We love what we are willing to make sacrifices for."
We sacrifice for what disturbs us and for what makes us fall in love. For a king, this means the contents of this Book of Kings, which so far means corruption and the successful conclusion of the Torah and all Torahs called Shabbat, a practice he must not neglect else his subjects surely will.
The opposite of sacrifice is surrender. In this portion of the Melachim, a kind of corruption called shishach, which normally means "lily white of the purest white" but here means "blackest evil" enters the kingdom and what does it do? It usurps the protection of civil rights, AKA Solomon's gold shields; it tries to spirit them away.
Gold Shields, be they in the form of the unwritten rules of decency we are all supposed to understand intuitively, or are written on documents we put in museums or read in church mean nothing at all without a proper reflective surface in the ways society functions all around us.
Solomon, "the complete peace" deeded these to his son, Rehoboam, "the all-inclusive" but an impure Egyptian flower bloomed and slandered them. We see this all the time. "Today our civil rights no longer matter". America is notorious for this; it has an uncanny abiity to devalue Gold like nobody's business.
This is caused by the dark power of democracy, which can change the direction of the wind at a moment's notice and then force it back the other way with similar unpredictability. The Torah says the King of Israel is not beholden to the darkness but to be unyielding to the power Light, time after time, generation after generation and ensure civil rights are upheld.
This Rehoboam did. He supplied his men with new shields made of bronze, an alloy consisting of all the principals of civilization and God reward him and his people with Shabbat.
The Gematria is found in v. 28 and 29, 10613, אאֶפֶסואג‎, apeswaag=
ap= eyes on
es= the fire
wa=The particle ו (waw) is the most occurring verbal unit in the Bible. Its name means peg or hook and its shape resembles one, and its job is to tie words, statements and sentences together.
ag=of the people
"Keep your eyes on the words that illuminate and bind the people together."
According to the text, there was conflict between "the expansion of the people and the inclusion of the people", but the former triumphed.
Rehoboam was succeeded by Abijah, "the sweetness of the people and social fatherhood that was the defining quality of the community's alpha male, the one around whom all economy revolved and from whom emanated all instructions by which the 'sons' (בן, ben) operated."
Unlike Hinduism which has sadhana, "the practices", satsang, "the gathering", and samadhi, "final peace", which contribute to the evidence of truth hidden in the Upanishads, Shabbat has utter meaning unto itself. There must be "no work" performed during Shabbat because all that troubles the world must be revealed and resolved and left in the past.
Without this personal and also universal experience of compliance with the Law, there is no Shabbat. Shabbat is not a means to an end, it is not gradual or progressive, Shabbat is Shabbat, the "way of the fathers and also of the sons" guaranteed not by democracy, but by the trust God has invested in Monarchy.

Abijah Succeeds Rehoboam (1 Kings 15:1-9)
1 During the eighteenth year of the reign ofa King Jeroboam, Abijah became king over Judah. 2 He reigned for three years in Jerusalem. His mother was Uriel’s daughter Micaiah from Gibeah.
A war started between Abijah and Jeroboam. 3 Abijah started the battle with an army of 400,000 specially chosen valiant soldiers, but Jeroboam opposed him with 800,000 specially chosen valiant soldiers. 4 Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim in the hill country of Ephraim and announced:
“Listen to me, Jeroboam and Israel! 5 Don’t you know that the LORD God of Israel assigned the kingship over Israel to David and his descendants forever by a salt covenant? 6 Even so, Nebat’s son Jeroboam, who used to serve David’s son Solomon, rose in rebellion against his own master! 7 Useless troublemakersc soon gathered around him, who turned out to be too strong for Rehoboam, because he was young, timid, and unable to withstand them.
8 “So now you think you’ll be able to withstand the LORD’s kingdom as controlled by David’s descendants, just because you have a large crown and have brought with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods. 9 Haven’t you already driven away the LORD’s priests, the descendants of Aaron and the descendants of Levi? Haven’t you established your own priests like the people of otherd lands?
10 “Now as far as we’re concerned, the LORD is our God, and we haven’t abandoned him. The descendants of Aaron are ministering to the LORD as priests, and the descendants of Levi continue their work. 11 Every morning and evening, they’re offering burnt offerings and fragrant incense to the LORD, the showbread is set out on the pure table, and they take care of the golden lamp stand so its lamps can continue to burn every evening. We continue to be faithful over what the LORD our God entrusted to us, but you have abandoned him. 12 Now listen! God is with us to lead us, and his priests are about to sound their battle trumpets against you. Descendants of Israel, don’t fight against the LORD God of your ancestors, because you won’t succeed!”
13 But Jeroboam had sent an ambush to attack from the rear, so Israel was in front of Judah, with the ambush set in place behind them. 14 When the army of Judah turned around to look, they were being attacked from both front and rear, so they cried out to the LORD while the priests sounded their trumpets. 15 Then the army of Judah sounded a war cry, and God routed Jeroboam and the entire army of Israel in front of Abijah and Judah. 16 When the descendants of Israel ran away from the army of Judah, God handed them over to the army of Judah. 17 Abijah and his army defeated them in a tremendous slaughter that resulted in 500,000 special forces from Israel being slain. 18 And so the descendants of Israel were defeated at that time. The descendants of Judah were victorious because they trusted in the LORD God of their ancestors. 19 After this Abijah pursued Jeroboam and captured Bethel and its villages, Jeshanah and its villages, and Ephron and its villages.
Jeroboam’s Death and Asa’s Reign in Judah
20 Jeroboam never recovered his strength for the rest of Abijah’s life. The LORD struck Jeroboam,f and he died, 21 but Abijah continued to grow more powerful. He took fourteen wives for himself and fathered twenty-two sons and sixteen daughters. 22 The rest of Abijah’s accomplishments, his lifestyle and his memoirs are recorded in the Midrashg of the Prophet Iddo. — 2 Chronicles 13 | International Standard Version (ISV) The International Standard Version of the Holy Bible Copyright © 1995-2014 by ISV Foundation. #DailyDevotion When God Rejects His Church Because Of Its Sin
Tumblr media
#DailyDevotion When God Rejects His Church Because Of Its Sin Psalm 74 O God, why do You reject us forever; why does Your anger blaze against the sheep of Your pasture? The inscription of this Psalm is a maskil of Asaph. Asaph was appointed by David to be the leader of song at the Temple. Yet, this Psalm seems to be written at the time of the destruction of the Temple. Perhaps by Asaph means by his descendants who were also therefore appointed to lead the singing of the Temple. However, during the reign of Rehoboam, David's grandson, he and all Israel abandoned the Law of the LORD. Because of this, the LORD sent the Egyptian pharaoh to plunder Jerusalem and the Temple. (2 Chr. 12). So perhaps it is this plundering Asaph is referring to. Given that the LORD brought destruction upon the Temple when Israel or Judah sinned, makes you wonder how the Psalmist can say, “why does Your anger blaze against the sheep of Your pasture?” Perhaps we can understand his distress of, “why do You reject us forever?” It was the sins of the people though and their leaders which has brought this upon them. I think it is our own sinful flesh that Paul talks about in Romans 7 which blinds us to our own sins at times.  Nevertheless, God's people, the faithful, often suffer with those who call themselves by the name of the LORD, yet who sin against the LORD. We know God always preserves from Himself a remnant. They are carried away with the unbelievers as witnesses against them and as witnesses to the LORD of His Law and His Gospel. In the midst of it, we too cry out, “will you forget us forever?” 2Remember Your congregation that You bought, the tribe You redeemed long ago to be your own people, Mount Zion which You made Your home. Asaph asks the LORD to remember His congregation which He bought and redeemed to be His own people. We too should call upon Jesus to remember His people which He bought and redeemed with His blood to be His people. The Church is now His Mt. Zion in which He has made His home. I think perhaps it is good for us to cry out to God and our LORD Jesus Christ to remember us in this day and age when it seems as if the Church is under attack. We might need to confess the sins of the Church as a whole in not condemning the sins of our own while condemning the sins of others. 3Direct your steps toward these permanent ruins — the enemy has wrecked everything in the sanctuary. 4Your foes have roared in the place where the assembly met and set up their own emblems as banners. 5From the entrance on they hacked like a woodsman in a forest; 6they smashed all its carved work with axes and crowbars. 7They set Your holy place on fire, polluted and tore down the sanctuary bearing Your name. 8They thought, "We will crush them altogether," and they burned every place in the land where God met with us. Here it sounds more like the final destruction of the Temple by the Babylonians. Asaph is calling upon the LORD to visit the place of ruins in which the Babylonians destroyed. God's people, as a whole, misused the place where God promised to meet with them. It was He who directed its destruction. God removed the places where He promised to meet with His people because they rejected Him. As we look out upon the apostate Church of our land and our own not repenting of our own sins, can we not see why God is removing Himself and the places where He promised to meet with us. Let us examine ourselves rightly according to His word and repent of where we have fallen short. Heavenly Father, give us Your Holy Spirit so Your Church may see its sins in the light of Your word, repent of them and see Your presence among us again. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. The Reign of Baasha in Israel recounted in the First Book of Kings teaches the validity of a universal law, the law of sowing and reaping, a law taught by the prophets and the sapiential books of the Bible: "For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind." Hosea 8:7. A cosmic law that ensures blessings for the righteous but punishment for the foolish. Jeroboam according to the Bible had received the Kingdom of Israel as a consequence of the Assembly of Shechem, which rejected Rehoboam as king of the twelve tribes except Judah and Benjamin who remained faithful to the house of David. But in due time, God repudiated Jeroboam as king for his sins and especially for having imposed idolatry in the country, in the likeness to the cults of neighboring countries. And as a consequence of this, Jeroboam's dynasty was brief, his son Nadal succeeded him as king, but after a brief time, he was assassinated by Baasha. And Baasha made the same mistakes as Jeroboam, and that is why God in his eternal providence was as severe with Baasha as he was with Jeroboam, the Lord is merciful, but it is also wise to correct fools with punishments because it is in this way that errors become evident. This is why God communicated to the prophet Jehu what would happen to Baasha, and what he should say to the King: "I lifted you up from the dust and appointed you ruler over my people Israel, but you followed the ways of Jeroboam and caused my people Israel to sin and to arouse my anger by their sins. So I am about to wipe out Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat" 1 Kings 16:2-3.

25th December >> Mass Readings (USA)
Christmas Day - Vigil Mass and Mass during the Day.
Vigil Mass
(Liturgical Colour: White: B (2))
(Readings for the Vigil Mass, celebrated during the afternoon or evening before Christmas Day)
First Reading Isaiah 62:1–5 The Lord delights in you.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 89:4–5, 16–17, 27, 29
Second Reading Acts of the Apostles 13:16–17, 22–25 Paul bears witness to Christ, the Son of David.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia, alleluia. Tomorrow the wickedness of the earth will be destroyed: the Savior of the world will reign over us. Alleluia, alleluia.
Either:
Gospel Matthew 1:1–25 The genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David.
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Or:
Gospel Matthew 1:18–25 Mary will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus.

Christmas Day - Mass during the Day
(Liturgical Colour: White: B (2))
(Readings for the daytime Mass on Christmas Day)
First Reading Isaiah 52:7–10 All the ends of the earth will behold the salvation of our God.
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings glad tidings, announcing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation, and saying to Zion, “Your God is King!”
Hark! Your sentinels raise a cry, together they shout for joy, for they see directly, before their eyes, the LORD restoring Zion. Break out together in song, O ruins of Jerusalem! For the LORD comforts his people, he redeems Jerusalem. The LORD has bared his holy arm in the sight of all the nations; all the ends of the earth will behold the salvation of our God.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 98:1, 2–3, 3–4, 5–6
R/ All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done wondrous deeds; his right hand has won victory for him, his holy arm.
R/ All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
The LORD has made his salvation known: in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice. He has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel.
R/ All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation by our God. Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands; break into song; sing praise.
R/ All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
Sing praise to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and melodious song. With trumpets and the sound of the horn sing joyfully before the King, the LORD.
R/ All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
Second Reading Hebrews 1:1–6 God has spoken to us through the Son.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia, alleluia. A holy day has dawned upon us. Come, you nations, and adore the Lord. For today a great light has come upon the earth. Alleluia, alleluia.
Either:
Gospel John 1:1–18 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Or:

2 Chronicles 21: 1-3. "The Spoils."
Tumblr media
21 Then Jehoshaphat rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. And Jehoram his son succeeded him as king.
Before we delve into the next generation, let's reivisit where Jehoshophat came from so we know where his sons are going.
First was Saul, "To ask for"
Then came David, "Persistent Beauty" a boy who whored his way in.
Next was Solomon, "The Complete Peace."
Then was Rehoboam, "Beyond That."
After that was "Economic Instructions."
Then came Asa, the "Spiritual Basis", AKA "Grace not greed."
Finally was Jehoshophat, "The Laws We Live By."
Now we are going to discuss the reign of Jehoram, "National Pride."
Notice the verse says we live in a City of David, not a City of Slums, or bombed out apartment buildings with burning cars and naked dead people in the streets. These are anathema to the Will of God and don't you just fucking know it.
2 Jehoram’s brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat, were Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariahu, Michael and Shephatiah. All these were sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.[a]
Now in the building of National Pride", there are Seven Sons, AKA the Seven Days.
Azariah=Whom God helps has helped the rest:
עזר
The verb עזר ('azar), means to help or support, and is often used in military contexts, or to describe God's proverbial help. The nouns עזר ('azar) and עזרה ('ezra) both mean help. A much rarer but identically spelled noun עזרה ('azara) means enclosure and comes probably from an other root.

3 Their father had given them many gifts of silver and gold and articles of value, as well as fortified cities in Judah, but he had given the kingdom to Jehoram because he was his firstborn son.
The Silver and Gold the Ordinances left behind for the next generation, an educated, unspoiled young lad was respect. Respect between people that live and work together is the secret missing ingredient to National Pride.
The Gematria for verse 3 is:
What Philosophy Has To Achieve In This Respect Is Equivalent To What The Abolition Of Slavery Achieved In Affirming The Worth Of The Individual Human Being .
The value In Gematria Is 11227, which equals יא‎ךבז‎ 'achbaz, "to grasp the spoils..."
While nations squabble and bury us in rubble of all sorts, the greatest experience we might have together is going to waste. And this you should not forgive those responsible. You should, in fact, be trying to kill them for it.
