Review: This is a book that is great in some places, less so in others. I was actually tempted to stop reading it part way through because of how the story ends, and there will be spoilers in this review.

This book is a lot about failure, and overcoming failure, and then more and more failure. So much failure. This is a dude who... fails. He also succeeds but where the heart of the story is, well it's in his failures. He manages to end up in the famed Green Berets as a medic and assigned to Project Delta/B-52 but is basically kicked out for being a liability. He ends up in the 101st with their brigade LRRP team where he finds his first home. For those of you who read a lot about the VN war, you'll recognize a lot of the cast of characters in this section, with a majority of the focus being on his relationship with Rey Martinez. He then bounces around a bit, a little time in Germany, some time training medical stuff at replacement centers, and eventually as an Advisor in a few different areas. Throughout all of this he falls in love, fucks up the relationships, gets into a fucked up relationship, does a lot of drugs, gets drunk a lot, gets in trouble a lot, and eventually marries a VN woman who he later drifts apart from even though staying close to his brother in law who he fought with. At one point he tries to kill his XO and is court-martialed for it, but somehow manages to serve his time and rejoin the army for a very long career - totally unheard of but true! The problem with the book is that it is uneven, which keeps it from being a 5 star book... his coverage of certain battles is super finely detailed whereas his court martial and time in jail is barely a wisp of text. He tells more about using drugs and drinking than he does talking about his role as a medic and the training. Overall a good book and fills in some more stories from the 101st and the 302nd RF Co. He does a great job with the other cast of characters, and their stories and it's worth it just for that.

I just went to the Royal Family Website. There are approximately 68 pictures of Harry and his wife, most of the SA tour. Many pics of the wife are ones that created controversy then and now. Then I went to Prince William's RF page and it is totally different. His charities get text writeups, few if any pics. QE2 almost stripped PF and wife from the RF website. Your readings are spot on. This can never end up good. Is there a tower looming for KC3?

I am sure you will be happy with the recent news that Harry's HRH has finally been removed from the Royal Family website. Now if only they would move him and other non working royals to a non working royal page, family not Family, and make that distinction clear. It is another update that is long overdue imo.

Maybe they put up a lot of pictures for Harry and Meghan because their isn't that much information about them? The website is supposed to inform people about the BRF (at least in my opinion), and if there is nothing to say then using pictures is one way of filling up the embarrassing blank space.

Putting up pictures that created controversy may be a subtle way of throwing shade at the couple as well.

Overall, I have no idea what is going on with the website and I wish they would pay someone to redo it in a professional format which makes a clear distinction between working and non working royals, i.e. Family (part of the institution of the BRF) and family (not part of the institution but have royal blood).

I also wish they would do something to prove or deny that the Sussex children were born from Meghan's womb and that they carry the DNA of Harry and Meghan, but that is a whole other issue.

With everything going on from the moment Harry married the her, do you think that he is into this in a way to punish the RF because of the death pf his mom??

Sometimes I do think that!

Remember Princess Diana speaking about it in an interview, and this was not just some “close source” it was she, who said about everything she went thru while married to the system.

And she claimed that Prince Philip had wanted to kill her, and again, this was not just an article written from a “credible source” it was HER who spoke about it.

And nobody will believe that Princes Diana was lying to damage the Crown.

If you do go back to the majority of media about both, Prince William and prince Harry , it is obvious that it affected him more than anything.

I know different people coupe with losing their love ones in different ways, but, I guess that William probably went thru it differently since his upbringing had to be different from Harry because of the line of succession.

I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ Its just a thought Ive been having.

Diana and PP got on well, for a time.  She may have said that, she had some issues, and sometimes said things…I don’t know…William did have a different upbringing, and he was lucky to have the Middletons in his life which no doubt helped shape him into who he is today.  Harry did not have the same stability William had.  I think had Harry not met her….he would not be who he is today…a meeting made in hell….❤️

🟨 South Vietnamese (ARVN) Regional Force Mechanized Platoon, based on a 1966 TO&E.

The Regional Force was essentially a provincial territorial defense branch that ran in parallel to the regular ARVN units intended for offensive operations. The head of a RF Sector HQ was that province's Province Chief, and nominally an ARVN Colonel. They were both military heads and civil administrators, initially appointed by the area's Corps Commander. Popular Force meanwhile was essentially a static village-defense militia. RF and PF units operated together under the auspices of a District Chief, an ARVN Captain or Major in charge of a "Sub-Sector". They also at time assisted Regular ARVN operations.

The Mechanized Platoon gave a Sector HQ a mobile protection and security unit for patrolling the road net and acting as an intervention force. The Cadillac Gage XM706, known as the "Xe Commando" in Vietnam, was their main means. The precursor to DARPA shipped a few examples over to ARVN in 1963 for evaluation, and they began fielding it in 1965. It was initially equipped with two M1919A6 .30-06 MMGs but could be converted for 1x .30 cal and 1x .50 cal to boost its firepower. American Military Police (initially the 18th MP Brigade) would soon adopt a modified version of the platform for convoy escort duties.

I don't have the evidence yet but this structure seems a lot more like French cavalry during COIN operations of the 1950s/1960s than it does a U.S. Army MP unit. They lacked the MP's doctrinal law enforcement/EPW responsibilities and is somewhat similar to French practice of having a fair bit of infantry in armored car units to increase the cavalry's flexibility. ARVN mechanized units also had cavalry titles.
