How I sleep knowing I always cite my sources:
(First image from the film Drip Dippy Donald (1948); second image from season 4, episode 3 of the Simpsons, “Homer the Heretic” (1992).)

I'm not certain as to how many people checked the description of the new hbomberguy video but he linked a playlist to queer creators on youtube!
Your New Favorite YouTubers - Queer YouTubers you should check out, meticulously compiled by Kat.
It's worth a look! Please don't forget to support your fellow queer creators on YouTube whilst spreading memes and jokes about James Somerton and discussing the hbomberguy video!!
EDIT: @cursedgamerchild pointed out THIS REDDIT THREAD made by Kat
Which is a thread to share more discoveries of plagiarism and also to share more queer creators who could use some love! There's also a link to a google form if you don't have reddit and want to share said information.

friends. hbomberguy is not an attack dog. he's not out here treating other human beings as targets to ruin for funsies; if he was, that would be a massive red flag, not a hilarious treat. the bit about removing himself from any financial incentive to do a video like this again was really important, actually.

The thing you gotta respect about Harris is that he doesn't do "YouTube drama." He doesn't make a string of videos reacting and replying to petty takedown videos and hitpieces, or churn out live updates of drama as it unfolds for clicks.
No, he slowly, quietly gathers enough evidence to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that his target is a lying piece of shit and drops it all at once like an atomic bomb that erases even the possibility of a response. He just Dr Manhattan's that person's whole career in one fell swoop and moves on.

really like these two excerpts from the article Gita Jackson just published. i find myself worrying about what’ll happen going forward both on the likely harassment of Somerton (dont do it, did you even watch the video? Hbomberguy literally said not to do it). They’re right, the social repercussions are and likely will be plenty enough punishment. getting mad at that dude forever wont be truly productive, much fun as it may be in this moment. the bigger issue is the environment that let him and others thrive.

As soon as I was informed Ninjago turns 13 years old today I grinded finishing this as soon as possible.
I literally started watching this show for the first time just over a month ago but these silly ninja mean the world to me. I’m about 2/3 of the way through season 13 already which is maybe a tad concerning

the real takeaway i am getting from the hbomb video, other than the obvious “i am not immune to uncritical consumption habits”, is how misogyny is the canary in the coal mine. repeatedly. and overlooking it leads to overlooking other red flags until eventually you are accidentally subscribed to a plagiarist who uhhhh sure dog whistles a lot.

"What teenage girl did this to you in high school, James. And why are you inserting fanfiction about her into an article you stole instead of going to therapy?"

seeing people consider their own critical thinking skills in response to Plagiarism and You(tube), i'd like to share the SOAPSTone analysis framework i learned in AP lang & comp.
Speaker: who is this person? what are their credentials? any obvious motivations, personal or financial?
Occasion: when did the speaker say/write this thing? yesterday? a decade ago? was it for a specific event, or perhaps part of a larger series?
Audience: who did the speaker expect their message to reach? a certain age group? a specific fanbase? people with certain political opinions?
Purpose: why did the speaker say/write what they did on this occasion? what did they want the audience to think or do in response to their message?
Subject: what is the speaker talking about? is there a reason to take them seriously on this topic? why did they bring it up on this occasion?
Tone: how did the speaker choose to address their target audience? as a friend? a supplicant? an authority? why did the speaker choose this tone?

I know it's late to say, but I hope that Hbomb's video will encourage people to not only cite their sources but also have a good source to begin with. Don't tell me Snow White is 14 years old and then show a screenshot of a featured snippet from Google that leads back to Screenrant.com. Don't tell me Judy Garland was forced to take drugs and smoke 80 cigarettes a day by MGM and have your source be social osmosis or "Hundreds of other videos say so!" Where's that info from? Does it's source truly make sense as a source? Are there more reliable routes for sources to take outside of looking online, like reading books about the subject from people involved or seasoned/trusted in the topic? I know "Google is free", but that doesn't mean it's always good for research. Try Google Scholar at least...
