Dim All the Lights, Batch 1 Drafts Off to Editing
Batch 1 of Dim All the Lights content is off to editing!
Dim All the Lights, which starts crowdfunding this Fall, is a follow-up to Moonlight on Roseville Beach. It'll include the core rules, new character options, and new places and entities for PCs to investigate.
The first batch includes:
New origin stories, including The Veteran, an experienced supernatural investigator who's regularly showing off new skills; The Rose Island Regular, who's been working on the island for several years and knows a lot about the town and its locals; The Changeling, who was taken to live in different worlds and realities and returned to find someone else was living their life; and Mainland Renegade, inspired by Mary Ann Singleton, who came out to Roseville Beach for a weekend and decided to stay.
New jobs with the Fire Brigade, the Park Service, Rosie's Bar, and The Paperback Exchange, and self-employment opportunities.
Investigation guides (with player handouts) for five mysterious entities, including the logs of a missing park ranger, the lab notes of marine biologist, the private diaries of a woman who went missing, and police records from several suspiciously similar disappearances (by Noora Rose of Monkey's Paw).
New "Stories from Roseville Beach" by Bendi Barrett.
We're still working on other new material, including:
Deep dives into weird locations like Odd Island, where Otters of Unusual Size seem to be keeping all humans away, and the village of Charmington, near Rose Island's eastern edge, an exclusive community of shipping magnates hosted by the leaders of an odd local church, with an unusually high number of missing teenagers.
Ready to run mysteries from Sharang Biswas and myself, including my convention scenario, The Bracknell Horror.
New strange events tying your characters to the events of Dim All the Lights.

The former face met the new franchise face when the Raptors faced the host Chicago Bulls Tuesday night at the United Center.
Scottie Barnes doesn’t have any of DeMar DeRozan’s nuances when a play in the mid-range needs to be made.
He is bigger than DeRozan and much more is being asked of Barnes when DeRozan had Kyle Lowry as his running mate in Toronto.
For the time being, Barnes isn’t surrounded by much following a spate of injuries and two trades that sent two of Toronto’s best players packing their bags.
The night was short on marquee names outside of Barnes and DeRozan, but both teams competed in a game that would not be decided until late, which seems to be the Raptors' way when matched up against teams with similarly losing records.
Barnes and DeRozan were predictably double-teamed when the game turned very competitive.
Toronto led by nine with 3:13 remaining, but the outcome was never assured until the visitors stepped up defensively.
Once the Raptors were able to sustain their play on the defensive end, they closed out well in emerging with a 118-107 win to snap a hideous five-game losing streak.
During some stretches, the Raptors looked overmatched and unable to respond when the Bulls went on runs.
It changed in the second half when some much-needed defensive intensity and attention to detail allowed the Raptors to be competitive.
Just when it looked like the Bulls were going to run the visitors out of town, the Raptors mounted a response in turning a double-digit disadvantage into a one-possession game.
They were playing on a string, sharing the basketball, and attacking the rim by embracing an aggressive approach.
Offensively, Bruce Brown followed Gary Trent Jr.’s lead by emerging as the offensive catalyst in the third quarter.
The Raptors also got some quality play from veteran Thad Young, but it was the move to have Barnes play the center spot that had its biggest impact.
For the most part, Toronto’s bench was not as noticeable as it was in Atlanta until Jordan Nwora decided to take matters into his own hands in what turned out to be an explosive spurt.
The Raptors went off for 37 third-quarter points and would take a 90-89 lead into the fourth period.
He recorded four assists, three rebounds, one steal, and zero turnovers, highlighting why Dick can have a presence without scoring a single point.
Jontay Porter’s recent run of bad luck continued Tuesday when it was revealed the soft-shooting big suffered back spasms after playing five minutes.
He was ruled unavailable for the rest of the night and is likely questionable for Friday night’s tip in Houston when the Raptors get reunited with Fred VanVleet while getting their first look at Canada’s Dillon Brooks in a Rockets uniform.
Porter has been a revelation for the Raptors and was part of the team’s bench brigade that would outplay Toronto’s starters Sunday in Atlanta when the Hawks escaped with a one-point win on a late put-back dunk.
It bothered Porter to the point where he was limited to only four minutes in the Raptors’ home loss to the Clippers Friday night.
Toronto continued to be without its starting center Jakob Poeltl (back) and it is only true big, while also missing fellow starters Immanuel Quickley (quad) and R.J. Barrett (knee).
When he turned his ankle on a night the Raptors blew out the host Golden State Warriors, many felt the Raptors would be vulnerable when defending the rim.
Without Siakam, Barnes no longer can step into three-pointers because the floor is not sufficiently spaced.
No Siakam, no Quickley and it’s slim pickings when it comes to finding players who can draw defenders.
Barnes never made a single three-point shot Sunday and he went 0-for-3 in Tuesday’s first half when the Raptors trailed 63-53.
In reality, the score flattered the Raptors, who were not good and woefully thin in size.
Only one starter, Trent Jr. reached double figures in scoring when he netted 16 in playing 16 minutes.
He was also the only starter to bury a look from distance, going 4-for-7 from beyond the three-point arc.
Toronto was at the epicenter of NBA trade gossip in the weeks and even months leading up to the eventual deals involving OG Anunoby and Siakam.
Most of the talk leading up to the Feb. 8 trade deadline involves the Bulls with names such as Alex Caruso and DeRozan being bandied about.
Zach LaVine is under contract, albeit an inflated deal that may make teams balk at acquiring his athleticism and scoring exploits.
LaVine wasn’t in the lineup against the Raptors as he continues to nurse an ankle injury that potentially could shelf him beyond Feb. 8.
Before his ankle setback, LaVine was sidelined for more than a month because of a foot issue.

Brunson misses the shot and the Raptors escape!
As Jalen Brunson's game-winning 3-pointer soared through the air, Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse stared at the ball's trajectory with only one voice in his head. "Don't go in, I just said don't go in." Nurse said with a smile, "I hope he doesn't go in that goal."
The goddess of luck favored the Raptors. Brunson's lore shot hit the rim and popped out. The Raptors narrowly beat the Knicks in overtime, 123 to 121, avoiding a losing streak. The Raptors' heart was tested in the final moments of regulation and overtime.
"At the last moment, we will do our best to obey the destiny." Raptors guard Vanvleet said.
With 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter, Van Fleet's foul choice made the game variable. At that time, Barnes and Trent Jr. failed to make a shot to overtake the score. Randall caught the backcourt rebound. At that point, the two teams were tied at 107. The Raptors could have bet on their last defense, but Van Ver Leete chose to foul Brunson, who made one of two free throws to give the Knicks the lead.
"I just want to make sure that the last shot is in our hands." Van Vleet said with a smile after the game, "Make sure we can have the last shot, and then accept all the results."
But VanVleet failed to play the hero. He missed a three-pointer in the subsequent offensive round. It was Barnes who grabbed the offensive rebound and made two free throws to give the Raptors the lead again. Later, the two sides played two more rounds. First, Brunson missed a jumper, and the Knicks intentionally fouled Barnes. The latter made two free throws and one made the Raptors lead by 2 points. Then R.J. Barrett sent the game into overtime with a slam dunk across the court with six seconds left.
"I thought it was a great offense, and that's how the game flows," said Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau, who didn't choose to call a timeout at that moment. We fought hard all game."
In the last minute of overtime, the Raptors led by 6 points. The suspense of victory seemed to be very small, but the Knicks still broke out in a cold sweat. What happened in the next tens of seconds?
Randall intercepted Anunoby's pass, was fouled on a one-stop counterattack, and scored the ball at the same time, narrowing the point difference to 4 points.
Randall missed an additional free throw, the Knicks made two consecutive offensive rebounds, and finally Barrett fouled, making two free throws to narrow the point difference to 2 points.
Raptors choose to kill time, they made a three-pointer in the last minute, Achiuwa missed the shot, and the Knicks got the rebound.
Once again Thibodeau opted not to call a timeout, and Brunson dribbled downfield for a comfortable 3 with the ball, but his shot went too high.
"I just choose the opportunity left to me by the opponent's defense." Brunson, who scored 26 points and 7 rebounds, said after the game that he made 2 of 6 three-pointers tonight. Seeing the game time, it's the kind of shot I've been working on, and I thought it was a good opportunity."
But it didn't turn out to be on the Knicks' side. They had just defeated the Pistons in an away game the day before, and today’s back-to-back defeats have caused the Knicks’ home winning percentage to fall below 50% again this season (11 wins and 12 losses). They have also become all teams with a winning percentage of over 50% this season The only team that loses more than wins at home. Looking at the entire league, there are only 6 teams with a home win rate of less than 50% this season-if the Lakers lose to the Rockets today, they will become the 7th team.

But speaking of it, there were some nights we played. Very good, we played strong teams at home and strong teams away, but the final result was not on our side, we will strive to better grasp the game.”
"I think for me there were some nights where we didn't move well enough and didn't hit the rhythm well. It's going to take less of that and then do it a little bit better. We've got the ability to beat anybody, that and a month The same as before. We have played very well against some strong teams in very difficult times, and we know we have the ability to do this. So I hope the team can have that kind of execution on both ends of the offense and defense. Get together solidly and do this well.”

每年NBA選秀的樂透抽籤結果是難以預測的，但在過去35年，你可以很確定一件事：紐約尼克籤運極差。自從1985年取得狀元籤選下Patrick Ewing以來，尼克隊11次樂透抽籤的順位從來沒有比預期的順位前面，更在其中6次比預期的順位還差。對於季賽表現就顯得掙扎的球隊來說，這就像是在融化的聖代上放了一顆發霉的櫻桃，讓所有橘藍軍團的投資者都遭受不幸一般。

2020年進入休賽季的尼克幾乎需要補齊所有東西。Rose、Thibodeau以及球團必須評估一份名單，其中得包含放眼未來的年輕球員，以及立即見效的頂尖球星。當尼克在進行選秀、自由球員簽約、球員發展策略等決策時，都必須牢記兩個目標。首先，這是否有助於他們去評估RJ Barrett（2019年選秀探花）的球技和天花板，成為尼克目前唯一有機會養成的側翼球員；以及Mitchell Robinson（2018年選秀第二輪）是否已經成長為聯盟最吸引人的中鋒之一。再來，他們能夠幫助Barrett和Robinson到達他們的天花板嗎？

Robinson則成為了傳統派和數據派的新寵兒。因為他具備令人生畏的籃框保護能力（在過去兩季出賽超過1000分鐘的球員中，他擁有最高的阻攻率）、封阻三分球的特異天賦（根據pbpstats.com，他阻攻40顆三分球，大幅領先第二名的25次）、而且幾乎能接住所有丟給他的球，完成得分（他剛創下了NBA史上單季最高命中率，並在他生涯目前兩個賽季，都在擋拆得分的產能位居第一）。然而，Robinson在這兩季的場均上場時間只有21.8分鐘，主要來自於他的犯規麻煩。他在每100回合就會被吹判7.2次違例，是聯盟所有輪替球員中第二多。

22歲並且沒有打過NCAA的Robinson，仍然在學習當他利用身高優勢影響對方投籃的同時，面對假動作也能保持身體的穩定性。但有多少次他的犯規，其實是為了幫助其他弱不禁風的邊線防守者而被吹判的（不是在說Frank Ntilikina啦），有誰會願意常常在控球者進入禁區之前就聽到哨音呢？在Robinson身旁放上一位具侵越性的防守者或更聰明的助手，那麼紐約尼克更有機會提升他們在禁區的本事，並從中獲益（尼克隊在Robinson上場時，平均每100回合能減少4.3的失分，相當於聯盟平均）。這有機會讓Thibodeau創造出繼2012年Tyson Chandler贏得年度最佳防守球員後，紐約尼克再次擁有這類防守像樣的球員。
當然，如果尼克能進入選秀前三順位就好了。而這也是四年來，三度落在這樣的順秀位置（特別提醒2017年Ntilikina的後五、六個順位分別出現了Donovan Mitchell和Bam Adebayo，以及2018年在Mikal Bridges和Shai Gilgeous-Alexander之前先選了Kevin Knox）。但他們仍然能從這樣層級的球員當中，找到對於Barrett和Robinson發展有幫助的人。即便只有一年去預測成為球星的潛質，第八順位還是能找到能射籃、防守、或進攻的人才，甚至選到具備上述多種功能的球員。在明尼蘇達灰狼以及金州勇士確定保有前兩順位的情況下，我們也不排除透過交易來重塑陣型：尼克隊可能會想要Tyrese Haliburton和Killian Hayes這類聰明且萬用的球隊核心、3D球員如Devin Vasell或Aaron Nesmith、具有潛力的禁區外圍防守者Isaac Okoro、或是在前場底線造成得分威脅的Obi Toppin（Kevin O’Connor在The Ringer's 2020 NBA Draft Guide中讓紐約尼克選了他）。
