Who would wanna go field herping with me? ♥️
You might have expected any of the dragons to volunteer, since you'll be looking for reptiles and amphibians. However, not a single dragon showed up, something you're at least a little disappointed about.
"Don't let it get to you," Perenia says, gently patting your shoulder.
"Yeah!" Dani pipes up, dressed for the occasion so well that you almost didn't recognize her. "They're all overgrown lizards with a superiority complex anyway, who needs 'em?"
The only one looking a little out of place is Ghost, who's glancing around him with a sort of passive interest. You get the feeling that he might only be here because Perenia is here, but you don't voice it.
Well then, it's not a big party, but that's probably for the best.
"Ghost, are you ready?" You ask.
He nods fiercely. "Yup! I'm gonna catch a snake and put it in Kiyba's bed when he's not looking!" He looks very excited about this in a sort of sinister way that doesn't really suit him.
You wonder if it would be worth it to let him, or if you should try to herd the snakes away from Ghost. Considering the look on Perenia's face, she'll probably make sure he puts back any snake he does manage to catch, so you'll try not to be too worried.

Finally got onto my old computer and sent myself old custom cards I had made! I had made less Perenia cards than I thought but I’ll still show you guys what I’ve got. Mostly I’ve got the avatars and a couple ideas for some mechanics/themes. I will probably change the avatars around a bit but I like the bones of what I’ve got. The world is more developed though and I’d like to do more with the plane’s mechanical identity before I settled on the big guys. Anyway, here we go!
So I actually mostly like this one. The lure ability is keeping true to unicorns and the Spring faction I do know will focus on Awaken and land animation as the main mechanic. I might change up the power/toughness but I like the vigilance and lifelink.
This one is a bit busy. I like the attack ability and will probably keep that since I do want tokens to play a big part in the Summer faction. On the fence with her having deathtouch but previously bees have had than in magic and since she’s not mono-green it doesn’t feel as out-of-pie as say hornet queen. The red ability was going for bee stings (and then they die after) but I think it leans too much into insect tribal so I’m unsure. I do like the avatars all having an attack triggered ability and an activated ability so I will still need to get that to work.
Ah Poulios, the one that started everything. I am still mostly satisfied with this. I think I’d just need to tweak his second ability to ‘another target creature’ so he can’t just pick himself.
There are things I like about this card and things I’m unsure about. Flash and flying are a must so that’s easy (winter can come in an instant and when you’re least expecting it!). The first ability was borrowing from a mechanic I was toying with a while back and I like the ability but I’m wondering if the flavor makes sense for this card. The second ability fits very flavorfully (and you’re supposed to be able to hit yourself since the Winter faction cares about having tapped stuff), but I worry that even with the aggressive cost, it may be too oppressive.
This one I’m still pretty satisfied with. It’s supposed to be an inverse of the natural avatars while still rewarding you for playing artifacts. I think the improvise and menace are still fitting as well.
Anywhere here are the current draft of the avatars! I definitely think there’s some updating that needs done, but I like a lot of what’s going on! I’ve got a few more Perenia cards but I’ll put those in a new post :3

Perenia for sure, but there's barely a question there; she loves nature and creatures of all shapes and sizes.
Kiyba would as well, but there's a solid chance he'd try and use that as a way to nick one and prank someone with it, Home Alone style.
Violet can appreciate being misunderstood and feared, so it's possible he'd make an attempt, at least. As long as none of them rush him Animal Crossing style.

Some more Perenia cards!
Ok this batch is from the Fall faction. Graveyard and specifically cycling is something I want to focus on in this faction a lot. The flavor of cycling just feels so right for it. Mana-costs might need adjusted but I really like this card! Technically may not need black, it just fit with flavor.
Ok the rest of the cards all go with the Winter faction xD
This is another one that may or may not need the black. I’m still figuring out exactly how the tapped-matters mechanic will work for Winter but I’ve got a lot of support cards designed for it so far including what I think is a nicely flavored board-clear.
This was one I was toying with but we’ll see if I stay with it. It lends itself to an exalted style of play and I’m not sure that fits with the winter faction. I could always switch to +0/+1 so it’s purely defensive? We’ll see.
This was mostly me trying to come up with part of the tapped-matters mechanic. Also featuring polar bear people!
This was a first draft for the potential faction leader for Winter (though I still am thinking of making an owl aven the leader idk yet). I’m not sure I love the ability but I do want it to benefit tapped creatures and I’ve seen this ability on another real card. I forget which one though… 😅
