📚📚📚 bookshelf goals 📚📚📚 ~ After reading Shaw's play I finally saw My Fair Lady, a film I'd hear referenced many times but had never seen before. I'm not a fan of musicals in general, so that may have a lot to do with my opinion of it, but I didnt really like it. I found it to be too long and drawn out with all the songs (though I did like some of the songs themselves). Also I found Eliza's transformation too abrupt, literally from one moment to the next. That said, I did like the acting and the costumes (especially the big ridiculous hats- can we bring that back?). On a tip from @lost_._in_._translation , I then watched the 1938 version and thought it was a much better adaptation. Its much shorter (not a musical), truer to the play, and I liked the casting of Higgins better.
